@Jwl45 I sleep with a pillow between my legs and another pillow in front of my bump (not underneath) and it helps a lot with leg/hip pains during the night. Maybe worth a try? X

kkr168 · 19/10/2020 03:18

Yet another night of barely any sleep, I'm literally exhausted all day but then only getting about 3 hours sleep at night.

Jwl45 · 19/10/2020 06:43

@MsBee13 thank you, will try that tonight as last night's plan was an epic fail. Not sure how many hours sleep I've had. . .. but know it's not much lol. Stiff left leg... So ended up switching to right... A lot more than usual- (I've been told recently left side is best - although either side ok. ) and a kind of burn pain if that makes sense , on top of bump. The joys eh.
Doesn't help that my husband seems to be having he most wonderful sleep....😴😴😴 The heavy breathing is almost warranting a clout! 😂

peachypetite · 19/10/2020 07:31

Oh ladies seems like everyone is struggling with the sleep at this point. I’m up what feels like every two hours needing a wee. Tossing snd turning from side to side. Sad

MsBee13 · 19/10/2020 08:07

Good morning ladies. Update on sleep. I had a very good sleep tonight. No pains in legs/hips, no braxton hicks either. I had a big cup or raspberry leaf tea before bed, fell asleep with a hot water bottle on my lower back. Went to the bathroom only twice during the night. I have to say it also helps that my OH sleeps in the guest bedroom as I need lots of space to turn around during the night. There was a point a few days back when I asked him to move during the night and he ended up on the floor! Poor thing :-(

Babyhope98 · 19/10/2020 08:33

My period pains are hanging around at the moment actually quite painful, suppose it’s my body showing me it won’t be long 🥴 had a bit of a rough night with these achy legs and now period pains lol x

Babyhope98 · 19/10/2020 09:17

Anyone else going to pay to do the strep b test? I just ordered mine I think I’ll do it after I turn 36 weeks..

Sheera1 · 19/10/2020 11:05

Morning all. Ok sleep here. Took ages to get to sleep and up twice for the loo but slept from 2 till 8 which is amazing. Pains stopped through the night. I have a huge maternity pillow and I flip it upside down so the head bit is between my legs. I couldn't get comfy using it as a pillow.

I feel really lightheaded and woozy today though and actually thought I might faint in the shower so having a wee lie down for now.

I have strep B as I had a swab a few weeks ago when passed some blood. Had it with DS too and he had to be on antibiotics drip for 3 days. I don't understand why they don't just do a routine swab nearer the day. I guess money but that is shit to pay for it.i didn't even know you could.

As I am a planned section I won't need antibiotics as long as waters don't break or go into labour before it.

Just had my 34 week midwife appointment, she said baby feels small but not small enough to worry. My son weighed 7lb 2 when he arrived at 42 weeks. We went over some of the birth plan, I asked if we are being confined to a room at the hospital during labour (I paced around the hospital grounds for hours last time) & she confirmed that would be the case, so to stay at home as long as I can manage.
She said masks must be worn by my partner & myself (if manageable) until we are put into a room, we will be covid tested, partner can stay for the whole labour but cannot return for visits until he's had a negative result. Booked in to see her again at 36 weeks, its coming around so fast!!

MsBee13 · 19/10/2020 12:01

@Sheera1 I'm glad you had a better sleep today. Hopefully it will be better now. Try to take it easy today and drink plenty of fluids x

MsBee13 · 19/10/2020 12:10

Just had my 34 week appointment too. All the tests are fine, baby is growing well just being a bit naughty as he hasn't turned head down and is in breech position, across my belly. MW said if baby doesn't turn by my next appointment (36w) they will have to discuss the options of turning the baby manually or c-section booking. Also I forgot to ask about my BH pains 🤦🏻‍♀️ x

Kj1010 · 19/10/2020 14:00

@MsBee13 my little man is breech at moment to my midwife face me a website to go on called spinning babies breech where u can do exercises urself to turn baby said it's highly recommended maybe have a look and see I have another growth scan in november so will wait and see if he has turned if not will be going on that website as I really dont want a csection at all had one b4 much rather a natural birth

MsBee13 · 19/10/2020 14:03

@Kj1010 thank you, will check that x

Kj1010 · 19/10/2020 14:12

Np at all xx

Hey girls, a little frustrated here. Every time I've had a urine dipstick test, it's been positive for white blood cells which 'suggest' infection. Problem is, every time they have sent it to the lab, nothing grows which shows I have no UTI infection, so there is either something else going on like a vaginal infection or that my body just produces white blood cells in excess. It seems to fall on deaf ears.

