@Kj1010 Are you feeding breast milk or formula? My sons 90% breast fed & he poo'd after every feed for the 1st 4 days, but seems to have settled into 2-3 random ones every day now. Colour wise his went from black to black/green to mustard yellow.

@LRHRN I'm using aptamil reflux milk for 1 feed per day, I'm using mam bottles with size 2 teats as any smaller was getting blocked.

@danielasummer I agree with @chubbyhotchoc you're very positive, after my induction I said I'd never have anymore children, it took me 17 years to pluck up the courage 😂 this labour was an absolute breeze compared to my induction, it was only painful for around 1-2 hours.

kkr168 · 15/12/2020 12:44

The health visitor came earlier today, my little mans gained 320g in 8 days, which they said is very impressive. He's going to be a little chunk!

Kj1010 · 15/12/2020 12:48

@kkr168 bottle feeding I've done some research and it's normal he has slowed down on the poos today had a nice throw up though which I think he must of needed I have had my first mid morning snooze and it was lovely but feel.i cud still nap lol now to have a tidy up and wash the bottles for next sterilisation then I think I'm gonna take myself and little man for a walk need to get out for a bit of fresh air so will surprise my girl and meet her from school

LRHRN · 15/12/2020 13:02

@kkr168 I'm using mam bottles too and number 1 is getting blocked so I'll get the number 2 ones

Jellycat2020 · 15/12/2020 13:22

@kkr168 our little girl gained 180g in 48 hours when we were desperately trying to get her weight up! 🐽

kkr168 · 15/12/2020 13:37

@Jellycat2020 wow, now that is impressive

EithneBlue · 15/12/2020 15:15

Hey all, I hope everyone is doing well? I can't remember when I last posted but baby is now already 2 weeks old (!) and has been home since Wednesday and seems to be doing really well. My milk is still a bit out of whack because I was pumping when he was in the NICU so I have a bit of an oversupply: poor baby keeps coughing on my milk! But he's feeding well, is above his birth weight, my supply is gradually balancing to what he needs and I'm maintaining some pumping so that my husband can feed expressed milk in the early evening allowing me a nap and maintaining some of my sanity :-)
I've been a little afraid to try the sling we have but the health visitor recommended it so maybe later: I think because he was so sick for the first few days I'm a little over-anxious about accidentally hurting him or suffocating him -- this is getting better but I'm still constantly checking he's still breathing and any hold position where I can't fully see his face makes me uncomfortable. I know I need to chill out a bit but the memory of him on a ventilator is pretty raw still (he only really needed the ventilator because he had to be heavily sedated for the cooling treatment but it was still pretty unnerving).

I also had a terrifying dream last night when my husband had him upstairs whilst I took a nap: I woke up absolutely convinced the baby was stuck inside the duvet... I don't think my husband has quite recovered from the shock of that 😳

lc86 · 15/12/2020 18:38

@EithneBlue so glad you are both home and well. I can't imagine seeing my baby like that so can only imagine how you feel. It's bound to take time to get over that image. Just give yourself a break and go through whatever emotions you need to xx

Pinktruffle · 15/12/2020 19:08

@EithneBlue so lovely to hear that you are both home! I have to admit, I'm constantly worried something will happen to the baby and check he is breathing constantly through the night, I can only imagine how much worse that would be for you after all you've been through. Please be patient with yourself, what you've been through must have been traumatic x

chubbyhotchoc · 15/12/2020 20:13

@eithneblue you sound like your nerves are a bit shattered ( understandably). The checking the breathing thing is exhausting. I do it myself and I was horrendous with it at first. Literally didn't sleep AT ALL for 7 days and nights because I felt like I had to be watching. I've got a bit better but I have a breathing monitor and it's helped me relax a bit. I know a lot of people don't like them but it definitely helps my anxiety.

Hi all,

Bit of an update from me - still in hospital 7 days post c section

Yesterday I was given the choice to stay a further 10 days on IV antibiotics which mean I can breastfeed or go home tomorrow on oral tables but not be able to breastfeed for 7 days. My infection has really affected my milk supply and it's terrible (5ml with 45 min pumping) so chances of maintain a supply by pump and dump are slim and to say I was gutted is an understatement.

