Hi Guys I am home safe. Everything was ok so that's good. I was a broken women when I got home though. Thank you so much for your lovely messages.

@NaomiB79 hope everything is going well for you and baby. Sp excited. Can't wait for an update.

NaomiB79 · 29/10/2020 19:42

Hi all thanks for all of your messages, I really appreciate them. I had the first lot of induction drugs about 3.30pm, they said they could see some small contractions when they put me on the monitor but I'm not really feeling much yet.

We arrived to be told my DP wasn't allowed in with me after the announcement yesterday so he can’t come down until I’m on the labour ward which will be when I’m 4cm dilated which could be tomorrow.

I’m okay tho got my own room with my own bathroom and loads of things downloaded on my phone to watch and a couple of magazines.

Went for a walk about after dinner as they said that could help get things moving and just hoping things start to progress a bit more quickly now xx

Snowwhite2020 · 29/10/2020 19:52

@NaomiB79 so glad you have your own room and lots of entertainment. That is not great about your DP. I have heard rumours about changes to maternity visits and partners in Scotland but watched the news and it didn’t say anything specifically. Xx

Snowwhite2020 · 29/10/2020 19:52

Hope things progress quickly for you lovely- so exciting!!! Xx

MsBee13 · 29/10/2020 20:10

Exciting @naomiB79
At ny induction the night I had some cramps enough to ask for paracetamol and keep me awake a fair bit.

I asked about partners today (I am Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS). She said my partner can wait with me for my c section slot and during and in recovery but they are only allowed on the ward for an allotted 2 hours. However, it could all change over the next 2 weeks.

Hope labour moves on quickly tomorrow and he can get in to be with you. I was a long exhausting day for me. Xxx

Snowwhite2020 · 30/10/2020 10:49

Thinking of you @NaomiB79 xx

Babyhope98 · 30/10/2020 10:52

Had my growth scan today she’s measuring straight on the 90th centile so no big spurt. They said she’s 6.7 pounds no wonder I’m feeling so tired these days carrying her around 😂 god knows how big she’ll be if I go 40 weeks or even more 😳

peachypetite · 30/10/2020 10:53

@NaomiB79 eeeeeeeeeeek! Hope things are moving in the right direction.

Bluebell2020 · 30/10/2020 18:42

@excitednerves @confused107 just wondering how you are both getting on? I had another scan today and they've booked me in for induction next Friday when I will be 37 weeks. Part of me is excited and the other part terrified!

Kj1010 · 30/10/2020 18:45

I'm looking forward to my scan tuesday to see if little man has moved and how much he weighs now currently feeling either heartbeat or hiccups ino it's not movement lol also so great to know my partner is now feeling him move he said to me that last night while I was asleep he had hand on belly and baby was moving loads so that's reassuring lol hope @naomiB79 things are going well for you

Babyhope98 · 30/10/2020 19:15

How comes they are inducing you @Bluebell2020 if you don’t mind me asking 😊 you were due the day before me I’m quite envious, I’m getting impatient now 😅

excitednerves · 30/10/2020 19:28

@Bluebell2020 @confused107 sorry I meant to pop on here today to update but it’s been crazy! Scan went well yesterday, baby is still around the 10th centile but hasn’t dropped any lower so maybe she’s just going to be a dainty little one? I’m having another scan at 37 weeks to see how she’s doing then.

Good luck with your induction! Although I’m sure the process isn’t great, it’ll be so exciting to meet your little one!

confused107 · 30/10/2020 19:52

Hi @Bluebell2020 and @excitednerves

I also had a scan today. They were ok with the growth (5lb at 35+1) and she is following a growth line which is positive. Back at 37 weeks to check its still all ok. If it is they will scan me again at 39 weeks and give me a date for induction at that appointment either on or just before my due date due to my other risk factors (I'm 39 and had IVF) they think the risk of going over is too high

Is there a reason why they are inducing you at 37 weeks @Bluebell2020? From what I've read 37 weeks is a good place to get to as everything is all developed by then

Bluebell2020 · 30/10/2020 19:53

@Babyhope98 Don't worry I don't mind at all. My baby has growth restriction so she's measuring below 3rd centile. They've decided it's safer for her to be brought at 37 weeks than leave me any longer but we've done well to get this far as at one point we were looking at 33 weeks. I really wish she was well enough to stay in a few more weeks but it's just one of those things!

@excitednerves I'm so glad to hear she's staying 10th centile that's really positive! Really good they're not scanning again until 37 weeks as well. And thank you. We're excited but terrified. My husband isn't allowed in until established labour either so it'll be a bit rubbish when he has to leave me at the door with my bags! x

Bluebell2020 · 30/10/2020 20:03

@confused107 @excitednerves

The doppler actually went well today and the vessels were all working fine but I've got low amniotic fluid now and protein in my urine. My placenta is also really calcified. The amniotic fluid had changed quite a lot from my scan a week ago and baby also isn't as active this week so they've said there's no point going over 37 weeks as she will be safer out than in. The consultant said that even though she had a really good growth spurt in the previous two weeks she was still under 3rd centile so it was unlikely she was going to put enough on to take her over.

@confused107 that's really good news about your scan! Not long left now for you either. I'm really really happy with getting to 37 weeks. Hopefully she will need little to no help when she will arrives! Quite scary though as my brother's wife was induced yesterday for being over due and we've gone from having babies 5 weeks apart to having then 1 week apart 🙈

Babyhope98 · 30/10/2020 20:15

Oh bless you, good you’ll be at what they class as full term when they’re delivered. Hope you won’t be without your partner for long and you get into established labour quickly x @Bluebell2020

Nic2908 · 30/10/2020 20:33

@NatalieH2220 how is it going??

Dee96 · 30/10/2020 21:27

Seems like alot of us are having inductions. Has anyone heard of the big baby trial? I got presented with it today since my little one's belly is sizing quite big for my tiny self! The whole sound of it being a "trial" makes me abit sceptical because I dont want my pregnancy to just be part of an experiment. But at the same time it means baby will be here by the 10th which I'm so excited for Grin

Snowwhite2020 · 30/10/2020 22:28

@Dee96 that sounds like an interesting trial. I have not heard of it. Do you know what they are looking into? Xx

Snowwhite2020 · 30/10/2020 22:30

It looks like it might be this? warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/med/research/ctu/trials/bigbaby

Nic2908 · 30/10/2020 22:40

@Dee96 what is this trial??

Dee96 · 30/10/2020 23:24

@Nic2908 @Snowwhite2020 From what I can gather (it was very briefly touched upon by the dr to me) it's a trail where women that are not on medication during pregnancy are offered the choice of an early induction, at 38 weeks usually, to help prevent the risk of encountering shoulder shoulder dystocia. Meaning basically anyone with a baby ranging big on the growth chart could face the challenge of the shoulders getting stuck. According to the dr I spoke to its had a good rate of positive outcomes so far (so he says). To be honest I was just abit taken back by this take on my labour, my whole pregnancy had been gearing up to baby being big and I was constantly told I would most likely be induced before she reaches the 4kg stage, shes already 3.5kg. But this seems more an experimental approach rather than for my own best interest which is what threw me. I'm due to have a talk with a midwife consultant for more info so I guess we will see what it entails
