@ew1990 aw just read about your sickness 😔 hope you feel better soon. I guess you will have to pester the docs on Monday for the tablets?

Smilingdonkey · 19/12/2020 09:53

@pugprincess I would buy about 3-4 packs unless you want to be going out in the first few days and buying more. I reckon maybe every 1-2 hours for the first couple of days and then it does ease off ☺️ It doesn't hurt like a period but you do feel you uterus retract every time you feed which is weird!

JoJo58995 · 19/12/2020 11:36

@Smilingdonkey thank you so much for the reassurance! Did you feel her at least once every day after you did start feeling things from 20w, or were there some days you didn't really feel anything at all? I haven't chatted to my midwife about it because I know they'll just say there isn't anything they can do. I popped the scanner on quickly before I left work last night and she was sleeping but wriggled when I did some star jumps so she is still ok, I just didn't expect to find it this hard to believe everything would be ok at this stage. I think I actually feel less positive than I did before and it's making me so sad because I'm trying to be as optimistic as I can about things 😔

Pugprincess · 19/12/2020 11:59

@Smilingdonkey thank you, if I buy a pack of 30 would you still say 3 or 4 packs? Xx

ew1990 · 19/12/2020 12:32

@pugprincess I'd get 4, rather too many than not enough. Can always donate to a food bank if you have any unopened packs left over

Poppy10121 · 19/12/2020 13:10

@JoJo58995 sorry you’re still feeling so anxious 😔 I think it’s just different for everyone and the most frustrating thing for me is that no one else can feel what you’re feeling and tell you if it’s normal or not! I think in just a few more weeks things will get more consistent for you 🤞

For everyone talking about shaving waxing etc! I bought a cheap Babyliss trimmer/shaver with some different attachments. You can use it wet or dry so easier if you can’t see what you’re doing in the shower, and I have found it more comfortable to have a neat trim rather than close shave. Also feels much safer than trying to get a razor out when I can’t really see 😅

JoJo58995 · 19/12/2020 13:24

Thank you @Poppy10121, I really hope so 🤞

Smilingdonkey · 19/12/2020 13:43

@pugprincess it depends how much storage you have! I was using pads for 6 weeks but obviously needing to change less over time. I still changed quite often though as I just think it's nicer to have a clean one on!

@jojo I had days I felt nothing and some I felt her a lot and that went on for weeks. I think it's normal - they say don't even bother to look for a pattern until 24w (I think!) xxxxx

JoJo58995 · 19/12/2020 14:38

@Smilingdonkey thank you, that does reassure me a lot. It's funny that they can move so much and we just can't feel anything consistent for so long! I'll just keep crossing my fingers and hoping that she's ok in there, and hopefully it will become more regular in a few weeks 🤞 hope you're ok xx

DanceM1 · 19/12/2020 15:22

@JoJo58995 when I had covid (I was around 22/23 weeks) I spoke to the head of antenatal and she was telling me when she was at my stage of pregnancy she was going days without feeling anything still so try not to worry!

I'm enjoying everyone's top tips! Keep them coming!!

I'm currently dreading this announcement at 4. Havent seen my siblings who live in London for agesssssss and have been so looking forward to them coming up north for Christmas. Sounds like it might not happen now 😭 Feel like I won't see them until after baby is born!

SkyBlue20 · 19/12/2020 15:47

28 weeks today (🥳) but baby is being SO quiet today, I’m starting to worry about her. She does have quiet days (and was especially active yesterday) but have hardly felt her all day. Currently sitting on the couch, watching football and eating chocolate, hoping the sugar and excitement will get her going! Just a few big reassurance kicks would be lovely. This is so stressful, I just wish there were a hard and fast rule about what to look out for - I tend to be happy with a minimum of one big session of movement a day and then smaller movements throughout the day but I don’t even know if that’s right 😔

SkyBlue20 · 19/12/2020 15:55

@RosieJess91 How’re you feeling today?