It was a really hard choice but I chose to go home but only for this morning to be told there is actually a different course available so I can breastfeed - I'm obviously thrilled but I don't think they get the emotions I've been through in the last 24hrs! I had a proper grieving experience yesterday!

@Jellycat2020 we've obviously been using a lot of formula and my supply isn't great but I want to try and revert back so if you do decide to pick up the breastfeeding again would be interested in your strategy. I think our issues are different - yours being more about latch and mine being supply but if you find any useful resources or experts please do let me know!

@EithneBlue delighted to here things have picked up for you and the little one. I've had a bit of a traumatic start with me being ill but I am just so grateful it was actually me and not him. I'd take it 10 times over. I can't imagine how scary that was for you. Be kind to yourself!

I'm a bit behind on the thread but good luck to all those still waiting! Xx

Charl88 · 16/12/2020 09:05

My husband may have to have some urgent surgery tomorrow... itll only be daycare but its our due date tomorrow 😢 im terrified he is going to miss the birth and baby will appear tomorrow morning. My mum is coming over to be with me just in case but I have a horrible feeling it'll happen. My husband just keeps saying stop worrying as baby will be late but it'll just be our luck!!

Kj1010 · 16/12/2020 09:55

Morning all @jalu47 oh wow glad ur on the mend and finally going home had a horrible nights sleep last night woke up tired and with a headache over slept so my girl isn't in school since I've had him our routine as gone right out the window my girl has only been a school for like 3 days I mean I'm not to fussed as I'm concerned about her going in with this covid etc and bubba just cant deal with the school going on about how important it is education obvs I know this but just feel very unsettled and not in control at the moment

viixie · 16/12/2020 10:25

Anyone else's due date today? No sign here yet 😳

MaverickDanger · 16/12/2020 10:35

@viixie yesterday for me and no signs either. Resigning myself to a Christmas Day baby.

viixie · 16/12/2020 13:33

@MaverickDanger it's interesting because my other two were born at 40+1 but I feel this one is in no hurry. Have you got a sweep booked ?

peachypetite · 16/12/2020 14:05

SO TIRED ARGH

NaomiB79 · 16/12/2020 14:09

Heading to the doctor in a bit for our six week check. I'm dreading it as not taken my baby in the car on my own yet (DP can't get off work and only one of us is allowed in with her anyway) and she has been so unsettled and crying all day. I have the fear she's going to scream the surgery down and I won't be able to calm her down. Need to get my big girl pants in and just get on with it....wish me luck!

NaomiB79 · 16/12/2020 14:10

Pants on even!!

MaverickDanger · 16/12/2020 14:13

@viixie I’ve got a midwife appointment tomorrow and I’m sure they said they’d give me a sweep as it’s my first.

Hopefully things are looking promising and it’ll help him on his way. I’m having a few aches and pains, but been having them for weeks and think it’s just the size of me!

Nic2908 · 16/12/2020 14:43

@MaverickDanger we are twins i have my midwife appointment tomorrow. Think I'm going to decline a sweep tomorrow just give him a bit more time. Trying to follow hypnobirthing. What time is your appointment tomorrow.

MaverickDanger · 16/12/2020 15:48

Haha we really are @Nic2908!!

It’s at 10am - hopefully things are looking favourable, I think it’s just having an idea now of how likely it is to happen in the next couple of days vs the next week.

I’m starting to suffer a bit mentally. I’ve been leaving my phone in the other room throughout the day because I’m so over people messaging me multiple times a day every day!

Kj1010 · 16/12/2020 16:56

Arghh my little one has been so unsettled today havent really been able to put him down not settling at all a bit whingy drinking ounce to 2 every hour or so is it right they go through a growth spurt between day 7 to 10 I'm sure someone on here said they do

kkr168 · 16/12/2020 17:02

My babies literally slept the entire day, wakes for his feed every 3 hours then straight back to sleep. Hoping he's having a growth spurt after his cluster feeding the other day, either that or I'm going to be in trouble tonight

NaomiB79 · 16/12/2020 17:03

@Kj1010 I feel your pain my wee one has been exactly the same today! I think she is going through the six week growth spurt, she has not slept and just wanted to feed all day. It's so tough sometimes with these new babies....not gonna lie I'm struggling today x
