No point to this thread just so excited to meet my baby Grin Is anyone else due soon or found out they're pregnant recently? It's all so exciting

Hey 😊 I am 39 weeks too. How are you feeling about the whole labour thing? Is this your first?

SadAndPregnant · 25/10/2020 22:56

I'm due in the best week too. It's my second but with quite an age gap. I'm absolutely fed up with severe spd.

SadAndPregnant · 25/10/2020 22:56

Next week. Must proof read 😒

eatthatbueno · 25/10/2020 22:58

Hi there 😄 I'm feeling okay just trying to not have too many expectations. I have spoken to my midwife about labour which made me feel a lot better and I have a TENS machine waiting hopefully for some good pain relief 😆. Yes this is my first. How are you feeling about labour and us this your first also?

@SadAndPregnant I'm sorry you're dealing with that it sounds dreadful. I hope your baby arrives soon and you can hopefully have some relief.

@eatthatbueno yep, my first too 😊 I am pretty calm to be honest, I am not feeling too bad (although swelling is annoying), so I am just lazying around whilst waiting for things to start. It still feels a bit surreal..

eatthatbueno · 25/10/2020 23:09

That's good to hear. The only place that has swelled are my feet lol I can't fit into any shoes that I used to. Only complaints I've had about my pregnancy was I had awful sciatica for 2 weeks and then it magically went away haha but it was the worst pain I've ever felt. It does feel really surreal, soon we'll be holding our babies! Do you know if you're having a boy or a girl?

Hi im 38+4 so due in just over a week. Its our first baby and I'm starting to get a bit nervous. I've not suffered too badly other than awful nausea at the beginning. Getting uncomfortable now but can still manage.
I have been getting some painful braxton hicks though, anyone else had this? I've had them since second trimester but I am getting sharp period pains with them now. On and off for about an hour then it stops.

SqidgeBum · 25/10/2020 23:16

Me too! 39 weeks tomorrow!! I am sooooo fed up. Swollen feet, cant move, pregnancy insomnia so I am only getting about 4 hours sleep a night between about 3am and 7am, and I have a toddler who is 2 next month. I cant wait for this baby to arrive. I also have a tens machine ready and waiting.

eatthatbueno · 25/10/2020 23:16

Hi and congratulations. I've had painful braxton hicks too, exactly how you're describing like period pains, it happens mostly when I'm in bed. Mine only started a few days ago. It's hard to distinguish what's normal and what are contractions.

Congratulations @SqidgeBum and I've hated being pregnant tbh I just feel so big 😂. I'm waking every hour for a pee. Hopefully your baby shows soon so that you can have your body back again. It's so exciting our little ones will be in our arms anytime soon!

biscuit13 · 25/10/2020 23:26

@eatthatbueno yeah im not sure if its classed as early labour or not. It feels like more than braxton hicks but they aren't regular.
Also I've been expressing colostrum, but I've started leaking it during the day too which I didnt used to before... could that be another sign?? Like I literally looked down my bra and both nipples had drops of colostrum running from them!

eatthatbueno · 25/10/2020 23:28

Yeah I feel exactly the same. It's frustrating. And I'm not too sure I think I've been leaking since 30 weeks but only tiny dots. If it's only just started now then maybe so!

SqidgeBum · 25/10/2020 23:30

@biscuit13 they are all signs that things are progressing and you may not be far off at all. I have tried expressing colostrum but havent managed it. I didnt BF my last baby so I imagine I am just doing it wrong. I have also tried some nipple stimulation which did result in quite a lot of cramping but nothing that stuck. I have been sniffing clary sage too. I dont think it has actually done anything lol

biscuit13 · 25/10/2020 23:37

@eatthatbueno thats good though if you've been having some too.
@SqidgeBum eek I hope so! I always express after I get out of the shower and do a little bit of massage on them first, took a little while to get the hang of it. If you don't get any though that can be normal too I think so don't worry. I was going to ask about the clary sage... what is it?

SqidgeBum · 25/10/2020 23:42

Clary sage is an essential oil that is supposed to stimulate the uterine muscle. I sniffed it during my last labour too, but it didnt do much then. I had a looooong labour. Really hoping this one is shorter

burntpinky · 25/10/2020 23:47

I’m 39 weeks today and fed up too! Normally in bed by 830 but for about the last week not been able to sleep so downstairs usually until gone 130. 2nd child, already have a 2 year old. Just want baby out now - come on!!!

biscuit13 · 26/10/2020 00:00

So question... would any of you consider a sweep at 39 weeks? My midwife said they can do them from then, but I dont know whether to hold off until 40 weeks if nothing has happened?
Next midwife appointment is Friday and I'll be 39+2. Im hoping it happens on its own before that tbh! Haha

SqidgeBum · 26/10/2020 00:10

@burntpinky I would probably go for it if it was offered to me. I dont have another midwife appointment til 40+4 so I will be leaving it but you may as well if you want things to move along.

eatthatbueno · 26/10/2020 00:10

If it was me I'd wait until 40 weeks but that's just my preference and because my next midwife appt is 40+2 anyway haha. I was going to not do one at all but I'd rather try it out to see if it works to decrease my chances of an induction.

That sounds so tiring haha I can't imagine being pregnant and dealing with a toddler too! Hope your baby comes soon 👶

My waters just broke 😬

I was booked for a sweep at 39 week for the size of the baby (big beastie) but it looks like things are moving without it.

eatthatbueno · 26/10/2020 05:51

Omg what timing haha! How is everything going

OP posts:
Mc3209 · 26/10/2020 05:57

Waters is a gift that keeps on giving... I would definitely recommend keeping some of those maternity pads handy and putting some sort of puppy training pad under the bedsheets!

Having mild irregular contractions at the moment. Let's see what happens.

Mc3209 · 26/10/2020 05:59

Oh and I was worried I wouldn't be to tell the difference between Braxton Hicks and actual contractions - can definitely tell the difference. Real contractions are like bad period pains with belly going hard.
