@LiG123 thanks I'm in that and the c section equiv so may start a thread as I'm really wavering now. I was so desperate for a waterbirth last time but then had to have planned section due to breech. Now this one is head down but potentially losing water (will know more tomorrow) and it's making me panic about the idea of a long labour - most of which will be on my own due to our local hospital restrictions - where I'm deemed high risk due to last section so am in/on/around a bed and stressed at the idea of having a tiny baby 😬

pigletpie2177 · 26/11/2020 18:15

As in prem. not just tiny. I wasn't as stressed until this latest issue 🙈

footprintsintheslow · 26/11/2020 21:00

@pigletpie2177 what is the c section page/thread?

LiG123 · 26/11/2020 23:07

@pigletpie2177 I'd go ahead with a post most people are Positive so it Might reassure you

pigletpie2177 · 26/11/2020 23:31

Sorry @footprintsintheslow just seen this - I've taken a screenshot so hopefully you'll be able to find it

@LiG123 I'll have a chat with consultant tomorrow and see how I'm feeling then, but will do that thank you x

pigletpie2177 · 26/11/2020 23:34

@footprintsintheslow just seen your other post and totally agree. I'd already said this time I was taking a bit more control of the visitor situation and wasn't going to have a constant stream of people like last time, when I was new to breastfeeding and my husband was a constant brew maker. Covid has at least given me an excuse to be anti-social!

WhoUsedMyName · 27/11/2020 10:12

Is anyone else still off work?
I've been off work since April and really wish now I'd just be waiting to go on maternity and looking forward to it but that's not the case and I'm just so bored. Have done so much Diy and cleaning it's unbelievable

Grumpy19 · 27/11/2020 11:17

Is anybody else stressing about pressure to have visitors over Christmas?

Skyla01 · 27/11/2020 11:25

@Grumpy19 I'm really looking forward to having a few close family members stay with us for a few days over Xmas. However already a bit worried about getting grumpy if I'm having a bad day or few. I'm glad in a way for lock down just now because means I don't have to plan very much. Some days I feel fine, but other days (like today) I've slept badly and now feel rubbish & nausea has come out of the blue. The joys! Very glad I'm WFH.

If you feel like you don't want visitors, I would just say so. Late pregnancy is a very good excuse. I'm going to play it by ear. I'll be 36wks by xmas so if I'm feeling increasingly rubbish I'll ask family to stay only 1 night / get DP to do all the cooking etc. If you're worried maybe warn family in advance that you might not want visitors at all? They have a month to get used to the idea!

Lollipop93 · 27/11/2020 11:41

Yeah I feel the pressure. After being careful all year. For example not very close to my sister in law and she lives in another town and not once seen her this whole year, I think now my mother in law etc after these new rules come in will want everyone to be together at Christmas. I don’t want to be going to big gatherings with people I haven’t even seen the whole year especially being in the third trimester where I really want to avoid getting the virus. No one seems to believe that pregnant women are still seen as vulnerable. So now I just feel like it’s all hanging over me not wanting to cause arguments if I say I don’t want to go to things...

footprintsintheslow · 27/11/2020 12:58

@Grumpy19 yes I'm quite nervous. We have my eldest daughter who lives in a shared house and works in a busy high street shop so quite a weak link for us.

The weather have my inlaws who seem to come and go as they please and ignore the rules when they want. Another weak link.

I also don't want to be slaving away for them at the stove. My husband will happily cook but equally I usually using hiding in the kitchen an excuse to not hang out with the inlaws making small talk and listening to right wing drivel.

footprintsintheslow · 27/11/2020 12:59

*we also have my inlaws

pigletpie2177 · 27/11/2020 14:13

Hi all, had my follow up scan this morning and amazing my waters have increased! Another check next week to be on the safe side but looks like it was either a false positive or they have resealed. Phew! Great new consultant who has gone through all pros and cons of vbac/section and I'm back on the side of the vbac (@Grumpy19 @LiG123) which is what I'd said before all this made me lose my nerve. Thanks all - hope all ok x

Woody096 · 27/11/2020 14:45

That’s really good news & hopefully alleviates the stress.

