@Pinktruffle ty nothing has been put up as of yet

LRHRN · 01/11/2020 08:18

@Babyhope98 @Whatinthename20 I get this all the time and I'm convinced it's baby having a little trump 😂 xx

peachypetite · 01/11/2020 11:31

Happy November!!
Ladies intending to breastfeed can I ask if you have got bottles and sterilising things too?

Snowwhite2020 · 01/11/2020 11:33

@peachypetite I have a few bottles and a tin of breast milk substitute in the cupboard in case of emergencies. FTM so don’t know how I will get on with BF but gonna try.

@NaomiB79 hope things are either progressing well or you’re home for a break hun xx

alphabetti · 01/11/2020 11:44

@peachypetite my plan is to breastfeed but I have got a steriliser and bottles too. I will use it regardless for when I return to work and got it cheap from my partners cousin who bought it just incase but never used it. I was told by midwife at hospital to take ready made formula just incase so have bought some small cartons and got a large carton to have ready at home just incase. If then need to go buy tin of powder formula can just get that from supermarket when needed.

peachypetite · 01/11/2020 11:46

My midwife has said no need to take formula in to hospital if intending to breastfeed. But just because of these weird times we are in I’m now scared people will panic buy and I won’t be able to just rely on walking down to my supermarket and getting some. One of my friends gave birth earlier this year and it took her a while to get to grips with breastfeeding. Baby lost too much weight so they got readmitted and I would rather supplement with formula than end up like that.

Sheera1 · 01/11/2020 12:07

I plan to breastfeed again if I can. I swear it is mainly down to the baby and them knowing what to do.

However, I do plan to introduce a bottle feed a day as soon as is feasible. I almost killed myself last time feeding and expressing and got it drilled I to me that formula was the devil by health visitors once I was breast feeding.

I think a bottle gives me a break and DP time to bond and he/she will be exclusively breast fed if it works at the start and then mainly thereafter.

That is my nice plan that will probably all go to gell anyway 😀

Thinking of you @naomib79 xx

Sheera1 · 01/11/2020 12:08

I mean bottle of formula not expressed milk. Will be going nowhere near a pump this time

lc86 · 01/11/2020 12:24

@Jwl45 fingers crossed you can go home the next day!! I'm getting my c section date on 17th November when I next have the consultant and they said providing all goes smoothly I can go home the next day. Which seems crazy after an operation but so grateful given the current situation!! Especially with siblings not being allowed to visit so will be anxious to get home so my little ones can meet their brother 😊

lc86 · 01/11/2020 12:26

@Sheera1 I'm desperately hoping to breastfeed this time, I've done so much research but like you said a lot of it is down to the baby I think. Praying he knows what to do 🙊 only good thing about lockdown is we will have plenty of time at home to perfect it with our little ones x

loobeelou · 01/11/2020 12:54

With DS I was planning to exclusively breastfeed but it didn't work out that way, I had low supply and we needed to dual feed. I hadn't bought any bottles or formula in advance, cue mad dash for DH to supermarket when we were coming home 😂

I would recommend having a bottle and either a carton of ready made or a tin of formula in reserve.

I think we'll dual feed DS when she gets here, more prepped this time though.

BG1234 · 01/11/2020 13:11

Interesting advice on breastfeeding @Sheera1 @loobeelou
As a ftm I am hoping to breastfeed but have heard some stories from close friends/family who it hasn’t worked out for. So I’ve bought a pack of the pre-made bottles, just in case.

I had also thought about partner doing some feeding so he can bond ( and I can get some sleep) but am interested to know- was expressing a bit of a nightmare? Did dual feeding with formula work better?

Pinktruffle · 01/11/2020 13:45

Any other FTM's (or none-FTM's infact) that are starting to feel quite scared? I'm really worried about how I'm going to cope with a newborn. I like sleep. I will have had a C-Section and will be trying to recover, how do you do that with a newborn who needs you for everything? What if I'm just terrible at it all?!

Dee96 · 01/11/2020 13:49

Tmi here but has anyone been experiencing watery discharge? I dont know if its because were in the end stage now but I've had it for over a week now and it's getting abit overboard to the point that I'm just liners all the time and waking up to soaked undies. I'm assuming if it was fluid it would have been picked up on the scan I had last week so just abit confused if it's a normal symptom and abit fed up from the uncomfortableness of it

I might have a c-section too. Depends on my tomorrow's appointment if baby is still breech. It will be my 36+4 appointment. Would like to also know how other girls were coping with recovery and looking after baby. Luckily, my OH will be on paternity leave for a month which is amazing x
Snowwhite2020 · 01/11/2020 14:05

@Pinktruffle I can relate

Pinktruffle · 01/11/2020 14:10

@Dee96 I would speak to a midwife/triage just to make sure it's not a slow water break - that does happen, it's not often that the gush you see on TV happeneds. Just give them a call and see what they say. I've had more discharge but it's been the mucusy type. I know everyone is different so it may be normal what you are experiencing but I would ask.

@MsBee13 My DH only has 2 weeks but will be working from home so will still be around to help me as much as I need. He also had a lot of annual leave to take as he's been saving it so I will hopefully be well looked after. He does everything for me already so will probably be the same afterwards, I just worry about how I'll cope physically and whether I have it in me....

I'm having the same. It's getting more and more as closed to due date x
Pinktruffle · 01/11/2020 14:11

@Snowwhite2020 Yeah I'm in the Midlands and Covid is running rampant here which is an extra worry! Just knowing I can't call my mum and say 'come and help me' (she lives 2 hours away) makes me sad.

My OH is the same. Doing everything for me already which I can't be more grateful about.

Of course you have it in you, every woman has! You just have to believe all will be fine and just go with a flow. Don't be too harsh on yourself. Our mums and grandmas did it, we will do too! We have to be strong - we can do it 💪🏼❤️

Whatinthename20 · 01/11/2020 15:39

@Dee96 I have watery discharge almost daily too. Mostly in the mornings and after I’ve emptied my bladder, so I’m thinking it may be im not emptying properly or I need to work on my pelvic floorBlush I have read on here though that discharge can get watery towards the end.

Dee96 · 01/11/2020 15:47

@MsBee13 that's a little bit of a relief. I've honestly been sitting here driving my self crazy trying to work out if it was a leak or just normal around this stage. I dont know if it's still worth calling to check out. I'm putting it down to babys head being engaged and the pressure plus all the hormones. It's going to sound really bad but the thought of being told to come in is so off putting, especially when my little one is due in less than 9 days now

If you are not sure or worried, just call the triage x

Dee96 · 01/11/2020 16:55

@MsBee13 I'm on the phone to them right now...just been on hold for ages. Hopefully I can get through to someone tonight x
