Morning!

@JoJo58995 So sorry about your sister-in-law, that must be so tough 💕 Hope your scan goes well, are you going to find out the sex?

@RosieJess91 @Workingmama1 Sorry to hear you’re both in so much pain 😔

@Pugprincess Don’t apologise for worrying, I think we’d all be exactly the same - I’m in awe of your teachers and of healthcare professionals etc, I couldn’t do it! It’s hard enough being pregnant, let alone after loss and in the middle of a global pandemic, so cut yourself some slack and do what you feel is best for you. Big hugs xx

@workingmama1 Thanks for posting that link, have signed up! Unclear as to how much I’ll actually use it but the intention is there! My exercise has gone right down recently as I’ve set up my office in the spare room and that’s where I’d usually exercise but now I have to take down the desk and everything and it just feels a lot like hard work when I’m tired at the end of the day!

@DanceM1 Glad you’re feeling a bit better, sounds like a wise decision to take the next two weeks off though. Rest up xx

I’ve not been keeping track of my weight gain, I don’t think I’d cope well with it if I did, even though I know it’s normal. It does appear to be all bump for the moment but I know that’s likely to change soon, especially the rate at which I’m eating! I’m STARVING all the time! I had breakfast at 9am yesterday (porridge and a banana) and then had to have a piece of toast at midday, then lunch (and cake!) at 2pm. It calms down in the evening but obviously I still have dinner. It’s crazy how hungry I get.

Lovely bump pics, ladies!

Baby seems to be doing a little dance this morning, she’s moving loads, I love it 🥰 I miss her when I can’t feel her moving during the day and look forward to the evenings so I can get some more kicks!

Hope you all have some lovely weekend plans xx

Sakura54 · 14/11/2020 09:18

@Pugprincess You’re going through a lot, so it’s understandable to feel the way you do and have all these worries. Deffo WFH for as long as they let you.

I don’t know how you’re bending with that bump but good on you. It’s not going to harm the baby. I’ve been instructed not to do any heavy lifting because they don’t want me to go into labour early again and “don’t do anything like gymnastics” lol. All I want to do is hibernate until the due date anyway lol.

Movement-wise, it’s much more stronger when I’m lying on my back, but I suppose it could be different with a big bump?

Yes, it could be true that baby may be sitting more back and I do have a tilted plus split womb. I find it incredible that women can be pregnant and not know, like how do they not feel ill/tired, ache and everything?!

@SmileyT How does having another appt a week later make sense? That is stupid lol! My 25w appt is next week. I’ll let you know how it goes but it should just be the usual checking urine, BP and updating your notes with all your test results/details. Possibly measuring bump and heartbeat? Might get your Grow chart too. Nothing much happens in these appts especially if you have no questions and are low risk. They don’t weigh you again as it may cause unnecessary stress, but I think we should be monitored.

@Pugprincess be kind to yourself and do what you need to do to stay healthy and happy, it doesn’t make you a wet blanket and no one should judge you! As others have said we have so much to contend with being pregnant after loss anyway, the pandemic is the last thing we need! Hope your work are understanding and let you WFH when you need to xx

@Workingmama1 thanks for the link, I’ve emailed, hoping I’m not too late! I seem to have a bit more energy now so hoping I can regain some muscles, I feel like jelly at the moment!

@DanceM1 rest up and hope you feel better soon! Definitely take the most of that time off to get really recovered, it can be so tempting to go back too soon when you’re conscientious but you need time to get strong again xx

Poppy10121 · 14/11/2020 11:19

PS I think the bump grew in the night!

Smilingdonkey · 14/11/2020 11:30

Morning all!! Sorry for my long absences - life is so busy and I feel like a rarely get time to check in properly but I do have a read every day and it's so nice to have you all going through the same things ☺️ @pugprincess If your school will let you WFH do it! Mine are showing no signs that I should be doing that. My DD had to isolate this week while her childminder's daughter waited for results and they said 'can't your parents have her?' - I had just said they were nearly 70 and lived an hour and a half away! Lucikly we only needed to take a day off each to have her so it was ok but God knows what we would have done if she had needed to isolate for 14 days 🤷 I was also off on Monday as I ended up in MAU with pains and another UTI. It's ridiculous. They said if I get another one they will put me on a constantly low dose of antibiotics. Not sure I'm keen on that idea really.
@dance M1 I'm glad you are starting to improve - so glad you are not going back to early. I know the guilt is awful but really they will just have to cope and nobody will be pissed off. You would do the same if anyone else you worked with was in your situation ☺️ xxxxx

Good news is that my useless Midwife has quit/been sacked so I will get another one who will hopefully be better ... 🤞🤞 Although it has been a week and I still haven't heard anything. I might call this morning and see.

