How are we all doing? I had a lovely lazy morning, counting down the days to my scan now!

Char899 · 14/12/2020 15:02

Feeling like utter s**t to be honest! 😂 scan on Saturday and feeling pretty nervous. I’ve got terrible constipation and bloating and look about 15 weeks pregnant! My tummy is so swollen and I keep having mild cramps. It’s just so so different to my pregnancy with ds.
How’s everyone else doing?

FTMF30 · 14/12/2020 15:21

I feel quite shit too. I'm having horrid headaches, constant nausea (god forbid I do something crazy like bend down to help DS pull his pants up after a wee on the potty) and I feel tired ALL THE TIME. I am patiently waiting for the second trimester where I am strongly hoping these symptoms will fade. Oh how I wish it was a breeze like my first pregnancy.

How is everyone else?

Ooh you must e excited @Char899. I'm wanting to wait until the 12 week scan but not sure if I can hold out.

Mommabear20 · 14/12/2020 16:07

Feeling like utter crap! Nausea from waking to going to sleep. DD is being a right madam today and has refused to nap all day! 🤦‍♀️ I just want to sleep! 😂

12 week scan in 2 days (I'll be 12+1). Can't shake the nagging feeling that something has gone wrong since my private scan at 8+6. Only time will tell.

3rdtimelucky2019 · 14/12/2020 16:10

Double post, sorry, but this made me smile. Haven't told any family. Saw sister in law Friday at a distance as it's DS first birthday. She privately messaged my DH hours later to ask if I was pregnant as I was glowing... How can people even tell!!

Mumtoalittlegirl · 14/12/2020 16:17

Can I join? Only 5 weeks 3 days with my second, and I am so so ill. I haven’t been able to keep anything down for days :( I’m so scared it’s going to be like this for weeks, I feel so guilty. DD has basically been inside for two days watching tv. DH has had to work from home and it’s all been a nightmare.

This baby was planned and wanted, but all sorts of feelings are creeping in. I know we are very lucky but I’m so worried now how hard this pregnancy is going to be, and what the baby will be like (DD was very difficult). Not feeling excited at all right now.

popcorndiva · 14/12/2020 16:19

Had nausea/sickness now for 10 days. Struggling to eat more than a few mouthfuls.

Manager did my risk assessment on Friday so is letting me use the toilets nearby instead of 200m away oh and I can wear a fleece instead of a shirt as its freezing.

Midwife is doing a phone appointment tomorrow to get all my details then I am to give bloods, do weight and height on Wednesday at the epau. Different midwife from my last pregnancy but she seems nice

mumblemush · 14/12/2020 17:12

Hello ladies. My second is due on 1st August and, my god, this pregnancy is so much worse!

Bellaphant · 14/12/2020 17:19

Ahaha I know, I haven't been sick today, which is like the first time since five days before my missed period. But it is only 5pm, lol. I'm sorry we are all struggling - do you think we're just knackered after baby 1?

Good luck to those with scans approaching

Mommabear20 · 14/12/2020 17:40

@Bellaphant it's natures way of saying 'what the hell were you thinking??!' 😂

popcorndiva · 14/12/2020 17:43

I reckon half of it is being knackered with a young child so you can't just nap when you want and your body kicking in sooner as it has done it before

FTMF30 · 14/12/2020 19:09

@3rdtimelucky2019 I hear lots about people being outed about their pregnancies. I get do paranoid that's going to happen to me at Christmas. Hope your scan goes well.

@Mumtoalittlegirl I am so with you and the mixed feelings. I'm actual nervous and quite scared. I also very much planned my second but when the reality hits, it's a bit much emotionally. My DS was also a very difficult baby - tongue tie, CMPA and was a massive crier. He would only settle when being held whilst walking around. People wondered how I'd lost the baby weight so quickly.

I don't know how I'm going yo cope but we have experience behind us. Even if we do have difficult babies, we know it WILL pass. I also see it as a massive investment in the future. I will be very happy when my kids are a little older, knowing I am content with my 2, so the difficult baby stage is something I just have to go through to get to that happy and content stage. And who knows, maybe we'll be lucky enough to have easy babies this time around.

