@ew1990 just about, feel mentally and physically drained. May have to have a nap!

@pugprincess I'm on beta blockers, so my heart rate is supposed to stay low, never usually goes above 70 even when exercising. When I was pregnant with my son, I didn't know I had the heart condition, I had a few days of struggling, but I was told it was anxiety. Haven't been feeling anxious, my heart acting up has worried me of course, but the racing can hit me when I stand up, when I'm asleep, when I'm resting. It's really random, there doesn't seem to be a cause for it. Maternity unit, GP and midwife all told me I needed an ECG, but the cardiologist ward said it was a normal pregnancy thing and nothing to do with my heart condition. So who knows... Just have to watch myself in case it happens again!

SkyBlue20 · 03/12/2020 12:56

Oh @RosieJess91, sounds like you're having an awful time of it! Surely they should be taking your palpitations more seriously with you having a heart condition?! I'd be tempted to say I had been feeling dizzy and see if you can get the ECG that way - if pretty much everyone is saying you need it then you should get it!

@Pugprincess I'm not too sure what the test is on Sat - I asked my MW what to expect but she's a different trust to my hospital and said in her trust they're not doing the one with the drink due to Covid and not wanting people to hang around in the hospital for two hours, she's not sure what my hospital are doing though. All I know is that I have to fast for eight hours beforehand - I am dreading it to be honest, I need to eat as soon as I wake up! Read a lot that says to make sure you take a snack to eat as soon as you're allowed. My urine sample yesterday was all ok, I have to have the test as my dad has diabetes. I think the hospital should ring this week to see if I have Covid symptoms before I go in so I'll ask then.

RosieJess91 · 03/12/2020 14:35

@SkyBlue20 I was dizzy, told them as well. But apparently that's normal unless I feel like I'm going to pass out. I have an ECG next Wednesday anyway, but I do feel annoyed, felt sort of brushed aside.

Pugprincess · 03/12/2020 19:36

@RosieJess91 😩 take it easy ❤️ Hope you feel better now and hoping it doesn’t happen again. Wonder if pregnancy and having more blood stops some medication working so well? Funny how my anxiety tablets weren’t helping me much, like me with them you may need a higher dose of the beta blockers? X

@SkyBlue20 can we refuse these tests lol? I really don’t think I can do it. X

ew1990 · 04/12/2020 00:53

@rosiejess hip you feel better.

Another night of insomnia 😩 heartburn really bad, I've got piles and leaky boobs 🙈🙈 I took 2 week off sick but the doctor gave me a sick note for 6 weeks. Think I'm gunna have to take it all. Sorry this is a moany post but this pregnancy has hit me hard. Sickness is back with a vengance too. 26 weeks tomorrow (well today now)

Pugprincess · 04/12/2020 07:17

Aw bless you @ew1990 I bet it’s all got worse with your stomach getting so squished now. I will attach an interesting pic I googled that shows what happens to the organs during pregnancy. It’s crazy. No wonder I constantly have heartburn too lol x

JoJo58995 · 04/12/2020 07:27

@RosieJess91 and @ew1990 sorry you're both not feeling great. Hope you start to feel better soon!
@Pugprincess congratulations on the scan 💕💕
@Sakura54 thanks for the tip with the nappies, my council look like they have suspended the trials for now because of Covid but I will keep an eye out in case it restarts again

SkyBlue20 · 04/12/2020 11:04

@Pugprincess I'll let you know how my test is tomorrow - hopefully one of those that's better than it sounds!

@ew1990 Sorry you're feeling so rough 😔 Can you take anything for any of it just to alleviate some of the misery? My heartburn has been awful, too, it's horrible! (Also, I must laugh, as I write this, the ad along the side of the page is for Gaviscon - it's like they know 😂)

In case anybody else was wondering what's what with pregnant women and the Covid vaccine, I saw this article today that says we aren't to get it - no pregnant women were included in the clinical trials so unless you are extremely vulnerable, they're saying to wait until after pregnancy. I'm quite relieved as I was a bit unsure as to what I would do - not knowing if there were any long-term effects on the baby and being some of the first pregnant women to have it concerned me. I'd get it if it were just me but baby added an extra dimension of worry.

