@Lu93 good luck for today’s scan!

@DanceM1 hope you are feeling much better now xx I have had a different midwife for each appointment so far even though we’re supposed to have continuity of care 🤷🏻‍♀️They also forgot to give me a list of phone numbers so couldn’t actually contact any of them!

@threnody sorry about your gran, that is so tough at any time but especially now when visiting isn’t possible ☹️I hope she can hang on for your good news!

@Sakura54 your bump looks lovely, very neat! Your husbands job sounds very mysterious, does he work for MI5!?

@pugprincess sorry you’ve been struggling with the anxiety around driving 😞 I think what you’re doing sounds very sensible but also if you need to just take a break or get driven by someone else for a bit, then do it! So much going on at the moment, so be kind to yourself xx

@Jojo58995 I have an anterior placenta and I’ve still only felt occasional flutters (20+5), I think I feel something every day when lying in bed or on the sofa but it’s still very light. The midwife said around 22 weeks I’ll probably feel more.

notalwaysalondoner · 20/11/2020 08:53

Can I join? Got my positive test today after a missed miscarriage discovered at 9 weeks in May, had surgical management. Then had a very early miscarriage in September. Been TTC since October 2019. Really want some support from people who’ve been through the same thing and appreciate the challenge of not wanting to get emotionally invested too soon in case it goes wrong again, but also wanting to let myself get excited.

Workingmama1 · 20/11/2020 10:01

20 week scan and everything was looking and measuring perfect! We had a trainee sonographer which meant we got a running commentary as she checked everything with the qualified sonographer. And no sign of the hematoma so it sounds like it had reabsorbed which is amazing.

@lu93 good look for your scan!

@threnody sorry to hear about your gran. Its a totally personal decision on whether to tell her or not.

I think I'll have the same midwife throughout, she is the only one that goes to my local heath centre so sees all the ladies round here. Last time there were two that I alternated between.

Congratulations and welcome @notalwaysalondoner!

Also @SkyBlue20 totally agree with you paternity leave should be longer. With my daughter my husband took 2 weeks holiday as well so was off for a month. Its not just about them bonding with the baby but also the practical and emotional support for mum, epically if there isn't a local support network who can pop over to help. I would have really struggled if he had gone back after two weeks, I was still a mess, and knowing he could help at night (my daughter would not go in her cot!) really helped.

JoJo58995 · 20/11/2020 10:29

@Workingmama1 ahh so happy for you! And what a gorgeous picture 💕💕

DanceM1 · 20/11/2020 12:48

@JoJo58995 I have an anterior placenta and first felt baby move at around 19 weeks. This is my first baby though- cant remember if its yours! Since around 21 weeks movements have been strong and getting stronger..love watching baby move about 🥰 I always thought it would freak me out feeling something wriggling about in my belly but its the best feeling ever!

In fact, I'm feeling baby move just below my ribs today which is a first!

@Poppy10121 thank you and I cant remember who else replied about midwives sorry 🙈 I wish I could see the same midwife at least every now and then.. maybe that will happen now ill be having more appointments! It just didn't feel very personal at all yesterday. They didn't even call us in by name..just came into the waiting room and asked who was next.. is it just me that finds that a bit strange?! Im not criticising the midwives at all btw.. I suppose just while I'm so anxious I thought it would be nice to develop some sort of relationship with somebody.

Hope everyone else is doing well! I've gone a bit mad and booked a rather expensive 4d scan for tomorrow 🙈 Think after all this covid business I just wanted something nice to look forward to!

I've also been given a few options from work about going back maybe wfh for this week, just taking this week off completely (as docs note lasts til next friday) or just working mornings for this week so that's really lovely of them and makes me feel better!

DanceM1 · 20/11/2020 12:57

@Workingmama1 congratulations! Thats lovely!

DanceM1 · 20/11/2020 12:59

@notalwaysalondoner sorry I keep missing messages! Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to the group. Its definitely a very supportive place and we 100% understand all the anxiety and ups and downs. Hope this is a successful pregnancy for you 💕

Starfish762 · 20/11/2020 13:13

@Workingmama1 wow what a lovely pic! Congratulations ❤️

@DanceM1 glad you’re feeling better & work are being supportive. That’s shocking the MW’s didn’t even call you by name! I’m very lucky in my area they’re pushing a new thing called continuity of care so you should always see the same midwife & if not it’ll be one of 2 others, same for the birth which is incredible (I didn’t have that with DD). This is why my named MW came to my EPU scan after the bleeding, on her day off too 😭 Extremely lucky & rare I think, going to take her a nice bottle of wine to my 16w apt (if I get there!) Could you say something given what you’ve been through & the anxiety? Might help 🤞🏼

@notalwaysalondoner welcome, it’s SO lovely on here. Congratulations on the positive test, hoping this one sticks for you. How far along are you? It feels like yesterday I joined after my positive but I’m 11+6 now.

