Anyone packed their hospital bags yet?

kkr168 · 26/10/2020 15:20

@peachypetite I'm almost done with the hospital bag, babies bag is completely done, my bag is almost there, need to sort out drink/snack bag.
My bag has toiletries, towel, 2 x nighties, underwear, nursing bra, pads, cheap flip flops for the shower, tens machine, need to add an outfit or 2 (probably leggings & baggy tops) & phone charger. I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting but I'll slowly add to it over the next few weeks.

NaomiB79 · 26/10/2020 16:59

I've been at the hospital for my weekly monitoring and after a very long day we have a plan! I’m getting induced on Thursday due to a combination of factors (mainly high BP and finally getting to speak to a doc who recognises the potential risks of delivering a baby on the 100% centile). Excited and terrified all at the same time! They said it could take a while as I’m not showing any early signs of being in labour and once I’m in, I’m in as I need to be constantly monitored for BP etc, but good news is my DP is allowed in from 1pm - 8pm on the ward where I'll be once I'm induced until we go to the labour ward.

Asianchick6693 · 26/10/2020 17:14

@jalu47 just had my second high reading of blood glucose too and said they're going to treat it like I have GD, although majority of my readings have been really good and she said these two readings seemed random. Seems long winded having to measure the blood glucose daily ugh! But she's put me in for extra scans and I think I'm going to meet them next week to discuss diet etc.

Babyhope98 · 26/10/2020 17:18

Oh gosh how exciting!! @NaomiB79 not long at all get plenty of rest in until Thursday 😆

peachypetite · 26/10/2020 17:18

Omg @NaomiB79, Thursday!! When was your due date?

lionsmum · 26/10/2020 17:18

@peachypetite I keep putting it off, maybe next week or the following😅

@NaomiB79 oh I'm sorry you've had such a stressful day! But what exciting news. You will be feeling all of the feelings right about now I'm sure. Wishing you all the best! And that's great news about your DP being allowed to stay with you on the ward for so long, I hope it all goes smoothly for you. Will you be doing some last minute quick organising or were you almost there anyway?

jalu47 · 26/10/2020 17:21

@Asianchick6693 - its a pain isn't it, I'm constantly having to set alarms!

I had a fairly good weekend except a high reading last night so emailed in my results and got an response from the consultant and a really long phone call from the dietician. She said they have officially given me the diagnosis and that I'll manage with diet and exercise for the moment. Got to be really good now and cursing myself for buying lots of Daim bars in ikea yesterday lol. If I'm managing diet really well and I still get high readings, then they will think about metformin.

LRHRN · 26/10/2020 17:32

Hi Ladies just wondered if anyone was in a similar situation.
I'm 35+ weeks and had a GTT at 28weeks which was normal, I had this as my dad is diabetic no other reason.
I've seen the midwife today and have high glucose in my urine so have to have bloods done on Wednesday has anyone else had this?

My baby is also transverse and hasn't moved position since 16weeks so will be having a scan next week to check positioning as it isn't safe at the moment for me to go into labour naturally in case of a cord prolapse.
My midwife hasn't really explained the next steps so I'm hoping you lovely ladies can help who have been in similar situations.
Is it likely I'll need a csection?
Will I have to be admitted for monitoring incase my waters break? (Read on a blog)
Will this be planned for before due date?

Thanks in advance ❤️

jalu47 · 26/10/2020 17:48

@NaomiB79 super exciting news - eek not long now!

jalu47 · 26/10/2020 17:53

@LRHRN myself and @Asianchick6693 are both monitoring for high blood glucose. I also had a normal FGTT at 30+5 but my growth scan at 32 (which was for other medical reasons) showed a very big baby so started monitoring and just got the diagnosis. Managing with diet and exercise at the moment. The dietician said on the phone that it is happening more often that women are getting normal FGTT but then showing up with GD during other routine stuff.. Fingers crossed your bloods are ok but maybe daily monitoring is something to ask about as one off bloods can be deceptive as our previous tests have shown

excitednerves · 26/10/2020 18:03

@Bluebell2020 great news on the growth spurt! Fingers crossed it continues. I have a 1 year old so resting is a challenge! 🙈 I’m keeping him in nursery two days a week so hopefully I can get some extra naps in on those days!

I’ll let you know how I go on Thursday, and good luck to you @confused107 for Friday.

