@sakura54 do you not have the Newham midwife hotline number? They are always fab. I don't have it on me but will post it later if you don't xx

Pugprincess · 24/12/2020 14:37

@Sakura54 I'm starting to think it's quite normal to have these odd rough days. I had one yesterday. I didn't do much all day, had a cry, heart raced on and off, had a low blood sugar attack at lunchtime and then in eve I couldnt get full up I was starving. I had dinner then an hour later was starving and munched my way through 2 rounds of toast, banana, brioche, cake bar, crisps and choc 😅 I was like a human version of the very hungry caterpillar. I reckon the baby must take more from us some days than others? I had really dry peely lips too so drank extra water and kept applying vaseline. Doing better today so far though. Think the bits of sunshine have helped too.

@SkyBlue20 I'm wondering if she is measuring smaller and with your anterior placenta maybe that's why you struggle to feel her constantly? Hopefully as she puts on weight you will feel more. Keep eating 😁 xx

@holypoop hi I hope all goes well when you next go in, 🙏 my first scan was at what I estimated to be 6+4 and there was a hb. They said I was 5+6 but they can't be so accurate when so tiny and actually baby jumped ahead days in next scan so I think my initial estimate was right. Everyone's different so hopefully you were just a few days too early in having the scan and you will see hb next time🤞🏻

Hope you are all having a great Christmas eve and wishing you all a merry Christmas for tomorrow xxx

Workingmama1 · 24/12/2020 14:49

@holpoop 6+1 is on the verge of seeing a heartbeat and not guaranteed. Is that what they measured ypu as or what you think you are? I went at 5+4 and measured at 5+2 with no visible baby, the wait was agonising for the next two weeks (especially as the dates were similar to my mmc and on my second scan then baby only measuring 6ish weeks and no heartbeat) but two weeks later there was a baby and a heartbeat! Im 25 weeks tomorrow.

@skyblue20 I wouldn't stress about the bump measurement, especially if it is the first measurement. There is so much that can impact it, even more so as I think you said they out your ethnicity down as "other" so it won't really reflect where you are from. Definitely just ring up though if you feel a lack of movements ever.

We've just had a lovely morning in the park with my in laws, they are in their 70s and basically shielding so we've barely seen them as they are nearly an hour away. I'm knackered now though!

@pugprincess I definitely have days when I feel worse than others. Sometimes I can identify a reason for it, lack of sleep, dehydration ect and sometimes no apparent reason.

holypoop · 24/12/2020 15:09

@Workingmama1
They measured me at 6.1 days and CRL 0.6mm. I'm really hoping it's just too early. It's a miserable Christmas till I get answer on the 3rd.
I this I have MC tbh as my boobs are no long sore. I still feel nauseous but dunno if that's because I'm upset and have no appetite. X

Smilingdonkey · 24/12/2020 22:51

@holypoop 6 weeks is super early to see a heartbeat reliably. I think they say 7-8 weeks is when you should begin to see one xxx

Threnody · 25/12/2020 10:22

Hi ladies, sorry I've not been around much, things have been hectic. Just wanted to wish you all a merry Christmas. 🎄

SkyBlue20 · 25/12/2020 11:01

Merry Christmas ladies, hope you all have a lovely day. This time next year we’ll all have (an) extra member(s) of our families 🥰 A (non-alcoholic) cheers to you all 🥂 xx

JoJo58995 · 25/12/2020 19:20

Merry Christmas everyone! However everyone is spending it this year at least we hopefully have something positive to focus on for 2021 💕💕 DH felt his first kick today, so proud of her for doing it on Christmas Day 🥰🥰 xx

Lollol86 · 25/12/2020 21:10

Merry Christmas ladies, I hope you've all had a lovely day. I certainly missed having a glass of 2 of Prosecco today. Absolutely shattered after the kids getting up at just gone 5 but overall it's been a lovely day xx

Smilingdonkey · 25/12/2020 22:47

Merry Christmas ladies! We've come a long way this year 🥰 xxxx

RosieJess91 · 25/12/2020 23:05

Merry Christmas all! Hope you've all enjoyed your days as much as possible 🎄

Starfish762 · 26/12/2020 08:43

Merry Christmas ladies! 🎄🥂 I’m sure everyone felt as content as me in thinking it was your last one before the baby. My sister in law said we should take a tree pic with DD & my bump so we did & it looks huge 😂 Took another & can’t even tell I’m pregnant, weird how angles are! The anxiety is still there as not had 20w scan yet, but I must admit I’m excited now - let’s just pray nothing goes wrong now so I’ve got far too attached.

