@SkyBlue20 thats a lovely little bump.. i feel like mine looks HUGE. Its grown so much the last 2 weeks!! Its not uncommon for me to not feel movement for a few hours also and I'm 25+2 today (eek!) The midwife was very clear that its not about how much movement its about what's notmsl for you. But I can understand your worrying because I do it all the time. Ive had a really active baby for a couple of days now so I'm expecting to have a really quiet day today or tomorrow to make me worry!

@Pugprincess I'm really sorry you're struggling so much with your anxiety. It must be so difficult. It sounds like you're doing everything you can and great that you went in again yesterday. Just go easy on yourself xx

SkyBlue20 · 21/11/2020 09:52

Thanks @DanceM1. I called triage for advice and they want to get me in to check because it is very out of the norm for baby’s routine (though I believe their routines don’t tend to be set until after 28 weeks or so). It’s probably nothing, she’s probably just moved or something, but I thought how terrible would I feel if something had gone wrong and I hadn’t been to check because I didn’t want to bother anyone, so will head in. I’ve not felt her again in hours and evenings and mornings are usually when I feel her most so it is very much out of the norm for her and although deep down I’m like ‘I’m sure it’s fine’, I am also worried. They said until 26 weeks they won’t do monitoring but they will check for heartbeat so that’s something at least.

Smilingdonkey · 21/11/2020 09:59

Hi all! Just doing my Saturday catch up while my partner has DD!
How are you all?
I have finally heard back from the complaint I made about the continuity of care midwife and they are calling me today and sorting it all out and putting me on a FTM appointment plan etc. to make up for how awful it's been! I'm 25 weeks tomorrow and still don't have my proper notes and nobody had tracked the baby on a growth chart or anything! Luckily the sonographers and MAU staff have been amazing and as this is my 2nd I am more confident with what to do when I have an issue - but still! My midwife texted two weeks ago to say she had 'left the team' (I suspect she was sacked as she was shit and just didn't show up for appointments or let me know urine results which left me with an undiognosed UTI for weeks) and that someone was going to call me. Nobody did! Anyway I called and said I wanted to change to clinic care like last time but they have convinced me to let them have another go - 🤞 that means I'll be treated like a queen 😂

@danceM1 so I would say if you are not happy then gently complain as they may well have a different route of care you could do down instead of the clinics if you want something more personal. I've always found calling the maternity hotline here really good. They are really reassuring and kind and will answer any question you have.

@skyblue your bump is lovely! Mine is so massive and wobbly from left over tummy fat from DD! I'm jealous!

@workingmama1 congratulations on the scan! Such a lovely photo and great news about the haematoma😊

@pugprincess glad you are getting some help from the GP. Fingers crossed it will get easier from now on xxx

@rosiejess - your company sound amazing! What do you do if you don't mind me being nosy?

Good luck for all the scans this week ladies! And welcome (and gentle conratulations) to newbies - we get the crazy anxiety here and everyone is very supportive 😊

Love to all and sorry if I've missed anyone off - it's so hard to remember when the thread moves faster than you!

Xxxx

Smilingdonkey · 21/11/2020 10:04

Here is my flabby bump and also the teeny newborn nappies that have arrived ! They are so so tiny! I can't imagine she will be this wee! We used cloth on my DD from about 13 weeks but this time I really want to try from birth 🤞!

Thanks all for the wellness wishes (it’s spread over two pages and I don’t want to miss anyone so I address this to all 🙂)

I feel a little anxious this morn but I’ve woken up later and I’m hungry so I’ll probably be ok once I’ve been up and eaten. Planning to put some Christmas decorations and the tree up today 🙂 DH is out working overtime today so just me, bump and pooch for a bit. Anxiety wise it will take a few weeks for the extra medication to take effect really but I’m glad yesterday went better.

Think I felt baby turn twice yesterday (like a heavy churn feeling) and had some squirms so that was good as had been quiet most the day. Hope your check goes well @SkyBlue20 I’m always worrying and I’m actually dreading the bit when it’s actually supposed to be a regular routine of kicks and it goes quiet 😩 I just know it’s going to happen and worry me, probably a lot too.

@Lu93 congratulations on doing your announcement 😁 it’s a big step to take so it’s great that you feel ready. In hindsight I probably should have waited for my 20 week scan really but it’s done now xx

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend ❤️

Threnody · 21/11/2020 10:28

@SkyBlue20 hope all is ok, always good to get checked if you're worried.

