Anyone else just found out/newly pregnant?

I tested v positive this morning, with est ovulation 07.09.2020 and est due date 31.05.2021. So basically only 4 weeks pregnant?

I'm feeling only tiny symptoms - a bit bloat, crampy, fluttery tummy and a bit gassy.

Finding myself so nervous about potential miscarriage. Checking for blood every time I wee! Just exercised and worried throughout about somehow harming it Blush

Anyone else in the same position?

Loving all the test pictures. Glad it is not just me that has a few (ok maybe more than a few) test photos on their phone.

I just wondered what pregnancy vitamins you are all taking?

ScottishLassie91 · 24/09/2020 13:04

@Tigger1987 definitely not just you, i have so many pics lol!

I'm taking folic acid and vitman D each day :) x

BabyDust13 · 24/09/2020 13:07

TheDaydreamBelievers · 24/09/2020 13:12

@Tigger1987 I bought some Pregnacare ones from Tesco x

TheDaydreamBelievers · 24/09/2020 13:32

I've definitely gone off eating a bit today. Dont fancy anything!

BabyDust13 · 24/09/2020 13:42

@TheDaydreamBelievers like me I need some lunch but no clue what I want/fancy

KateColx · 24/09/2020 13:45

@TheDaydreamBelievers I've been a bit like that! I cooked a spag Bol the other night and couldn't even eat it 🤢 I joined slimming world last night to try and get some sort of healthy eating into my routine after months of doing what I want 😂

Also, what are your guys thoughts on exercising in pregnancy? I've been doing PT and circuits at a local gym but they're pretty hardcore! I stopped then before I went on holiday and haven't gone back as I found out I was pregnant the day I got home but I'm not sure what excuse I'll give. Especially as I normally go with one of my best friends x

TheDaydreamBelievers · 24/09/2020 13:58

I've still been trailing running and doing some strength @KateColx. They say you can do what you usually do and should be active but be moderate.

My ideas are - good number of steps each day, nothing super intense, ab work that is okay in pregnancy (some ab exercises not recommended as encourage muscle separation), bodyweight strength. I boulder and will have to make sure I am very cautious about falls, especially once I have a bump

Sorry if too personal but I have literally not went anywhere near my hubby since we found out, I am so nervous to dtd incase something bad happens, I know I am probably being irrational, is anyone else feeling the same? Xx

Suite88 · 24/09/2020 17:47

@Tigger1987 I'm taking the seven seas pregnancy vitamins and vital dha for omega 3.

@KateColx I do quite a lot of pilates and my instructor said to keep doing the regular classes until around 14 weeks.

Buffbeag · 24/09/2020 18:05

Hey guys. I am currently almost 7 weeks, due beginning of May 2021. I have had 2 previous miscarriages both around this time so currently struggling with the anxiety surrounding that.
Work nightshift and so far I am finding it really difficult to get motivated for getting to work. I am having nausea when I get up and struggling to eat anything- have absolutely no appetite.
Spending the first 4 hours at work feeling horrendous 🙄
Any advice greatly appreciated!
Thanks

ScottishLassie91 · 24/09/2020 18:26

@barbiemummy20 nothing too personal on here lol 😂
I've dtd a few times with OH, when I've not been too tired or nauseous but I was told it was safe unless the doctor tells you you cant have sex. My GPs professional advice when TTC was to 'get at it like rabbits' so i dont think she recommends abstinence 😂 xx

@Buffbeag congrats!! Sorry you're having such a time of it. I was really bad a few days this week and, although its early I told my boss as I couldnt work (I travel for meetings). She was happy I told her in confidence as shes making allowances for me being unwell just now xx

Thanks @ScottishLassie91 💕 I am feeling in the mood so reassuring haha! We found out at nearly 12 weeks with first so never had these early days in our minds 😂

