How is everyone getting on? Any signs of impending labour yet? Xx

Bubbabee · 12/12/2020 23:04

Hi all, can I join this thread. Congratulations mammas to be ❤️. I'm due 6th Jan. anybody else scared to go in to labour. My third pregnancy, 2nd child but still scared as hell

footprintsintheslow · 13/12/2020 08:14

@198435years my god what an ordeal for you all. The nhs are bloody wonderful, what would do without them!? Are you going back and for the hospital every day? That must be exhausting and pumping milk too. Do you have good support?

@Woody096 wow that sounds incredibly painful. Have they said you can definitely have a section? Can't see why they can't give you a date to focus on and aim toward.

Re: vitamin D. My understanding is that exclusively breast fed babies need extra vitamin d via drops in their mouth. This is new compared to my eldest child...but they are 21! My toddler had the drops though although I can't honestly say I gave them every day religiously. Also advice in my area differs depending on which HV you have. But i asked my HV to clarify this and it means the HV isn't giving out current info if they don't tell you need drops when breastfeeding.

@MnM156 good luck for your induction, I'll be thinking of you.

@Tink20058 welcome along and congratulations also hello @Bubbabee I'm
Due on the 3rd and feel calm but alert of that makes sense. No signs of labour yet.

Lollipop93 · 13/12/2020 08:16

@Bubbabee yeah this is my second and I’m petrified. Even more this time because I was in ignorant bliss last time I think. Need to just keep reminding myself I can’t control what happens and just take each moment as it comes. just hoping it goes better than last time. And if it can’t be better then just hoping it’s not worse haha.

oliveroses · 13/12/2020 09:21

Re: vit D, I just had a call with the HV on thurs and she said exactly what @footprintsintheslow said, if that helps x

oliveroses · 13/12/2020 09:32

@198435years thank you for the update and hope you are all doing well - thinking of you and hope Eve will be home soon x

MnM156 · 13/12/2020 13:15

@footprintsintheslow

Thanks a lot. I will update you all how it goes. I have a Covid test tomorrow at the hospital antenatal ward. It is compulsory before the induction. Somehow I am not very scared of the induction or giving birth. Maybe because it's my first baby and I have no idea what to expect. I have read a lot about how painful inductions are etc etc but I still cannot imagine how much worse it can be. Maybe it's one of the benefits of being a FTM...I wouldn't know anything unless I go through it.

MnM156 · 13/12/2020 13:16

@198435years

Thanks a lot for your advice. I will make sure to discuss that with my midwives when I go in for the induction. How are you and Eve?? Hope things are getting better everyday!

Grumpy19 · 13/12/2020 14:10

Good luck @MnM156. Hope it all goes lovely and smoothly and am looking forward to updates x

footprintsintheslow · 13/12/2020 14:28

@MnM156 I've had three births and the inductions was honestly 'my favourite' if there can be such a thing lol. I hope this birth is the same.

Bubbabee · 13/12/2020 15:26

@Lollipop93 I'm just scared I don't know what to expect. I've felt very strange today too. I'm scared x

Grumpy19 · 13/12/2020 15:31

Hi @Tink20058 and @Bubbabee. I think it's a bit like limbo at this stage of pregnancy! Not quite ready to give birth but getting fed up of being pregnant now.
I've had lots of dull back ache today but I'm only 34 +4 so not looking for labour signs yet

Tink20058 · 13/12/2020 15:35

I have lost little parts of my mucus plug last week and getting some tightenings So hoping i won’t go over xx

198435years · 13/12/2020 15:37

@MnM156 the inductions were fine. To me felt like bad period pains and bump tightenings and then was whisked away for the c section.

I've just been discharged and had to leave Eve in neo natal. I'm so upset right now, it's the hardest thing but I know it's the best place for her. Stupid covid rules mean only one parent can visit at a time and once a day. When you're on the ward you can't leave and come bk. But also I can't drive because of the c section so not quite figured out the logistics of my visiting yet xx

WhoUsedMyName · 13/12/2020 19:35

I'm 36 weeks today have a growth scan tomoz let's hope he's not an elephant

footprintsintheslow · 13/12/2020 19:38

I'm 36 weeks today too. Good luck for tomorrow, let us know how it goes.

pigletpie2177 · 13/12/2020 19:55

@198435years I'm so sorry that's really hard. Fingers crossed she doesn't have to stay long. She sounds like a little fighter.

I had another scan and consultant meeting on Friday at 34 weeks. They wouldn't do growth as they did it the week before but they are now happy I'm not losing my waters. As the last two growth scans showed baby going from 50th to 30th percentile they want to do another next week to make sure all ok - on the face of it they think one must have been wrong as everything else looks fine. If I'm back on track they are going to leave me alone for a few weeks but have talked about sweep at 38/39 weeks and induction thereafter so interested in your last comment @footprintsintheslow - I never had the sweep/induction talks last time due to baby being breech. I had heard it sends you from 0-60 quickly so was wavering a bit!

footprintsintheslow · 13/12/2020 19:58

@pigletpie2177 I've heard it's very fast too and for me it was about three hours. The same as my natural labour. I bet everyone is different and normally you don't have a choice.

Where everyone is the same, is just wanting the best for the baby and I focused on that and didn't bother with a birth plan as just did what I was told ....which is quite unlike me normally.

WhoUsedMyName · 13/12/2020 20:18

@footprintsintheslow snap!
I will keep you posted Grin

MeganC104 · 14/12/2020 10:58

A bit of a TMI question but is it possible discharge or mucus plug can be light green and not be infection?

I've had a very small amount of snot coloured, more jelly like than regular discharge. Everywhere I've read it says green is a sign of infection so I immediately called midwife but she says just keep an eye on it and I don't need to get it checked. So can green be ok sometimes?

WhoUsedMyName · 14/12/2020 12:55

I've never had it personally like that @MeganC104 but if your mw isn't worried I wouldn't be really could just be discharge and not plug at all

WhoUsedMyName · 14/12/2020 12:57

Bodies are crazy and so many changes going on i smelt like garlic for abit! Yes garlic from my vagina 😂 which is sign of infection but can also be a pregnancy symptom I had all tests no infection and it went away itself

xsxsxsxs · 14/12/2020 15:55

My armpits ALWAYS smell these days. And not a normal sweat smell, a really weird smell. Isn't pregnancy so glamourous.

MeganC104 · 14/12/2020 16:20

I've not had anymore during the day and no strange smells so I'm hoping all ok. Being pregnant is so not glamorous 😂

WhoUsedMyName · 14/12/2020 17:10

I've had my scan today now I'm scared! So she went ooo he has jumped up quiet abit speak with your mw tomoz which I am but can anyone make heads or tails of the chart is he huge?