@MrsK21, @Starfish762 I'm feeling terrified about the scan. My gran died yesterday evening, so I'm feeling pretty negative in general. I'm still feeling nausea, but nothing else really. Only two days to go at least.

MrsK21 · 21/11/2020 10:41

@Threnody I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you managed to say goodbye in some way. Such a horrid time we're living through

@Starfish762 the bleeding could be the hematoma and it's working it's way out. Please try not to worry. Praying it's nothing and just the last of it coming out.

I'm same as you @Threnody I've had a reduction in my nausea the last couple of days, hoping that's placenta taking over.

Only a few days to go till we can leave the horrid first trimester behind us!! Xxx

Starfish762 · 21/11/2020 10:51

@Threnody Im so sorry. Heartbreaking even when you know it’s coming & know they’re no longer suffering. Sending lots of love & strength to you xxxx

Smilingdonkey · 21/11/2020 10:52

@threnody I'm sorry I missed the news about your Granny. Sending love xxx

Sakura54 · 21/11/2020 11:01

So sorry @Threnody

Lovely scans. Congrats @Lu93 @Workingmama1

@DanceM1 I’ve had loads of appts and scans, but it’s a different person every time. I think at my next MW appt, it may be one I’ve seen before as it’s at a clinic so surely can’t be that many people working there. When the MW was listening to the heartbeat and counting, she worried me for a bit as she made a face like something was wrong for what felt like ages. I mean, come on!

@SkyBlue20 Agreed that two weeks is not long. It’s so tough with a newborn regardless of the way you give birth. I wouldn’t be able to do it on my own. That is very lucky you won’t have to worry about being alone when you go into labour! It’s crazy how it can happen at any time and in different ways.

Yesterday was a terrible day. DS had an accident when with my mum so I wasn’t around, but she didnt even see and well after saying on here that DS didn’t know I could drive, I had to brave it and drive him all the way back to my house for an emergency dentist appt, as he isn’t registered at my parents’ local one so they couldn’t help. He’s fine, but I can’t say the same for his teeth. I’m very upset, my poor boy and it makes me look like a bad mum especially since they wanted to know the exact details and were also questioning him (probably determining whether to report me to Social Services). Worrying, crying and being angry all day about him plus stressing about driving isn’t what I need when I’m so pregnant. Soon I’ll have another little being to permanently worry about. Crazy.

@starfish762 basically a receptionist, but work from home via my laptop. Answer calls, either take a message or transfer the call through if they're available.

They don't have to give me longer as I haven't worked for them long enough. I'm entitled to a year off, but it would be unpaid, so they won't get any money from the government by paying me, that's just them being nice. You have to work for the company for 26 weeks before you have the baby, so receive full maternity pay/leave.

SkyBlue20 · 21/11/2020 12:24

@Threnody I’m so sorry about your gran 💕 Sending lots of love your way xx

@Sakura54 Sorry about your son. Try not to beat yourself up about it - it’s one of those things and children get injured all the time. I’m sure he’ll be ok. Big hugs. X

@Smilingdonkey So glad your complaint is being dealt with, hopefully it’ll be first class treatment from here on out! Your bump looks lovely and those nappies are so teeny 🥰 I love the idea of reusable nappies but just can’t bring myself to use them for some reason. I am, however, adamant that I’m going to use more sustainable ones, even if it costs me a bit more. I’ve seen that Pura have a Black Friday sale on so might buy a few from that and am also eyeing up Kit + Kin ones.

Went to be checked at the hospital, was half an hour from arriving to leaving and the midwives were so nice. All is fine with baby - they listened to her heartbeat (something they only start doing from 24 weeks and I’m 24 weeks today!), checked my blood pressure and my urine and all was fine. I asked if it’s likely that she’s just moved or being lazy and the midwife said maybe but that I should never use that as an excuse and should always call and go in if unsure, she was really adamant about that and so lovely. Very glad I went, though still not felt baby since so although I’m reassured, I do still want her to start bloody well moving again!

Lu93 · 21/11/2020 12:43

@Threnody so sorry to hear about your gran big hugs,

@SkyBlue20 aww that must be a relief that she’s all okay and great that the midwife was so supportive!

