Anyone else just found out/newly pregnant?

I tested v positive this morning, with est ovulation 07.09.2020 and est due date 31.05.2021. So basically only 4 weeks pregnant?

I'm feeling only tiny symptoms - a bit bloat, crampy, fluttery tummy and a bit gassy.

Finding myself so nervous about potential miscarriage. Checking for blood every time I wee! Just exercised and worried throughout about somehow harming it Blush

Anyone else in the same position?

@EwwDavid I've done the same haha, currently for 4 FRERs and one CB left to do 😂

What's everyone's thoughts on private early scans? X

BabyDust13 · 23/09/2020 14:25

@EwwDavid I'm really bloated as well even my leggings aren't stretching out enough to be comfortable 😂😂

ScottishLassie91 · 23/09/2020 14:31

Hi @SugarPlumRoar congrats! Another from Scotland :)

Not sure if it'll help any but I called my GP who gave me the number of the midwife to refer myself to. I called them and they took some details and then gave me my first midwife appointment (which will be over the phone) and my first scan appointment on the phone there and then.
Its fab having the dates already but also so long away! I've done the same, booked a private one for 8 weeks as I had really irregular cycles as well and will hopefully give us some reassurance x

EwwDavid · 23/09/2020 14:31

@KateColx I had a scan at 8 weeks with DC1. He was basically a blob with little stumps for arms and legs Grin but it was good to see everything was ok and it reassured me.

But then I know others who had private early scans that were fine but they still went on to have MCs Sad it’s reassuring but it’s no guarantee everything will be ok.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 23/09/2020 14:45

Hi @SugarPlumRoar and @mrswilso! Congratulations!

I'm also Scottish and NHS GGC just has a line you call.

I think I'm not going to have an early scan @KateColx. I think it FEELS like itll reassure me but actually wont (I always feel like more info will make me feel better, but it doesnt!). Each to their own though I think! It makes me feel better that 12 weeks seems ages but this is already week 5 haha(or 4 +4).

My scan is set for 03rd Nov. Going by my calculations of ovulation being on 07/09, that'll only be week 10 not 12 right? I know its cause my periods were all over the place so last period was 06/08 (I had only two post pill cycles of 141 days and 47 days!) and that date is 12 weeks from then.

@EwwDavid a blob with stumps 😂😂 yeah it's hard isn't it, I think I'd like the reassurance still. Knowing me I'll end up with one every two weeks 😂🥰

Tipptopgirl · 23/09/2020 15:36

Ok guys.... need some reassurance here.
Anyone do the cervix checking to find ovulation etc? Well I did and i was cramping a good bit earlier.. so i washed my hands well and checked my cervix to see was it off it rising up etc well, its soft, high and open? I also noticed some brown tinted CM and a few strands of dark brown CM mixed in.... panicking! Iv never had a miscarriage, does this sound like one???

EwwDavid · 23/09/2020 15:44

@Tipptopgirl as long as it stays brown and light, don’t worry. I remember last time when I was around 4-5 weeks pregnant I had slight brown discharge. It’s nothing to worry about. You only need to worry if it becomes bright red, fresh blood and is heavy.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 23/09/2020 15:48

So I dont do cervix feels @Tipptopgirl but I've read that if you are pregnant the cervix remains high like in ovulation but much much softer and may feel more open but not actually be.

Early pregnancy (and you poking about haha) can irritate the cervix which may cause bleeding. Also spotting is quite normal early on.

I wouldn't say it sounds like any description of miscarriage ive read, but no personal experience. Could always phone the EPU for their advice? I suspect they will say sounds fine.

Found out Saturday 19th I'm pregnant. Really happy and excited. Im 4weeks and 2days now. CONGRATULATIONS EVERY ONE 😊 My baby is due June 1st. 🥰 I wish you all healthy pregnancy journey. xx

HeyDW96 · 23/09/2020 16:55

@Tipptopgirl I check my cervix sporadically, mine is high and soft, remained high since ovulation which is why I had an inkling I may be pregnant, as for open - I don't do too much poking about so I don't know.

Hope all is well! I've never experienced bleeding and never been pregnant before, sorry that's not much help!

Suite88 · 23/09/2020 17:18

I rang the doctors today and I'm now booked in to see the community midwife on 23rd October.

It is an in-person appointment which I wasn't expecting as my area is currently in lockdown.

HeyDW96 · 23/09/2020 19:57

Oocha, my boobs weren't as sore yesterday but back with a vengeance today and I feel like I have loads of trapped wind!

Also doing really stupid things, walked face first into a hanger for flower basket and now have a bruise on my head and dropped my pepper grinder in a big pot of soup 🤦🏼‍♀️ think I'll have an early night tonight and have a fresh start tomorrow 🤣

ExcaliburCottage · 23/09/2020 20:31

@BabyDust13 oh I see! So when I told the gp yesterday I was 3 weeks I was actually a few weeks out. My first app isn't until the last week of October so I'll actually be almost through my first trimester! Oops 😂

BabyDust13 · 23/09/2020 20:32

@HeyDW96 talking of stupid things I took a tray out the oven earlier to put more food on it then picked it up with my bare hand to put it back in the oven

I don't think baby brain is meant to start this early

BabyDust13 · 23/09/2020 20:33

@ExcaliburCottage yeah I'd just give them a call back and let them know 🙂

TheDaydreamBelievers · 23/09/2020 20:37

It's interesting that a few people think they are mentally not quite there- I have had soooooo many word finding difficulties today!

OP posts:
SugarPlumRoar · 23/09/2020 21:04

I definitely feel like baby brain has kicked in actually everything feels like its happening much quicker this time.

I've spent most of the day feeling sick or being sick with a crazy headache. I took myself off to bed for a couple of hours sleep and felt worse when I woke up.

I'll get booked in wife a midwife tomorrow but will also call my doctor to see if they will consider prescribing me something for the sickness, I can't continue like this much longer otherwise I'll end up in hospital with dehydration like I did most of my last pregnancy. I'm just grateful that I'm working from home for the foreseeable future so I can manage it all a bit better

TheDaydreamBelievers · 23/09/2020 21:21

@SugarPlumRoar how pregnant are you? Did you have HG last time? Poor you!

I dont feel much so far. Symptoms kick in more at 8weeks ish?

OP posts:
SugarPlumRoar · 23/09/2020 21:28

@TheDaydreamBelievers I'm roughly 4 weeks but couldbe a bit further along, I had really severe HG last time but it didn't start until around 6 weeks so I'm surprised at how quickly it's set in for me.

I'll keeping my fingers crossed that you breeze past 8 weeks without any symptoms at all

Mishmased · 23/09/2020 21:30

@Tipptopgirl I'm in Cork, whereabouts are you?

Mishmased · 23/09/2020 21:35

Hello everyone and congrats to the new additions.x

TheDaydreamBelievers · 23/09/2020 23:06

Random interesting article for us First Timers. First babies are less likely to be on time than others, more likely to be either early OR late
