oh and i feel like i could easily have an argument with someone over nothing which really isn't like me 😳

Chance2020 · 11/10/2020 20:05

Sounds lovely @DiabeticFirstBaby
Fingers crossed it stays that way!!
I'm back in bed now ready to sleep!
I can only eat bland things at the moment, veg does not agree with me at all!! So having some smoothies for some nutrients which is doing the trick! 🤞
It's a quiet thread, looking forward to hearing after everyone's scans have gone well.

DiabeticFirstBaby · 11/10/2020 20:12

Thank you @Chance2020, yes i feel super lucky! hopefully you will start to feel a bit better soon, feeling sick must be awful. My dating scan is on the 22nd, can't wait to have it just to check everything looks ok. I didn't realise how anxious i would feel about it!

choccychar · 11/10/2020 20:31

I'm 10+4 and finally starting to feel better, can eat slightly more beige colour foods and don't spend the whole day throwing up, just the morning now!
I agree with the PP and backache is one of the things I'm struggling with most.
Actually just done another test a min ago as I was scared feeling so awful to slightly better might mean I wasn't pregnant anymore - such a worrier. Can't wait for the scan. Don't feel like it is real until then :-)

leftitlate37 · 11/10/2020 20:56

same as you @choccychar - defo dont feel like this is real, cant wait for the scan altho at same time dreading it as worried stuff wont be right. but nothing we can do eh so trying not too stress!
Sorry for some of u being sick :( am similar to you @DiabeticFirstBaby not been sick altho had 10 days or so of being v burpy and bit nauseous. defo bloated tho, ugh stomach feels so hard its horrible. And boobs are so tender, feel like might need to go up a size in the band size too - feels so tight. just love just wearing my pajamas - much comfier :)

Amelia891 · 11/10/2020 21:06

Hi all! Glad everyone is doing ok. I’m 10 weeks today and my sickness stopped about a week ago, although trying not to worry about that as I have lots of other symptoms still. I’m very tired, bloated and hormonal, crying over nothing and snapping at DH (trying hard to be nice!!) and I’m really spotty.

Got my scan letter on Friday and it’s not until I’m 13+4 which has really annoyed me. The cut off for the tests they do at the scan is 13+6 so if I’m even 2 days further ahead than I think I don’t get the tests. Called the hospital and they’ve said they can’t do anything and my midwife hasn’t been much help. What do you guys think? Keep trying or just leave it and try not to worry?

Also has anyone had their flu jab yet?

abitfunny · 11/10/2020 21:32

Hi all! Checking in too. Definitely been quiet on here but I guess we’re all waiting for our scans?! I’m 10 + 5 and feeling better, though still have waves of sickness & my diet has completely changed. I seem to be craving lots of dairy & sugary snacks that I wouldn’t normally eat. Cereal by the bucket load & cream cheese with anything! My sleep is really bad too and has been for a while so means I’m waking up even grumpier. Boobs are HUGE already?! Nipples the same. It’s definitely true when people say it all shows much quicker the second time round. Hope everyone’s doing ok?

abitfunny · 11/10/2020 21:35

@Amelia891 that’s rubbish about your scan. Tbh my experience this time (prob mainly due to covid) has been very relaxed. I only just found out about my scan (it’s in two weeks) and wasn’t even given a date for the booking app she just said ‘someone will call you soon’ unfortunately I think we’ve just got to go with it.

I had my flu jab on Thursday. Mainly because I had it when I was pregnant the first time and LOVED it. Didn’t get ill once!

leftitlate37 · 12/10/2020 07:48

Hi@Amelia891 - yep i had my flu jab same day as my booking appt, just wanted to double triple (!) with midwife that it really was fine to do in first trimester. glad ive had it. the usual feeling of having been punched in the arm for a couple of days after it tho!
sorry about your scan, i'd want it changed too so understand you are a bit annoyed.are your periods pretty regular etc? cos (not that i have any idea at all!) do people usually find they are a bit behind with dates rather than ahead? i'd maybe give the hosp one last try, but otherwise try and not worry - easier said than done.

Rascalia86 · 12/10/2020 08:05

Morning all!
10 weeks today! Yay! Had my booking appointment yesterday, all seems well so far. Got the date for my dating scan, two weeks today, so bang on the 12 week mark.

@DiabeticFirstBaby I totally get what you mean about the arguing. The smallest thing is making me want to start yelling, but I'm managing to keep a lid on it at the minute and take myself off for a breather. 😁

Gixxer · 12/10/2020 08:10

9 + 1 here. I am sick every morning whilst on the loo. Nausea and vomiting throughout the day. Definitely gets worse on empty stomach. I can only eat carbohydrates at the moment. Not sure if I get super tired easy or shortness of breath. I really hope it will end soon. Can’t go in shops etc as sight of food makes me vomit!

