@naomib79 they found out on Twitter. Lol. Oh dear. I can see a bigger lockdown before Xmas so I just need to do what I need to do. My main issue is getting stuck in hospital if something goes a bit wrong with DP sitting at home wasting pat leave (which he will) and also that DS can't visit. He has autism and struggles to be away for me and will obvs be anxious with me in hospital and super excited about baby. Planning on video calls and just hope I can get home after a night or two max. Happy for a nice quiet ward tbh.

I was in for a week after DS and eventually discharged myself which made me popular 🙈😀 and other people's visitors got really annoying esp when loads of them and trying to breastfeed and the midwives want the curtains open. They would steal your chair and sit on your bed if you were not there! Happy for just partners. Though shame siblings aren't allowed even briefly but I get it completely.

Hoping if I do end up in with any complications I can be wheeled outside and see DS there or something. X

@NaomiB79 Ah I’m sorry, I had thought you had said glasgow. Tbh my brain is like a sieve these days and I find I’m getting easily confused 🙈 hope all is well with you today.
My midwife said the same re: twitter and that is how they found out too. Not sure why there is so little communication/ consultation with sectors before rules come in. Sigh. What will be will be I guess!

@Sheera1 Glad you are happy with what you were told and it does sound like where you are the rules haven’t changed too much since wednesday. Fingers crossed it stays that way for you.

Much love ladies xx

Dee96 · 31/10/2020 17:40

@NaomiB79 hope things are picking up for you. Theres only so much netflix one can binge! It's awful that were expected to do it all alone until we reach active labour. Some people can get really anxious in hospitals. The stuff we have to go through right now !!

NaomiB79 · 31/10/2020 17:45

Been waiting all day to see the doctor as she’s been on the labour ward she’s not long seen me.

They didn’t give me more tablets this morning as the midwife thought she had moved and her head wasn’t engaged anymore and said it can be dangerous to give me the tablets if that was the case because the chord can drop down.

Things seemed to have completely stopped but when the doc did the examination she said my cervix was opening and softening a bit but still not enough to break my waters.

She’s put more tablets up there now (sorry tmi) same as yesterday in the hope that that’ll move things on. She thinks the baby’s head is engaged. She said if that doesn’t work they will have a break for 24 hrs and reassess.

They said cos it’s my first baby and I’m only 38 weeks it can take a long time to try and get things moving again.

Just more waiting now.....xx

Well I think we all gonna be on a lockdown for the month which means i will have 11 days till I'm due if lifted by the 2and which news is saying we gonna be in lock down till that's if all goes well no early labour or complications where have to have csection etc so not to bad

Pinktruffle · 31/10/2020 18:13

That sounds really tough @NaomiB79. I hope you are doing ok and just keep hanging in there. Thank you for keeping us updated, I dont know about anyone else but I have been thinking of you today so its good to know how you are doing.

Fingerscrossed baby will be here sooner rather than later

peachypetite · 31/10/2020 19:12

Cannot believe that we started and will end our pregnancies in lockdown.

Dee96 · 31/10/2020 19:45

@peachypetite I know right feels it's all coming full circle. Just when we thought we escaped the worst of it. I think alot of us were hoping by the time our labours were coming around things would be more settled not reversing back. @NaomiB79 oh gosh well I hope you get a good night's rest if anything. Sounds like it's been a long day for you. Hope you dont mind me asking but how many tablets can they try before they call it quits and try the drip? Just wondering since I'm having an induction as well and I've yet to been told anything

Kj1010 · 31/10/2020 19:59

@peachypetite I know just thought about that it does suck but aslong as our babies are healthy and delivered safe that all that matters

Whatinthename20 · 31/10/2020 20:09

Does anyone else’s bump make a popping noise? 🤔

Snowwhite2020 · 31/10/2020 20:09

@NaomiB79 hope things are progressing for you and if not hope you are able to get some rest xxx

Pinktruffle · 31/10/2020 20:11

Agreed @ Kj1010, let's just get them here happy and healthy and hopefully we can all make it through our hospital stays without taking on too much emotional damage.

When they lifted restrictions over the summer, I always thought we would have a second wave come the winter but I thought the government would actually be on top of things like track and trace and have a system in place so things wouldn't be as bad. How wrong I was!

BG1234 · 31/10/2020 20:21

Here’s to us all who’ve managed to time their pregnancy so awfully! We really are special Grin
In all seriousness I’ve had a wobble tonight but we can do this Flowers

Pinktruffle · 31/10/2020 20:26

@BG1234 We just have to make the best of a bad situation. At least we will all have beautiful babies out the other side, we will have a big positive out of a year of awfulness.

I used to ask my mum what her pregnancy was like with me, our babies will get one hell of a story when they ask!!

EithneBlue · 31/10/2020 20:39

@peachypetite - I honestly did not expect this when I saw that positive pregnancy test back in March. Our kids will literally study this in history lessons at school one day.

Jellycat2020 · 31/10/2020 21:07

As my sister said to me "I know you like a challenge but growing a baby during a world-wide pandemic is something else....!" 😂 Come on ladies, we can do this! Like @Pinktruffle said, we get such a lovely gift out of a really crappy year ♥

Kj1010 · 31/10/2020 21:10

They will all be special babies no one else can say they were growing and born in the year 2020 in a pandemic

kkr168 · 31/10/2020 21:19

My hospital have done an announcement on facebook already to say there will be no changes. Partners can still attend 20 week scan (recently reintroduced), partners welcome for whole birth, induction, caesarean, etc & they are welcome to visit between 9am - 9pm providing they have had a negative covid result. So happy to see that update!!
Now just need to see if the construction industry can carry on, so DH can earn some money!

peachypetite · 31/10/2020 21:34

I know. When I got my positive test in March I was worried and it was shit not seeing a midwife until 28 weeks but I felt like by the time the baby was here things would have improved. It feels like nothing has changed!!

Snowwhite2020 · 31/10/2020 21:49

@kkr168 from
What boris said it would like he wants construction to continue going into work so you should be all fine xx

Snowwhite2020 · 31/10/2020 21:50

*sounds like

Babyhope98 · 31/10/2020 22:29

@Whatinthename20 I’ve had this a few times I thought I was imagining it, it’s like when you pull your cheek with your finger pop 😂 love if someone knew the reason why 🤔

Kj1010 · 31/10/2020 22:32

How do u check hospital guidelines

Pinktruffle · 31/10/2020 22:44

@kj1010 most have the guidance either on the Facebook pages or published on the hospital's website

Pinktruffle · 31/10/2020 22:46

@EithneBlue I was actually discussing that with the Head of Histroy at my school a few weeks ago! He's already looking at ways of working it in to the curriculum Halloween Grin