ScottishLassie91 · 24/09/2020 18:37

@barbiemummy20 Nothing worse though when you're in the mood and worrying about it! X 💜
Yeah finding out early definitely has its downsides haha xx

mrswilso · 24/09/2020 19:01

Hey ladies 😍
I've got a wee question for the Scottish lassies - I spoke to my local midwife team today (North Lanarkshire) to let them know I'm pregnant and the woman that called me back told me that I'll have a booking appointment over the phone around 7/8 weeks and my dating scan will likely be around 16 weeks...sixteen!? Four months??
Whut? I thought I'd have at least had a blood tests or scan to confirm the pregnancy? And I was sure it was 12 weeks for the dating scan no?
If this is correct I'll likely book in for a separate private scan around 7/8 weeks after I get my booking call from the midwife cos there is nooooway I'll be able to wait to until 16 weeks for a scan.
This is my first time so I'm clueless! But it just didn't sit right with me and she used the "with everything that's happening with COVID" line a couple of times on the call so thought I'd ask here and see what other people's experiences have been like (and make sure I'm not been fobbed off!)
Hope everyone's keeping well 💕

ScottishLassie91 · 24/09/2020 19:06

@mrswilso congrats! I'm in Greater Glasgow and Clyde Healthboard 😊
Wh2n I called, I got my first appointment which they said would be over the phone and then my first scan I'll be about 12 and a half weeks, already booked for November. I'd definitely be challenging that!! Xx

TheDaydreamBelievers · 24/09/2020 19:07

@mrswilso - that is rubbish!!! That must be a local area resource issue as NHS scotland definitely usually do 8 week midwife appt (weight, bloods, BP) and 12 week scan. Because of Covid19 they are doing the initial appt by telephone so no bloods or weight or BP. My scan is 12 weeks from last period (which I think is actually 10 weeks for me)

@barbiemummy20 - we've done it since, I was a bit nervous but was fine!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 24/09/2020 19:19

Sorry meant to say @mrswilso that I am NHSGGC

@Buffbeag - I hear the trick is to eat immediately when you wake, something bland. An oatcake or similar

OP posts:
mrswilso · 24/09/2020 19:22

Thanks girls - I had a feeling it wasn't right. Even NHS Scotland's site says the dating scan is between 8-14 weeks!
She told me that the midwife for my surgery was going off on mat leave herself in the next couple of weeks so it'll be the new one that will call for my booking phone appointment but she just didn't sound sure enough of it all for my liking.
If I don't hear anything within the next fortnight from them then I'll give them a call back and let them know I may be a first timer but I'm not an idiot 🤣

barbiemummy20 · 24/09/2020 19:25

@mrswilso I am Lanarkshire, I have my call with midwife on 13th Oct then bloods on 15th Oct then expecting to be booked for my scan at 12ish weeks! They asked what hospital I wanted and I have choose Wishaw as that's where I went last time. With my 1st wee one I went to local day patient mat ward at hairmyres for all scans, glucose tests etc and only went to Wishaw for monitoring/induction, I am hoping it's the same this time as hairmyres is 5 mins drive and Wishaw is about 30 depending on traffic 😊 wondering how it works with partners for scans I don't know anyone whose being pregnant during lockdown so not sure what the rules are locally! I had a private scan a few weeks back as I thought I was further on, it was at abc4d in Motherwell and I wouldn't recommend it, have heard window to womb is good so if I need to wait more than 12 weeks will probably book there! Congrats on your pregnancy and looking forward to reading about your journey xx

TheDaydreamBelievers · 24/09/2020 19:48

Ahh a wee scottish group @mrswilso @ScottishLassie91 @barbiemummy20!

One other person can come with you to the 12 week scan but not other scans by nhs

Are you QEUH for scans @scottishlassie91?

SugarPlumRoar · 24/09/2020 20:00

I think it varies by Trust for NHS Scotland. I called today to get my booking in appointment and my GP told me I had to call the maternity unit at the hospital.

Surprised at how many fellow Scots are on here there seems to be quite the crowd of us.

I hope you're all doing well, interesting and reassuring to hear everyone else's experiences

Called them they said a midwife will call me at some point and it might take a few weeks and it will be a 45 minute appointment via phone. I asked will I get a date or time and she said no I've to watch for an 0800 number.

No mention of scans or blood tests etc, I was a high risk pregnancy previously and will be again so not feeling overly reassured at the moment.

I'm NHS Ayrshire & Arran. Can't believe how much it varies just a few miles down up the motorway.

I'll definitely be booking a private scan for my own reassurance and to try get some dates.

ScottishLassie91 · 24/09/2020 20:05

@TheDaydreamBelievers oh fab!
RAH, though I might ask to transfer to QEUH after my 12 week scan.
Is that where you are? Xx