I'm so fat. I was a bit overweight before and now I feel huge. Going to rejoin slimming world this week and try and at the very least stop getting fatter!

Love to all xxxxx

ew1990 · 14/11/2020 12:10

@pugprincess sorry your feeling low. It is understandable and I would work from home if it's being offered to you.

I was hoping I could go on medical suspension from 28 weeks but it seems my trust don't do that anymore. I'll just speak to my manager nearer to the time. On the other hand I have sorted my maternity out. I can't believe how fast it's going!

Hope everyone is doing ok? Trying to do a bit of housework today but I'm so so tired 😩😩

JoJo58995 · 14/11/2020 12:44

@SkyBlue20 thank you 💕 yes if everything goes ok tomorrow we would like to know the sex (we're very impatient!) but I'm just desperate to know if everything is ok. I have waves where I feel positive and waves where I feel like I need to prepare for bad news 😔 I wish I could stop them but just got to ride it out I guess

Lollol86 · 14/11/2020 20:18

How is everyone doing? I have a private scan today and found out I'm having a girl 💕
We already have 2 girls so dh has said he is going to move out when the girls start hitting teenage years 😂😂

@Lollol86 congratulations 💕💕

Lollol86 · 14/11/2020 21:49

@JoJo58995 thank you 😊 xx

Smilingdonkey · 14/11/2020 23:33

@lollol86 lovely news! Another girl in the group! Congrats 🥰 x

ew1990 · 15/11/2020 00:40

@jojo aww lovely! 3 girls wow your husband is well and truly out numbered 😂😂

Pugprincess · 15/11/2020 04:27

@SkyBlue20 thank you for your kind words ❤️ Glad you are still feeling lots of movement xx
@Sakura54 thank you also xx
@Poppy10121 Thank you, work have been great so far. I worked out earlier that between now and the 28 week working from home thing I have 10 weeks, and with 2 of them being Christmas holidays and next week me being off that leaves at least 7 to work so it’s not too long to survive and try not to catch it. As long as the cases calm down I’m happy to go back. Your bump is looking lovely 😊

@Smilingdonkey thank you I will just take it a day at a time and will update you guys on things come Friday as if things are calmer I will go back. I’m planning to pop into school Tuesday as we have been selected for regular tests and antibody tests due to the amount of cases, there’s only 50 schools been selected (I think nationwide but I could be wrong, might be 50 from my city) to have these tests. I didn’t get anymore emails to say anymore cases today thank goodness as had 2 yesterday! Strange that your area is different to mine you would think these rules would be the same especially being in a national lockdown. I hope your uti calms down, are you drinking plenty of water even when you feel ok? I’ve had one since being preg but been on antibiotics twice (turns out the second time my sample was fine even though I was burning and it was cloudy 🤷🏼‍♀️) It crossed my mind about permanent antibiotics if I kept getting problems as years ago I suffered so many uti and kidney infections, I had to have scans at hospital to check my kidneys and left one shows scarring from all the infections. So I wondered if it might return once preg. Guess everything being squashed doesn’t help and hormones maybe. If they do give you antibiotics longer term it’s probably safer as you really don’t want kidney infections they are awful xxx

@ew1990 it’s a shame yours aren’t doing it, I don’t understand why it’s different as if it’s safe/not safe that should be the same everywhere I think 😔 if things calm down I would happily work until I can’t last any longer lol, but unfortunately I’m working in an area where it’s spreading like mad at the moment.

