Anybody know if this is normal as dont think have had this before.

Mucus plug lost followed by dark brown discharge???? Doesnt go away. Was even coming out in the bath!

WhoUsedMyName · 14/01/2021 13:55

@PopsicleHustler completely normal hun think it's your bloody show coming in stages

pigletpie2177 · 14/01/2021 14:17

@WhoUsedMyName ahh hate the idea that you would spend the day in tears. Hormones do not help during the first few days either 😔 have you spoken to the specialist yet? (Sorry if I've missed that update!) I hope they give you some answers, and if tt they can get it sorted. Bit of formula won't go amiss in the meantime, fed is best right? Are you able to express at all?

WhoUsedMyName · 14/01/2021 14:22

@pigletpie2177 I think I hit a wall yesterday because I was only bf I havnt been able to hand him over to dh and nights drag when your the only one awake don't they. Also I'm homeschooling four dc it has been draining, dh at work and no one can come over to lend a hand becaus or these weird times then ds had lost more weight I had a mini melt down. But have been feeding, expressing and formula so I will update you Monday. But your right I was beating myself up and a fed baby is right ☺️thank you xx

pigletpie2177 · 14/01/2021 14:56

@WhoUsedMyName I totally get it, I had a totally meltdown in the hospital last time when they wanted to top him up - I was sobbing about it and only afterwards (once those first few days hormones and exhaustion had calmed) did I realise that was not me failing and it was totally fine. We fed for two years without doing it again, but this time I'm hoping to be more rational - probably won't happen! I'm in awe of people who can express well - I was always rubbish at it ☺️ do keep us updated, if my sweep works I might have a new arrival myself by then and you can talk me down off the ceiling ha

footprintsintheslow · 14/01/2021 15:51

Expressing is the devils work and I don't entertain the idea now. I'm in awe of anyone who can do it.

My nipples are agony here. I've been advised to look up the flipple technique on YouTube if that helps anyone?!

God yes!!!! Pumping is the worst thing I’ve ever done. The grunting haunts me now. Hats off to anyone who can manage it.

I just thought it was me!!! I can't express more than 2 ounces at a time and I see other people with a fridge load and there freezer doors won't even shut like some kind of milk goddesses 😩

pigletpie2177 · 14/01/2021 22:02

Absolutely agree. The only time I got anything decent was at 5am. I'm going to try again this time as I've agreed to SPL with DH so we will need some freezer stash for months 9-12 at least, if we get that far. Obviously only good for 6m in the freezer but I'm thinking best to try from relatively early on.

WhoUsedMyName · 14/01/2021 22:05

I'm gonna fill you in with abit tmi but my piles are soooooo painful right now I've used suppositories and cream and I feel like a baboon there's no give . Ive tried my jeans on and the belly/vag combo thing is not working for me it's kind of like I've put my bum on back to front and a lot loser!!! You keep them bumps whilst you can I didn't think I'd ever have bump envy lol

WhoUsedMyName · 14/01/2021 22:07

I had a great plan for a milk stash but I'm just about pumping enough for top ups currently. I hope you can do better fingers toes and nipples crossed for you

Onekidnoclue · 15/01/2021 07:31

I love an over share! My piles are bad now. God knows what’s state they’ll be next week. Read a post on here comparing them to arse testicles and that feels fair. They’re so rubbish. If you find anything that works let me know.

Thank you everyone! 💙

@footprintsintheslow I'm doing OK thanks, apart from my spd didn't vanish after birth like I was told it would, if anything it is even worse now and really getting me down as it takes me so long to do anything for baby 😞 so glad husband has paternity but already dreading the day he goes back.

I am with you girls on the piles, midwife came out yesterday and I was like "I think my bum is inside out" 🙈😂 so she checked for me and reassured me it wasn't but omg I didn't know they could get so bad. I'm getting by just with the cream at the moment but any other ways to soothe them please share!

Jcmummy32 · 15/01/2021 08:30

Ladies... None of my sweeps worked and I’m being induced in 4hrs! Anyone got any positive experiences they can tell me about :(

MCR2021 · 15/01/2021 08:39

Hey guys. Been knocking around since the first thread in May but I managed to lock myself out my account so had to make a new one (I was SkylinesTurnstiles if anyone has a good memory!).
Hope you are all doing good and congrats to those whose babies are already here- they’re beautiful!
I had a rotten headache all day yesterday and luckily my mum told me to check my blood pressure which was high. Called triage and got seen and turns out I have preeclampsia.
I had a ballon fitted last night so will be seeing at half 10 whether it’s done emojis to break my waters.
This is my first baby so safe to say I’m shitting it a little! She is due Sunday but even coming 2 days early via induction feels a bit daunting!
@Jcmummy32 if you are having the balloon I can’t say whether it’s worked yet however the fitting process was quite uncomfortable but once in there you can’t really feel it. (Apart from the big tube hanging out of you lol).
Xx

Lollipop93 · 15/01/2021 08:56

Aw good luck ladies with your inductions. Let us know how you get on. So exciting you will be meeting your babies soon.

