@threnody thank you 😊 xxxxx

Lu93 · 28/11/2020 08:16

Good luck to you all with new pregnancies this threads great for reassurance as unfortunately we have all been there.

I had a real crap day yesterday had the worst pains in my right side and had them Thursday night too and thought rest would help, called triage and she wanted me to come down to get them checked. Luckily once I got there after waiting about an hour they checked babies heart rate which she found straight away which was reassuring and an instant relief. Took my bloods and told me it would be around 2 hours for the results. At this point the pain wasn’t as unbearable but was just glad that I knew it was probably something I’d pulled. 3 hours later they came and needed my bed and asked me to wait outside which was fine because they was busy with all sorts of different women going in. She said the doctor wouldn’t be long... 45 mins I was waiting outside I was absolutely starving so asked the receptionist if I could quickly grab a sandwich. Got a minute down the corridor and she came shouting me back saying the doctors were ready for me. She was lovely and thought finally I’ll just grab something at home sat me back in a cubicle on a bed... 1 hour and half I was still waiting. I was absolutely exhausted. The midwifes were completely rushed off their feet and no doctors were to be seen. I finally said to the midwife can I have my green notes I’m going home. Think she was a bit shocked to be fair asked me why... told her I’d been there since 11 it’s now 4:45 and still nothing she said my bloods were all fine but didn’t say what the pain could be or anything just wrote in my notes how I didn’t want to wait for a Rv... such a bad experience. Has anyone else had this I appreciate that there was a lot of women but they didn’t ask me once how the pain was it was as though they shut the curtain and forgot about me!!

Sorry for the rant guys but I was just so upset yesterday with it all thankfully the pains eased and I’m hoping it’s pelvic girdle pain? Has anyone else had this? Xx

Threnody · 28/11/2020 08:22

@Lu93 Oh gosh, that's awful! I've never had anything that bad, been left waiting for a long time, but never that long especially with no food. I'd contact the head midwife or the hospital pals and let them know what happened.

Pugprincess · 28/11/2020 09:05

Sorry to hear your experience. How are you feeling now @Lu93?

I feel really crap today 🙁 I don’t know if it’s from going work all week and fighting the anxiety but I fell sleep on sofa all night (got up at 2am to clean up 🙈 was wide awake) when I got back sleep I woke up this morn to let dog out and I went upstairs to use toilet and when I came down I felt weak and rubbish so grabbed a banana. Then I think a panic attack came on and I’ve calmed down and eaten properly now but I honestly feel really drained and sick and just rubbish. Does anyone else get days like this? Worrying me. I’m 20 weeks today x

JoJo58995 · 28/11/2020 10:13

@Lu93 I'm so sorry about your experience. That's awful! I definitely would speak to someone about that, yes they are busy but to leave you for that long and not give you an opportunity to eat anything is awful! I hope you're ok.

@Pugprincess I'm sorry you're not feeling great. You sound like you've had a tough week so try to take it easy. I'm 17+5 and randomly feel light headed, dizzy and faint quite frequently (thought I was going to faint part way through a surgical procedure at work the other day....not ideal timing)....can go from feeling fine to awful very quickly, and then back to ok again half an hour later if I drink some water or eat something. Try to put your feet up and look after yourself this weekend if you can 💕

Pugprincess · 28/11/2020 10:17

Thank you @JoJo58995. Think I’m getting myself worked up as to why I feel so almost hungover. I’ve just laid on sofa all morning so far xx

JoJo58995 · 28/11/2020 10:48

@Pugprincess I think it's really normal to feel very up and down with everything physically and emotionally. I had 3 days off at the beginning of this week and I just laid on the sofa watching greys anatomy for a lot of it. I made sure I did at least one bit of exercise each day whether it was relaxing yoga, exercise bike or a walk but other than pottering about the house I just let myself properly rest. I think we forget its ok to do that.

Sakura54 · 28/11/2020 11:56

@Lu93 Sounds similar to my experience. I’m not sure if you read what I wrote about my 20w scan when I had that emergency? It was pretty bad, but I was also left to wait for hours and didn’t even have a cubicle. I literally walked/sat around the waiting area and it got so late, my family came to bring me dinner. My wait time was crazy due to waiting for blood results and the doctor having to go to an emergency. I also considered leaving and the MW was surprised that I was still there when I approached her, but she convinced me to stay. Heavily pregnant women kept coming in with pains, so it wouldn’t have made sense for me to have a bed. They are clearly short staffed, but I didn’t see a reason to complain as they have to prioritise women based on what’s going on.

