@poodlemum1

Congratulations and what a good weight he is, at 34 weeks. Sending all my love and best wishes to you

WhoUsedMyName · 25/11/2020 07:39

Oh @Poodlemum1 your making me emotional! Your voice will be enough for his comfort 💙

Poodlemum1 · 25/11/2020 13:02

I’m going to see him again soon after an unsettled night. Fingers crossed he seems to be stabilising his sugar since 7 am .
I can’t have a cuddle again today so we can have a chat and song again .
He can take his time if it means he will be healthy x

Grumpy19 · 25/11/2020 13:52

Enjoy your baby time @Poodlemum1.

I had a growth scan yesterday (after the midwife put me on the 95th percentile for fundal height last week!) According to the scan he is closer to the 50th percentile but I had a good chat with the consultant who agreed that if he was looking bigger at the next scan at 36 weeks they would start to plan to induce me at 39 weeks. I feel much better knowing that they are taking my concerns about having shoulder dystocia again seriously.

Loopyteddy · 25/11/2020 14:06

Hi everyone I hope you don't mind me joining in.
Second baby due on the 3rd Jan.
I am not feeling very organised at all this time.

pigletpie2177 · 25/11/2020 21:26

@Grumpy19 I had almost exactly the same thing - bump suggesting 97th centile but actually coming in at 50th on scan - confirmed my belief that my bump is actually 47% Jaffa cakes 🙈

Grumpy19 · 25/11/2020 21:43

@pigletpie2177 oh god yes! I have definitely eaten plenty of chocolate this pregnancy!! I'm only 4ft 10 though and fairy tiny so the idea of a big baby is 😱 DC2 was only 7lbs 10 but got shoulders stuck.

Hi @Loopyteddy this is my 4th but we have a gap of 7 years so we got rid of all our baby stuff!! Not sure if I'm organised or not. It seems to differ depending upon my mood! 😂

Onekidnoclue · 25/11/2020 22:05

@Poodlemum1 GORGEOUS! What a glorious surprise. Must be so hard to keep your hands off him. How are you doing with a name? Did you have one planned before?
Try to take some time to rest and recover. You’ve been through a lot and your body needs to heal. There are lots of people looking after your baby-you need to look after yourself. X

@Loopyteddy hello and welcome. I'm due the 10th but section looking likely on the 3rd, so we are sort of due date twins.

Poodlemum1 · 25/11/2020 22:11

@Onekidnoclue yes we had William picked before he was born.

He is taking small steps in the right direction I’ve been really upset tonight after seeing him . I just want my baby next to me and to be able to hold him.

I have to deal with the possibility that I might have to go home and he will stay in special care unit .
I really didn’t want that but we will see.

My husband and girls are at home wanting us all back together . So it’s all of us feeling anxious.
🥲

Onekidnoclue · 25/11/2020 22:19

@Poodlemum1 William is a lovely strong name.
It must be so tough for you. The idea of leaving a tiny baby is brutal even if logic says he’s in the best place getting the best care. I hope you can all go home together soon. X

@Poodlemum1 William means Strong! It's like you know. And I'm biased but it's the best name!

I have a growth scan tomorrow (had hypertension in previous pregnancy) and feel oddly concerned about it! Is it quite a quick and straightforward scan for those of you that have also had one?

Grumpy19 · 25/11/2020 23:26

Growth scans are really quick in my experience. Good luck with it.

pigletpie2177 · 25/11/2020 23:34

@loveacupoftea18 I had a growth scan last week at 31wk and it was quick - you see the midwives afterwards as they plot it (the sonographers didn't tell me anything) but I wasn't there any longer than any other scan.

@Grumpy19 hopefully nothing like this this time! I had a planned section last time as LB was breech and have been talking about vbac but I'm bottling it - all this talk about baby coming early and the COVID restrictions are making me think I'd rather have another section 😬

They're usually pretty quick. They just take some measurements to and usually let you listen to heartbeat. I had mine a few weeks ago and due another soon. Couldn't really tell what I was looking at on the screen to be honest as he's much bigger than previous scans
LiG123 · 26/11/2020 06:32

@loveacupoftea18 I am worried about my growth scan next week too

@Grumpy19 I'm going for a vbac. The covid guidelines are making me want it more!

pigletpie2177 · 26/11/2020 08:49

@LiG123 good luck for your growth scan - I have my second tomorrow though it's really to monitor my fluid now as they seem happy baby is 50th. Can I ask you why COVID makes your want vbac not section? I've felt the opposite (particularly when they are talking about baby potentially coming v early) as I feel a bit like I've lost all control - but I'd love to hear why it's had the opposite impact on you incase it helps my brain stop whirring!

loveacupoftea18 · 26/11/2020 09:15

Thanks for the reassurance all, very helpful!

LiG123 · 26/11/2020 10:22

@pigletpie2177 if you have Facebook I have found this group really encouraging for a vbac.

From what I have been told you will be in hospital longer with c section. Babies via section are more likely to have lung issues with fluid etc and covid attacks the lungs.

These were my main reasons. I had over a hour app with a vbac midwife who made me feel really happy about my choice too.

Grumpy19 · 26/11/2020 11:38

Hi. Just to add, my second VBAC I was out of hospital 10 hours after giving birth. My first was a bit longer due to the shoulder dystocia.
I really want another VBAC and the midwife at the hospital has told me they will definitely be trying to get me out within the 6 hours so I'll stay in the labour room with DH till discharge which I'm really keen on.

LiG123 · 26/11/2020 12:13

@Grumpy19 yes within 6 hours they said here too 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Hoping for us both!

Grumpy19 · 26/11/2020 14:11

Yes. Fingers crossed. My youngest is most anxious about me being away for too long.

Lollipop93 · 26/11/2020 16:03

How’s everyone feeling about the restrictions easing over Christmas. Do you think this is bad timing for our due dates in January with the potential of a spike or do u think we will just miss it?

footprintsintheslow · 26/11/2020 18:13

My thoughts are January will be tough for everyone and lockdown will be stricter than currently. I'm trying to be positive and think 'well I don't want to go out anywhere in the freezing cold with a newborn' and also after my toddler was born we had 29 visitors the day after I came out. At least this way I won't have to see anyone.

It is a shame for close family though and I understand this will make things hard for people.
