@Kj1010 I'm in the same boat. It's been so busy right now that I've barely had time to think about the pregnancy and feel a little behind (but not stressed yet). I think we may finally order the pram or next to me bed this weekend and I'll feel like we've got at least one thing done.

Kj1010 · 16/10/2020 08:47

@december2020 can say the busyness has made it go faster so cant moan about that lol I got my pram etc ages ago off online for baby and just pay off for it each month nearly paid already so that part is all covered got all the clothes I'm gonna have for now and nappies and milk just silly bits but not to worried about that at mo have time to get lol

kkr168 · 16/10/2020 09:28

I packed most of my hospital bag last week, will just need to throw in an outfit for myself at some point. Do we need to take towels? I'm sure the hospital provided them last time, but it was so long ago I can't remember 100%

december2020 · 16/10/2020 09:38

@Kj1010 being busy has definitely made the last few months go at lightening speed! Ha, you're definitely more prepared than me. Our upstairs renovation should finish in the next couple of days so then I think we'll finally get a bit more inspiration to finalise all the bits and pieces as we'll finally have space to put everything. Did get a nursery rug though 😂

NaomiB79 · 16/10/2020 14:57

Hope everyone is doing okay, it's exciting being in the final stages now and seeing all the chat on finishing up for mat leave and packing hospital bags.

I just had my 36 week growth scan and my baby is still measuring big! They said she is already 8.5lbs and I still have 4 weeks until my due date!

I need to go to the hospital on Monday for monitoring for preeclampsia so they are going to discuss it with me then and might make a plan to induce me early. I feel really anxious about trying to deliver a big baby and struggling.

Snowwhite2020 · 16/10/2020 15:31

@NaomiB79 we had a growth scan on Tuesday and were told our baby was measuring 6lb 12 and that was at 33 weeks, so I hear ya! The head circumference is the thing they are monitoring in terms of the birth as the measure it in ultrasound and it is not literally floating well above the 100th centile on the (National average college of midwives) head circumference chart. It’s pretty scary. Have they said anything to you about HC at your most recent scan? They keep telling me heavy is good (gravity) but HC can lead to much higher rate of c section/ intervention than any other aspect of baby size/ weight etc which I suppose makes sense. I’m a FTM (you are too?) and even more so in that case :/ early induction seems sensible though and is definitely on the table for me too. Love to you- it’s a lot to take in isn’t it? Xx

Snowwhite2020 · 16/10/2020 15:33

*now floating

Snowwhite2020 · 16/10/2020 15:34

I’m also curious how many other ladies are working in “front line jobs” (nhs, teachers, shops etc) with the public and how you’re feeling about that now we’re getting into the final stages! I know different professions seem to have different rules/ guidelines on pregnancy and it can also vary between workplaces xx

NaomiB79 · 16/10/2020 16:01

@Snowwhite2020 yes they said her head circumference is over 100th centile as is her waist measurement. I asked what position she is in and the sonographer said she was head down but that sometimes if the head is big they won't engage properly.

I'm just worried I'm going to really struggle with the birth now.

Will see what is discussed on Monday but I'm hoping for and induction or section early now.

Take care and keep us posted on your scandal too x

If anyone on here has positive stories of giving birth to a large baby naturally I'd love to hear them x

NaomiB79 · 16/10/2020 16:03

@Snowwhite2020 that was supposed to say scans not scandal!

Snowwhite2020 · 16/10/2020 16:06

@NaomiB79 it sounds like we’re in a similar position then in terms of the birth. Chin up- we can do it!!! I have thankfully not been diagnosed with preeclampsia as yet but I know it’s something they’re watching closely as we are slightly more at risk with the big babies.

I would also like to know of any positive natural birth stories (especially if you’re able to comment on HC measurements!)

