@amyyy1 how are you???

chubbyhotchoc · 10/12/2020 07:07

Aww god. I asked for pain relief as well and they kept saying they were preparing and getting it sorted. By that time I was nearly clawing the sheets off the bed and then they said I was ten and it was too late. You must push for better pain relief if you haven't already otherwise you will be so exhausted and in a state for the pushing stage. I really hope you get something

MrsSmith2020 · 10/12/2020 07:17

I'm having a baby today 😳
It's finally happening

FTM1512 · 10/12/2020 07:49

@Amyyy1 I too am currently being induced and being moved to the delivery suite this morning at some point. I know how you feel re not being listened to but one thing I would say is definitely keep beating that drum and pester as much as you can! Sometimes they genuinely forget because they are so rushed off their feet and just need the reminder. Don't be afraid to use the buzzer/call button or shout for someone if you really need something. I've found it hard to be heard as have spent the last two days strapped up to the monitor so had to buzz/shout even just to get disconnected for a wee! Fingers crossed it won't be long for you now :)

peachypetite · 10/12/2020 11:12

@Amyyy1 thinking of you, hope you got some relief.

Kj1010 · 10/12/2020 11:24

@Amyyy1 yes please make urself heard they have no right not to give u pain relief discusting just think through them pains tho that you getting that much closer to meeting your beautiful baby @jalu47 how are you feeling ? I've finally just had a shower it was broke so been washing but omg how good I feel human again milk has finally come in woke up massive and a little sore but feel ok I am popping ibuprofen every 4 hours to keep the pain down better than the pills they gave me

loobeelou · 10/12/2020 12:30

Best of luck @MrsSmith2020

@Amyyy1 and @FTM1512 hope things are moving a bit quicker for you both and your babies are with you soon x

Got to go for a growth scan tomorrow, as had my 38 week appointment today (although at 39+2) and he is slightly below the curve that’s been tracking.

Will I even see much at this late stage?!

chubbyhotchoc · 10/12/2020 18:12

@MaverickDanger I didn't see much on scans past 36 weeks

lc86 · 10/12/2020 18:15

@MaverickDanger they gave me pictures from my 36 week growth scan and I couldn't tell you what I was even looking at 🙊

MaverickDanger · 10/12/2020 18:19

Thanks ladies, that’s what I thought!

Better safe than sorry - although I’m measuring 40cm at 39 weeks and have always been measuring 2cm over, so it’s hopefully not too significant.

I’m amazed at how quick it was all booked in - midwife contacted them after my appointment at 2, they called at 3 and I’m booked in for tomorrow morning.

lc86 · 10/12/2020 18:31

@MaverickDanger honestly try not to worry too much. I went for a growth scan as was measuring large, they told me though that baby was normal size and around 6lb 12oz.. he came out 9lb 12oz.. same thing happened on previous baby and she was 9lb 13oz.. good luck, I'm sure it'll be fine x

MaverickDanger · 10/12/2020 20:45

Thanks @lc86 I’ve got a feeling he’s going to be on the bigger side than average & very long!

Just not really knowing what to expect has thrown me a little at this point! I do feel a lot more reassured now.

Hey guys - I hope you are all okay! Just an update we had the baby this afternoon via emergency c-section at 4:21pm after a very stressful and long induction. We have decided to call her Lyla Eve and she weighed 8 stone 8lbs. We are so in awe of her ☺️

Hi ladies, and thanks @Kj1010 for asking - a quick update from me as I've had a very bumpy few days!

Ben was born on Tues morning after a 3 day induction and unplanned c section. Wasn't ideal but it is was it is and all seemed fine. However yesterday things took a bit of I turn and I got diagnosed with sepsis, an infection in my womb and my bowel stopped moving so the build up of gas was off the chart (not helped by my IBD!). It's was all a bit traumatic and the worst pain I have ever felt but the staff here are INCREDIBLE and even though my partner could only be there from 8am-8pm I was well looked after. Bubba also got jaundice as feeding look a turn downwards (plus it isn't helpful he has tongue tie!) so he's now enjoying his first sun bed. It's certainly been a rollercoaster but we are both fine and healthy, plus nothing can be as hard as the last few days and he is totally worth it! Should be a breeze from here on in right?

I think I have ticked pretty much every complication you can pick up and come through the other side and I don't think I'll look back on it with much trauma, just respect for the super dooper care, so don't be panicked mums to be! Midwives in this country are amazing and apart from just feeling rotten and in pain, I never got scared.

Hopefully I'm the stat that picks up the complications which means anyone left to go will all have a swell labour and delivery.

Can't wait to go home and settle in as a family - fingers crossed for Sunday!!

Jwl45 · 11/12/2020 00:05

@jalu47 Congratulations on the birth of baby Ben. Oh bless you, you have been through the mill! Sorry to hear that. Fab to hear how positive you are though and are on the road to recovery. Fingers crossed for you that you'll be home really soon as a family 🤗 xx

NaomiB79 · 11/12/2020 01:01

@FTM1512 congratulations on the birth of your baby x

@Jwl45 congratulations on having your baby. Sounds like you've had a terrible time but good that the staff at the hospital have been brilliant and that you are getting all the care that you need. I hope you recover quickly and get to go home with your precious baby soon xx

NaomiB79 · 11/12/2020 01:04

@Jwl45 sorry my message was for @jalu47 that's sleep deprivation for you!

peachypetite · 11/12/2020 03:33

@jalu47 oh my goodness you’ve really been through it. But so glad to hear what good care you have received. I also have nothing but praise for the midwives who looked after us.

I’ve been up for the last 2.5 hours with my baby girl, just swaddled her snd got some white noise on and think she’s settling. I’m shattered. I have been forcing myself to nap in the day when she’s asleep now that my husband is back to work and I can’t just go to bed when I feel like it like when he was on paternity leave. Sod the housework!

Jwl45 · 11/12/2020 05:06

@naomib79 Don't worry at all. X this "less sleep" lark is a game changer eh?! Xx

Jwl45 · 11/12/2020 05:13

@peachypetite agree.. totally forget the housework! Try and nap when you can - although sometimes I know it's easier said than done. I've never been a day / power napper and do find it hard now to switch off.

loobeelou · 11/12/2020 07:01

Congratulations @jalu47 and @FTM1512.

Oh no. Poor you. I had sepsis too after my induction. It was horrendous. It seems to be common after induction? Glad you're getting there though. Take it easy you will feel rough for a while.
kkr168 · 11/12/2020 09:28

Congratulations @FTM1512 & @jalu47 xx

How are you getting on @Amyyy1

I'm going to make a real effort today to wake the baby every 3 hours for feeds, he's having 4-5 hour stretches in the daytime then waking every hour at night for feeds. The midwife said to feed on demand but I'm exhausted, if only the 5 hour stretches were at night! I tried him with a bottle last night with pre made aptimal milk, he refused it & screamed until he was breast fed. Going to try again tonight with expressed milk
