Hi ladies, 30 weeks with my 2nd baby. Running around after a 2.5 year old little boy means this pregnancy is very different from my first! Currently in the bath soaking my back as suffering from SPD/PGP. Looking forward to life going back to a little bit of normality for us all when babies are here! Wonder if we will manage to get a hair appointment in before the big day?

CookieTea · 07/03/2021 20:24

I'm 31+2 and due on 7th of May too! So far I have been feeling more with the nervous anticipation of labour and baby arriving! Do not know the gender as husband wants to keep it a surprise. Been going through names...would be good to share ideas!

May2021Mummy · 08/03/2021 09:41

@CookieTea we're a bit stumped for names we found out we are have a boy 💙 but in typical fashion had only decided on a girls name which was Violet.

CLeighannHxo · 08/03/2021 11:17

Hey Ladies! I hope you are all well... I can't believe I haven't seen this thread up till now!
I am 28w2d due on the 29th of May, FTM. We are expecting a boy and we have gone for the name Isaac, there were plenty of name debates in my household as I liked names my DP didn't and my DP liked names that I didn't, but we have finally settled on the one name we both like haha

May2021Mummy · 08/03/2021 12:18

@CLeighannHxo congratulations I'm a FTM as well we are learning towards Dexter at the mo although I think it's a bit of a marmite name. My OH is being very hard to please there's loads of names I like but he has said no to most of them

May2021Mummy · 08/03/2021 12:19

@CLeighannHxo forgot to say I really like the name Isaac 💙

CookieTea · 08/03/2021 12:24

I have same issue with my husband lol.

We like absolutely different names! We like Hartley, Finley, Mathias, Delany and Noah. I wanted River, Avery, Atlas, Brodie, Bodhi.

Girls: Noelle, Caitlyn, Neala, Bea, Sienna, Cassie are the ones we like

I wanted Rubi, Allie, Mina, Adeline and Hallie.

For

CLeighannHxo · 08/03/2021 12:41

@May2021Mummy congratulations! Aww thank you, I wasn't keen on the name at first but it has really grown on me and I love it now. Dexter is really different! I just think you should go with what you both like as there will always be someone out there that doesn't like certain names, alot of the names I wanted to choose, there was always someone in the family/work colleague circle that put a dampener on it lol.
@CookieTea here's hoping you both agree on a name you both love! 🤞🏻

I found boys names where so much harder to choose from than girls names

Rascalia86 · 08/03/2021 12:51

Me and my OH were the same. We couldn't agree. I really liked Penelope but he wanted something more...different. so in the end we've decided on Oriana, with Penelope as her middle name. Not told the family yet because we want it to be a surprise. 😊
Congrats to everyone regardless of boy, girl or unknown! We're nearly there ladies!

May2021Mummy · 08/03/2021 16:05

@CLeighannHxo most people say it's a dogs name but it really doesn't bother me but I'm thinking maybe we should wait and meet him to decide

@Rascalia86 lovely name

@CookieTea I really like the name Atlas 😍

EyesOfYuna · 08/03/2021 18:17

We haven't settled on a name yet as we had lots of girls but no boys we could agree on.

I had a growth scan last week because my last baby was fairly big and they've said I have Polyhydramnios, his measurements are not quite right and he's in transverse lie so I'm having weekly scans now and will be consultant lead.
I'm trying to stay optimistic but I think this one will result in a csection after 3 lovely uncomplicated water births so a totally new experience for me!