@Workingmama1 Thank you! Would definitely recommend the shoot, so nice to have some proper pics of us together. I can send you the details of the photographer if you like, she might cover your area? Happy viability day, too!
Love that wallpaper - I was torn between that and our current plans for our nursery, it’s so lovely.

@Smilingdonkey Ooh Refreshers? Noted, thank you!

@ew1990 I’m so sorry you’re feeling so rough, hope you get your medication. Xx

@DanceM1 So sorry if your siblings can’t come visit for Xmas. The way the gov has handled the whole thing has been awful IMO - I know restrictions need to be in place but they’ve just gone about it terribly.

RosieJess91 · 19/12/2020 21:33

Better today, thank you @skyblue20, think it helps that I've been out all day. No where exciting. But fresh air always helps. Little Harry the bump has been particularly fidgety today as well! And my son has been all kinds of crazy, which has been tiring! Keeps asking me if it's Christmas yet!!

Hope everyone else is well too!

Pugprincess · 20/12/2020 09:09

@RosieJess91 aww great to see you have been out you must be feeling better ❤️ have you started any iron tabs yet?

Hope everyone's OK after ydays uturn announcement. I certainly didn't take it too well and went for a lie down, better now though, it's just a lot to process x

JoJo58995 · 20/12/2020 10:36

@DanceM1 thank you 🤞 it really helps just to hear people in the same position and it all turned out ok. She was actually really active last night which was lovely (just after Boris's announcement so she clearly wasn't happy about it either!) and later on into the evening so I'm holding on to that and feeling more positive this morning. I'm sorry about your Christmas plans 😔 It's just so rubbish....I have hardly seen my parents or my sister this year as they don't live close, so we had plans to finally actually spend some time with them. It's been a crappy year, let's hope for much better things for us all in 2021! 💕💕

JoJo58995 · 20/12/2020 10:39

@SkyBlue20 did she get more active after your post yesterday? Hoping she did 🤞🤞 I was speaking to a friend yesterday who said her movements were never regular even after 26 weeks, she would randomly feel something then nothing for ages, there was no pattern at all and there never was....and her son is absolutely fine. It just seems to be so different for everyone. Thinking of you and hoping you're ok xx

Poppy10121 · 20/12/2020 10:57

@Pugprincess are you in a Tier 4 area too? I’m really bummed out, we’ve been isolating for a week in preparation for a safe Christmas and now all for nothing! But just trying to remember we are lucky to have our health and each other, and hopefully baby’s first Christmas will be better. Really feels pointless to have all this time off work now though, should have saved it to start mat leave early!

DanceM1 · 20/12/2020 12:19

Aww @Poppy10121 thats rubbish. My sisters, brother in law and niece and nephew had all been isolating as well before coming up here and they are now stuck in London too. So sad but you're exactly right, we are lucky that we are all healthy and have this baby to look forward to! Really hoping baby's first Christmas will be an extra special one next year ❤

@JoJo58995 I understand completely. I would still say my movements aren't exactly in a pattern but i think I have a feel for how much I normally feel.

@SkyBlue20 hope baby got more active for you! Ive ordered some love hearts for my food shop delivery on Tuesday!

@RosieJess91 so glad you had a better day yesterday. Long may it last 🤞

@Pugprincess aww I know, I didn't take the news very well either but just trying to focus on looking forward to baby and hoping I get to see my family before baby arrives (probably not!). Its my nephews first birthday today ❤ Hope we get to see much more of him next year!

RosieJess91 · 20/12/2020 20:04

@pugprincess I haven't started them yet, waiting for confirmation from the doctors after my blood test. I'm not allowed to just randomly start on any tablets, because of my heart, they all have to be signed off. Even cold/flu tablets! It's a crazy life I lead!!

