How’s everyone doing? I’m really feeling the sleep deprivation today Sad

kkr168 · 18/12/2020 13:24

We're doing ok, baby is finally sleeping in his crib rather then on me at night. After introducing 2 formula bottles a day, my baby then completely rejected the boob, he screamed & screamed until given a bottle instead, so looks like our breastfeeding journey is over. I do prefer bottle feeding in the day, I'm not someone that could ever feed in public, but at night breastfeeding is so much easier, no faffing around with bottles, etc.

lc86 · 18/12/2020 16:03

Soooo tired!! And even though I stopped breastfeeding 10 days ago I now have mastitis and a lovely temperature to go with it 😩

Babyhope98 · 18/12/2020 16:18

My baby has been so unsettled due to wind I’m trying to cut foods out and drinking fennel tea. I’m going to a highly recommended osteopath next week so I’m hoping that’ll help. She hasn’t let me put her down and she was going in her bed but now she’s back to co sleeping as she won’t be separated at the moment. 😩

peachypetite · 18/12/2020 16:20

@kkr168 we use the pre made little bottles at night with the sterilised lids so all you do is pop a lid on. Definitely worth the ££

kkr168 · 18/12/2020 16:52

@peachypetite I've tried him with those previously & again he refuses, we have a very fussy little boy! He's on reflux milk now, as he was bringing regular milk back up, it's even more of a pain to make as you have to leave it to thicken for 5 mins.

peachypetite · 18/12/2020 17:14

@kkr168 oh no. Five minutes is a long time when the baby wants milk NOW!

kkr168 · 18/12/2020 17:24

@peachypetite it seems like forever in the middle of the night, feel sorry for the teens, although they've not complained about the noise, yet!! My husband somehow sleeps through it, I swear he'd sleep through anything!!

We finally got our little boy registered at 3pm today, he's named Tommy, only took us 16 days to agree on a name.

peachypetite · 18/12/2020 18:23

That’s lovely! We have named our little girl Matilda.

Kj1010 · 18/12/2020 18:39

Still trying to get a appointment to register my little one no joy yet but not stressing my lo seems to be very clingy today only settled with me which I'm surprised as I've been feeling a little peed off and emotional my oh cooked me a bacon sandwich which I'm grateful for buy it wasnt cooked enough so I put it on to cook a little longer and got called a selfish so and so he said he was only joking but it really upset me it's only been 11 days since my surgery and already I'm doing the house work etc seems the novelty of doing stuff has worn off with everyone in the house I mean oh tells me to sit down but doesn't do any tidying up which he knows I cant stand mess dont even get help with bottle washing feeling very un appreciated and like what I've been through is nothing!!

Hi all! last Thursday on my due date my waters broke and I was induced 24h later because I did not have any contractions.

For those looking for a positive induction story, mine was one. They took me to the labor ward Saturday at 6 pm, put me on the oxytocine drip and about an hour later I had the contractions needed, they stoped the drip and my body continued in its own creating the contractions.
If like me, you missed alcohol in pregnancy, I loved the laughing gas, I was very high from it :P and the epidural did an amazing job at killing the pain! Pethadine however made me very sick and I did not like it.
At some point the midwife came and said that in the next cervix examination I was supposed to be 8 cm and that 4-6 more hours were needed before start pushing, but when they checked I was already fully dilated. So for me the induction really worked and with the drugs I barely felt any pain.

TBH the worst pain were the vaginal examinations before the labor, so so painful Sad

tiny Mateo arrived on Sunday 13th at 10:27 and surprisingly only weighted 2.5 kg / 5.5 pounds (when in the 37 week scan was predicted to be 2.7 kg / 6 pound already). We had to stay at the hospital 4 days to make sure he did not lose too much weight.

@Jwl45 I was recommended to offer the breast (milk is coming in now, 5th day PP) and top up with 30-40 ml of formula to make this tiny human chubbier!

congratulations everyone in the birth of your babies! It is amazing what our bodies can do :D (apologies for the long post)

Pinktruffle · 18/12/2020 20:06

Congratulations @sandrastillstuffed. What a lovely name your little one has!

The sleep deprivation is easily catching up with me.i had a bit of a cry today and told my husband that I can't cope but felt better after I had a nap. My LO had really bad trapped wind today and screamed the house down which didnt help how I was feeling.

