@Jellycat2020 @Pinktruffle I get back pain up high too- at my waist. I’m a size 28/30 on bras too and I reckon as you say it’s just all the extra baggage throwing off your centre of gravity! The only thing that works for me is to lie on my side with a pretty thick pillow between my legs and chill for a bit and it eases off. There’s a few yoga type stretches that are quite good (but very basic) if you google that stretches your back off a bit xx

Pinktruffle · 25/10/2020 15:59

@EithneBlue how have I not heard of that beforr! I'm not sure its worth it with so little time left but I may Google and see if I can get one on the cheap.

@Jellycat2020 DH has been massaging my back for me too, I've got a muscle ache massage bar from Lush which he has been usuing and it helps. I think they may do a pregnancy specific one so I may yake a look on the website. I never thought of heat (think because I'd been told to avoid hot water bottles in early pregnancy so they left my brain) but might try that tonight.

Thanks @Snowwhite2020, I will look up some yoga stretches too and see if they help.

Jellycat2020 · 25/10/2020 16:19

@Pinktruffle one of my community midwives (the not nice one!) said I wasn't meant to use any heat patches or hot water bottles at all but a midwife at the hospital said it was absolutely fine - I could have kissed her as I was in so much pain, it would make me cry.

MsBee13 · 25/10/2020 16:25

@Pinktruffle I'm due in a month tomorrow too and really thinking about the c-section as my baby was breech last time I had my midwife appointment.

I'm sorry to hear about your pains. I hope it goes away soon otherwise all this is going to be a past in a few weeks times! 🤞🏼 x

EithneBlue · 25/10/2020 17:16

@Pinktruffle - I only have it because a friend let me borrow hers: I now would not be without it. Try ebay as they're easy to wash :-)

Jwl45 · 25/10/2020 18:02

Hi all. Hope you're all well.
Random.... I wonder if anyone has been told by midwife... I am opting for a foot soak tonight...summer flip flops have taken their toll....
I have just received a foot pack from Tropic.... Got all excited... But the foot soak has peppermint in it. I have read not to use... Then on another site somewhere just read that it's controversial but ok to use.... Confused.
Amy ideas anyone? I'm 37+2

Snowwhite2020 · 25/10/2020 19:08

@Jwl45 how strange I was away to do exactly the same thing! I had not thought to even look up about peppermint...

Jwl45 · 25/10/2020 19:45

@snowwhite2020 ... It's amazing what they say you can't use! I did see somewhere that heel genius is great for pregnant feet..... (I love soap and glory!) But contains benzyl salycilate (not sure I've spelt that right!!) And that's a no apparently! Although my midwives had never heard of not using that ingredient!
I've opted for Nivea tonight lol.

december2020 · 25/10/2020 20:05

Aww thank you everyone for your great advice and kind words and support! We've done a morning Ikea trip to get some drawers of the nursery and I've finally ordered a next to me cot thing. I've just finished doing 5-6 hours of work so now finally sitting down to enjoy my evening before Monday creeps up again!
@Babyhope98 I'll try that and see if the GP and surgery could do that for me as well.
@jalu47 sleep has been ok, some nights like a log and some nights it takes a bit longer COD I'm thinking about work (and how I can manage the deadlines) not healthy I know. Today's extra hour was such a treat though! How did your IKEA trip go?
@peachypetite I'll give HR another try and see what they say. Hopefully they can help in some capacity.
@Bluebell2020 oh wow! That's crazy seeing the impact of it all once you stopped and how your baby has had the amazing growth! I'm hoping hr or the gp can help as a first port of call. Otherwise, I may need to try self certify and hope there is no expectation of working anyways.
@NaomiB79 I'll try take a couple of strategic days off and I think I'll feel a lot better. I just want to time them a little so I don't leave the rest of the team in the lurch either.

On the water birth note: that would be my first choice for sure! Then potentially a home birth (if allowed) as I'm a bit hesitant to spend days at the hospital alone with the 1 hour birth partner visitor hour slot a day, I'd rather recover at home if I had the choice and opportunity.

kkr168 · 25/10/2020 20:21

Has anyone set up baby's bed yet?
We have a next to me & wondering when to set it up, I'm thinking around 37 weeks?! We need to re-arrange our room a tiny bit, mainly move the bedside drawers, so that the crib fits.