@Smilingdonkey Thanks. If the nappies arrive, I’ll let you know how it goes. It comes with 100 disposable liners, 2 boosters and 2 cheeky wipes all for free. DS is a little guy so I’d imagine the nappies would fit, although if it doesn’t feel like a nappy, not sure if he’d be ok wearing them lol.

Update: So I’m nearly 27w and 3.5 kg heavier than booking weight (up 1.6 kg from last month). Baby is huge now and the movements are getting even more stronger. I feel it when I’m sleeping like come on, let me sleep in peace! Still a very small bump so feels like she’s always at the front, pushing out body parts in different places and higher up now. It sometimes feels like it’s the head (or could be the butt) as it’s so round and hard and I stroke it. Poor thing must be so squashed already.

How about you all?

OP posts:
JoJo58995 · 28/11/2020 14:02

@Sakura54 glad to hear she is growing nicely! 🥰 do you mind me asking where you have ordered your trial nappies from? xx

Starfish762 · 28/11/2020 14:24

@Threnody do you mind me asking what your screening results came back as? Had mine today (so quick!) & edwards/patau is 1 in 10,000 but downs 1 in 3,325. With DD I had 1 in 10,000 for both, so of course my mind has started wandering (although I know in reality 1 in 3,325 is still low!) I’m 34 so hoping it’s just higher than expected due to age.

Smilingdonkey · 28/11/2020 14:47

@lu93 I had red degeneration of fibroids with my DD which is a very bad pain in my side. I have had niggles in my side this time and gone in to be checked but luckily it doesn't seem to be escalating like it did before. Do you know if you have fibroids at all (it's very common and they don't always see them on a scan) If they get bad the pain is unbearable (I was hospitalised for a week with them and it was worse than the labour!) So you will know - but night be worth keeping an eye on if it comes back 😊 xxxxxx

Lu93 · 28/11/2020 16:48

Yeah thanks guys, I was just so fed up. I appreciate they’re busy but I thought if anything they’d want my bed rather than having me waiting round. The midwife actually told me to formally complain, so the people higher up might give them more staff. Wasn’t a good experience when the next time hopefully I’ll be going in is when im in labour!
The pain is so much better today I don’t know if I over did it walking the dog it was quite uneven but felt okay at the time.

Hope you’re feeling better @Pugprincess and managed to get some rest I also have good days and bad (21 weeks tomorrow) sometimes I feel exhausted and others I forget I’m pregnant until I see my reflection 😅

Threnody · 28/11/2020 19:43

@Starfish762 Down's was 1 in 2700, Trisomy 18 1 in 50000 and Trisomy 13 1 in 5800. I had much lower T13 risks in my previous pregnancies. My daughter I had 1 in 65 for Downs, which is high risk, so got a Harmony test via NHS, and all came back fine. With my youngest I got 1 in 690, so low risk, but still felt high, so I got a private Harmony test and again all was fine. I'm going to get another Harmony test this time, just emailed my midwife as I think she said I could pay via the NHS now, otherwise I'll do it privately again. It is just the peace of mind, since the NHS screening is only 70-80% accurate, while the Harmony test is 95-99% accurate. There's another NIPT I may do instead if we do it privately, which is 99% accurate for all three.

DanceM1 · 29/11/2020 20:16

Hi ladies, think I have a lot to catch up on!
I've had a bit of an odd week. Went back to work for half days on Wednesday. It was harder than I thought in terms of how I was feeling but so so lovely to be back with my class and I planned to go back to full time from Monday but just take it easy and take all the help I could get. My boss has been amazing and really supportive. BUT I'm part of a covid study so I get tested once a month and that happened to fall on Thursday. I asked them if there was a chance I could test positive as it had only been 3 weeks since I did. They said yes but not to worry I wouldn't need to isolate again because normally you wouldn't get another test within 90 days of testing positive because it can still show. Skip to Saturday and I got a call from the study saying I had tested positive and need to isolate for another 7 days because they could tell I was a bit breathless on the phone and coughing a bit 🙈🙈🙈 Test and trace said im fine and would only need to isolate if I still had a temperature or developed new symptoms.. I have neither! Its only advice from the study and its not enforced but obviously I dont want to put anybody at risk so am going to isolate. Im just gutted because on Tuesday I'm supposed to see the consultant BECAUSE I HAD COVID and now I'm going to miss it BECAUSE I HAVE COVID 🙈🙈 Disaster!