@JoJo58995 oh how amazing DH felt her kicks on Christmas Day, you’ll never forget that 💓

When did ladies with anterior placentas feel kicks? I’m not a FTM (DD born June 2017) so was hoping it’d be soon but still nothing, I’m 17+5.

MW apt at home a few days ago & we did hear HB, was SO chuffed & she found it instantly & it was so strong so that was lovely reassurance to get me through the next few weeks before scan. She let DH & DD listen too (from the other side of the room) so that was special, even though DD wasn’t interested 😂 Soon as MW left she asked a million questions though, and keeps asking how the baby will get out 😳 I said the doctors will get the baby out at hospital but she said ‘how though, where does it come out of’ - SHE’S 3! Any ideas?! I don’t want to lie but conscious she’s 3.

@SkyBlue20 our trust don’t measure bumps or growth charts at all, they say it’s impossible to estimate the size of a baby based on bump size (some women have small bumps & big babies & vice versa). They obv feel the bump regularly & use the scan measurements, if concerned you get extra monitoring from there (all ladies get a 36w scan as standard too). Just wanted to share in case it helps alleviate some worries - we don’t even have that seed planted into our heads where I live coz it’s just a minefield for women’s anxieties & research shows it isn’t accurate anyway. Sending love though, always ring for support & to get your concerns answered xx

JoJo58995 · 26/12/2020 09:20

@Starfish762 I have an anterior placenta and I had been feeling little flutters prior, although could have them for a few days then nothing for a week etc, but I'm 100% sure I felt her first kicks a few hours after my 20 week scan which was 20+1. Didn't feel them consistently after that but I'm now 21+6 and I've been feeling them more the last few days. My sonographer said it is completely normal not to have much if anything until as late as 24w with an anterior placenta so I keep focusing on that. I think a few of the other ladies on here were around 22w too from what I can remember because I was looking for reassurance too xx

Noornie · 26/12/2020 09:38

Can I tentatively poke my head in here?

Had a surprise Christmas present to myself yesterday of a BFP. I thought I saw a shadow of a line Christmas Eve, so snuck of to do a digital yesterday and it came back positive. I was very shocked as I’m only 10dpo today so very early days. I’m already anxious that the line this morning hadn’t progressed anymore from that shadow but trying not to worry. We lost in May at 11.5 weeks and this is the first positive since so although I’m ecstatic, I’m also terrified.

How do you all not spend the whole time worrying?!

Poppy10121 · 26/12/2020 11:45

Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄hope you all enjoyed your days yesterday 😊
@JoJo58995 how lovely that your other half got a Christmas treat of a kick! 💖

My baby seemed to love Christmas, after a few quiet days that had me worried he was kicking and wriggling all day long 🥰 must have been all the food and sugar!

Poppy10121 · 26/12/2020 11:46

@Noornie congratulations 😊 I have spent the whole time worrying (26 weeks tomorrow!) so don’t have many tips in that regard but wishing you all the best! One day at a time was my mantra x

DanceM1 · 26/12/2020 12:33

Hi ladies! Merry Christmas! Sorry is a bit late. Hope you all had a lovely day. I spent most of it imagining a Christmas with baby next year 🥰 Baby seemed to love it as well' extra wriggly!

@holypoop I hope everything goes well for you! It does seem very early to see a heartbeat so let's hope things have progressed for you in a couple of weeks 🙏🤞

@Noornie congratulations! The honest answer is that I do spend the whole time worrying. Its not as bad now that I can feel baby wriggling but definitely until that point I worried constantly... sorry!🙈 although this group helps to put your mind at ease!!

@Starfish762 anterior placenta here too.. I am a FTM but felt baby around 19 weeks for the first time.. not regularly of course!