Hope everyone is ok? So cold here today - meant to be meeting some friends for a walk at lunch just as it's forecast to start snowing! I don't mind too much, will just wrap up warm and maybe take a cuppa.

Happy Friday!

Threnody · 04/12/2020 11:36

@RosieJess91 sorry to hear you're feeling so rubbish, hope you don't get any more episodes. I had palpitations with my second pregnancy, so you have my sympathy!

@ew1990 sorry you are feeling so rubbish, hope you feel better soon.

@SkyBlue20 yes, I wouldn't get it with being pregnant, as they just don't know what it might do, it's not worth the risk.

@Pugprincess there's an interactive version of that picture - www.msichicago.org/science-at-home/make-room-for-baby/ it's fascinating.

I had my NIPT this morning, just have to wait a week for the results now. I've got my flu jab on Monday, then midwife appointment on the 17th, scan on the 4th Jan, consultant appointment on 21st Jan, and my 20 week scan on 28th Jan. It feels like a lot of appointments!

I will have to tell work soon, I suppose - I've been putting it off, as with my last pregnancy I told my boss, then found out I'd had the mmc the next day.

Salome831 · 04/12/2020 12:26

@SkyBlue20 @notalwaysalondoner Hope you are well. Thank you for your well wishes.

Great news. I had a blood test on Wednesday and my hcg level was 5946 so its deffo a new pregnancy! Given that i shouldn't be more than 3-4 weeks pregnant, I think that is pretty high and encouraging. I had another blood test today and should be referred to the midwife after that. So fingers crossed i'll be posting my due/scan dates soon :-)

Threnody · 04/12/2020 13:03

@Salome831 that is great news, congratulations!

Salome831 · 04/12/2020 14:13

@threnody Thanks so much and congrats i hope all goes well with all your appointments ;-)

Workingmama1 · 04/12/2020 15:13

Sorry I've been quite quiet this week, its been manic at work but now off for a week for a non holiday (our break was cancelled - thanks tier 3!).

@ew1990 and @rosiejess91 sorry your feelong rubbish. Hope you both feel.better soon, don't feel bad about resting when you need to.

Let us know how the gtt goes @skyblue20, mine is booked for Jan and I'm curious if its the same one as I jad last time with a two hour wait or if they've changed it to the one where you don't have to wait around.

Its my daughter birthday today and her favourite present is her unicorn balloon, glad I didn't spend lots of money on her actual presents! Weve had a lovely morning at a Christmas walking adventure and she was so excited to see Father Christmas it was really sweet. Currently trying to muster up the energy to wake her from her nap, if I don't I'll pay for it later but the sofa is soooo comfy right now....

@Salome831 great news hcg is rising

ew1990 · 04/12/2020 16:24

@Salome ooh brill news!!

@skyblue20 I've got gaviscon, doesn't seem to help.

@pugprincess it's bizzare how our bodies change to nake room for a baby!

Thank you every one else for your well wishes! 14 weeks left I'm so excited!

Proper snowed here, it's so cold though.

@workingmama DD was the same she's still got her number 3 balloon and her birthdAy was the beginning of November!