I'm still tier 2, so no major changes for me, I'm seeing my parents and one of my sister's on Christmas day and my OH is going to see his dad. As they can't mix, we didn't know what else to do. His dad is really ill as well, so my OH is worried it may be his dad's last Christmas, so he doesn't want to miss it, but his dad doesn't seem to like me, so we'll just have to be separate over the day. We had no plans for Boxing Day other than seeing my step-daughter and her son, and as I'm his carer while she's at work, it won't technically matter if we see each other as we see each other most days anyway. So many of my friends are based in Gosport/Havant area and therefore now tier 4 and can't see a single person and they're all devastated. It's awful, but I knew it was coming, just surprised they didn't announce it on Christmas Eve, the rate the government have gone with everything else...

SkyBlue20 · 21/12/2020 10:30

@RosieJess91 Glad you're doing a bit better. Good luck with the appointment today, hope they manage to give you some answers.

Thanks @JoJo58995. She had two very quiet days, I was on the verge of calling triage this morning but then she got a lot more wriggly and like normal as I just sat in bed for a while feeling for her, so going to see how she gets on the rest of the day. I've been so stressed with it all weekend - between that and some other stuff, DH and I ended up having a row last night (we never ever argue!) and I burst in to tears and just sobbed on him for ages. I think I was being particularly sensitive and hormonal but he was also being particularly insensitive (not meaning to, just not thinking) and it all just came to a head. Hoping today she keeps up the movements a bit more to keep me calm. It's so stressful being the only one in charge of keeping an eye on them, isn't it?! Got a MW appt on Wed so going to try and get more info out of her on movement but she's a bit useless - last time I asked she was like 'well some babies don't get in to a pattern at all'. Useful.

So sorry to those of you who the new announcement has affected - the way this has all been handled is terrible. I get the need for restrictions but it's just the way they've gone about it that's bad. I wouldn't be surprised if we all end up in lockdown come Boxing Day, too. This new strain does sound particularly bad, I hope they can get it under control soon (and in a really selfish way, definitely before baby is due!)

Hope you all had a good weekend despite the announcement xx

bubblybon20 · 21/12/2020 12:33

I've also experienced lack of movements the past few days! 😓 he was so bouncy all week until Saturday, then not really felt him much! Hoping his just moved round slightly and his facing inwards! Crazy how on edge it makes you feel! 😫😫

Pugprincess · 21/12/2020 13:07

I get days where I can feel more and then less. I think it's all based on their position. I'm tier 3 but one of my Christmas households with my only nephew has gone down, his mums a carer and the care homes battling an outbreak so we can't see them now, then Boris announcement on top. Plan to have my mum stay over Xmas eve as she would normally stay with the family that are now risky. Then go have dinner at dh families on the day but it worries me to be honest. After Boris I just felt well on edge, heart pounding etc. I feel like this new strain is going to put us all right back to March 😢 I don't think it will be long until we're all tier 4. I'm actually hoping I don't have to go straight back to school as that's worrying too with how many cases we have had. 3 weeks left by my count then wfh. Hope you are all well xx

bubblybon20 · 21/12/2020 13:44

I'm also still in tier 3. I've been in my mums bubble since the lockdown, as obviously needed childcare for hospital appointments etc. So only going to hers for dinner. Not seeing anyone else outside. Our family is rather large, but the majority live at home with my mum still. But even that makes me anxious.
I think the thing that is making me worry a lot is, it's only 9 weeks until my due date, and the way it's going im dreading them not allowing anyone not even my DH in for the birth. Obviously I completely feel more for first time mums, as I've had to previous experiences so do know what to expect. But it's just so nerve wracking! 😫😫😫😫 fingers crossed @Pugprincess you don't have to wait much longer to WFH. X

ew1990 · 21/12/2020 14:59

@bubblybon20 I'm sure there's new guidelines which say that pregnant women must be allowed a partner at all ante natal Appointments and all throughout labour as long as you are in your own room whilst in labour, I know it used to be once you were in established labour which can take days if you are induced.

bubblybon20 · 21/12/2020 15:50

@ew1990 ah that's good to know! I haven't actually seen the local updates! 😜 how're you doing? How's the sickness? X