I actually have a rather embarrassing/TMI question for you ladies but I really need to say it to someone and hoping you can reassure me 🤣🙈 So.... often when I go to the loo now, just after I've been i seem to leak a bit. Sometimes it can happen just before I go especially if I feel baby kick my bladder. So I'm pretty certain it's wee 🙈🙈🙈 but stupidly read last night about waters breaking early and needing to get any leaking fluid checked, how dangerous it is etc... However, i also read loads of women saying they've had exactly the same happen during pregnancy and its just all the pressure on the bladder. This had started happening before my growth scan and my fluid levels were normal and no sign of infection. Do you think its OK to wait and speak to my midwife about it on Thursday?? Just suddenly got really paranoid after reading those things last night! Im on it with my pelvic floor exercises now btw!!

Workingmama1 · 26/12/2020 13:36

Merry Christmas! I hope you all managed to have a special day yesterday despite the madness going on around us right now.

Like @Poppy10121 baby seemed to really enjoy Christmas (or the excess sugar!) and wriggled all day and night!

@danceM1 I find I tend to have a little dribble just after I've wee'd. It's ofter I've wiped, I think the twisting must release a little bit more 🙈 Rocking when you are on the toilet can help, wee can get "stuck" in the pipes as everything is squashed and rocking cam help release it.

Congratulations @noornie! Mini milestones have helped a lot of us, get to AF due date, 5 weeks, 6 weeks, early scan if you are having one ect. I'm 25 weeks now and the worry has finally started to ease in the last few weeks but it's certainly still there!

@skyblue20 how did your siblings take the news?

Poppy10121 · 26/12/2020 13:47

@DanceM1 I’ve found the same thing! Quite often after I wipe and stand up, I feel a bit extra come out. I’ve been doing the kegels for weeks and not made a difference but the rocking back and forth slightly on the loo has helped. So weird but I think like @Workingmama1 says it’s because all the pipes are a bit squashed down there now!

Threnody · 26/12/2020 13:51

@Noornie congratulations! What a lovely Christmas present. I got my bfp at 9dpo, and have been worrying ever since, I'm afraid. Best advice from ladies on here was to aim for the little milestones. Good luck!

@JoJo58995 @Poppy10121 lovely to get kicks at Christmas. I think I got a few in the evening!

We told the children about the baby yesterday, as my SIL came over and we thought it would be too hard to hide it from her. I think they're excited. My SIL didn't notice my bump (which on pregnancy #5 is pretty big for 16 weeks), until my daughter told her there was a baby in Mummy's tummy. I think she thinks we're crazy for having a fourth baby, and she's probably right! Yesterday was absolutely manic with just 3! Only got a week and 2 days till next scan, then we're going to tell the rest of the family and work.

@DanceM1 I know lots of ladies leak wee when pregnant, and it's most likely that, but if you're worried, get checked. Or, stick a pad in and have a sniff! Waters do not smell like wee, so you should be able to tell. When my Mum was in hospital waiting to have my sister she told the nurse/midwife she'd wet the bed, and the nurse insisted that no, her waters had broken, stuck her nose in the sheets and had a big sniff and said oh you've wet the bed! 😂 Pregnancy is so glamorous.

DanceM1 · 26/12/2020 15:55

@Workingmama1 @Poppy10121 thank you for the reassurance. I think its just worried me because its happened way more often the last 2 days so now I'm starting to question whether it really is just after I wee🙈 pretty sure it is but I'll keep an eye. I seem to have certain days when it's worse then days when it doesn't really happen so I guess it depends where baby is.

@Threnody thats hilarious! I read that too but the problem is my sense of smell is still rubbish since having covid so I can't tell 🤷‍♀️ I'm sure its ok. Baby is wriggling about as usual and like i say, this has gone on since before I had my growth scan and 28 week appointment and no infection showed or anything so really hoping its ok. Will definitely speak to my midwife on thurs about it though just in case!