We test drove a Peugeot 5008 today, I was worried it would be huge as it's a 7 seater but it was so nice to drive. Have 1 more test drive arranged in a Seat Tarraco before deciding which to go for!

excitednerves · 25/10/2020 21:51

Hi all. Just catching up after a crazy few days. DS has had a throat infection and it’s been insane. All better now though and somehow it’s suddenly my last week at work! Eeek!

To everyone whose babies were measuring small, how are you getting on? I’m back on Thursday for scan 3 and hoping she hasn’t dropped centile again as I’m worried about what they might do if she has.

We’ve picked a name (and diminutive nickname) so I can’t wait to meet her now!

Seems like there’s lots going on, I hope you’re all doing ok. X

Babyhope98 · 26/10/2020 03:39

Up at this ridiculous hour. The baby had been quiet yesterday I think she likes a lazy Sunday as I think she often is. But I woke up in the night for a wee and felt nothing, I wanted a kick of reassurance before going off again but I was trying everything and she wasn’t moving I really started to panic. I had a Ribena and after 20 minutes she’s been bouncing about thank god. Shall I not worry now? Really did scare me as she was refusing to move for ages 😩 x

peachypetite · 26/10/2020 04:54

@Babyhope98 me too! Baby movements felt more muffled yesterday (I do have an anterior placenta) but I’ve come down (unable to sleep) and had some tea and cake and feels stronger.

Babyhope98 · 26/10/2020 06:49

Mines posterior so I don’t really miss her movements now she’s bigger. I think she has always had a tendency to be quiet on the weekends, I had felt her every few hours but she hadn’t done as many kicks as other days. So when I woke up and didn’t feel her at all I started to kick myself thinking that I should have gone in. I think she must have been in a deep sleep as she started bouncing about after a while and I’ve woken up again and she’s moving I started to panic waking my partner up and was just about to ring in before she started 😅 @peachypetite

Sheera1 · 26/10/2020 08:58

@Babyhope98 and @peachypetite
I have done that a few times usually first thing early morning at 6am ish. Baby usually responds as soon as I put my hand on my bump but twice was almost an hour till movements. I proper freaked out, but then the sod kicked me the rest of the day.

When I called triage to ask as it was a change in pattern then "lovely" midwife said "it doesn't have a clock in there you know". I was not very happy to say the least.

I asked my nice midwife when I saw her and as long as baby is kicking now and the magic number seems to be 10 kicks in an hour if you lie down and focus they would not take you in to check you out as all ok. If you go 2 hours and little to no movement you should call.

It is very hard to keep calm in these last few weeks. I have had to bring myself in off a ledge a few times.

@kk168 I have a next to me and thinking this weekend at 37 weeks to set it up. I need to move my bed too as not enough space between bed and wall on my side.

Jwl45 · 26/10/2020 08:58

@peachypetite @Babyhope98
Same here. Spent the morning busy doing housework - so always find it hard then to concentrate and monitor. Watched a film.. she was busy. Evening and before bed a bit quieter.... Hubby reckons she has no idea about the time change with the hour going back and that's the cause... Lol. Went to bed a bit earlier than normal so didn't feel those big 11pm movements.
Woke this morning.... Didn't feel anything, lay on my side...nothing for a while so started panicking....
Thankfully then, she moved for me. Have since come downstairs and she's been wriggling about here. I'm going to have a lazy day... To just concentrate on the times and movements.. for my own sanity.
It is such a worry isn't it? I did go in last week for reduced movement - all was well. I think Id had a busy day.. not concentrated and then had no idea of how much she had moved etc. Got myself into a right old flap!

Babyhope98 · 26/10/2020 09:29

I will defiantly keep an eye on her today too. She has been moving about which is comforting. My partner was not pleased at me waking him up in the middle of the night 😂 He has a laid back attitude and just says she’s resting I don’t think they understand how much it’s reiterated to keep an eye on movements. She actually started to move once I woke him up, I think perhaps it was me talking that finally brought her around the little minx 😂

