@Grumpy19 @pigletpie2177 @WhoUsedMyName @198435years

Thank you so much for your messages. I apologise for a late response. Things are finally settling down and I have had the time to come onto the forums.

I had a beautiful little boy on 18 Dec. It was a very long, stressful and traumatic labour and delivery. You already know that my induction was booked for 17 Dec. They had initially told me that they would use a foley balloon to induce me and I will be sent home after getting it fixed till it comes out but when I went there I was told that I wouldn't be allowed to go home at all as balloon foley won't work on me because I was only 37 weeks. They still tried to fit the balloon in first (just to try) but that didn't work. They then used a propess pessary and told me that it would take 24-36 hours to work. How wrong were they! My contractions started within half an hour of getting the propess fixed. The worst part was that the contractions came on extremely strong ... straight from 0 to 60 and just got stronger. By midnight I was screaming in pain as the contractions were coming every 10 seconds. They wouldn't hold for long...would just go up instantly and drop down. I was literally dying of pain and begged them to allow me to call my husband to hold my hand or something. The offer which was brutally rejected. I was given Pethidine which didn't work. They then checked the dilation twice and confirmed that I was 3cm and could be taken to the labour ward to get the waters broken. Was wheeled into the ward around 3am and was then able to call the hubby. When they checked the dilation there I was told that I am 'not even 1cm and the other midwife must have made a mistake when she checked it to be 3cm'. Still they said they would try to break the waters. They tried three times. It was a success on the third try using stirrups. Then I was given an epidural and hormone drip which was supposed to expedite things but it didn't. No dilation was achieved using the drip. I was only 2cm after 12 hours. The only thing the drip did was distress my baby. His heartbeat caused great concern since the start of putting the drip. It used to dip down and come back up and then go erratic. I happened a lot of times and by the evening, I had a team of doctors around my bed making a decision of an emergency c-section to save the baby as his heartbeat and stopped picking up. They still wanted to try another couple of hours on the drip but by that time me and my husband pushed for a c-section as the baby was just not happy. They very quickly wheeled me into the theatre and agreed that it was the right decision for the situation.
Baby was born weighing 5.68lbs. He had jaundice and we then had to stay in the hospital for further 3 days for his treatment. We are home now and just getting settled.

@WhoUsedMyName
Congratulations for the beautiful baby!! So happy for you!! 💕

Grumpy19 · 30/12/2020 16:34

@MnM156 so, so pleased you are home safely!! I've been thinking about you!
Sounds like you had a really difficult time if it and hope you are getting lots of tlc and rest. Congratulations xx

oliveroses · 30/12/2020 16:39

Blimey @MnM156 - you are so brave! Congratulations and I'm just glad you are home with your boy!x

Grumpy19 · 30/12/2020 16:40

Also, @MnM156, your labour sounds very much like my first.
Induced on the Saturday, he didn't arrive till Tuesday. He was back to back and nobody realised. Pethedine wouldn't touch it. I had a bitch of a mw who told me I had to stay on the bed and use a bed pan if I needed the loo. DS got stuck and on the Tuesday morning they realised he was in serious trouble and I had a emergency c section.

My DC2 and DC3 were very, very easy labours in comparison so don't let it put you off if you want future children. Xx

WhoUsedMyName · 30/12/2020 18:09

Thank you @MnM156 I'm sorry you had such a terrible time. Glad your both well xx

Onekidnoclue · 30/12/2020 19:13

@MnM156 congratulations on your baby. I’m sorry it was such a traumatic entry into the world but sounds like he’s a tough cookie.
Do you have a name? I hope you’re recovering well. Is feeding ok?

@MnM156 I was holding my breath reading that - sounds horrendous! So glad you are all home safely. I'd be tempted to raise this with PALS at your hospital - procedures don't always go to plan but you can at least expect some compassion whilst you're there :-(

Bubbabee · 30/12/2020 22:41

Congratulations ladies with beautiful babies. 39 weeks today and still no signs no show no nothing. I am struggling to walk and sleep but still no baby. Got a sweep tomorrow x

Bubbabee · 30/12/2020 22:45

@MnM156 congratulations.. what a superwoman you are 😘 so glad you and baby are ok. I would be raising a complaint most definitely x

pigletpie2177 · 30/12/2020 22:50

@ttcchapter1 sorry I missed your message earlier - ahh love having a date twin! My SIL is actually due the day after me weirdly, albeit is on the other side of the world and is scheduling a c section so we'll see who comes first!

Which RLT did you get? There are a few options so happy to take recommendations if you've found a good one!x

ttcchapter1 · 30/12/2020 22:56

@pigletpie2177 it was this one!

Im being induced on the 14th of January so trying to help it go as smoothly as possible 🤞🏼

Anyone totally bored of being pregnant? I feel shitty saying it but I’m done. I want this baby out! Perhaps today wouldn’t be the best birthday though 🥴

@Onekidnocluee, It's so hard at the end isn't it! I've had quite a lot of pink mucusy discharge (sorry tmi) the last few days but I very much doubt anything will happen before my induction date on 6th as I'm only 37 + 1 now. It feels like such a tease though!
I really would love to go naturally into labour though.

Onekidnoclue · 31/12/2020 21:35

I think from tomorrow I’m going to start on project ‘get baby out’ on the dates, raspberry tea and perhaps end on DH!

I have discharge envy @Grumpy19 ! I haven’t had a hint of anything! He’s still high up too.

So crazy that we're entering January 😬🤞🏼 cant quite believe my induction is in 14 days! Heres hoping for smooth labours for those of us left!

oliveroses · 31/12/2020 23:58

@Grumpy19 @Onekidnoclue I have envy too! My bump is still high and it feels like baby's arms and legs are just everywhere. Not a trace of anything going on other than endless heartburn. I also bought some tea and have dates in the cupboard. Mw has offered me a sweep on due date but that's not for a little while yet ...

footprintsintheslow · 01/01/2021 08:16

@WhoUsedMyName he looks absolutely perfect how are you doing now? What was the expected birth weight going from growth scans?

@MnM156 you sound traumatised to be honest as would anyone. Do you know you can ask for someone to talk through the birth with you and explain the decisions that were made.

So hello January!!! Here's hoping we all have healthy births soon.
Shall we start a list a due dates so we can see who's who? We can copy and paste abs add to it in date order.

@Footprintsintheslow 10th Jan

Grumpy19 · 01/01/2021 09:40

@Grumpy19 6th Jan (induction date)