Pugprincess · 05/12/2020 04:26

Thank you @JoJo58995 🙂
Good luck with your test today @SkyBlue20 xx
Thanks for that link @Threnody me and DH enjoyed that. Certainly explains why heartburn/indigestion gets so bad doesn’t it lol.
Great news @Salome831 😁
@Workingmama1 enjoy your hopefully calmer relaxing week at home ❤️
@ew1990 no snow for us unfortunately just lots of rain 😩

Well I’ve been told I might be isolating from school as a child’s dad tested positive and they still sent child to school until they got result!! Now the child has developed a cough and temp so school have asked them to be tested so we are awaiting that result. If the child is positive that’s our bubble burst 🤦🏼‍♀️ Not going to lie though I could do with a rest lol. The constant anxiety battle etc really takes its toll. Hopefully we will hear something over the weekend so I will know what I’m doing Monday. X

Ps. I’ve been using rennies for my heartburn/wind etc. Not too bad. Although the heartburn sometimes returns quicker than I’d like. X

Sakura54 · 05/12/2020 14:14

@JoJo58995 Ah that’s annoying. Mine was quick. Thought it would take months to arrive but only took a few days. My mum said she tried cloth 36 years ago when she had DBro (wow it feels weird to say my big brother is 36 years old) but chucked them out as it was too much faff and started staining.

@Pugprincess I’ve done the GTT twice (last one was at 16w) and have another on Monday, due to having GD previously and family history. Not looking forward to it (the early start, fasting, waiting for hours and more needles) and I’m highly likely to have GD again but it needs to be done. TBH I somehow don’t feel hungry when I know I have to fast. Maybe it’s because it’s just something that has to be done. I’ve never had sugar in my urine though. Having GD is a big deal and really upset me and stressed me out last time so it's going to be pretty bad again but I'll just have to deal with it. That was one good thing about having a premature baby! Lol. Got rid of the GD sooner rather than later.

@ew1990 Didn’t realise our kids were so close in age. I’m really wondering and a bit nervous about how DS is going to take to having a baby around. He’s so used to being the centre of attention and is becoming more of a threenager! It’s not going to be easy for both them and us! How do you feel about it?

OP posts:
ew1990 · 05/12/2020 14:35

@sakura I'm a bit worried to be honest, she's so excited and asks is she ready to come out yet but I don't know how she'll be when baby is here. She's so used to being the centre of attention and I've probably spoiled her a bit, just stuff like dropping what I'm doing when she asks for something and all that. Hopefully she'll be ok,

I'm really hoping to breastfeed too so hopefully she wont be too jealous.

Pugprincess · 05/12/2020 16:41

@Sakura54 aw what was it like having GD in pregnancy? How did it make you feel etc? What are the effects? Do you have to have insulin for it? Sorry for all the questions just genuinely curious xx

SkyBlue20 · 05/12/2020 19:07

Evening everyone!

@Threnody Sure the results will all be ok ☺️ When will you tell your boss? How far along are you now?

@Salome831 Amazing news, congratulations!! 🥰

@Workingmama1 Happy birthday to your daughter! Just typical she liked the balloon most 😂 Sounds like you had a lovely day though.
I was in and out in 10mins for my GTT today - and that was with two attempts to get the blood out (I have awkward veins), so no drink or waiting around or anything, just a blood test. I love the ANDU at Bolton - it’s been so quiet and quick both times I’ve been! They said I’ll get a call if something flags or a letter if not. Super quick and easy.

@Pugprincess Sorry to hear about the covid scare, hope the results come through soon! I have so much respect for teachers, don’t know how you all do it xx

Had a lovely day - was finished at the hospital really early so used the opportunity to drive up to my mum who lives in the countryside to go for a walk. Wandered in to the local village, had a browse at an artisan market, mum bought baby a couple of really cute bits and we wandered back. We were walking about two hours in total, am shattered now! Tomorrow we’re going to get our tree 🥳

On the flip side, baby has been REALLY quiet today and although I know she’s ok deep down, it’s starting to worry me. I assumed it was because I’ve been busy and on my feet all day but been sitting about half an hour now and still nothing. I have had a few small movements that feel quite light and deep inside so logically, I think she’s probably just turned around and is kicking inwards rather than out but it’d be nice if she just gave me a kick! She gets quite active around 8pm usually so hopefully I’ll feel more then!

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend xx

DanceM1 · 05/12/2020 19:11

I know it may be different in different areas but do you know who you're supposed to call for reduced movement at weekend? I thought it was triage but no answer? It just keeps ringing out??

