No point to this thread just so excited to meet my baby Grin Is anyone else due soon or found out they're pregnant recently? It's all so exciting

Have been wearing a mask all afternoon abs no one has told me I can take it off. About to try and get some sleep (ha! This ward is noisy) and I’m hoping I’m not expected to sleep in it! But I’m not in any sort of labour yet as I haven’t had anything done other than a sweep. I’ve been previously told that once you’re in any sort of labour, you don’t need to wear a mask.

Honestly wishing they’d just sent me home. I’ll get no rest here. I think it’s because the labour ward is super busy and if you don’t transfer immediately when there’s an empty room, you lose your slot! Wasn’t expecting to be kept it though, as with the balloon they send you home and call you back when labour ward has a space.

IncyWincySpiderOnRepeat · 01/11/2020 09:29

Thinking of you @FizzingWhizzbee123 hopefully you might be on labour ward by now. We came home yesterday after ELCS on Friday. All went smoothly, little one a good size at 8lb 15. Definitely worth checking about the mask, I didn’t have to wear one at all once admitted, apart from when going to get food. It was like a furnace in the hospital so would have been unbearable wearing a mask at all times too!

eatthatbueno · 01/11/2020 23:34

@FizzingWhizzbee123 How are you getting on? x

I'm 40 weeks tomorrow and no sign of anything :( My midwife said she can give me a sweep at 40+2. Anyone ever had one and did it work for you?

My little boy Bobby was born yesterday at 5:29am, weighing 7lb12oz! He's absolutely perfect!
After on and off contractions for days they finally started getting regular and stronger about 11:30pm Saturday night, took some paracetamol, went to hospital for about 3am, once examined I was 5cm dilated, the MW ran the pool for me (I didn't even plan a water birth or even think about having one) but it did help! They couldn't properly listen to his heartbeat though so I got out and then contractions came very quick and intense and he was born at 5:29am with just a tiny bit of gas and air and a paracetamol 😂
Made all the difference because I had the most amazing midwife who made me feel so safe and confident all the way through!
Good luck to all the ladies still waiting! You won't be pregnant forever 💕

LayTheTableMabel · 02/11/2020 06:55

Congratulations on your new squish @sophs29, sounds like a great experience! Fingers crossed for similar... and soon!

Thank you @eatthatbueno & @LayTheTableMabel fingers crossed for you both too!☺️

Sairafina · 03/11/2020 06:41

I did get my Halloween baby!! He came a super speedy 3 hours after the first contraction, we just about made it to the hospital in time to push! That did mean no epidural though as I was too far dilated so just the good old gas n air to get me through.

How are you getting on @SqidgeBum and @FizzingWhizzbee123 ?

Cindy974 · 03/11/2020 06:57

Im still here 40+2! Had two sweeps and now they've booked me in for an induction on the 8th, praying to go before then though.

We completed our house move last Monday and I’ve been none stop ever since, was hoping that would move things along but no I’ve just been left with extremely swollen feet and ordered to rest Blush

Congratulations to everyone who's had their babies Flowers

SqidgeBum · 03/11/2020 08:35

Congratulations @Sairafina!! I am still here, 40+1 now. I thought things were starting yesterday afternoon with very strong and uncomfortable Braxton hicks every 7 minutes but they tapered off to nothing. I do have back pain and period pains, so hoping things may move today. My toddler had already had 3 tantrums so I am definitely being kept on my toes carrying her to the naughty step 🙄 hoping to get a short walk in today to help move things along. I dont have a sleep booked til friday.

I know I am still a while away, but with the current covid regulations, i just dont want an induction 😭 I was 3 days early with DD1 so this waiting thing is new to me.

How did things go @FizzingWhizbee123

Sls668 · 03/11/2020 09:31

I’m 40+4 today and still very much in the pregnant group. I went for a stretch and sweep yesterday which couldn’t be done as baby’s head isn’t engaged in the slightest. She’s going to check again on Thursday and I’m booked to be induced on Monday which I really don’t want 😩

eatthatbueno · 03/11/2020 09:41

Congratulations @Sairafina Enjoy your time with your newborn❤️

Seems like we're all overdue, I'm 40+2 tomorrow and that's when my midwife will offer me a sweep. Hopefully things start moving for all of us soon, everyday feels like a week just waiting. x

Goodness me! I can’t keep up with j this thread. It seems the Halloween full moon bought on a flurry of births! Congratulations @IncyWincySpiderOnRepeat, @sophs29 and @Sairafina!!

I was taken to the labour ward at 2am on 1 Nov, waters broken at 3am. Contractions didn’t ramp up significantly within the 2 hours so took the epidural and the drip around 6am. DS2 popped out after just four pushes at midday! Got some stitches to contend with thanks to that, but overall not bad for an induction and a lot better than my labour experience with DS1! We came gone late yesterday and settling into life as a family of four Smile

Thinking of you @eatthatbueno, you must be feeling so fed up now. Hoping that sweep does the trick.

I can’t believe you’re still getting all those tightenings and no baby yet @SqidgeBum! Argh! How frustrating. Will be keeping my fingers crossed baby arrives very soon.

biscuit13 · 03/11/2020 12:11

Had a growth scan this morning because midwife wanted to check fluid. All was fine, no worries at all. Im 39+6 so due date is tomorrow! Estimated weight for baby is 7lb 7. Just want baby here now!!

SqidgeBum · 03/11/2020 13:21

Congratulations @Fizzingwhizzbee123 !!! Great to hear it all went well after a bumpy start. Hopefully we will all be joining you soon.

I'm still here...40+3, going for my sweep tomorrow and praying it gets things going. I'm dreading the potential induction! I was 4 days early with my first so this is all so new to me and is just torture!

eatthatbueno · 03/11/2020 17:19

Congratulations @FizzingWhizzbee123 that's lovely to hear.

@biscuit13 Hope your baby arrives soon, the waiting game is frustrating.

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt I hope the sweep gets things moving for you, I have mine tomorrow at 4. Let us know how it goes!

Congratulations to all the new mamas since I was last on, I hope you're all doing well, baby and mums.

I am just reading through as I've been fully immersed in the newborn bubble. Envious of the Halloween/full moon birthdays - I would have love my girl to have Halloween/fancy dress birthday parties every year, maybe we still will 😆

Thinking of all of you still waiting, it won't be long now, get all your cleaning and washing up to date while you can - I haven't done a thing since baby arrived, house is a tip but I'm okay with it (for the first time!!)

Wonder if we'll have any bonfire babies tomorrow 🎇🎆🔥

eatthatbueno · 04/11/2020 18:57

Congratulations @FlowerPig ❤️

I've just been for a sweep today. Although, she couldn't really sweep me. She pulled my cervix forward a little. No sign of anything yet just a bit sore. Hope all you mums and mums to be are doing well. X

Had mine earlier and I'm 2cm dilated and effaced 50% and midwife could tickle baby's head 🤞🤞🤞

eatthatbueno · 05/11/2020 11:18

Bloody water came out this morning went into triage and the midwife said I could be having baby in 24h if not I can be induced which I said yes to. Hope things get moving! And @Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt I hope baby gets moving for you also. ❤️

@eatthatbueno I had a sweep today, and she couldn't really do mine either, she said she could only get about a fingertip in but not enough to sweep properly. :( thats amazing that your waters went though!! Hope my baby will get going now. X

eatthatbueno · 05/11/2020 21:18

@BeMorePacific I'm sorry to hear that I hope things get moving for you. I've been having irregular contractions just trying to stay at home for as long as possible.