I had my growth scan today. Baby is measuring big at 4lbs at 31 weeks. Unfortunately my fluid levels have increased & crossed the severe threshold, so plan is weekly scans & likelihood is I will deliver at 34 weeks.

Consultant was excellent, realistic & informative so in the best hands really.

Grumpy19 · 27/11/2020 15:20

Yes, I know my inlaws will want to see us now the rules at Christmas have relaxed and that either means a house full here or packing up a load of stuff to go there! @footprintsintheslow, I'm exactly the same, my DH would do all the cooking but I'd want to escape to the kitchen anyway! (I think we have similar inlaws re right wing drivel!)

@Lollipop93 it's annoying that people don't realise that you really don't want covid in labour!! I have just about given up the school run to DH as people can't keep their distance!

@pigletpie2177 glad you had some good news! Fingers crossed for a lovely smooth VBAC.

@Woody096 glad your consultant was good. I seem to see someone different each time and it really can vary!

footprintsintheslow · 27/11/2020 18:18

@pigletpie2177 what a great outcome all round! Hooray and thank goodness.

@Woody096 that is so soon, are you managing to come to terms with that?

@Grumpy19 I've just said that I'm going to have a very serious chat with my eldest child about behaving well with the rules before the run up to Christmas. I'll be laying it on the line that their choices will put me and the baby at risk. I've had one late miscarriage and I don't want anything to jeopardise this at this stage.

But really my daughter will be ok board I'm just laying it on thick so he will do the same with his irresponsible parents. They can always choose not to come if they think it's over the top or too hard for them to follow the guidance for the weeks leading up to it.

loveacupoftea18 · 27/11/2020 21:13

Well my growth scan showed baby is breech at 36 weeks....

Any experiences in here? They've offered me an ECV but I feel very nervous about this and believe I have few contraindications anyway.

WhoUsedMyName · 27/11/2020 21:15

@loveacupoftea18 I'm sure there's still time for baby to turn. Do you have another scan in a week?

loveacupoftea18 · 27/11/2020 21:29

@WhoUsedMyName I do, yes. Am going to be doing a lot of crawling around on all fours as someone recommended to me!

WhoUsedMyName · 27/11/2020 21:31

A shame you can't go swimming because that can really turn them.
I'm guessing cart-wheels aren't practical 😂

Onekidnoclue · 27/11/2020 21:32

@loveacupoftea18 what an inconsiderate chap! I was advised by a dr friend that if you’re offered a ECV find out the success rate for the actual person doing the procedure. It varies massively. Some people have the knack. Some don’t. Find out the rate of the person doing it and decide if you like the ‘odds’.

@Woody096 so glad you have a good consultant. The one I saw today is a friend of a friend who I saw by coincidence but she's trying to keep me with her now. Makes all the difference when you trust someone. Are they giving you steroids or is baby big enough already? I had to have steroids as we were 50th but hoping to hold on now. What level is classed as severe?

@loveacupoftea18 my little boy was breech and I chose not to have ECV - I did a lot of bouncing on a yoga ball and dangling off the bed upside down (my best friends joked that was what got me into that mess in the first place haha) but he was stubborn. I ended up having planned c at 39+5. I grieved for the waterbirth I had wanted but the whole experience was fairly serene in the end and I had my baby in my arms within half an hour of it starting. So if they don't turn, you choose not to try, or they turn they turn back around, it will be ok. I'd say feel free to pm me but I have no idea how to access them via the app!

LiG123 · 27/11/2020 22:16

@loveacupoftea18 mine turnt when I was on hands and knees scrubbing the skirtings! I was told it works and though.... yea alright! But 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

loveacupoftea18 · 27/11/2020 22:52

Thanks @pigletpie2177 I'm wondering, if baby doesn't turn of own accord, whether actually a planned section would be better than I'm imagining. Only problem is baby is due Jan 1st so I don't really know when they'd do section as 39 weeks is Christmas Day Grin

I think they are going to wait for the next scan. Things changed a little today, another consultant reviewed my case & has now referred me to a fetal medicine specialist due to the high fluid. My AFI is 38 & anything over 35 is severe. I am trying not to panic about it.