SkyBlue20 · 05/12/2020 19:52

I was told Antenatal Day Unit or Triage, @DanceM1. Hope you’re ok xx

Pugprincess · 05/12/2020 20:38

My go to would be the maternity unit number at the hospital? Mines in the front page of my notes. Hope you are ok xx

@SkyBlue20 that test sounds ok. Still wouldn’t like starving myself as I eat in the night sometimes and always before I leave the house. Watch me have to have the really long annoying test 😔 I know what you mean about movements too, mon to weds it was super wriggly but not as much since, some but not as strong so I’m guessing mines moved too.

Not heard any news on the covid result yet xx

DanceM1 · 05/12/2020 21:32

Thank you @SkyBlue20. Im ok. Had a panic earlier as have barely felt baby all day and was calling triage for half an hour with no answer. So apologies for the quick message. Thankfully baby's heartbeat was great and monitored for quite a while as it kept moving (typically). Can feel baby wriggling away now 🙈 but so glad i went in. They were brilliant with me.

I see i have lots to catch up with on here- i weirdly haven't had any notifications. Will look forward to catching up with how everybody is tomorrow! X

Sakura54 · 06/12/2020 13:11

@Pugprincess GD and premature labour are the top two things that concern me about being pregnant again. I didn’t have the GTT until a bit later with my first as the MW forgot until I asked. The finger pricking was stressful as it’s 3/4 times a day and I was a wuss about it, but I mean who wants to stab themselves right!? Just thinking about it made me anxious and I dreaded the next one.

No, no insulin. Gosh I’d probably be crying if I had to do that too. My glucose levels were always fine after I cut out sweet stuff and tried to eat brown bread etc so I didn’t feel like I needed to keep testing. I’m the type that eats biscuits, pastry and sweet cereal for breakfast lol and a lot of carbs in general so had to have a lot of willpower to completely stop the sweet stuff and lessen the carbs! Also I have to limit portions and not stuff my face as it may cause a spike, which is bad as I don’t weigh much as it is. Health-wise, I felt normal and you get 2 extra scans as babies sometimes get too big, but mine was titchy. I didn't make it to my second scan date lol.

I’m 28w today so third trimester now. Baby has taken over as it’s 1kg and size of an aubergine which is huge. I wake up with a rounder and harder stomach these days. Will have to take a pic on another morning. Looks like an alien is trying to get out by the way my stomach moves whenever I lie down!

DanceM1 · 06/12/2020 19:40

@Pugprincess I dont have a time for scan yet but hoping I'll get a letter in the next couple of days! Thats really annoying about the child whose parent tested positive but not surprising unfortunately. Really frustrating when people do things like that!!

@SkyBlue20 they haven't rearranged my appointment. The consultant just gave me a quick ring and booked the growth scans 🤷‍♀️ Glad to have those to be honest though. I have my GTT on Thursday as well as my 28 week appointment with the midwife (eek nearly 3rd trimester!) I have been told that mine is the long wait around for 2 hours one though unfortunately. I just have a really strong feeling that I'm going to have GD. To the point where I feel like ill be surprised if I dont. Dont ask why, maybe because my mum had it when she had me, but I know that makes no difference! I was a big baby though, not like you @Sakura54 I weighed 9lb 11.5 when I was born 🤣 my poor mum.

@RosieJess91 I hope you're feeling a bit better?! Is your heart rate getting that high when you're resting? My heart rate had been getting really high this pregnancy and just assumed it was normal. Not when I'm resting so much but walking up the stairs even makes it soar!

@ew1990 sorry you've been feeling rubbish. Glad you've been signed off though. Just take it! I probably should have taken more time but at least I have the comfort of knowing I only have 2 weeks left then 2 weeks off again.

Has everybody decided when they're taking mat leave?

Hope everybody else is doing ok. @Salome831 that sounds like great news for you!