Starfish762 · 21/11/2020 13:33

@Sakura54 oh how stressful! Don’t feel bad though, accidents happen with toddlers (DD is VERY accident prone). I understand why you feel that way of course, and damaging their teeth is so upsetting, but they will fall out & new ones come in. Whenever DD has an injury & I beat myself up I always try to think of how much worse it could’ve been & remind myself no matter what I do & how careful I am accidents will still happen. Out of my NCT group of 6 mums Im the only one with an accident prone child, just one of those things, very annoying but not our fault. Lots of love xx

notalwaysalondoner · 21/11/2020 15:36

My due date will be 26th July I think! Had some very small cramps yesterday like I had with my first pregnancy. I definitely already let myself get excited again - it’s just perfect timing as we are buying a house right now and I’m so happy but also scared it will go wrong again. Did you guys find it hard to get excited or worry that you were somehow jinxing it?! At what point did you feel able to relax? I’m planning to get a very early scan - last time we waited until 9 weeks but it was anembryonic so would have been good to find out sooner.

Starfish762 · 21/11/2020 16:06

@notalwaysalondoner I tried so hard not to get excited but I think even when you’ve been through MC & try really hard it’s impossible not to picture the future etc. I found out when I was 3w & prob spent the next 3 being SO anxious & negative, and the time dragged! The ladies on here helped by recommending setting little milestones to get to week by week, like registering the pregnancy, early scan, seeing MW etc. I had an early scan at 8w & it totally changed my mindset & I finally relaxed, then I had another scan at 10w after the anxiety came back. Then I had heavy bleeding for 15 hours which was terrifying & we accepted the worst, but next day an early scan showed everything was fine 🤯 I’ve felt strangely positive since then but the anxiety is creeping back in as I have my 12w scan on Wed. Basically the whole thing is scary & anxiety inducing but all we can do is try our hardest to stay positive, keep busy to pass the time but take it easy. With DD’s pregnancy I done ALL SORTS but this time I’ve literally sat on my arse for 2 months 😂 We’re all here for you xxx

Poppy10121 · 21/11/2020 17:35

@SkyBlue20 sorry you had a stressful day, glad it all turned out ok!

@Threnody sorry about your gran 😔

@Workingmama1 thank you for recommending the Mamafit app, I did the Heartbeat and Breathe classes today and found them just right for my current energy levels - was nearly dozing off at the end of the meditation!

RosieJess91 · 21/11/2020 18:16

I'm so sorry @threnody, I completely missed the news about your gran. I'm so sorry, hope you and the rest of your family are okay. Not a nice thing to go through, especially at this time.

Pugprincess · 21/11/2020 20:57

@Threnody I’m sorry for your loss 😔 I’m sure she will know about the baby and will be looking down with a smile xx

@SkyBlue20 glad baby was well and I hope you feel something soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻

@notalwaysalondoner one day at a time but it’s hard xx

@Sakura54 hope your little boy is ok and not too upset from it, I bet it’s affected you worse hasn’t it? Did he lose some teeth? X

Dipsy77 · 22/11/2020 07:30

@RosieJess91 look into maternity allowance if you do want to take a little extra time off. That's what I had to do with dd last year if you were working before this new job you should be able to apply x

DanceM1 · 22/11/2020 10:57

Morning ladies! Ive just written a huge essay honestly and my phone freaked out and I lost it all!🙈🙈🙈

So I'm afraid I'm going to make this much shorter. Really hope everybody is ok.

@Threnody so sorry for your loss. It must be very difficult especially given current circumstances. Sending lots of love your way.

@Sakura54 hope your little boy is ok! Poor you worrying as well.

@SkyBlue20 glad all is ok! I had a very similar day in terms of movements but luckily had my scan booked otherwise think I would have contacted triage as well.

I had the most lovely scan yesterday! Saw baby in 4d..LOVED watching baby's little gestures. Got a little teddy with baby's heartbeat in too 💓 and a USB of all the scan pictures we have had so far at that place! I'll attach a photo in a minute.

@notalwaysalondoner I wrote you a really big message which I lost sorry 🙈 the long and short of it was that I didnt allow myself to get excited at all for a long time. I think after 12 weeks I started to get a little more excited but its mainly been since I've felt movements that I've been more excited. Even now at 25weeks I can't bloody wait for baby and I tell bump I love it multiple times a day 🤣 but I still have moments where I worry that I'm taking things for granted too much. I think its all natural sadly!

Starfish762 · 22/11/2020 14:27

@DanceM1 beautiful! Bet that was a lovely experience

JoJo58995 · 22/11/2020 15:59

@Poppy10121 @DanceM1 @SkyBlue20 thank you for the reassurance, it sounds like I'm just being a bit impatient expecting to feel anything this early. I think it was because I had felt the little flutters for a few days but maybe they weren't what I thought they were.

Hope you're all ok. @Threnody I'm so sorry about your gran. Sending lots of love xx