Anyway... sorry for the rant 🤣 I hope everybody else is doing well. My positive is that I'm feeling baby's movements more and more, during the night as well and I LOVE it. Just hope baby continues to be ok!! 🙏🤞❤

ew1990 · 29/11/2020 21:05

@lu93 sorry you had such a bad experience. You really should complain!

@dancem1 aww no what a shame. We have weekly test at work but if you've tested positive your not allowed another one for 90 days because it could still show up.

Hope your consultant appointment gets rearranged quickly.

Nothing much to report from me. Baby moves a lot. Like can feel a kick in 2 pkaces at once so she must be stretching out. The only thing is last week I was starving constantly and now I have no appetite whatsoever and have to force myself to eat

Pugprincess · 30/11/2020 05:46

@DanceM1 bless you that sounds like such a pain. I don’t blame you for taking a bit more time though especially if you are still coughing etc. Maybe you do need a bit more rest. My friend (not pregnant) returned to school last week and only managed a day and a half and had to go home rest of the week as she was exhausted from it still. Now her class is off isolating for a 3rd time as a child has it. It’s a never ending battle at the moment it seems. Be nice once you go back as you will only have 2 weeks till Christmas if like us?

Thank you @Lu93 ❤️
I’ve decided to take today off as I’ve not felt well all weekend and with my 20 week scan later I think facing school with my current anxiety levels would be just too much. Babies kicking away this morn hopefully he/she is trying to reassure me. Xx

Lu93 · 30/11/2020 07:29

Aw at @DanceM1 that sounds awful. So have the study said to isolate another 2 weeks?

@Pugprincess yeah I think that’s for the best to have today of, how lovely definitely to reassure you! Are you finding out what you’re having or keeping it a surprise?

I’ve been up most of the night, before bed I kept hearing a noise and now I’m 90% sure we have rats in the attic... just what we need 🙈🙈 xx

Pugprincess · 30/11/2020 11:17

@Lu93 hi, I think we are keeping a surprise but I did have a naughty thought last night like getting tempted 😂😂😂🙈 I think I would be cross with myself though for giving in 😅 think they birth would be so magical anyway but to have DH tell me the sex is just an image I keep replaying and want for this first time lol. I do hope it all goes ok today though it’s such a worry. Hope you aren’t feeling too bad from the lack of sleep 😴 xxx

Lu93 · 30/11/2020 11:51

@Pugprincess Aw that’s what we did! We was adamant we wasn’t going to find out then we caved 😅 yes that sounds amazing and completely understand why because that memory would just be so special!

I actually have someone on Facebook who I used to work with was told she was having a girl and this morning posted that she’d had a boy! Can’t believe it still happens with all the technology! 😅 yes shattered but don’t have a tasking day so that’s okay! Just need to get my husband to sort out that noise! Kept imagining the whole cast of ratatouille in my attic 🙈🙈

Good luck for the scan, can’t wait for the update 🥰

Workingmama1 · 30/11/2020 13:27

Good luck for your scan @pugprincess!

I'm suddenly feeling very pregnant, my bump is getting in the way a lot more and indigestion is ramping up!

So so tired today, my daughter was up twice in the night, and I didn't sleep in between as we had a funny smell in the house last night and I convinced myself it was a gas leak and we were all being poisoned! Pretty sure it was just the drains....

@danceM1 how annoying about a second positive test! But maybe not such a bad thing if it let's you rest for another week instead of going back to school. Frustrating about your consultant appointment though.

