@EithneBlue congratulations on the birth of your baby boy....sorry to hear your baby had a traumatic birth, sounds like he's a little fighter and in the best place to get the best care. I'm so pleased they let your partner stay a long time with you and that you are both able to see your baby in NICU xx

NaomiB79 · 02/12/2020 21:49

@LRHRN sorry didn't read the bit about the midwife saying don't give your baby formula. You can get Comfort formula which is easier for them to digest so that might be an option longer term x

Babyhope98 · 03/12/2020 02:37

Wow this cluster feeding is hard and she doesn’t let me put her down as she wakes and begins crying. So I’m currently sat with her asleep in my arms trying to not fall asleep. I’ve tried so many times to put her down and she wakes each time. This is so difficult after my long labour I’m running on few hours sleep this week. 😩 Hope my milk comes in soon 🥺

excitednerves · 03/12/2020 02:57

@Babyhope98 we’ve had a few days of cluster feeding too. It’s so hard! I’m totally the same - afraid to fall asleep with her in my arms, she cries as soon as I put her in her bassinet. Thankfully tonight has been more restful, I hope you manage to get a few hours rest. Don’t be afraid to nap in the day when DD naps too. A little rest is better than none. It does get better, the newborn blur will pass. X

NaomiB79 · 03/12/2020 03:18

@Babyhope98 they often do that when first born won't sleep unless it's on you! It is difficult and really hard when you are shattered but within a couple of days she will settle more and start to sleep in her bassinet xx

kkr168 · 03/12/2020 03:30

I've had my beautiful little boy, he was born 2nd Dec at 11:45pm.
I stuck it out at home for as long as possible, arrived at the hospital at 9pm & was devastated when the midwife examined me & said I was still 2cm. Things progressed very quickly though & I started pushing, the midwife was telling me to stop because I definitely couldn't be ready, she checked again & sure enough he was well on his way out. He's fed on my breast twice & is now fast asleep, the midwife said we should be discharged around 7am.

NaomiB79 · 03/12/2020 03:43

@kkr168 congratulations he is absolutely beautiful! Sounds like a quick delivery in the end and brilliant news you will be home soon. Enjoy every second with your precious new baby xx

peachypetite · 03/12/2020 05:01

Hi ladies I really recommend the formula starter packs for convenience and ease if you just want to have some in for night or having latch problems like me. @kkr168 congrats! I also had a quick labour with baby arriving just a couple of hours after arriving at the hosp!

loobeelou · 03/12/2020 06:08

Congratulations @kkr168. Hope you are both doing ok.

LRHRN · 03/12/2020 07:02

@kkr168 Congratulations he is just gorgeous ❤️❤️

kkr168 · 03/12/2020 07:52

Were doing fine, got home around 5am, so happy to be home because the hospital was unbearably hot. I'm having quite a few contractions still, which the midwife said is normal with 2nd/3rd/etc births & had quite a few internal tears so am quite sore but he was worth it.

peachypetite · 03/12/2020 07:57

@kkr168 it’s your uterus contracting back down! Top tip is to take paracetamol every four hours religiously for the next few days - don’t want for the pain to kick in.

Babyhope98 · 03/12/2020 09:24

Congratulations @kkr168💙

Managed to get some sleep she slept for 5 hours after all that constant feeding 😅

Did anyone else find their baby was really gassy for the first few days? She poo’d a lot the first day now no poos just farting a lot but she’s weeing fine. I can hear her belly gurgling I shall ask midwife today but just wondered if anyone else experienced the same x

Kj1010 · 03/12/2020 09:58

@kkr168 congratulations on the birth of your bubba

Amyyy1 · 03/12/2020 10:26

@kkr168 Congratulations on your beautiful boy!!

viixie · 03/12/2020 10:45

How exciting so many new births, congratulations everyone Smile

LRHRN · 03/12/2020 11:52

@Babyhope98 I'm having this issue with Nora at the minute and have bought some infacol.
She burps and farts a lot but She doesn't poo much but really grunts and strains like she's trying to. She doesn't cry and miraculously is absolutely fine when I'm holding her 😂
She didn't poo at all from 11am or in the night but had an explosion this morning and she's not constipated.

Midwife told me that breastfed babies can go 2-3 days without having a poo as there isn't any waste and their bodies use all of what they get.
As long as they aren't bloated/swollen tummy or screaming in pain it's quite normal.

@kkr168 I had this for a few days and it was awful to the point I just cried. Apparently the more babies you have the worse the after pains are 😭 keep topped up on paracetamol and ibuprofen you can have both when breastfeeding too xx

loobeelou · 03/12/2020 12:57

Didn't know that the shrinkage pains can be worse if it's not your first. Thank you for the heads up, I'll stock up on the pain killers 😂

lc86 · 03/12/2020 13:06

Congratulations on the new babies 💙💙 I've just been for my pre op ready for tomorrow, it's a brand new hospital, only opened two weeks ago so lovely and clean and all single rooms ☺️ they said they're hoping my partner can stay for a few hours after the section which I'm really
hopeful for as according to their guidelines he has to leave after I've been in recovery for half hour. Everyone I met was so lovely, really excited and can't believe my baby will be here this time tomorrow!!!

LRHRN · 03/12/2020 13:16

@loobeelou yeah sorry to break it to you but this time they have been horrendous but on the plus side my uterus has totally gone back and my stomach is almost back to what it was and baby isn't 2 weeks old yet so there is some positives

kkr168 · 03/12/2020 13:43

My belly is obviously alot more sensitive too, used a hot water bottle (in a woolly case) over my pyjamas & yet my belly is bright red & blistered in 2 places.
Our baby is being an absolute dream, I'm so tired but just cant sleep for longer then 15 minutes, hopefully get an early night tonight.

Kj1010 · 03/12/2020 15:00

Afternoon all had my last midwive appointment today and to say she wasnt pushy is understatement trying to get me to breast feed etc and also I find this rather silly so I go in monday for the csection tuesday I shud be home and on the weds they want to see me and baby but I have to go to them because of the safety risks of covid I am the only driver so I was told I will have to get a cab and that my partner can bring baby to the door but then has to wait outside for us for 1 how can they expect me to be that mobil 2 days after 2 how can they think its safer for me and my baby to get in a cab that they probably have had loads of ppl in probably not cleaned regularly to go to a building that has all different ppl coming and going I dont get it but my partner has said he will not be allowing me to go after such a big op etc he thinks this is really unfair and getting very ridiculous now

NaomiB79 · 03/12/2020 15:07

@Kj1010 that is totally ridiculous - they should be coming to you! My midwife came to my house for every appointment before and after my baby was born. I'd just refuse to go on safety grounds and say they'll need to come to you instead.

Kj1010 · 03/12/2020 15:11

@naomib79 it is isnt it not just me over thinking things etc I defo think I will be refusing to attend they will have to come to me

LRHRN · 03/12/2020 15:19

@Kj1010 no way!! I've never heard anything like it. They need to come to you, how do they even know you will be home the next day anyway?
That's really unfair and absolutely ridiculous. I'd refuse, I would not be taking a newborn anywhere and also you shouldn't be up and about so soon after a major operation. How crazy! The midwife and health visitor have been to my house and I'm sure everyone else has been the same. I'd complain and say not a chance will you be going xx
