@DressingGown87 I'm really sorry but I accidentally created this thread after someone had already done one!

Here is the link to the other thread

Trying to work out how to sort this one out now!

Anyone new: Don't post on this thread go to the link above! xx

Thanks @MOGMOGMOG85! I'm going to tentatively follow this one a little early too so I can keep up with the updates from the graduates. Will give me some more ideas on what to expect soon!

tmc14 · 19/09/2020 08:00

Hi, I’m also tentatively following... feels a bit weird to do so but want to hear all your newborn stories x

footprintsintheslow · 19/09/2020 08:24

I'm joining now just so I know where you all are when my time comes and I'm too exhausted to remember my own name let alone find this thread.

Littlegoth · 19/09/2020 08:27

Thanks for the thread 😄

Rachael321 · 19/09/2020 08:55

Thanks for the thread @MOGMOGMOG85

SammiLou2312 · 19/09/2020 10:12

inn is out of SCBU and spent last night with me on the transitional care ward! Honestly it was just amazing having him with me for cuddles, we had skin to skin most of the night and he has been trying really hard to latch on! He’s demand feeding at the minute, and they were so pleased they took his feeding tube out this morning! He’s also had a few bottle top ups and a dummy - not a clue what I’m doing but I’m just making it up as I go and he seems chilled! @avocuddles we’re the same and he’s now under the light working on his tan - his is a little mat underneath him so I have still been getting him out to feed and have a cuddle and he was out for the hour his dad was here. An hour just isn’t enough is it? We’re hoping his levels keep going down, they’re checking at midnight and hopefully, hopefully they keep going down so we can get him home tomorrow or Monday morning! Just want to get him home now! But he’s been an absolute gem - he doesn’t cry, he just stares at me and sticks his tongue out to tell me he’s hungry 😂 oh and he peed on his own face hahah

Think I may have double posted on the pregnancy thread thinking it was this one! Hope no one minds!

Knotemma · 19/09/2020 20:06

@Anon20something fab news about Finn, so pleased that things are looking good!

@avocuddles that sounds like a really stressful few days, fingers crossed that her time under the lamp gets her sorted and you get home soon.

I've realized that I'm letting Samuel's preference for the left boob get in the way of establishing a good routine, so have plated around with holds to get him on the right better....I've also ordered some shields for my poor left nipple which has been doing the majority of the work!

SammiLou2312 · 19/09/2020 20:59

@Anon20something amazing news about Finn! Not going to lie, I had a little chuckle about him peeing on himself lol. I have been peed on and pooped on by Amelia haha!

@Knotemma we are having to use shields due to Amelia's tongue tie and me having flat nipples. However we managed a feed from my right boob with no shield earlier after she knocked it off in frustration. I was such a proud mummy haha 🥰 hope you have some luck with them x

How are you all coping with being mummies? Its really weird for me, at times it feels like it's all a dream that I'm going to wake up from and other times it's like I can't remember life before her. I spend so much time just sitting and starting at her in awe lol (keep getting told to nap when she does but I don't want to miss a second of her lol). I've taken so many photos of her already is unreal, I'm just so amazed that she is actually here x

Knotemma · 19/09/2020 22:20

@SammiLou2312 I totally know what you mean about it not seeming real. Admittedly I'm probably still a bit delirious from lack of sleep! He slept beautifully the first night and I just lay and stared at him! It's definitely surreal that he's here to stay. DH and I still spend a lot of time just staring at him I have to admit!

Anon20something · 19/09/2020 22:21

@SammiLou2312 I can’t believe he’s actually here either! With being in hospital I just really want to get him home, it’s been so hard imagining actually bringing one of my babies home! We’re so close now!

SammiLou2312 · 19/09/2020 22:27

@Anon20something hopefully it won't be much longer for you xx

TunnocksTCake · 20/09/2020 08:59

Place marking so I can find this thread when my time comes 😬

Knotemma · 20/09/2020 09:37

Well we had a fun night. My milk has come in so I'm engorged, Samuel threw up after every feed, and needed a full change of clothes and bedding twice, so I didn't get any sleep from half 11 until 7... Then had to go to the doctor's for my flu jab at half 8, which Id checked with the midwife and she said go. Nurse couldn't give me it as I'm not covered under her PDG, a doctor will have to give the ok. I'm not bothered about the jab, I'll pay for it at boots or something if necessary, but that extra hour and a half a sleep.... Gosh I wish I'd had that!

Anon20something · 20/09/2020 10:07

@Knotemma oh you must be exhausted! We’re still on the ward but I was up every 2 hours cluster feeding or nappy changing... I could sleep standing up at this point 😂

Knotemma · 20/09/2020 10:11

@Anon20something I've hit the point of nipple tenderness where I have to squeeze she's hand when Samuel latches ... Once he's actually feeding it's manageable... But that first 20-30 seconds ... Ouch! Worth to though to see him drinking away nicely. Fingers crossed he'll nap after this feed then I can too!

AnxiousLady1 · 20/09/2020 10:25

@Knotemma Did you decide against getting flu jab during pregnancy? My MW kept recommending it so I've booked it for Tues but haven't done a great deal of reading on it TBH.

Anon20something · 20/09/2020 10:29

@Knotemma Oh I know! Finn is almost frantic so it does hurt! I think with him having been tube fed the first 5 days it’s almost like we’re in that first day of feeding, so he’s all over, off and on, and constantly trying to wriggle around! Deffo hard work but it’s so nice having the 1-1 time with him - I get emotional every time 😂

SammiLou2312 · 20/09/2020 10:46

@Knotemma have you tried nipple cream? I have found its really helped when my nipples were super sore... The nipple shields have helped a little but Amelia gets really frantic on a night and ends up knocking shield off half the time lol, I've ended up with a few hickies on my boobs from her sucking when my shield had moved and I hadn't realised haha.
I completely get the whole changing clothes and bedding issues. Because she lost weight early on they had me feeding every 2 hours at least and expressing on top which has left me with too much milk supply now so I am constantly drenching us both and the bed whenever she tries to feed (especially on a night as she tends to go closer to 3 hours between feeds on a night once she starts to settle). I would recommend having a tonne of muslin clothes to hand to try and protect you both and your bedding lol as I found bibs didn't really cut it. Hopefully your supply will calm down, it apparently comes in too much to start but then tapers off in line with what baby demands eventually. Hope you get some more sleep xx