Lu93 · 20/11/2020 13:14

Just updating the thread, had our 20 week scan today 🤩

Little monkey wouldn’t move for the sonographer to get the measurements for the spin after lots of rolling round and coughing she finally was able to get the measurements instead of me having to go back! Everything looked lovely and healthy and we caved and found out what we’re having... A GIRL! Over the moon hope everyone has a nice day xx

Forgot to attach photo 🙈

Threnody · 20/11/2020 13:50

@Workingmama1 what a lovely picture! So please all is well, and great news about the haematoma. It's great to get the commentary, isn't it - I had a few scans with my first up in London with a Professor doing it and a few trainees in watching, so got lots of information!

@notalwaysalondoner welcome, and congratulations - this is a lovely supportive group. Fingers crossed all goes well this time for you.

@Lu93 Congratulations - a girl! Lovely photo!

DanceM1 · 20/11/2020 13:53

@Starfish762 thank you. That sounds brilliant about your midwives! So so good! I dont want to complain really if that's just the way it is for everyone in my area but it just seems a bit strange. Glad its not just me being funny about them just asking for the next person 🙈

@Lu93 Congratulations on your baby GIRL! Lovely news.. my baby took a LOT of encouragement to get into a good position at my scan too 🤣

notalwaysalondoner · 20/11/2020 14:56

Hi all, thanks for the congratulations! I've been prescribed progesterone (cyclogest) by the private consultant I saw for fertility tests in September, and also suggested to take aspirin 75mg. She will offer me clexane (blood thinning) injections too after I have a scan at 6-7 weeks. Hopefully we make it that far...!

RosieJess91 · 20/11/2020 16:30

Congrats on the girl @lu93!
And welcome aboard @notalwaysalondoner hope everything goes smoothly for you 💗
Glad your scam went well, @workingmama1, hopefully that means it's the end of any worrying bleeds at last!!!

So I've just started a new job, working from home, and they've just told me that because I'm so close to popping time, they aren't able to give me full maternity leave, but they're going to pay me full pay and allow me to have 4 weeks off. And said that if I decide I need more time off after that, they're happy for my OH to take over my job and still pay me full pay (my OH works 4am-8am every morning, so will be home all day anyway!)
I'm so happy, they are so lovely. Feel like it's too good to be true though. They've also said if I'm ever off sick, they still pay full pay, apparently they think it's inhumane to let anyone survive on sick pay. Properly insane...

Pugprincess · 20/11/2020 18:22

Congratulations on your scans @Workingmama1 and @Lu93 and a girl congratulations! Think that’s 8 girls 5 boys now in the group?

@Poppy10121 unfortunately me and husband live far out from everyone and he drives to another city for work so leaves a lot earlier than me so I’ve no choice but to drive myself xx

I had a terrible day with the anxiety yesterday, failed to get to school, woke up with waves of anxiety in my chest, heart pounding etc. Ended up contacting gp, I’ve been on a low dose of fluoxetine 20mg for years for my anxiety but I think with what’s been going on and the hormones it’s got the better of me and gp upped my dose slightly to 30mg. Hopefully it helps. I made it to school today at least 🙂 glad it’s the weekend! X

Workingmama1 · 20/11/2020 18:32

@lu93 congratulations and yay for a girl!

@Pugprincess sorry you're still having a tough time. It sounds like your gp was receptive? Sorry if its teaching your grandmother to suck eggs but have you considered talking therapies?

@RosieJess91 they seem really accommodating! Although if you want longer I think they do need to give you the time off if you want it, but not necessarily pay you, so if your husband can do it that would be perfect!

If anyone is interested in hyponobirthing the positive birth company have a Black Friday sale using the code blackfriday which takes their digital pack to £20!

Pugprincess · 20/11/2020 18:55

@Workingmama1 thank you yes I’ve reached out for talking therapy and have my initial assessment Dec 16th. I’ve had CBT before too but nothing was helping me this time no matter how much I tried. Guess it’s a bit out of my control with the hormones xx

MrsK21 · 20/11/2020 20:49

@notalwaysalondoner congratulations on your bfp! I think you were on the TTC after MC threads if I'm not mistaken? So glad a few more people from there are finding their way here :)

@Threnody @Starfish762 how are you both feeling about scans next week? I'm flipping between excited and absolutely terrified at the moment 😩

X

Lollol86 · 20/11/2020 22:59

@Pugprincess bless you, so sorry you have been feeling so anxious. Hopefully upping your meds helps xx

Starfish762 · 21/11/2020 07:48

@MrsK21 I’m the same! I’ve been quite chilled & positive but the past few days the anxiety is setting in, my worrying I don’t feel overly pregnant & this morning I have some light bleeding again when I wipe 😩 It’s dark red & only when I wipe but it’s still concerning, I’ve had none since the hematoma drama 2 weekends ago so I don’t see how it can be leftover from that but only coming out now. But everything crossed for all 3 of us 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Lu93 · 21/11/2020 08:14

Thank you for the comments guys, I swear I don’t see all other notifications sometimes so miss stuff in the thread! Glad your scan went okay @workingmama also going to check the hypnobirthing deal out! I do really like the idea of that and gives me something to do whilst I’m off.

I also have an anterior placenta but yesterday she said it’s to the left, I do feel like I’ve felt something. Especially on my right side, can’t wait to feel more in the next few weeks.

Congratulations notalwaysalondoner, I found this group really helps me, especially at the start. It’s nice to know you’re not alone with your feelings of anxiety. Especially when the beginning feels like forever when you’re wanting to keep it secret still.

I do find it strange that I’ve also not seen this same midwife, but i do feel that if I had any concerns or worries I’d feel I could get in touch. I don’t mind the impersonal service bit if I’m honest, I see it as they do it every day in, day out and I’m just another woman that’s coming in and because I’m not high risk or anything their just doing what they have to do. I think i would worry more if they sympathised with me more if that makes sense. And maybe did ask me the personal questions.

@danceM1

Aw that’s exciting hope you have a nice day seeing baby again!

@rosiejess91 that sounds brilliant! They really sound like they’re going to be a good company to work for with them perks in place!

@pugprincess
Glad your GP managed to see you. Hope you’re feeling better today and enjoy your weekend xx

I think I’m all caught up now! We announced that we was expecting on Facebook last night feel so overwhelmed, I didn’t think I’d publicly post it but I feel like we hit a real milestone yesterday, and even more so that we found out that we’re having a daughter. Everything just feels more real and feeling really positive. I’m hoping this feeling lasts!

Have a good weekend everyone xx

SkyBlue20 · 21/11/2020 08:19

Morning all!

@JoJo58995 I didn’t feel anything I knew for certain was movement until almost 22 weeks but by then it was little kicks.

Welcome, @notalwaysalondoner! I’m so sorry for your losses and really hope this is the one that sticks xx

@Workingmama1 Congratulations!! So happy for you 🥰 What a lovely scan pic, too! Thanks for the PBC code, definitely want to do that so will be purchasing.

@DanceM1 Enjoy your scan today! Sounds like your work are being really understanding, which is great.

@Lu93 Congratulations on your healthy baby girl! 💕 Another lovely scan pic, too.

@RosieJess91 Your new workplace sound really flexible, which is great! Agreed that I’m pretty sure they have to give you longer though, but it would just be on SMP/MA.

@Pugprincess I’m sorry you’re struggling so much, glad your doctor is listening and happy to help though. Hope you can have some relaxation time this weekend xx

@Starfish762 Sorry to hear you’ve had more bleeding. It’s likely nothing to worry about at all but know how worrying it can be xx

I had a terrible night’s sleep, worrying about movements again. Baby had a really quiet day yesterday and I didn’t feel her between about 8pm and midnight, despite taking some time to stop and try to feel her. Both DH and I kept waking up in the middle of the night and he was asking if I’d felt movement - my answer was usually ‘I’ve been asleep!’. Taking some time now this morning to try and tune in, I’ve felt a few little pulses on my side, which should be enough to reassure me, but obviously my brain is going in to overdrive about whether they’re strong enough etc etc etc 🤦🏻‍♀️
In good news, am 24 weeks today! 🥳 My bump has grown SO much over the last week, going to upload a pic in a next post!

Hope everyone else is doing ok xx

SkyBlue20 · 21/11/2020 08:22

Yesterday morning’s bump at 23+6. Definitely look pregnant now!

That should definitely say ‘yesterday evening’s’ - look outside, it was definitely not the morning 🙈
