I'm nervous about Covid too. We aren't seeing anyone at Christmas but my husband is a secondary school teacher so no hope of isolating. Fingers crossed for these last few weeks.

Am getting weirdly used to not sleeping now, most of the time I just can't get comfy and then have awful heartburn. Think I need to start sorting out baby furniture/clothing. How far is everyone else on with that?

MeganC104 · 04/12/2020 10:45

Is anyone still working. I've got 2 more weeks full-time and because of all my discomfort I'm really not sleeping so struggling to get through each day. It also means I have no energy left to get baby stuff ready and feeling so unprepared

Grumpy19 · 04/12/2020 11:09

I've got 3 more weeks full time, then two weeks off for Christmas then 2 weeks part time up to 39 weeks. I'm hoping baby might arrive at 38 weeks though due to growth.
I'm so tired with it. Just massively can't be bothered.

oliveroses · 04/12/2020 11:26

Yes, working til 17th December and then 4th to 8th January. I moved house in October and am still upside down so really need to get my act together

Skyla01 · 04/12/2020 11:39

I'm still working up until 37 weeks but WFH so it's a bit easier. Have all the baby stuff crammed in to our spare room. Vaguely have things organised in to drawers. I will probably leave it until my mat leave starts. Also have guests staying for xmas so don't want to fill the room up. Think I'll pack my hospital bag soon though (I'm currently 33wks), just in case & one less thing to worry about.

pigletpie2177 · 04/12/2020 11:57

Hi all,
Another scan this morning showed similar waters to last week. Good news obviously but they're reluctant to take me off increased obs too soon though so back again next week for another one. Better that than not bothered I guess!

Thought it might also be of interest (@MeganC104 @LiG123 @Onekidnoclue) that I asked about colostrum harvesting and they were very pro doing it - albeit from about 36 weeks - and gave me a kit and some info. I've attached a pic.

@MeganC104 I had said I was going to work up to 39 weeks but they may induce me at 37 if they are still concerned about my water. I have a really big job interview on 11th Jan where they have said no alternative dates (despite fact they won't appoint for another 6 months from there at least) so I'm leaving it to the fates at this point 😂

No idea why half of that came up like a quote 🤷🏼‍♀️

Onekidnoclue · 04/12/2020 13:29

Thanks @pigletpie2177

I’m working up until my due date Confused I’m due on 15th and working on 14th. Not entirely sure this is the best idea ever but hey ho! What could possibly go wrong?!!?

Today I am attempting my waxing because I look like werewolf but struggling to reach my ankles so may have ankle warmers 😂

footprintsintheslow · 04/12/2020 17:47

@Onekidnoclue I totally agree about the link. I'm not bungee up but when I'm due to go the loo the pain is even worse.

I've had a bit of a mental breakdown today and cried and cried. I never knew pain could be like this and having given birth three times before I can safely safe I'd choose child birth over sciatica. I thought I'd had sciatica before but this is outrageous. I've obviously had sciatica lite and this is sciatica 2020 style!

Anyway after crying hysterically to the dr I've agreed to a low dose of co-codomol so I feel there is hope now, at least to get through the weekend.
My friend is having my toddler all Sunday too so there's a relief and she's had all day today.

Scan news: placenta is not in the way so a normal delivery for me. Baby is 6lb 8oz currently (apparently) and with six weeks to go has plenty of growing time left which seems eye watering.

I bought that TENS machine then read I'm not allowed to use it yet and the dr confirmed this.

@oliveroses I wish we could not see people this Christmas

@pigletpie2177 good news for you too and I'm glad they still monitoring you, it's nice to feel safe and cared for.

Lollipop93 · 04/12/2020 20:15

I’m due the 17th and I finish up next Friday!! With my last pregnancy I worked right up and I think it added to my problems like water retention and swelling up etc for sitting at a desk and high blood pressure due to high pressure at work etc. Not sure though. But that means I finish at 34 weeks which sounds mega early and I think normally it would drag in but because I have Christmas and new year in between I’m hoping it’s just like an extended break and let’s me get organised and spend some quality time with my firstborn xxx but I’m hoping it doesn’t start to drag coz I think this pregnancy has went quick lol

MnM156 · 04/12/2020 21:16

Was due on the 1st Jan but getting induced on 17th Dec. Going to finish packing the hospital bag this weekend. Fingers crossed. It's my first baby so I don't know what to expect or feel. It all still feels unreal tbh.