Bellaphant · 14/12/2020 20:07

@FTMF30, that helped! Especially as I got a chippy tea (only thing I fancied) tool four bites and decided I didn't want it. I feel like such a child, so pathetic!

FTMF30 · 15/12/2020 11:57

@Bellaphant Ooh I would love to be able to have some chip shop chips.

I know the feeling. I STUPIDLY bought a quiche (a quiche!) at the supermarket the other day. I have no idea what on warth I was thinking. I put it in the oven and, when it was done, the stench alone set me off, never mind the fact it looked like vomit in a pastry case. I couldn't eat it.My baby brain has certainly set in!

Char899 · 15/12/2020 20:18

@FTMF30 the thought of quiche right now is making me queasy 😂

Went to Westfield to do some last minute Xmas shopping today and was doing really well until the car journey home where I felt so so sick. Got home and as soon as I walked in the door I had my head down the loo 🤢 been feeling so rough this evening I just want to go to bed!

Anyone else’s sickness improving yet?

popcorndiva · 15/12/2020 20:24

I haven't had a bad day with sickness. Nausea this morning but no sickness or diarrhea. Even managed to eat two small meals today without retching. Had my booking in appointment over the phone and going tomorrow for the bloods, wee sample etc

Will get my 12 week scan date too which makes it more real. My midwife who was lovely said currently partners can attend the 12 and 20 week scans

Bellaphant · 15/12/2020 20:30

I'd had a much better two days with sickness ( to the point I was worried, lol), got dinner out of the oven tonight and heaved my guts up!

I'm so tired too, clocked off work an hour early and just slept for two hours. Can't wait to go to my mum's next week and have some extra tlc!

FTMF30 · 15/12/2020 21:29

@char899 I honestly don't know what I was thinking.

Just seeing some comments on here, am I supposed to have bloods taken and a urine sample at my midwife appointment. I'm coming up to 8 weeks and just had one appointment where my height and weight was measured. Was asked a few questions then told to wait for my 12 week scan appointment in the post. I can't remember how things went with DC1.

Char899 · 15/12/2020 21:35

@FTMF30 I’ve still not had anything booked but with ds I had a midwife appointment at about 8/9 weeks where blood and urine were taken!
I spoke briefly to my midwife last week and she mentioned taking bloods at the appointment that should be booked soon hopefully so that makes sense. I’d say contact her and ask!

Bellaphant · 15/12/2020 21:35

Char hasn't even spoke to her midwife, and mine is on new year's eve, I'll be 10+2, and it's on the phone!! So I don't know how they are doing urine, bloods, weight...and I'll be super close to my 12 week...no word on scans yet either .

I'm worried BC last time my scan was delayed BC of Xmas and I ended up having it on the last legal day they can do the...nipp(?) Test.

Bellaphant · 15/12/2020 21:36

Sorry @Char899, you sniped me. Glad you spoke to someone!

Char899 · 15/12/2020 21:39

@Bellaphant yeah very briefly but she had no interest in booking anything or speaking with me until I was further along 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

FTMF30 · 15/12/2020 21:47

@Char899 My MW said I didn't need my bloods and urine taken at the first appointment and I thought that was wrong but second guessed myself. She seemed a bit blasé because I'd had a straight forward pregnancy before. Adding covid into the mix seems to also be adding to the slight neglect I'm feeling this time around.

@Bellaphant I wouldn't be happy with a phone appointment. It's all a bit worrying isn't it, how we're pretty much left to it. We shouldn't have to push for standard procedures to take place.

popcorndiva · 15/12/2020 22:22

I assume you need bloods done again as they check for any stds which obviously you could have in theory of caught in between having children. Urine is to check for urinary infections. They also do your blood pressure then too. Mine is at the hospital but one of my friends was told after her booking in to get it done at the gp about a week later but she lives in the North so its obviously different in every area.