@Lollol86 huge congratulations on your scan and it being another girl! 🥰 I hope you will start to feel more bonded now if that’s the right word as I remember you saying you have been struggling with it. Have you felt any movements yet? Did they say where your placenta is? xx

My mum gave me some Christmas tree decorations, one is a star that says bumps first Christmas 2020 and the other is a heart to remember the lost baby, it made me cry, says something along the lines of ‘I don’t need an angel on the top of my tree as I have one in heaven looking over me’. I will take photos and post tomorrow. Miss my mum so much, I met her for a masked socially distanced walk today as I’m her support bubble (she lives alone) but she’s been too scared to see me with the cases at my school so shes looking forward to me not being at school so that I’m safer for her. Xx

Smilingdonkey · 15/11/2020 08:12

@pugprincess what a lovely idea for tree decorations. We buy one as a couple every year and this year maybe I will suggest we buy one for the lost baby 🥰
I have never really suffered from UTIs before and I had no idea how awful they can be. I am still having burning when I wee. I'm worried now in case it's something else as I'm on some pretty hardcore antibiotics ... 🤷 I'll wait until the course is finished and call back if it's still there. I don't think having to rush around between rooms (up and down stairs) in a big school is helping. I don't feel like I get to go to the loo enough or drink enough water. I did ask someone to come and relieve me at the end of each lesson to let me wee and get more water but they made the poor guy who manages the office do it and he is so so overworked and now off with stress (he pretty much runs the school and we are so understaffed at the moment) so I don't want to ask again 😩 My maternity cover is an NQT but she is starting on Monday and will shadow me for a few weeks. I'm hoping they will give her some of my timetable after Christmas and take the pressure off a bit 🤞 But the fact she is following me around for now is actually annoying - I will feel I have to be outstanding all the bloody time 😩🤣
Xxx

Pugprincess · 15/11/2020 08:33

@Smilingdonkey aw Yh you should get something for the tree definitely ❤️ Yh they can be nasty, I recall one so bad I could see blood in my wee and on tissue. That sounds really hard about toileting at school. That definitely won’t be helping. I would explain that to the docs and get them to maybe write a letter for work demanding something is put in place for you? Surely that should feed into your risk assessment? We have trainee teacher students in too at the moment, our teachers don’t always do everything perfect all the time they just say to the students don’t do it like this 😅 you’re secondary school aren’t you? Shame you don’t have a ta or anything. Why does an nqt get to shadow? I never got to do that just had to get on with it lol but I’m primary xx

Smilingdonkey · 15/11/2020 09:20

@pugprincess yeah I think I will get a note from the doctor if it continues. I just know they will make this poor guy do it again and it seems so unfair 😩

I think she is shadowing because she will be taking my classes and because she did her PGCE last year and so only really did half a year in the classroom and hasn't been in one as a proper teacher since March. Poor thing. What a year to train! I think they are just giving her a chance to get back on her feet. I do wonder if they are going to try and make me WFH in January as I'll be 28 weeks before Christmas. Apparently they have done that with other teachers across the trust ... I know I said earlier that if they are offering it you should take it, but actually on reflection I would hate it! I really hope they don't make me! It's a nice idea but I'm pretty sure I would go mad. I would also have to take my DD to the childminder anyway so it would double my time in the car every day to 2 1/2 hours and cost twice in petrol 🙄 It's impossible to work at home with her.
Xxx

Pugprincess · 15/11/2020 10:08

@Smilingdonkey ah I see about the nqt yes so she’s only really had half her training bless. Hard one with the guy but needs must for your health too I think. If he’s finding it too much I suppose it’s for him to raise with slt? Yh my pay is going to suck on reduced hours so relying on DH now. But mat leave I can only get statutory or just the bog standard mat pay from gov anyway I think as I’m a temp contract so I’ve got get used to less money. I’m thinking I will be back to school in a week or two anyway. Like you I would prefer to stay at school after 28 weeks but if it’s offered and cases are still high I will have to take it I think x

DanceM1 · 15/11/2020 10:36

@skyBlue20 @poppy10121 @smilingdonkey thank you. I most probably won't use the full 2 weeks but if I use this first week it will hopefully give me chance to fully recover and I'm seeing my midwife on Thursday so I want to just check that everything is OK before I go back! I havent heard anything about this appointment with the consultant yet.