Onekidnoclue · 04/12/2020 21:30

Exciting @MnM156 how come you’re being induced early! Will be lovely to be home as a family by Christmas.

@footprintsintheslow that sounds horrendous. I’m glad the medics are taking it seriously and prescribed something that should make an impact. Sciatica is utterly vile. I think partly because it feels so ‘wrong’. It’s a horrible sickening pain. I’m not surprised you’ve had a wobble! Really glad you’re getting support. X

@Onekidnoclue My baby has been measuring small since the start of Nov. I have been having growth scans every week. Consultants strongly recommend induction by 37/38 weeks as he has better chance of growing outside. Not something I would have wanted but obviously I see sense in bringing him into the world earlier. They have repeatedly told me that the biggest risk to smaller babies is stillbirth and I just can't seem to picture anything like that. I have had a really stressful time since last 5/6 weeks. Just praying for him to grow and spending 2/3 hours everyday on the couch just monitoring movements to reassure myself.

footprintsintheslow · 05/12/2020 05:09

@MnM156 wow you'll have a baby so soon! Good luck, my favourite birth was from an induction. X

198435years · 05/12/2020 07:08

@MnM156 Same. Baby is still measuring too small. I was 35 + 3 weeks on Thursday and baby is only 4lb. Gained only 1/2 pound in 3 weeks so they want her out to give her the best chance. So I'm being induced Monday at 36 weeks. I'm so nervous and it's my first too. I have waves of excitement followed by 'what if something goes wrong or is already wrong'. Really trying to be positive but it's hard. I'm also on the couch monitoring movements and they've said anytime you're unsure just ring up and go down to the hospital to be checked.

Grumpy19 · 05/12/2020 08:25

Good luck to @MnM156 and @198435years. How accurate do you feel you growth scans will be? I am concerned about mine being too big!
Fundal height was over the 97th last week but scans put him at about 50th. I'm super scared as DC2 was only 7lbs10 but got stuck with shoulder dystocia. I have another growth scan on 22nd then consultant appointment to discuss possible induction to avoid him getting too big.

@footprintsintheslow I hope you're feeling better today and the pain killers are kicking in!

I had rrally strong BH all day yesterday. I kept going to the loo expecting to see my mucus plug they were so intense and strong. Managed to get some sleep following a bubble bath and paracetamol.

198435years · 05/12/2020 08:32

@Grumpy19 I've heard mixed messages about the accuracy of growth scans. When I was having cervix scans to check on my shortening cervix at 20 weeks the readings were at times very different depending on who did them. In my case with the growth scans and baby measuring small I'm having to remind myself they do these things everyday and to go with what they say. I'd love to keep her in there for as long as possible but it sounds like it's too risky as she's now dropped below the 3rd percentile. X

footprintsintheslow · 05/12/2020 09:13

@198435years Wowsers MONDAY?!?!? So soon. What are you doing this weekend to relax and fill your time?

footprintsintheslow · 05/12/2020 09:16

@Grumpy19 someone said growth scans are 10% out either way.

Still agony here but I slept till 4:30am so I feel so much better. I'm going to try and have moments of normality today and get up and do nice things with the toddler as feel awful that I haven't done a thing the last few days. If I can just do ten minutes sessions each hour I'll feel better.

198435years · 05/12/2020 09:19

@footprintsintheslow Trying to keep calm 😂 We still had some bits to order and get so being doing that. Trying to stay off google 😕 Plenty of Christmas films and naps when I can. Really want to get the house in order/a big nesting clean but wondering if there's much point as I'll be in hospital for a few days they are suggesting and my husband and step daughter will mess it up anyway xx

MnM156 · 05/12/2020 09:39

@198435years
I seriously understand what you are going through. It is so hard. Specially at this stage when we want everything to be perfect. I am constantly praying. I hope your induction goes well on Monday. Do share your experience once you are well and the baby is safely here. All the very best! I shall be thinking of you!

MnM156 · 05/12/2020 09:41

@Grumpy19
I asked my midwives about the accuracy and they think mine are fairly accurate as I had about 6 or 7 of them in a short amount of time and all done by the same consultant. But otherwise I have heard they are not very accurate.

oliveroses · 06/12/2020 22:04

@198435years hope everything goes well tomorrow and that you've had a relaxing weekend!
