@Peachypetite I've managed some veggie sausage rolls today and that's it and I've not showered since Saturday. I was really hoping to shower today but it's not looking likely - I think I'm going to have to choose between food for tonight or showering, but maybe I'll be able to get one in tonight. I managed two just about hot cups of tea though does a victory dance

kkr168 · 14/12/2020 18:06

@peachypetite pretty rubbish day here today too, if he's not attached to my boob he's crying. It's as if my milk isn't filling him up because he's so content after having a bottle of formula.

Babyhope98 · 14/12/2020 18:15

Unsettled baby here too. Last couple of days she seems to be crying more. Think she’s having pains with her stomach from gas, I ordered some of the gripe water you suggested @peachypetite do I have to wait until she’s a month to use it? She’s clung to me all day and had to co sleep with her last night as she was screaming when I put her in her bed so stressful.

Babyhope98 · 14/12/2020 18:25

Could be a growth spurt @kkr168 I had this on days 7-10 where she just wanted to feed, it ups your supply. Then it comes again at 2-3 weeks 6 weeks etc when they have a spurt x

kkr168 · 14/12/2020 18:52

@Babyhope98 that makes perfect sense, after 4 hours attached to me I made him some formula, he's now fast asleep! It's probably not doing my supply any good by giving him a bottle but I just needed 10 mins to eat my dinner.

LRHRN · 14/12/2020 18:54

Think we're all in the same boat.
I've bought a baby wrap sling and it's been a game changer. I strap her to me and can get all my jobs done.
I've started her on some formula, the anti reflux one and she's keeping it down and is really settled and actually settling on her own too.

I'm thinking my milk just isn't suiting her

Babyhope98 · 14/12/2020 19:04

I have kept to exclusive breast feeding but it is so hard when they’re cluster feeding I understand why you have given the bottle I couldn’t get anything done luckily my mum was here to feed me. @kkr168

LRHRN · 14/12/2020 19:06

@kkr168 I've done the same.
It's really hard isn't it. I'm having to juggle school runs and it always falls that she's starving when I need to leave x

peachypetite · 14/12/2020 19:18

@Babyhope98 no it says on the box from two weeks thank god, it’s the only thing that really seems to calm her down fast and she likes the taste of it. It’s kind of reassuring to know a lot of you are in the same boat. I had no idea how hard it would be looking after a newborn.

peachypetite · 14/12/2020 19:20

@kkr168 don’t beat yourself up. I’m expressing loads and I’d say she’s having 75% breast milk and 25% formula but I always pump plenty, I don’t think giving formula (during the night for convenience / the pre made bottles) has affected my supply.

Jellycat2020 · 14/12/2020 19:24

So we've had an interesting day! I've posted before about our troubles getting our girl to latch to breastfeed and have been bottle feeding ebm and formula, transitioning to exclusive formula. We were told in the hospital she didn't have a tongue tie. Midwives since then have said its not obvious but she may have a posterior tie. Ended up going private today and getting her assessed - she had a moderate/severe tongue tie and a lip tie too! The tongue tie has now been corrected but now I'm so split as to what to do about feeding. Tried her on the breast straight away but she just behaved as she ever did. I still just about have milk but I've been weaning my supply right down as we had given up on the idea of ever breastfeeding, thinking the chance of a tongue tie was very low. I know it'll be hard work now to both increase my supply and to get her trained to the breast after having a bottle. It may not even be possible at all. My mental health is struggling anyway and although I'm desperate to do the best for her, I'm not sure I could cope with the stress and time it'll take to try to revert to breastfeeding now she's nearly a month old already. Has anyone any experience of going from bottle to breast or increasing their milk supply again? Any advice? Or has anyone hired a lactation consultant to help? I don't know what to do! 😩

peachypetite · 14/12/2020 20:43

@Jellycat2020 might be worth contacting la leche?

kkr168 · 14/12/2020 20:44

@peachypetite It's good to hear it hasn't affected your supply, hopefully I'll find the same.