Love to everyone- seems a lot of us are dealing with one issue or another as we go into the last bit! Home stretch as the group title says... xx

Snowwhite2020 · 16/10/2020 16:09

Also @NaomiB79 do you know if you’re having a boy or a girl? 💖💙

Kj1010 · 16/10/2020 16:12

I'm a cleaner in a school and I feel ok apart from the earlyness and struggling where we at the end stages I'm dont really come into contact with kids teachers as we have to be off the school before teachers get in so I only see fellow cleaners but we all keep our distance from eachother

NaomiB79 · 16/10/2020 16:34

@Snowwhite2020 yes we can definitely do this, the amazing NHS will make sure our babies get here safely!

I'm having a baby girl, how about you fo you know what you're having? X

Pinktruffle · 16/10/2020 17:05

@Snowwhite2020 I work in a school, I've bwen pretty lucky and my school have taken the stance that they wom't take any risks so I've been working from home since the day I found out I was pregnant (which was the Saturday before lockdown commenced on the Monday).

We were obviously open throughout lockdown and I had more work to do pre-September but as my school had anticipated the worst, my maternity cover started in Septmeber and I've spent the last few weeks just having handover meetings and my cover has taken over the rest of my work.

Snowwhite2020 · 16/10/2020 17:05

@NaomiB79 that’s is wonderful you’re having a girl- congratulations! We don’t know but I had assumed we were having a boy because of the size! Is it your first baby? Xx

NaomiB79 · 16/10/2020 17:35

@Snowwhite2020 yes it's my first baby and probably will be my only baby as I'm 41! A surprise will be lovely but I know what you mean you always think of wee boys being big but not wee girls but clearly that's not always the case so you never know you could have a wee girl too x

Pinktruffle · 16/10/2020 18:04

I may be wrong but I don't think there is a gender size difference in newborns, I think that kicks in a little later. I can't wait to find out what I'm having, I've started looking at old wives tales online to see if I can guess haha

Jwl45 · 16/10/2020 20:26

I'm a teacher. Couldn't do the Hubs back in June /July. Also, as was over 28 weeks in September, I wasn't allowed to go back. (Originally, was planning to work up until half term....)
So have been working from home since September.... It's been ok. Not been given too much to do... So have been bored I must say and I miss my little class.
However, I guess it's given me the chance to chill in this pregnancy. I start maternity leave Nov 2nd.
Still waiting for date of C-section. Will be nice to know when we get to meet her

Kj1010 · 16/10/2020 21:20

@Jwl45 please dont I'm jealous u break up November 2nd lol

EithneBlue · 16/10/2020 23:17

@Snowwhite2020 - I'm a teacher and still in school teaching across all secondary year bubbles. I finish next week at half term (at 36 weeks) -- I would have gone later but the timing of half term and the fact that my timetable requires me to move around school to the students mean that I'm definitely looking forward to being done!

Snowwhite2020 · 17/10/2020 06:26

@Jwl45 and @EithneBlue that’s interesting- both such different experiences of working in Covid times. It does seem to vary so much. I’m glad you have both managed to stay safe xx

peachypetite · 17/10/2020 06:59

Been up since 5am Angry I think I’ll be having an afternoon nap today. On the plus side Monday marks the start of my last week at work Star

Jwl45 · 17/10/2020 09:40

@Kj1010 oops sorry...Smile When do you finish?
@EithneBlue I can't believe you're still teaching... Given current covid situation
@Snowwhite2020 you're right... It's mad how everywhere is different. No pregnant lady is allowed to be working directly with children in our county. It was a complete blanket no by the Health and Safety team. I did challenge it, as I feel fine and have been feeling great all pregnancy. I guess the reasoning behind it was that they didn't know enough about covid 19 and pregnancy. I follow some FB twinkl teaching groups.. and the difference in rules and regs is amazing!
I may have been bored at times, but Im lucky to have been home... It's helped with not having the swollen Feet and high blood pressure I'm sure.... And I am in my 40s! Lol

Kj1010 · 17/10/2020 10:03

@Jwl45 I finish 13th November