Kj1010 · 26/10/2020 09:38

Morning all I 9officially have 10 days left at work after half term cant wait the lady they brought in to shadow me is still very slow so my last 10ndays will be to push her to be a bit faster re baby movements when I see both my consultant and midwife I was told aslong as u feel them move no there pattern you shouldn't really worry my little one tends to move mid morning to early afternoon I dont count how many times he kicks and I'm not worried either then he goes quiet for the rest 9f the afternoon and will start kicking again when I eat which is normally around 7ish I get kicks inbetween the normal pattern but not every day I dont know if it's because I'm a 4tm that I'm not as worried as use or what I just know if summat was off I wud be up that hospital this pregnancy has been so relaxed and relatively easy so far not to jinx it I'm very surprised as i thought being a older mum and all the problems u cud have etc defo thought I'd have some lol i have 6 weeks basically to go and I'm also wondering when to set up moses basket steraliser prep machine etc I'm gonna wash baby bits once on maternity and do hospital bag mid to end november but dunno whether to leave my partner to do all the setting up while I'm in hospital also question are any of you ladies taking car seat into hospital when u go into labour I've yet to ask if we are ment to because of covid as I no most hospitals have been bringing u and baby down to front door when u get discharged

Sheera1 · 26/10/2020 10:27

I have an angelcare wireless sensor Pad and monitor but using a chicco next to me Crib at first and the base of the mattress is hard. I am thinking the Pad won't work with it because of the hard surface about it.

Does anyone know for sure if these work and still pick up movements and breathing?

confused107 · 26/10/2020 10:49

Hi @excitednerves I'm measuring small too and have another growth scan on Friday at 35 weeks. I feel like I've had a growth spurt so hope she has too. How far along are you now

I ditto everyone else's thoughts on movements. I'm constantly worried. I'm getting regular movements but they feel different. More drags and rolls than kicks. I'm hoping that's ok

Interesting point about the Angel care monitor @Sheera1 I have one and was planning on using it in the Snuzpod. Hadn't thought for a minute that it might not work

excitednerves · 26/10/2020 10:56

Hey @confused107 I’ll be 34+5 when I go in for my scan on Thursday. I’m the same, kicks feel different, sometimes really strong belly-wobblers but most days just feels like baby is changing position and they’re much more gentle. There have been a few times I would have normally gone to hospital to check movement but I don’t want to go on my own. I’m scared of being left for hours in triage stressed and alone, I’d rather stress at home with my husband here. I know that’s silly.

jalu47 · 26/10/2020 10:59

@december2020 good luck with the GP today, hope they can help with giving you some time off... ikea was pretty successful but pretty busy! We bought quite a bit but specifically a highback chair and footstool for the nursery that I'm really pleased with.

@kkr168 we've already set up our snuzpod (only 33 weeks), mainly to get the box out of the way. We also put up our snuzkot and glad we did cause its faulty and has to go back which could be a 2 weeks process.... also we just got the Peugeot 3008 and absolutely love it, really spacious and a great drive, would definitely recommend.

I've just had a note from the obstetrician saying my glucose is consistent with GD but no need for metformin just yet, awaiting a call from the dietician - i know i'm going to have to cut down / out sugar and carbs and it's going to be very hard!! I don't normally have a sweet tooth but this pregnancy has made be crave it!

confused107 · 26/10/2020 12:58

We are about the same then as I will be 35+1 on Friday

I know what you mean about going in on your own, but so if you are worried. It's better to be safe than sorry. I thought about it a couple of times this weekend, but my husband could feel her moving with his hands when I couldn't. Think I might be getting used to some of the more subtle movements

Bluebell2020 · 26/10/2020 13:37

@excitednerves @confused107

I've got a small baby (3rd centile) My first few growth scans she followed the 3rd centile curve then at 33 weeks she had dropped and barely grown in 2 weeks. Had another growth scan on Friday at 35 weeks and she had had a huge growth spurt and had put on the biggest jump in weight! It just goes to show you literally have to take each scan at a time and just see what happens. We've gone from potentially delivering this week (I'm 36 weeks on Friday) to aiming for 38 weeks now!

It might just be coincidence but the 2 weeks where she has had a massive growth spurt I've literally been so lazy. I decided to finish work and resting on the sofa as much as possible and eating as much as possible. Also made sure I got plenty of sleep 😂 x

confused107 · 26/10/2020 13:41

That's really interesting @Bluebell2020 Amazing news on the growth spurt. Also interesting what you say about resting. I know I'm busy, though I am considering leaving work a week early at 37 as I'm so tired, despite working from home. Going to see what they say on Friday