I've had some xmas photo's printed, I may be biased but isn't he gorgeous

Another very unsettled baby here too! She only slept for 40 minutes between midnight and 1pm today!! I'm so tired I've been constantly in tears. She has been on my boob constantly no amount of feeding seems to satisfy her! She was sleeping okay through the night but it's totally regressed this week. I know there is a growth spurt at 6 weeks which means they don't sleep so hoping it's that and she settles down again soon. I haven't showered either today. Hang in there everyone! Xx

peachypetite · 14/12/2020 21:18

I’ve been on the brink of tears all night too. I’m so tired that I keep doing stupid stuff like burning myself on the hot stove, not pouring my breast milk into the bag properly so it all ran down the side...i think this weekend I’m going to have a night in the loft room alone and get an unbroken night of sleep. It’s like torture.

Jwl45 · 14/12/2020 21:27

@kkr168 what a beautiful photo ❤️
@jellycat2020 Just remember ... A fed baby is a happy baby... Whether it's formula bottle or breast. I really wouldn't worry yourself about reverting back to breast if it's going to cause you anguish. You are doing the best for your baby .... Remember that. 🤗🤗
I've introduced a bottle only because I have such a sore nipple on the left. We only do one feed a day at minute... I have been toying with the idea for about a week... Felt bad about doing it... So have changed my mind so many times. But, I want to enjoy my feeding time whether it be breast or bottle. So ultimately feel this is right. And my hubby and other daughters can help too 😃

MySafeSpace · 14/12/2020 22:20

Omg we are all in this together. My lo had been the same today sooo clingy and constantly wanting the boob, I haven't showered in days and am physically drained, oh is currently feeding him ebm so I get a breather but wow wishing this phase would hurry up and pass. I'm dreading tonight in case he doesn't sleep again, we've had rough few nights of cluster feeding already

Kj1010 · 14/12/2020 22:27

Evening all feel some of your pain in regards to night time sleep lo seems to only wanna take a ounce and sleep for a hour lucky enough my partner does the main of it can I ask does ur lo poo every time they drink my one does and it's gone from yellow to a browny orange colour dunno if that's normal

LRHRN · 15/12/2020 07:03

@kkr168 what an absolutely gorgeous photo 🥰

LRHRN · 15/12/2020 07:41

I've given in and decided to formula feed my baby. She's on the anti reflux milk and hasn't been sick or grunted and settles really well now.

I tried her with breast milk yesterday and she projectile vomited it back up again but the formula stays down. It doesn't matter if it's from the boob or a bottle it's just not suiting her and I'm careful what I eat.

Now what to do with these rock hard boobs?
Do I just leave them and wait for the milk to go?
I can't remember what happened with my other 2 but I didn't breast feed them xx

danielasummer · 15/12/2020 09:14

Thank you so much for your lovely comments 🥰 Rosalia is a dream, we're obsessed with her!!

Sleeping in the night is an issue at the moment, thinking she has colic as she just will not settle. She was on the boob for hours last night, it seems to be the only thing that stops her crying although she's not sucking on the whole time. Will ask the midwife today.

Those still waiting, wishing you all SO much luck. I was very naive going into labour and thought that with my breathing, it would be virtually painless (it wasn't) but whatever happens, just know that the feeling you get straight afterwards is just incredible. After a long labour (induction), whilst holding my newborn on my chest I said to my husband pretty much straight away 'yeah let's do this again', after saying repeatedly during labour 'sorry but we're only having one!' You can do this, you got this, and I can't wait to read about the upcoming birth announcements on here. 😁

Is anyone else using anti reflux milk? I'm finding it's blocking number 1 teats

Nic2908 · 15/12/2020 12:15

Happy due date twin @MaverickDanger

chubbyhotchoc · 15/12/2020 12:19

@danielasummer you're so positive! After my induction I was completely horrified and swearing to dh he was never touching me again 😂

MaverickDanger · 15/12/2020 12:29

Happy due date @Nic2908 we made it!!

I’m having a full on duvet day today with Christmas films & just keep telling him it’s a lovely day to be born today Grin