Whilstwewait · 12/10/2020 12:53

10 weeks here. Saw baby for the first time yesterday it gave us a little wave. So cute. The last week or so I've felt terrible in the evenings so tired and sick. Thought it was meant to start getting better not worse. Still counting myself lucky I've not actually been sick x

DiabeticFirstBaby · 12/10/2020 13:30

10 weeks today! feel like it's taking forever to get to the dating scan, i've heard it flies by after this though!
Glad i'm not the only one @Rascalia86 who is feeling very moody, the smallest thing is annoying me! hope that passes soon.
Had my flu jab last week!

EthelTheGoose · 12/10/2020 13:53

Hi all,

I'm 11+4 with my first and the scan booked on Friday.
I've been diagnosed with hyperemesis, so the sickness has been awful for the last 6 weeks, and I am constantly knackered.

My DP is having to pick up a lot of stuff around the house as I just can't do anything and feel totally useless!! Doesn't help that we also have a 4 month old puppy, which is becoming a total nightmare for me to cope with!!

Chance2020 · 12/10/2020 19:18

@Amelia891
Call them again and see if you can speak to someone else and explain you need an earlier appointment. You might get someone more helpful next time.
Definitely feeling better which is worrying me 🤦🏻‍♀️ got to switch my mind set.
But I am almost 11 weeks so hoping that's got something to do with it.
Got my dating scan for 13weeks as had to move my appointment due to work appointments.

Amelia891 · 12/10/2020 20:58

Thanks @Chance2020 @leftitlate37 @abitfunny, I called again today and they still said ‘that’s the soonest we can get you in, we are very busy’ so no luck :( my midwife said she is going to have a go but I’m really not getting my hopes up. Not a great first impression of the hospital! I guess if the worst comes to the worst and I am too far ahead for the tests I will have to find £500 from somewhere and have the harmony test privately. Just hope the next 3 weeks goes quickly. I guess at least the wait between 13.5 weeks and 20 week scan will be shorter! I’ve already got my 20 week scan date- Christmas Eve!

Sorry to all those feeling sick! Hope you start to feel better soon x

leftitlate37 · 12/10/2020 21:23

oh wow @Amelia891! be a great xmas present :) sorry youve had no more joy so far with the scan. really hope everything will be fine with dates so you wont need to worry. Could you book an earlier private scan to get an idea of dates? then if you find you are further ahead you can tell NHS and put your foot down with needing to change dates? altho a definite outlay, least be cheaper than the small chance you might need 500 to pay for harmony test??

Amelia891 · 13/10/2020 08:59

I have actually already had a private scan at 8 weeks @leftitlate37 (it’s twins!) and my dates were bang on what I thought so fingers crossed it will all be fine and I’m stressing for no reason. I just didn’t know if dates could still jump around a bit this early on?

leftitlate37 · 13/10/2020 09:30

Oh wow amazing!!! Congrats! That is so exciting @Amelia891 :) double the fun!! How do u feel about it all? Sorry remind me, are these your first? (Memory like a sieve) x

Amelia891 · 13/10/2020 10:46

Thank you @leftitlate37! ☺️ They will be baby number 2 and 3, my DD is 2.5. Is this your first? Feeling very excited and lucky but also have moments of feeling a little overwhelmed, but I imagine that’s fairly normal! 😂 feeling a bit anxious as my DD was also a twin but we lost one at 6 weeks, but at my 8 week scan with these babies they both had heartbeats and were looking good so fingers crossed! I officially can’t do my jeans up anymore. Anyone else in maternity clothes yet? 😅

Rascalia86 · 13/10/2020 12:13

@Amelia891 I certainly feel like I should be in maternity clothes. 🤣

Bit worried today though, bit of brown discharge. Trying not to worry too much and just monitoring at the moment. No odd pains or anything so fingers crossed its just something small. I saw something that said it can be normal up to 12 weeks so just hoping. 🤔

wannabemum1989 · 13/10/2020 13:14

Hi @rascalia86 I had the same nearly a week ago, nothing since. I also had two other one-off brown spotting instances at around 5 and 6 weeks and the sonographer found a small bleed in my early scan, but all good otherwise. The NHS page says spotting is a common symptom so holding on to that, like you! X

mummabubs · 13/10/2020 22:30

@Amelia891 I've been back in my maternity jeans since week 7 😂

Rascalia86 · 15/10/2020 07:19

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get good maternity clothes? I've been looking online but not sure. 😊

Amelia891 · 15/10/2020 08:04

I have a pair of Topshop mat jeans and a pair of New Look jeans from last pregnancy that I’d recommend. One pair are over the bump and one are under. I didn’t get that much mat stuff last time, just jeans, leggings and some bigger comfy bra’s. I got a couple of tops near the end but I found a lot of normal tops worked as long as they were long and stretchy enough. Towards the end when the weather got better and I was massive I lived in these stretchy boohoo dresses. www.boohoo.com/cap-sleeve-jersey-bodycon-midi-dress/DZZ98960.html?color=165

They were easy to to dress up with boots and a necklace or casual with trainers and a denim jacket.

Does anyone have any mat leggings suggestions? Think I had asos last time but they lost their shape quickly.
