@Jwl45 - the government guidelines for schools say that they expect clinically vulnerable people to be able to work and the union has also been very wooly on this: some schools are being more cautious and keeping staff off but I think many more are not because they don't have to (it's easier to distance from the kids in secondary too)
In my case my mental health took a bit of a dip when I was wfh so I've been happy enough to be in school (although I'm also happy enough to finish next week to be fair). I'm also in the South West, which is less badly affected right now: I might have a different perspective if I was somewhere like Liverpool :-)

Jwl45 · 17/10/2020 10:59

@EithneBlue I work in a very small school in West Wales(3 classes.... No staff room... Etc) so there was absolutely nowhere I could go to distance myself. And I teach the whole of foundation phase. You're right, some maybe are more cautious than others.
HR told me all corporate women (never been called that before!😂) are expected to work ... Yet our H&S officer said no! Clearly not singing from the same hymn sheet!
It will be nice for you to have a break before baby comes. 😊

Jwl45 · 17/10/2020 11:00

Oh I do hope it goes fast for you @Kj1010.

Snowwhite2020 · 17/10/2020 18:33

All very interesting isn’t it ladies. Hope you all
Keep well xx

peachypetite · 18/10/2020 03:21

Urghhhh. Awake since 2am.

Pea1984 · 18/10/2020 04:24

I’m awake too and really want to go and get jobs done in the nursery / dumping ground. Going to start putting my hospital bag together today too.

I’m still teaching full time in a YR/1 class until the end of November when I’m 38 weeks. Working from home would have driven me mad so I’m pleased I’ve been able to stay on.

december2020 · 18/10/2020 08:20

How is it Sunday already!?

Do you think it's ok that I don't have a 31 week appointment (FTM)?

My gp is under refurbishment so they couldn't offer the appointment but booked me in for 33+4 so I'd definitely have one as soon as they open again (for my 34 week one I guess). They advised me to call the community midwives and ask what they recommend with the 31 and 34 week appointments, which I have done (and left a voicemail), but no ones called me back. I'm 32 weeks on Tuesday.

I'll try call again on Monday and hopefully I can get in touch with someone.

Dee96 · 18/10/2020 11:31

It's nice to catch up with everyones posts and see everyones doing well. I'm so on/off on this since my pregnancy and all of its dramas (from all the inconsistent care I've been receiving) have been keeping me preoccupied. I was wondering if anyone knows what current hospital situation is now that the lockdown restrictions are in place. Are we still allowed only one birthing partner once we hit active labour and if so are they at least allowing visiting times... It would be nice to not have to chose between my mum or my partner Confused

peachypetite · 18/10/2020 11:37

@Dee96 the rules vary massively so you need to check with your midwife for your hospital.

Amyyy1 · 18/10/2020 11:38

@Dee96 i think majority of places are currently 1 birthing partner during active labour and then they can visit a couple hours a day☹️ There was a good link on this thread somewhere that showed all the hospitals with each restrictions they had in place but I can't seem to find it!!

Pinktruffle · 18/10/2020 11:39

@Dee96 It does vary from hospital to hospital, but I think all of them are only allowing one birthing partner who has to leave a few hours after the birth.

Individual hospitals have their own rules regarding visitors, check websites or Facebook pages. My hospital is allowing no visitors at all.

peachypetite · 18/10/2020 11:50

My hospital has made some good changes. Partners allowed to all scans and if you give birth on the midwife led unit your partner can stay until discharge. I’m having a 34 week scan this coming week to check on my placenta and I’m so happy my husband can come in after waiting in the car park at 12 and 20 weeks.

NaomiB79 · 18/10/2020 13:17

The restrictions in hospitals are definitely different depending where you are. At mine partners are allowed in for scans and also any other appointments (mines was allowed in when I had to get checked for reduced movement last week). He wasn't allowed in the waiting room but I was able to call him once I was in an assessment room and they let him through.

He is also allowed in for active labour (once you are 4cm dilated) and to stay a couple of hours after the birth and then for 1-2hr visiting each day that we are kept in. If I'm induced I think he is only allowed to visit for a short time each day until I am in active labour.

That's how it currently is, it does worry me with the cases rising that things might change tho, hopefully that won't be the case.

Babyhope98 · 18/10/2020 17:27

I’m struggling with one achy leg it’s not swollen or hot it’s like spreading from my bum and side down the back of my leg and a bit of the shin. Anyone else got achy legs?

Jwl45 · 18/10/2020 18:21

@babyhope98 I have an achy leg during the night. I sleep on my left, and it's the left leg that is giving me grief! Sounds a similar discomfort to what you have. Wakes me up... I have to turn on my right side to relieve it then. This happens a few times a night... It is fine in the day though.

Babyhope98 · 18/10/2020 18:46

It’s actually on my right but started after turning to that side for a bit 😩 it’s been aching since yesterday hoping it goes soon @Jwl45 it’s that same kind of pain when I have to flip sides but just lasting longer not long to go and can put these achy legs behind me 😅

MsBee13 · 18/10/2020 20:11

Good evening ladies. I hope you are having a lovely Sunday. Anybody experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions already? I had them every 2 hours during the night, woke me up each time and had to breath through them. During the day nothing but nights are getting pretty intense. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow and will mention it to her. I'm wondering if it means something. Was panicking and getting my hospital bags ready today x

I have the same pains. I hope it gets better soon x

Sheera1 · 18/10/2020 20:27

Hi all. Been lurking but not posted. I am due 21st Nov but have a c section booked for 16th.

I have a 10 yr gap and DS was induced 2 weeks late so never went into labour.

I have had low down cramps and tightening and a general really heavy feeling low down all day. Sometimes I think it is just the baby moving to the point it is a bit painful.

Don't think contractions, but a constant cramp like feeling. Also some lower back pain on and off.

Anyone else getting this? I think if still have them tomorrow I will call and mention it. It is prob just late pregnancy uncomfortable ness but I didn't have anything like this with DS (Though I am older now).

@msbee13 I am not sure if mine are Braxton hicks. I have had tightening feelings for over a week but not sure if it is uterine or just baby having a big stretch. Hard to tell really.

I didn't think they were painful though? X

MsBee13 · 18/10/2020 20:55

@Sheera1 I have the same, lower back pains too. My due date is 26th November.

Sheera1 · 18/10/2020 21:03

@msbee13 are you thinking just late pregnancy aches etc or you thinking something more? X

I am not sure. I have just packed my hospital bag in case!

MsBee13 · 18/10/2020 21:55

@Sheera1 It started just a few days back, I will ask my midwife tomorrow.

I packed my bag today too but still need a few bits and bobs to add.

Sheera1 · 18/10/2020 22:10

Me too on my back and the pressure but def has been constant most of today.

Still got toiletries and baby clothes to put in as they are drying but bag nearly ready. X

Jwl45 · 18/10/2020 22:42

@MsBee13 I hope it does ease for you. It's so annoying ... Tonight I'm going to not put a pillow under my bump on left side... See if that helps the leg. When I turn to right, I don't have a pillow there and no leg pain (albeit I'm not there long!) Fingers crossed.
@Sheera1worth mentioning to midwife perhaps... At points, I do get pains very low down... toe curling at times and I have to stop in my tracks. Midwife told me Friday that it's baby pushing her head down.... Ready for the big day...