I work in a microbiology lab so have a fair idea of how infection works and antibiotics. I rang the MW up and explained how my notes said the urine culture is negative. I took antibiotics for no reason, I've been sick on it and had diarrhoea. I asked isn't it worth investigating further to see I don't have some other type of infection as this is probably the 4th or 5th time I've been given antibiotics with no UTI. Taking antibiotics when not needed pretty sure isn't good for the system, with all resistances happening I'm exposing all the good bacteria to it for no reason as well. Sorry if it sounds really technical.

Anyway, she turns around and says that 'it doesn't mean you don't have an infection, you need to finish your course'. I'm frustrated!! She doesn't know what she's talking about in this case!! But I didn't want to come across as rude. I think my next step is contacting my GP. Do you think it's worth it? I've been feeling poorly but no one can find the reason why as their routine tests show everything is normal. I could easily have a vaginal infection as the urethra and vagina are pretty close but no one seems bothered.

Babyhope98 · 19/10/2020 16:10

I would contact GP and start taking some probiotics if you aren’t already x @Asianchick6693

Asianchick6693 · 19/10/2020 16:19

@Babyhope98 thank you. I have been since day 1 but these antibiotics have taken so much out of me! I rang a few days back because of the side effects anyway asking if I could reduce my dose and they advised me to stop taking them completely at that point! Then I had to ask what about my infection? They then said try to stick to it but if not stop. Advice so contradicting but oh well.

Also measuring my blood sugars 4x daily as I have shown glucose in my urine twice and showing signs of GD but thankfully my levels have been very normal. Also my midwife at the antenatal appointment said I had glucose in my urine but didn't note it down! The midwife at the day unit was like if you have glucose twice it's important that you're monitored for it. Which at that point was my second time.

Just feel tired and paranoid of things being missed and not cared for. Sorry for ranting again.

Babyhope98 · 19/10/2020 16:29

Perhaps speaking with the GP will make you feel less anxious to have a second opinion on what’s going on @Asianchick6693

Jellycat2020 · 19/10/2020 16:47

@Asianchick6693 have you had a vaginal swab taken? Might be worth asking, to see if they can differentiate between a UTI or vaginal infection. I've had multiple UTIs (most cultured) and thrush twice during this pregnancy and am now unfortunately on permanent antibiotics which I hate the idea of as I'm a Vet so know all about resistance problems! One of the midwives said that on a dipstick, thrush can look like a UTI, so maybe it's that. You don't have to be symptomatic either.

Asianchick6693 · 19/10/2020 16:58

@Jellycat2020 working in Microbiology and dealing with infections and antibiotics just makes me paranoid lol! Probably makes me a little bit too cautious/anxious as I don't want anything missed.

Yes it may well be thrush as I have a tendency to get recurrent thrush symptoms but again I don't think it has ever grown in culture. I also deal with vaginal swabs at work and everyone's view on what a true infection is sometimes subjective. Sometimes some scientists dismiss staph aureus, group b strep if it is mixed with other normal vaginal flora, or if the clinician requesting the test hasn't mention the patient is pregnant which happens a lot btw!! whereas some scientists will perform further antibiotic tests on it. That's why I have a feeling deep down things can get missed. Either that or there's probably something else going on but yeah I will ask for a swab to be done again. Last I had one was 17 weeks. I wish everyone was aware of the proper procedures but information always gets lost along the way. Thanks for the advice.

Jellycat2020 · 19/10/2020 17:44

@Asianchick6693 not a problem, sounds like you know your stuff! Which I've found, some GPs/midwives don't like..... Best of luck with it.

Sheera1 · 19/10/2020 19:56

@asianchick6693 go with what your instinct is. I think you will no much more than the midwife.

I called in today as was very dizzy and vision a bit blurry and thought I was going to faint. Cramps have stopped though.

All seems to be fine. They monitored me and did a good check up and all seems to be fine. Can't really explain the dizziness. But blood pressure fine etc.

The doctor who did my check up was crazy hot!! It was very distracting. Lol. Found myself going all girly and gooey and when he was checking my ankles for swelling zi was really glad I had shaved my legs 😂🙈.

Honestly, he was beautiful. Young and tanned and amazing green eyes and short browny-blonde hair and gorgeous arms. Lol.

MsBee13 · 20/10/2020 09:37

Morning ladies. I had another very good night sleep with no cramps in my belly. I had my raspberry leaf tea just before bed. I think it works with cramps! Might worth a try xx

peachypetite · 20/10/2020 09:49

I’ve had another night of sleeping like crap! I thought raspberry tea leaf was meant to encourage labour?

NaomiB79 · 20/10/2020 10:30

@peachypetite @MsBee13 I thought the raspberry leaf tea was supposed to encourage labour too. I had a box arrived yesterday for exactly that reason, I'm ready for this baby to come now so will be trying all the old wives tails to encourage labour as soon a Friday comes (which is exactly 37 weeks for me) 😂😂