RosieJess91 · 26/12/2020 20:11

I think it was @Starfish762 who mentioned the anterior placenta thing - I've been told I have an anterior placenta, but I've also been told that my placenta is laying across my cervix, so I'm a tad confused about that, but I started feeling little movements from about 14 weeks, I think. The little ones you can mistake for gas though, so unsure really. Felt him move more since about 19 weeks, now at 26 weeks he fidgets about all the time! My step-daughter didn't have much movement at all when she was pregnant, was in and out of hospital having check ups and scans because she couldn't feel movements. But he's a healthy 1 year old now, was just a very chilled out baby! Still is now, takes things easy, doesn't like to be rushed, lovely temperament!
My baby was really quiet yesterday, didn't really feel him wriggle until about 7pm, but today he's been almost non-stop moving, so much so that even my 4 yr old said he saw my tummy move!
Congrats @Noornie, what a lovely present! Mini milestones are definitely helpful, just go week by week until the scan, or private scan if possible. It was only from about week 19/20 I finally relaxed, because I could feel him move every day. But just take it easy! 💗

Noornie · 27/12/2020 08:09

Thank you all for the welcoming. Little milestones sound like a good way to push through!

Unfortunately I felt really poorly last night - just a bit clammy / sore throat etc. Woke a few times in the night and was roasting when I got up at 7, temp was 39.9 so way way too high. I think it might be tonsillitis as my husband had it last week and I can see some white spots emerging at the back of my throat. I’m now bloody petrified this is going to cause an issue as it’s not a mild fever it’s pretty high. I’ve taken paracetamol and it’s come down a bit but still above 38.5 so I’m convinced this is going to affect the pregnancy. Obviously I’m too early to actually do anything either so just hoping the temp comes down quickly :(

SkyBlue20 · 27/12/2020 10:56

Morning everyone! Hope you all had a nice Christmas? We did but am exhausted now, haven’t stopped for three days! Today is a chill out day - am still in bed and the only plans we have are to move to the couch, watch films and eat leftovers. The weather is meant to be vile here today so the perfect day for it!

@Starfish762 I didn’t feel movement until about 21/22 weeks (also anterior placenta) but I think as you’re not a FTM, odds are you’ll feel it a bit earlier than that.
That’s great from your trust about not measuring, it does seem like a very arbitrary way to do things!

Welcome, @Noornie and congratulations on your BFP. It is SO hard not to worry, I think most of us still do but the first trimester was by far the worst. As PP have said, small milestones are what got most of us through, just one small step at a time rather than looking at the bigger picture. I hope you feel better soon, maybe call your GP for advice if unsure about what’s best to do.

@DanceM1 I’ve had three occasions where I’ve leaked and started panicking about fluid! I think in my case it was just a bit of wee and a bit (a lot) of discharge! Completely understand the worry though. From what I can gather, you should change your pants or pop a pad in and see if it continues to happen, if it does, it could be waters, if not, probably just pee/discharge. The smell is a giveaway, too. I’ve been trying to do my pelvic floor exercises for a while now but always forget, just do them whenever I remember. Think I’m possibly averaging about once a day now, so getting better!

@Threnody How lovely that you told the children, must make it a bit more real now, too!

Officially hit 29 weeks yesterday, which is madness! 11(ish) weeks to go 😬 Baby girl had a really active few days over Xmas Eve, Xmas Day and Boxing Day, which was such a relief. My mum even got to feel her move 🥰 She seems a bit quieter this morning but have felt some wriggles in there. I think all of the movement has stopped me from worrying so much about my growth chart - as someone mentioned, my ethnicity is down as ‘other’ so it’s not very accurate anyway and my mum was saying that both her and my auntie had small bumps but I came out around 7lbs and my cousin was 9lbs! I’m quite slight normally, too, so makes sense that my bump is smaller.
I didn’t get to tell my siblings! One of those days where there just wasn’t a moment, but my dad and his wife told them on Christmas Day and when I FaceTimed them my brother asked to see my belly. They didn’t seem too interested though 😂

Hope everyone is doing ok! Xx

ew1990 · 27/12/2020 20:29

Just trying to catch up its been a busy few days.

@noornie congratulations. I agree with mini milestones, just take it day by day as nerve wracking as it is.

@dancem1 I have this. I stand up from the toilet and fluid comes out. Definitly think it's leftover wee 🙈 my pelvic floor is rubbish since DD though, I sneezed and weed the other day 😳

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas
