Hi Everyone!
I've not posted on here much, but have been following! I had a miscarriage on 18th September and fell pregnant straight after (before I had AF). I've felt ok - nausea and headaches but nothing ridiculous...except the extreme exhaustion! Anyway, I wanted to go for an early scan to try and date it all a bit better, as hard without having a period. I thought I was around 8 weeks. Had my scan this morning and they confirmed 8w1 and 8w2. YES - they confirmed twins. I can't believe it. I'm in a state of shock. My poor husband is also in a state of shock! Hoping everything goes well from here on out. We're not telling our family until 12 week scan so wanted to share with you ladies!
I'm still really anxious as well aware things could still go wrong but both heartbeats were strong, so trying to focus on the positive! Also feeling a little bit better about the weight I've gained - it's not loads, but I wasn't expecting any by 8 weeks really!

@Pugprincess What lovely gifts from your mum, love the bauble for your angel baby, I might see if we can find anything too, I love that idea.

We got a Moses basket from Facebook marketplace today - Mamas & Papas, really good condition and it was free! Plus they only lived a 10min walk away so easy to go pick it up. Need to buy a new mattress and clean all of the covers etc but very happy with it as somewhere for her to sleep downstairs. It’s currently up in our living room which is very strange, it’s like a glimpse in to the future! I want to mess with it more but going to keep it in hibernation for a few days just because of the Covid risk. Bloody Covid.

Ahhh congratulations @MRJ86!! Double the trouble 🥰 I think you might be the third or fourth on here having twins! Are there any in your family or a complete surprise? They do say they can be more common straight after you’ve had a MC! Are they your first DC? Xx

I keep getting this really sharp pain on the surface of my belly. It feels like somebody is pinching me just inside. Do you think it is just where the baby is? Has anybody had anything similar. Its different to round ligament pain.

Hope everyone’s having a nice weekend. I feeling surprisingly on top of the world, after last weeks rollercoaster with the bleeding you’d think I’d be on edge but I just feel light & positive, it’s weird. Nothing I can do will change anything so I figure if I try my hardest to stay in a positive mindset it will help 🤞🏼 Bought a pregnancy pillow off amazon (£46) to try & get in the habit of sleeping on my side, 2 nights of broken sleep 🙈 Slept last night without it & slept like a log! Gonna try it again tonight & persist, pretty sure I can’t return it after using it.

@skyblue20 ooh a good find then. Our Moses basket is second hand from a friend. Just need to buy a new mattress too. I gave everything away from DD as after her Labour I was convinced I couldn't do that again. I said to DP the other day I'm scared of Labour, he said I would be too! So much for sympathy 😂😂 it's so so so worth it though and hopefully I won't be Induced this time

@skyblue20 you’re getting so organised, what a great find for free! We don’t have anything yet but I’m hoping to get a load of second hand stuff off family nearer the time once we’re all out of lockdown 🤞

@Starfish762 that’s so interesting that the pregnancy pillow is disrupting your sleep! I wondered the same tbh, I have been sleeping with it every night and I wake up loads but it stopped my back/hip pain. However this morning I woke up on my right hand side having chucked the pillow out of the bed and I’d slept for a solid 6 hours! But my hips were killing me 😭 I think maybe the pillow can make you much warmer than usual being so close to your body?

We had our 16w scan this afternoon and baby is doing really well so far. We're having a little girl 💕💕💕💕 she was so lively for the scan and we heard her little heart beating for the first time 🥰🥰

3 more weeks until I see baby again.
Hoping to book at 4D scan around 32 weeks hoping it'll be good! As seen a lot of posts of them on here, never had one before!

@JoJo58995 yey congratulations! 💞 Think we need to see an updated list to see how many of each we have.

Looks like everyone on here is finding out, gonna be tough to keep it a surprise 😬 We did with DD & it was the best thing ever so both always said we wanted a surprise again, DH still does but after last weekend I just feel a strong urge to know & bond with him/her. But don’t want to regret finding out as always said I wouldn’t, plus feel bad on DH 🤔

@Poppy10121 I think it’s more coz it’s so unnatural for me to sleep on my side, and DH says I’m a wriggler & I suppose you can’t with the pillow. If yours is helping with your pain then it sounds like a hit! I’ve purely got it to help get into the habit of side sleeping before it becomes dangerous. I didn’t make as much effort with DD but I can’t take that risk again.

I can’t recall who was on about maternity dungerees, but turtledove have some of their organic cotton ones that look great with or without a bump. Ordered some today for £27 with free delivery, they have 20% off code if you sign up for their newsletter. The code was SU20 in case anyone wants to try without having to sign up x

@DanceM1 I think I’ve had those type pains, probably muscles or something. I get so many weird pains lol.

@Starfish762 we are having a surprise 😁😁 it’s our first so wanted to have first as a surprise then if we are ever blessed with a second we would do something along the lines of a gender reveal with family and friends and a cannon or something. Be nice to plan with a second especially with only having 2 bedrooms. Nice to experience a surprise and the gender reveal thing too I think. In regards to sleeping I am on my sides but man it’s tiresome lol, my hips and top sides of thighs get achey from my weight I think 😅

I agree it’d be nice to experience both sides, makes it really different then. I LOVED not knowing & guessing, and everyone else guessing. Everyone thought we were having a boy even strangers coz apparently they could all tell (😂), when they said “it’s a girl” I was in floods of tears coz it was such a lovely surprise! We’ll see how things go anyway 🌈🤞🏼

I remember people mentioning headaches recently....have other people been suffering with them too? Its only been the last couple of weeks but they bloomin hurt and I'm too scared to take anything for them. I drink plenty of water but they seem to come on out of nowhere and then can last for hours. From what I've read it seems like a fairly common second trimester symptom rather than something to worry about?

@jojo58995 congratulations on a little girl! I think girls are outnumbering boys now? I've been getting headaches, 4head has helped but it only takes the edge off a bit for me. For my back pain the midwife said I could take 2 paracetamol morning and night, I think paracetamol is fine if you are in pain, but like you I'm trying hard not to take it!

Great find on the moses basket @skyblue20, we got one second hand for my daughter for £10 (but she hated it and only napped in it about 5 times 🤣) we will be reusing it for this baby with a new mattress.

@poppy10121 if you're not getting on with the big pregnancy pillow but still need support between your legs you could try using a normal pillow, or I've seen mini ones you literally attach to one of your knees so it doesn't take up a lot of room but still supports you. I also have a Moses basket given to me by my friend, is it important to get a new mattress? Is it a sids thing? X

@pugprincess yes it's recommend you get a new mattress if you buy second hand or reuse with a sibling. It's to do with SIDS, not sure what it is about an old mattress that actually makes them unsafe though! You can get new mattresses for moses baskets pretty cheap online.

@pugprincess I think it's something to do with the previous baby imprinting a shape on the mattress where it's been if that makes sense? I'm sure I read that somewhere. Have a look on eBay you can get brand new one for a tenner, it's what I'm getting. And then 're using dds cot with a new mattress x
