I have done a few 'long' walks the last few days which have given me BH but nothing else. Even the pink mucusy discharge has vanished. Starting to accept I will have to wait for my induction date. Just feel a bit sad I won't get to experience spontaneous labour again. Third induction out of 4 babies!!

footprintsintheslow · 03/01/2021 18:20

I made a massive mistake last night. We had a take away curry... huge treat for us. I totally overdid it and was in agony all night with heart burn and general fullness. Couldn't get comfortable in any position.

Had to sleep sitting up to breath! What a pig. Bloody delicious though but half portions for me from now on.

Lollipop93 · 03/01/2021 20:39

@footprintsintheslow aw that’s the worst! It’s soooo tempting to eat it all but we defo pay for it later. Nothing worse than tossing and turning all night and not being able to get comfy. Sometimes sitting up is the only way.

How long has everyone else got? I’m due two weeks today and starting to get a bit nervous. I’m trying to keep calm and know that it’s sort of out of my control but just really hope it all goes ok.

oliveroses · 03/01/2021 21:48

@footprintsintheslow I keep doing this! I am awake most of the night til about 4 at the moment but I love my tasty food. Someone told me the heartburn goes away as soon as baby is here, I hope so! I am so windy too during the day, it's ridiculous. So glad I am wfh but maybe the mic picks it up anyway 😕

@Lollipop93 I'm due 2 days after you I think. Some days it feels real, other days totally abstract, even with bump. People keep asking me how long I'll be in hospital for. Is this a normal question - I have no idea!?!

footprintsintheslow · 03/01/2021 23:04

@oliveroses don't mention wind...blowing a Gale in this house.

As for hospital, I've been told we are all out within 24 hours, 48 max with a c section! Unless of course you need help or have complications.

PollyOaks · 03/01/2021 23:57

I'm due 14th but have a scan on Friday so hoping he waits until after then.. Can't see him coming any time soon though no symptoms at all and I've still got the heartburn which tells me he's still not fully engaged 😩 I'm in the super uncomfortable stage now can hardly walk, sit or stand feel like my belly button is gonna burst open or my pelvis is going to shatter 🙈

PopsicleHustler · 04/01/2021 08:26

How are we all getting on ladies?

Anyone in my boat? Spaced out contractions and thinking today is the day?!
What are we all doing in terms of childcare if you have more than one child ?
And hospital bags and snacks bags ready to go.

I'm 38 weeks today! Whoop whoop.

Hope all is well with you ladies x

PopsicleHustler · 04/01/2021 08:28

Oh my goodness Pollyoaks@pollyoaks

I feel the same. However her head is very low. It was unbearable lastnight. When I got back into bed after going for a wee I thought I was going to have her there and then. Always feel like my belly is going to burst.
I waddle everywhere too.

Onekidnoclue · 04/01/2021 09:20

Oh how exciting! I feel weeks away. No show. No cramps. Massive constipation and he’s mega high. Off to buy raspberry leaf tea!

@PopsicleHustler
This will be my second and tbh I have no idea what’s going on... I mean it feels like they are low down coz I get really sharp pains down below with movement. I’ve not felt like period pain contractions spaced out but I get like a tightenings I presume are braxton hicks? The plan is if it happens during the night to the point I need to go to hospital straight away my in laws who live two kind away going to come to ours and sit with the toddler so we don’t need to wake her and if it is during the day we will just drop her in to my parents or DH parents whenever I start to feel them more regular. Even though it’s my second I still feel like what am I waiting on and when should I leave for hospital coz it’s an hour away😂😭

I bought some of those big nappy change/pee the bed size pads that u can put in the car if my water breaks (very practical lol, but after last time I didn’t realise how much water kept on coming)

Hospital bags are all packed. I have a pull along Case for my stuff and using a skip and hop large changing bag for baby as I realised after last time my husband could just bring that in after birth saves us carrying about loads of stuff like last time. I’m also going to make a spare one for the car with spares of everything as last time I was in for a week.

Anyone got any tips on hospital bag items, what to wear if in labour in the car etc haha ideally I would want to wear no bottoms on but as it is like the Arctic out there I don’t know if that is daft? Lol

38+1

VeeVeeBee77 · 04/01/2021 11:04

May as well move into the bathroom the amount of time I'm spending in there at the moment! 38+3, head engaged and my bladder is definitely feeling it. Bags all packed so just playing the waiting game now.

@Lollipop93 I hadn't even considered that but there's no way I can go out in this weather without trousers on! That and I've got to get a taxi to the hospital as we don't have a car (hasn't been a problem the rest of the pregnancy, walked it in the early stages and now take the bus when I need to go up there)

Tink20058 · 04/01/2021 11:49

I’m 38+2 and soooo ready went in 2 nights ago with contractions was getting them 5 mins apart but still only 1cm dilated I almost cried when they sent me back home and they have been on and off since due stretch and sweep next Monday but labour ward told me to ring midwife to see if I can get in at the end of this week, it’s like I just need a jump start to get things moving xx

Grumpy19 · 04/01/2021 12:34

Lots of nesting for me. My poor children can't wait to get back to school tomorrow for a rest! 😂

I am on the toilet every 15 mins but only managing a tiny dribble so thinking he is pretty low. Loads of back pain and a few random contractions which feel way, way more painful than just Braxton hicks. I also woke up with period pains in he night.
Induction Wednesday so I'm hoping that at least I'll just need tipping over the edge into labour rather than a sledge hammer to the cervix!
It's all getting very exciting.