My bags are packed and ready to go whenever baby (or the consultant) decide it’s time.

LRHRN · 26/10/2020 18:20

@jalu47 thanks for you reply.
Ok so it's not something that's unusual then. I'll see what's said on Wednesday 😊 hopefully they will know more when bloods come back and when I've been for a scan.

Asianchick6693 · 26/10/2020 18:25

@jalu47 @LRHRN I had just a blood test instead of the OGTT because of covid which came back normal but glucose was found in my urine twice so that's why they decided to monitor me. My baby has been measuring normal so far but these high readings for me are so random as after anything sugary my BS has been normal but today I had some rice and chicken for lunch with water and that caused a high reading so not sure what's going on! I don't know if I have true GD but will figure out once I speak to someone. I've been feeling super tired and low on energy but I'm also low on iron so it could be a combination of the two, who knows!

All the best to you girls, we don't have long left! As long as we're being looked at I think that's the most reassuring thing.

NatalieH2220 · 26/10/2020 18:33

First day off work today (holiday for 2 weeks before maternity kicks in) and I now have what resembles a hospital bag. Just washing the babies clothes and need to catch up on our washing then can finish it this week. Tomorrow's plan is batch cooking!

NaomiB79 · 26/10/2020 18:38

Thanks all, I was pretty organised bag was all packed, but hadn't packed much for me to wear so might need to throw in a few more clothes if I'm going to be in longer than I thought.

I was due 13th Nov so I'll be 37 + 6 on Thursday. They are fully developed at 37 weeks so I'm happy to be induced early xx

loobeelou · 26/10/2020 19:01

Best of luck @NaomiB79, hopefully you can get some rest before Thursday.

Snowwhite2020 · 26/10/2020 19:21

@NaomiB79 that is such exciting news and I know from speaking backwards and forwards with you on here the last little while how frustrating it can be not to have a consultant acknowledge the risks if you have been getting big measurements. I am
So glad you are feeling listened to now and are happy with the plan they have come up with for you! Keep us posted and I guess you’ll find out soon how accurate the scans have been! At 37 weeks the baby should still be a very manageable size for VB (maybe as others have said the baby will even be small!?) All the love to you and you’re gonna be a mama soon!! xx

LRHRN · 26/10/2020 19:31

@Asianchick6693 yea you're right aslong as we are being monitored.
What strange readings though 🤔
Fingers crossed our baby's arrive safe and soon❤️

Babyhope98 · 26/10/2020 21:12

Anyone else feeling really thirsty. Can’t seem to quench my thirst today 🤔 feeling a bit drained too probably from last nights disturbed sleep 😴

Sheera1 · 26/10/2020 21:59

Oooh @naomiB79 that is exciting. Inhave my scan on Thursday and will be 37 weeks give a day. I am glad they are finally listening and good to have a plan.

My DP has to go away this week for work and is 4 hours drive away. They were wantingbyim away the week before I am due and he told them no and then they bombarded him this morning to go tomorrow. Hopefully no early appearance and with my presentation and c section they might whip baby out before he can get here. That would cause some massive rifts to be sure. DS was 2 weeks overdue though so hoping this one stays put. C section is 3 weeks today all being well on Thursday X

NatalieH2220 · 27/10/2020 06:33

@Babyhope98 I was like this last week just couldn't drink enough and I'm usually not a huge drinker. Seems to have passed now though, no idea what caused it.

LRHRN · 27/10/2020 07:13

@Sheera1 can I please ask why you are having a scan and planned section?
You've mentioned cause of presentation.
I can't find your previous posts.
My baby is transverse and I'm being booked for a scan next week but haven't really been told what happens after this.
😊

Jwl45 · 27/10/2020 08:16

@NaomiB79 ah my due date buddy.....how exciting!! Not long now! It's great your partner can be with you for that long too. Good job you're all organised and packed. I'm having my C-section date tomorrow after my extra growth scan. Washing some baby sheets and I'll be ready. Lol. Best wishes to you xx enjoy these next couple of days ... Feet up x

NaomiB79 · 27/10/2020 09:25

@Snowwhite2020 thanks for your lovely words, will be interesting to see what size she is and how accurate the scans were. I'll post when I have some news. Keep us up to date with how you are getting on too! X

@Jwl45 sounds like both of our babies will be here before our due dates and that you are pretty organised too. Take care, you'll feel more relaxed once you have a date in xx