Anybody in healthcare or teaching or any other roles where you can't socially distance, there is a maternity leave thread that is interesting about wfh or in an alternate role from 28 weeks. One of the ladies on there said in her hospital trust if you test positive within 90 days of giving birth, you're not allowed to use the birth pools!

@Lollol86 congratulations on another little girl! Im one of 4 girls and although we had some great fights when we were younger 🙈 i love it. My dad also secretly loved taking everybody's sympathy when we were out and about ...."oh you poor man, you deserve a drink" was popular when we were teenagers!

@smilingdonkey poor you with the UTI. Ive actually never had one but from what I understand they can be pretty nasty! My maternity cover started on the Monday after half term (the day before I started with symptoms bless her). She is working alongside me until I go off to help her get her head around y6 and meaning we can do our best to prep the class for sats before I go off. I mean that WAS the plan before I got covid. Now she has been left to do home learning and just get on with it. Luckily she seems very on it!

Lollol86 · 15/11/2020 10:59

@Pugprincess thank you. I am starting to feel excited just hope it lasts. I haven't felt any obvious kicks yet, 17 weeks today so hoping they come soon. She did say but I can't remember what she said, I have anterior placenta in my head but not sure what that means? Xx

Lollol86 · 15/11/2020 11:02

@DanceM1 I'm 1 of 3 girls too and there's currently 12 kids in both sides of the family and only 1 is a boy 😂😂 we were never going to have a boy 😂. Me and my sisters use to fight so much but now we are older we are all so close which is lovely xx

RosieJess91 · 15/11/2020 12:36

@Lollol86 I'm 1 of 3 girls as well, don't know how my poor dad survived it! But he's now getting a second grandson, so hopefully that eases it somehow! My cousin is due a couple of weeks after me and she is also having a 2nd boy. We joked that her mum and my dad have cursed us and her sister into only having boys.

I'm feeling him wriggle almost constantly now, it's insane how much this little boy moves, so I'm starting to feel really at ease about it. Bought quite a few items of clothing and a blue changing mat.

Only issue is, I think my OH was so sure we were having a girl, that he said okay to Harry, and now because it's a boy he keeps telling me it doesn't sound right... his son and our son both have names beginning with L, he's trying to say that should continue.
I did happen to notice that our children's names initials would spell out the word HELL. 🤦🏼‍♀️😬

Pugprincess · 15/11/2020 12:54

@Lollol86 ah anterior means at the front which can mean it’s a bit longer to feel movements xx

ew1990 · 15/11/2020 13:25

@rosiejess at my 20 week scan her head was right down low near my groin, I feel more movement there with her head bobbing around. And then see the kicks and the turns around my belly button. I'm sure her heads stuck 😂😂 my bump is very low though I'm hoping she moves up soon.

Sorry to the ladies suffering with utis. Hope everyone's had a good weekend x

Workingmama1 · 15/11/2020 14:03

@Lollol86 yay to another little girl, congratulations! We are the opposite with boys, my daughter is the only one so not surprised we're now having a boy like all the rest!

@smilingdonkey can the nqt not cover the end of lessons so you cam get to the loo? (or even mid lesson if you really need to go). I get that she only had half her training in a school but she did qualify so in theory could be teaching on her own by now. I did Teach First so after 6 weeks training over summer (and only a few days of that in schools!) I was teaching lessons on my own by period 2 of the September term of my pgce year! You need to make sure you put yourself first, especially drinking enough, can you take a bottle of water round with you?

I got given one ofnthose huge pregnancy pillows this week which is helping my back first thing in the morning but its normally really sore again by lunchtime, especially if I've been on me feet. I really want one of those Christmas garlands that go up your bannisters but I'm currently having to hold on to the bannister and go upstairs on at a time so dont think that will work 🤣

My daughter was in bed with us this morning and searching for the baby as I had my back turned to her. I went on my back so she could see my bump but my belly button went in and she said she still couldn't see it. I think she thinks my belly button is actually the baby!

Smilingdonkey · 15/11/2020 15:42

@workingmama1 you are a genius 🤣 Why did I not think of that?!