CLeighannHxo · 09/03/2021 11:15

@Rascalia86 ooo that is a lovely name! I'm starting to get nervous now, 11w4d to go! 😬
@May2021Mummy well I've never known a dog called Dexter 😊 it's entirely yours and OHs decision what you call your LO.
@EyesOfYuna Aww I hope all goes well for you, its good that they are keeping a close eye on you and that means you get to see baby even more 😊

May2021Mummy · 09/03/2021 13:14

So I just had my midwife appointment and now I feel really down because she asked me if I plan to breast feed or bottle feed and when I said bottle she looked at me like she wanted to kill me 😢

Now I just feel like I'm failing already

CLeighannHxo · 09/03/2021 13:49

@May2021Mummy I really wouldnt get down about this, I have read alot of things with people feeling down as some midwives are quite pushy with breastfeeding, I plan to bottle feed aswell, I just think as long as baby is fed whether that being breast or bottle all is good. Fed is best 😊

CookieTea · 09/03/2021 14:39

@May2021Mummy ignore the midwife, if you want to breast feed or bottle feed then fine. My husband remarked earlier last week how he was surprised to see so many women being judged on whether they breast feed or not. He said in plain english- the baby is fed- what's the problem if it comes from breast or powder? I have to agree with him- it's sad to see it still a taboo subject in this 'modern' times

May2021Mummy · 09/03/2021 15:03

@CookieTea @CLeighannHxo thanks ladies I think I was just surprised at the reaction I thought it was just a personal preference i didn't realise the midwife would be so concerned.

My OH is happy for me to do which ever I am comfortable with and honestly as a FTM I think there's enough overwhelming stuff thrown in all at once and breast feeding would just add extra stress/pressure on me

I was quite surprised she asked me why I didn't want to breast feed and I said I personally don't want to whip my boob out in public all the time and that I think it would be nice for my partner to feel included she said we only really recommend the baby is fed by the same person for the first 6 weeks for good brain development so you shouldn't be switching anyway?????? I've never heard that before

beanys · 09/03/2021 18:00

@May2021Mummy I wouldn't take it to heart. This is just one of the many mum-guilt things you'll experience. I am going straight to bottle with my LO. Tried to BF my DS and my mental health took such a dive because of it. He needed a happy mum more than he needed to be fed by breast and once I made that decision, everything just felt so much better. Go with whatever feels right for you. You will always know what is best for your baby!

May2021Mummy · 09/03/2021 18:27

@beanys thank you

Rascalia86 · 09/03/2021 20:53

@May2021Mummy that's the first time I've heard that about it been the same person for 6 weeks. I'm going to try to breast feed, but if it doesn't work out then I'm not gonna get upset about it. She'll be fed either way. You do what you feel is best for you and your baby.
I told my mum I was considering asking for a csection because I also have crohns disease of the large bowel, and got called a coward. I told her to shut up as my circumstances are different to when she had me. The pressures come from all angles. 😔

May2021Mummy · 09/03/2021 21:46

@Rascalia86 I completely understand why you would prefer to have a c section given your circumstances. Well done for sticking up for yourself and congratulations

Analysethat · 10/03/2021 07:49

Hi ladies

I’m due 4th May and I’m 32+1, I’ve got a midwife appointment today and I fully expect the chat about breastfeeding to start but like some of you I’m going straight to bottle. Can’t believe how close it’s getting now

May2021Mummy · 10/03/2021 08:19

@Analysethat good luck at your appointment today hope all goes well 🙂

eternalflame2020 · 10/03/2021 08:54

Hey, I'm 32+4 and due on 1st May! The midwife hasn't asked me about breastfeeding at any appts yet but I like to keep things vague if asked by friends/family and just say I'll be trying it and will see how I get on. I'm not putting any pressure on myself.

Some lovely names for our May babies!

When is everyone thinking of putting up the cot/next to me?

Now I need to figure out how to fill my time as I am self employed and although my work has stopped being WFH I have decided not to return as it is not possible to social distance.

beanys · 10/03/2021 09:42

@eternalflame2020 things I wished I had done with my time before my baby came including things like having a go at making a bottle, using the steriliser, etc. I remember we got home from the hospital and that night I was like 'oh gosh, I wish I had practised before!!' 🤦🏼‍♀️

eternalflame2020 · 10/03/2021 10:54

@beanys that is a really good idea! I read the instructions ages ago but cannot remember anything now so would definitely be good to practice.

I saw someone on one of these threads say about planning a little treat for each day baby goes over the due date up to two weeks. I really like that idea so might sit and make a two week plan of treats/things to do.