He is awake every two hours at night for a feed. I've tried feeding him more but he won't drink it all or will throw it up so we are still doing 4 ounces every 2 hours or so but it is hard work. Luckily he sends to sleep in his next to me on a night but wont sleep in it during the day, he'll only sleep on me which is getting very frustrating as I can't do anything during the day and it's driving me mad.

kkr168 · 18/12/2020 20:54

@Charl88 & @sandrastillstuffed congratulations on your babies

@Pinktruffle do you have a sling? I have a close caboo sling which the baby loves being in & means I can get most things done.

Kj1010 · 18/12/2020 21:06

@Pinktruffle I feel ur pain on the night time feeds glad I'm not the only one my lo only taking between 2 to 3 ounces and the same if I try n get more in him he is sick so I'm just letting him feed what he wants and I know it's a pain but we just have to power through the sleepless nights we have got this also mine had a mishog day today and finally had a poo explosion which I think was the problem bunged up now settled asleep so I'm having a well earned beer

Jwl45 · 18/12/2020 21:18

@sandrastillstuffed ah thank you for that. I have started a bit of combi feeding now... She's even had an extra bottle today as I had a desperately needed haircut and my teenage daughter fed her whilst I was away. (I breastfed before leaving .... ).
It varies. I introduced formula at around 5 pm then started giving another the last 2 nights about midnight. She seems more fulfilled. On other days, I found I gave breast and she needs a little top up ..I'm going with the flow. She's happy enough and putting on weight etc.
Congratulations on the birth of your little one. What a beautiful name. ❤️

Kpm7 · 18/12/2020 22:02

Any recommendations to keep me sane.

I am 7 days over now and today I am getting really irritated and fed up. Just want to cry but trying to stay positive.

Feel bad for feeling sorry for my self as there is always someone worse off but tonight has gotten the better of me Sad

MaverickDanger · 18/12/2020 22:15

I really feel you @Kpm7 - I’ve had a glass of wine and put on some funny films to try and cheer myself up.

Just hibernate in your little bubble, do what you can to get yourself through - I’m just watching shit TV, eating a lot and having really long baths!

I’m really with you in solidarity.

NaomiB79 · 19/12/2020 06:07

My lo slept for 6 hours last night from 10.30pm to 4.30am....I feel like a new woman after that much sleep 🤣 x

peachypetite · 19/12/2020 06:17

@NaomiB79 omg that’s amazing!

NaomiB79 · 19/12/2020 06:21

@peachypetite she's only ever gone 4.5 hours before but she's nearly 7 weeks now so hoping this is the start of when they start sleeping longer spells through the night. The lack of sleep is so brutal it's like a form of torture....hang in there xx

peachypetite · 19/12/2020 06:39

My daughter is four weeks now so that gives me hope. She’s actually been so good last night, no colic! Woke up for feeds but went straight to sleep after. It’s kind of annoying that I miss out on sleep because I have to bloody pump but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make for now.

kkr168 · 19/12/2020 07:33

Wow @NaomiB79 I cannot wait for this day to come! My 2 week old son only drinks 1oz at his 4am feed, every other feed is 3oz, so I think that'll be the 1st to go for him.

Jwl45 · 19/12/2020 08:43

@NaomiB79 amazing!! We not far behind you ... Last feed of night 12am... Woke for feed at 5. I will be honest though, I was awake at 4 waiting for her to wake lol. We have just had a feed now and she's fast asleep. May put her back down, hope she stays asleep for an hour... Do I can have a snooze. 🤣

Kj1010 · 19/12/2020 10:07

Morning all I cant wait for the longer sleeps lol look like crap I must say lol but worth it my one drinks 2 ounces but wakes every 2/3 hours got released from midwife this morning no jaundiced anymore and lo has put on 11 ounces he is 12 days old so I am a happy mummy

Candoolili · 19/12/2020 10:10

Fair play to you MaverickDanger! Couldn’t even contemplate getting a turkey this year, then again we live quite far away from family. It’ll be a chicken for 2 (and a bit) round here. Have hit the 40 week mark today so starting to feel the pain of those who have gone over, I know it’s only a hypothetical due date but hard to to get antsy! Hard to think of nice pampering things to do with the shops etc so busy and a toddler to mind