I’m due on Sunday. Had an unsuccessful sweep last week. Baby is moving more than ever, like they want to escape through my belly button rather than going the right way. I have an appointment on Monday will be 40+1. Getting fed up and really didn’t want to be induced but I feel like I might need to because I don’t want to wait too long and the baby being too big to deliver. My first was already 7pounds14 and she as born just before her due date, so I’m assuming this one will be bigger and god knows how big if I wait till the last min to be induced!!

oliveroses · 15/01/2021 08:59

@Lollipop93 mine seems pretty sure that the way out is through my belly button too. Silly baby!

PopsicleHustler · 15/01/2021 09:14

@Onekidnoclue sorry to hear you're suffering so bad with piles. What a nightmare. Hope you can get sorted soon
I really struggled with my last baby going for a poo. I dreaded it every time and would take me ages as it felt like I had glass shards down there. Was horrific. And because I was scared and reluctant to go for a poo, I would be constipated for days on end which was no good. It got better after a couple of weeks. Hope you feel better soon.

Update on my crappy situation:

So today marks a week, yes ladies a week, of slow latent phase labour and tomorrow marks a week of going hospital to discover am only 2cm. Everyday I think is the day. Evening they ramp up more. Am absolutely fed up. Lots of lightening crotch pains and pressure down there, to the point sometimes I cannot walk. Top of my thighs ache and walking around the house and up and down the stairs has done zero.
Went to hospital yesterday as had lost my mucus plug earlier this week. And for past two days I had been having awful dark brown gloopy discharge. Was concerned and phoned labour ward, they said to come on in so they can check and make sure baby is ok. Baby was fine. Heartbeat good. The dark brown discharge was old blood following my mucus plug. I was concerned it could be meconium but all is well. Went home and from there on was having strong contractions and unbelievable pressure all evening and during the night. Contractions are still 7 to 8 and sometimes 10 to 20 mins apart. Fed up of it now.

Considering this is my 5th baby, you would have thought it would be all done with. I am utterly fed up of pain and sickness. Just been keeping up my faith and praying for God to make it easy for me.

Hoping also that because I have had a slow latent phase labour, that actual established labour will be faster
But hopefully not too fast. I have a very low pain threshold. I dont want to be in a state of agony and all that jazz in the car on the way there.
Also have my 40 weeks appointment today so going to see what the midwife suggests but she told me on the phone on tuesday they csnt give me a sweep until 41 weeks which I find rather odd.

Just got to get through this , knowing I will have my beautiful daughter at the end!.

We are going to call her Halima. Pronounced Ha lee ma. It's an Arabic name :)

Hows everyone else coming along ?

PopsicleHustler · 15/01/2021 09:14

Sorry for the essay and the tmi on my discharge, ladies!

oliveroses · 15/01/2021 09:34

@PopsicleHustler hope it all speeds up for you! You must be so ready to meet the baby. My midwife had planned to give me a sweep at 40 weeks so maybe there's some wiggle room here!x

Lollipop93 · 15/01/2021 09:36

@oliveroses it’s so frustrating haha. I just want to rest this morning and have a nap as didn’t have a good sleep last night and the he or she won’t stop moving!

@PopsicleHustler so sorry to hear you are still in this latent phase. I would have thought your fifth baby would be quick, just shows these babies just come when they like. Your story sounds similar to me but I wouldn’t say I’m in latent phase as it’s just Brixton hicks I’m having I think. I think I lost a bit of my mucus plug last week after the sweep but still nothing, it is so draining waking up every day thinking so it didn’t happen again... But I have a lot of pressure and lightning crotch etc. Hopefully they can give you a sweep to get you started. How much longer for all of us 😭

WhoUsedMyName · 15/01/2021 10:24

@PopsicleHustler I'm gutted for you that your having such a bloody awful time like you say especially with no 5 but I guess every baby is different I just hope that you will have such an easy birth and that's why your getting the hard bit out the way now. Really odd about the sweep situation I was aloud mine at 38 weeks and this is 5th baby too. Could you see another mw anywhere?

VeeVeeBee77 · 15/01/2021 10:48

40+1 so officially late. Last night's curry didn't work, so it's going to be a walk/waddle around the garden this afternoon to see if that does the trick. Getting fed up with never being comfortable, as well as thinking is every movement a sign or just nothing?

pigletpie2177 · 15/01/2021 11:29

Hi all,

Last day at work today (39wk exactly) and just had a sweep this morning but was told my cervix wasn't particularly "favourable" (who comes up with these terms!?) and he only got a fingertip in 🤢 unlikely that it will trigger much on that basis - booked another one for due date.

Looking forward to finishing work as I'm so bloody tired now. It's basically a desk job (or has been during lockdown) and I'm wfh so I'm happy I made the right decision to take it to the wire but the idea of putting my feet up and watching Netflix is appealing now! Need to spend some quality time with my 3 yo before his nose is out totally out of joint by new arrival too!

@PopsicleHustler I'm so sorry this is still going 😩 you are amazing!

@WhoUsedMyName how you feeling today lovely?x

@MCR2021 guessing you are near me with that name ☺️ good luck to both you and @Jcmummy32 with the inductions!

Onekidnoclue · 15/01/2021 12:50

Good luck to @Jcmummy32 and @MCR2021. The best labour I know of was an induction! Started at 10pm and baby at 3am. Calm ordered. No tears no panic and then everyone went to sleep!!! Honestly it’s the one I’m most envious of! Hope it’s just like that for your guys. X