Pugprincess · 30/11/2020 13:34

@Workingmama1 thank you, my nerves are kicking in now. DH on his way back home from work to take me. Suddenly developing wheezing and farts 💨 (anxiety 😩😩😩)

@Lu93 yes I know someone who was told it was a girl (she already had 3 boys) and it was another boy! I worked in primark at the time and I remember all her friends rushing in to return all the pink stuff they bought saying she’s had a boy! So that niggly what if they have it wrong doubt does put me off. I think if I’m lucky enough to do this again one day il find out but I will keep asking different sonographers each time I go. I suppose if it’s a boy and they can literally show you the winkle you would be satisfied anyway. I think it’s more the girls they get wrong cause the winkle might be hiding 😅

SkyBlue20 · 30/11/2020 15:01

Afternoon all!

Just off to catch up but good luck with your scan, @PugPrincess!

Threnody · 30/11/2020 15:33

@Pugprincess Good luck with your scan!
We found out by accident with my first (had to have an amnio, and the consultant waved the results at us with 'normal male karyotype' on the front! With my daughter we were going to have a surprise but caved at our 17 week scan. With the last one we kept it as a surprise, but I was pretty sure I glimpsed a willy at one of my late scans, so was not surprised it was a boy. I'd quite like a proper surprise this time, though going by symptoms I reckon it's another boy.

@DanceM1 oh no, how rubbish. Can you ask the consultant for advice?

Had a call from the screening midwife today, she's booked me in for the NIPT test (not Harmony on the NHS now, but something similar called SAFE), on Friday, and for my 17 week scan with Fetal medicine on 4th January.

SkyBlue20 · 30/11/2020 16:04

@PugPrincess Ahh so sorry you’re in tier 3 – must be awful when you were tier 1 beforehand! At least here in Manchester we expected we were going to go in to tier 3. My DH had sympathy symptoms quite early on, he kept feeling really nauseous and some other stuff I can’t remember now. He’s the opposite with the weight though – he’s working out like a mad man and I keep telling him he can’t get too buff as I’ll look even bigger next to him, he’s slim as it is! And he’s always been forgetful so he can’t blame that on symptoms 😂

@threnody Congrats on the screening results ☺️

@Salome831 I hope you get answers soon and that it is the answer you want ☺️

@WorkingMama1 Sorry about your holiday 😔 I am gutted we never did get that last baby-free holiday but the last hol we went on was probably the best we’ve been on so just going to count that as our babymoon even though it was Sept 2019 😂 We fully intend on not letting baby stop us from going away either (first time parent optimism?) – we’ll just take her with us and it’ll be a bit of a different trip to usual – so I’m hoping things are better by next year and we can make the most of my mat leave!

@Lu93 What a horrible hospital experience! Hope you’re doing ok now?

@Sakura54, wow, can’t believe you’re heading in to the third trimester already, the time has gone so quickly! I’m finding the second trimester is flying by, are you? Glad she’s being all active and reassuring.

@DanceM1 Oh God, what a nightmare!! Hope you can rearrange your consultant appt for as soon as poss after your isolation period is over. How’re you feeling within yourself after it all?

All good over here, bump has gone huge over the last few weeks – took a pic yesterday and compared it to one from three weeks ago and the change is alarming! I also think I’ve bought almost everything we need for baby – I went mad in the Black Friday sales online doing baby and Xmas shopping but am just glad it’s sorted now, one less thing to worry about as everything was getting very overwhelming. There will still be little bits to get and we’re going to do the nursery over the Xmas break (it’s currently our spare room/my WFH space) but the bulk of it is sorted 😅 It feels very early to have so much but I’m very organised by nature so makes sense for me I guess.

Baby is still having super active days and quieter days but although I get worried on the quieter days, I am realising that’s just what she’s like at the mo and I’m sure she’ll get more in to a routine the further along I get. She’s been doing some very strong kicking this afternoon and I just can’t get enough of it, I absolutely love it 🥰 Got my 25 week MW appt on Wednesday then my glucose tolerance test on Saturday so after what feels like ages of nothing, I have a busy week when it comes to pregnancy! It’s all going to go so fast from here on out, isn’t it, with Christmas in the middle?! I worked out I have 11.5 working weeks left before mat leave (obviously discounting the Xmas break), eeeek!

Hope everyone is doing ok xx

SkyBlue20 · 30/11/2020 16:04

(It did not take me an hour to catch up - DH and I went for a walk part way through 😂)