Onekidnoclue · 04/01/2021 15:53

Just packed my hospital bag, one for the baby and one for DS as he’ll need to go to a friends house!
Only ‘odd’ things in my bag are a water bottle and an extra long phone charger. The rest is stuff off the list in the handheld notes. Wardrobe wise I’m going to mainly be in trackies or pj bottoms. Both are dark colours and look ok to the untrained eye so I can wear them in and out with impunity! Also I’m not taking any knickers. I’ve got a pack of tena lady pants which I found loads better than pads and pants last time. I was shit scared the sticky but on the pad would shift and stick to my stitches plus the tena pants are reassuringly vast!

Tink20058 · 04/01/2021 16:43

Do you think my community midwife will do a membrane sweep if we go into full lockdown? I’m worried now, also I bought the tena lady pants too for my case thought would be better than pads a knickers xx

Onekidnoclue · 04/01/2021 17:56

Think it depends @Tink20058 I’m seeing midwives at a dedicated maternity hospital so they carry on regardless (or have done so far). I think if you’re at a maternity wing of a regular hospital they might look at how busy the hospital is first.

So I'm now panicking that my hospital will change rules on inductions and birth partners!! Going in this Wednesday 😭 Really freaking out now!!

Bambam2019 · 04/01/2021 21:28

I’m worried about hospital rules too, also gutted family and friends won’t be able to meet my baby (but the ones who work in a nursery baby room can look after 12 others a day...!)

LouiseT12 · 05/01/2021 00:54

Hey ladies! Been secretly reading your messages for the past week now. Thought I'd join in on the chat seeing as it's my due date tomorrow! (Or today actually pat midnight now!) FTM here! Haven't a clue what signs to look for for early labour however I was suffering with back pains yesterday and now I've been having period pains but they are very mild and haven't seen to be getting worse so not sure if it's a sign or not! Seeing my midwife on Thursday for a stretch and sweep so 🤞 that might kick start it!

LouiseT12 · 05/01/2021 00:55

I wouldn't worry too much about it. They didn't tighten restrictions in the 2nd lockdown so I think they will keep things the same
PopsicleHustler · 05/01/2021 06:03

Good morning, lovely ladies.

Ahhh, so for the past two weeks been having back pain and period cramping and somewhat intense Braxton hicks.

Yesterday, I was having super strong Braxton hicks throughout the day. But didnt do much about them as I have been having them since 18 or so weeks.

Last night, roughly 7.15 the Braxton hicks were still coming however the pain was there too (the tightening pain) along with the contractions. Downloaded a contractions timer app and had 10 in the space of an hour and a half. Had them up until about half 11. Took some paracetamol. Told my Dh before he left for night shift, we will probably have the baby tomorrow. Text my aunt, whom is having the children to let her know the situation. But guess what, the contractions have stopped lol. Honestly cannot believe it. Have pretty much slept a good six hours and no contractions woke me up.

Grrrrrrrrrr!
I was literally on the verge of thinking it wont be long until I tell my Dh to come home from work sonwe could shoot off to the hospital. Now I am just sat here feeling extremely weak and hungry.
Was really hoping I was at the finishing line

However, in saying that , my body does long labours. This is our 5th child as I am sure I have mentioned countless times before, every baby bar our 2nd has been 2 weeks slow labour beforehand and either 1 and a half days or a 2 day labour. So I really dont know what is going on.....

Currently 38 plus 1. .....

footprintsintheslow · 05/01/2021 06:49

@PollyOaks god it can be so miserable at the end. What's your Friday scan for?

@PopsicleHustler we have a variation of options for childcare and none are ideal or very practical. Will have to wait and see what happens and if it's an induction or not.
I did have two contractions yesterday that were painful so quickly packed my bags which are mainly snacks tbh.

@Grumpy19 how you going to Siena your last day before induction?

@LouiseT12 welcome to the thread and good luck!

@PopsicleHustler how disappointing but you are on your way for sure. Even if it's the start of a long labour you've started!

PopsicleHustler · 05/01/2021 08:26

@footprintsintheslow

I really need to get cracking on a snack bag. Labour ward at my hospital do not feed you. It's actually rather pitiful. I even remember having to ask for basic such as water.
So will be loading up the pringles, bottles of oasis and bottle of water and anything Cadburys I can get my hands on! What's in your snack bag??!!!

As for the long labours, I really hope it is the start.
My last baby was 32 hours and I pretty much laboured at home. I had contractions in the night and morning. They were regular but breathable. Then by night they had sort of filtered out. However walking up and down the stairs made them increase again. Currently in the bath. So after I have had my breakfast and done some home learning plans with my other children. I'm going to walk round the house and up and down those stairs and see if that speeds things up!!!!!

Really would like to have her soon. I'm sick and exhausted all the time. Would be great also not to have to go to the toilet one million times a day !!!

Anyone else also feel constantly dehydrated? I am thirsty all the time!

LouiseT12 · 05/01/2021 08:54

Mainly at night I feel dehydrated! I also suffer really bad with hay fever symptoms at night so much so it's stopping me from sleeping! Has anyone else suffered with this before and then it goes after baby is here?

What type of snacks do people take to hospital? I still need to nip to shop to fill my snack bag!

My hospital has released information on birth partners etc after the announcement of another lockdown and nothing has changed! Still can't be with you during triage but anything af tree r that they are with you which is a relief!

footprintsintheslow · 05/01/2021 08:56

@PopsicleHustler god no food being offered is tough. When I got induced the one midwife allowed me to eat and made us tea and when they changed over the new one said nil by mouth. Total trauma for me!

In my bag is chocolate, Pringles, cuppa soup, posh pot noodle, nuts and general weird treats. I'm a vegan (not a knobhead though) and my friend sent me a little hamper of goodies which I've saved. I also need to pack milk and butter at the last minute for the all important post birth tea and toast. I have to assume there will be no food for me which is fine but I can't cope with hunger.

Now get up and down those stairs! We need a baby on this thread.
