Hey ladies had MW appointment yesterday, all fine Beanie?s head is 3/5ths engaged and he/she is in a good position so I am thrilled

Rainbowdays I didn?t think that BF councillor knew her stuff! I tried on a couple of really comfy nursing bras at Bravissimo, and I noticed that they do sell some of the same ones that the NCT do. I particularly liked the one with specs of silver in, they apparently help keep the bra dry I?ve had a few Royce bras this pregnancy and they are soo comfy. Sorry to hear you are feeling rough hope you get something to make you feel much better soon.

Hey Honey, thanks for the info on the pill, I?m not allowed to take hormone based contraception again but I was just wondering after the BF councillor said that at the weekend. How was DD?s nativity? and how is Dex?

Iampg ? can understand it must have been worrying hearing that about Oscar?s size. My fundal height is about 31 (I?m 34+2) so no doubt if I wasn?t having growth scans I?d be hearing that too, its all so imprecise isn?t it? Hope DP is feeling better and that you haven?t caught his bug.

Bodkin & Greedy LOL guess you are right about the 6am starts!

Fettle ? thanks hon a week of long lies would be bliss right now! So sorry to hear you are still without hot water

greedygreedyguzzler · 06/12/2007 14:11

oh my god mrs!!!! cant believe you are getting so close now!!! do you feel prepared? have you got everything??? have you got the all important cute baby shoes that they will never wear???!!!???

sorry about your hot water fettle petal. its hard enough work bathing them anyway without having to traipse up and down the stairs. marcy is still pretty arsey today! she did a fab sleep again last night though, so i shouldn't moan really.

ok...........question time......who was getting the jumperoo??? and whats it like? i am thinking of getting marcy one for xmas cos it looks like a good safe place to put her so she doesn't get knocked flying by my other two bouncy kids! looks like fun too, pretty big though, will probably need another extension to house it!

and....whats all this baby-led weaning or self-weaning lark???!! are they supposed to go to tescos on their own, pick out their own choice of fruit or veg, come home cook it and then puree it and eat it? i am all for getting them to do things for themselves, but it seems a bit extreme!! someone explain it to me pleaee!! i know i could google it, but i thought one of you lovely ladies could tell me what its all about in a nice concise way!!!

ok.....gotta go!!

by the way......af is here in full force!!! i reckon its almost a year to the day that i had my last af!!!

MrsMcJnr · 06/12/2007 14:26

LOL Greedy - AF now there's a blast from the past! Chooster has the jumperoo for Theo - looked fab (I wanted a shot!). Think I have most things now just need/want a breast pump, a mobile for the nature's nest, a TENS machine, a thermometer, nursing bras and a baby monitor. I don't have any baby shoes

fettleandbabyfettle · 06/12/2007 15:05

hurrah - our water cylinder has just arrived. Stupid jobsworth said he couldn't wait while I cleared space in garage or that he couldn't take it off the pallett as there was room for the cylinder not his fkucnig pallet! It's blowing a gale here and pouring with rain so I didn't want it left outside which is what he did. So I have just lugged it off the pallet myself and dragged it in the garage and now I ache all over. FFS I have an 11 week old baby, he was a man!! so and upset Had a good cry then got energy to pull it in. Now just need to find someone to fit it sooner rather than later! Think I need a nice long hot deep bath - oh yes , I can't!!!!!
Thank goodness we are going to inlaws this weekend!

mrs - I have that bra with the silver from bravissimo, in fact I have 1 of each of their nursing bras!!! But that one is my favourite and most comfy! So excited for you - it is coming so soon!!!

Greedy - sorry marcy arsey, but well done her for more good sleeping. Toby back to once, which isn't bad!. an't help with jumperoo or weaning questions, but you made me as always!!!! Hope AF not too bad - weird to think this time a year ago, you and I were on mammoth cycles!!!! Think I was on about day 45 - must have conceived around now as I found out I pg on 17th Dec and then mc on 23rd dec - a lot can happen in a year!!!

take care all

hi ladies

we had a breakthrough today - our climate control has been fitted - we have heating!! the house feels like its slowly coming together now. we have lights, cornice is up and there is paint on the walls!! woo!
My friend txt me today to let me know she gave birth to a little boy last night so its good news all round - cant wait to meet him now

honey - sorry about the deflating boobs after giving birth, mine are at 34c now - cant afford to lose anymore!! hows dex today? did you enjoy the nativity?

bodkin - thanks for the reassurance on the hair, mine is very fine and i dont have a lot of it anyway - as for stray spikey hairs im used to them too from having the straighteners too hot and hair breaking away from being bleached yes im just one big straw head lol! so after being pg my hair will just look crappier than normal

greedy - i have visions now of being in labour and screaming in pain and instead of squeezing and cursing dp il be shouting bloody greedy she told me this will be a piece of piss!!! im sure you dont look 101 you looked great after just giving birth so u cant be that bad!! ohhh a/f has arrived - aint seen her in town for a while! bet that feels weird for you?

fettle - i cant believe the actions of the guy who delivered your cylinder how bloody dare he do that to a woman - if i were you i would ring up and complain to his company! poor you, i hope you had a nice rest after that - boy do you deserve one big hot bath after all this stress!!

mrs - 3/5ths engaged thats fantastic news - not long to go now... i havnt caught dps bug as yet thank goodness! what sort of baby monitors are you thinking of going for - i have been looking at the ones with a tv screen too so you dont just hear the baby. i think we are going shopping at the weekend for our last few bits. must get that hospital bag packed soon too just incase! i bought my tens machine yesterday from lloyds pharmacy it was £50 dp wanted to test it out on him last night i am thinking i am weird now as i have bought oscar 7 pairs of shoes...little trainers and slippers and some other cute little bits that i couldnt resist!

have a good night all byeeee xx

Chooster · 06/12/2007 19:30

OK - can someone tell Theo that its not acceptable to get up 4 times in the night - talk about a massive step bakwards - actually I dont think he's ever been up 4 times... Grrrr. He was also a bit grumpy today, wondering if he's teething . But you are right though MrsMc - he is still super-cute . How is the amby??? Any problems just let me know. Wow 3 / 5ths engaged eh... Its really happening . As honey has already said the pill I've (still!!!) got in my bathroom is a POP, hope its going to be OK?

Hey it sounds like the house is coming along really well Iampg!! It wont be long before Oscar is in too to make it complete

Grrrr what a rotten thing that delivery man did fettle!!! . I can't believe he was that bloody minded. But well done DD for remembering her lines - hoorray!!! You will get that bath soon, and boy will it be worth it

Yeah.... A heartbeat city!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fab news - hope you are feeling a little more secure about your pregnancy

Hi greedy - yup I have the jumperoo and its fab!!!! Theo does some great boncing in it and I got it for exactly the reason you mention - it keeps him nice and safe. He's also getting fed up with lyibg down VERY quickly these days but can stay in his jumperoo for ages. A friend of mine came to stay this weekend with her 11month old DD and I after I'd changed the height settings even she had a great time in it. I'll post a picture of Theo in his soon . By the way they sell well second hand on ebay (about 40 or 50 pounds) but I got mine second hand from gumtree for £30 - it may be worth a look. Mmm, baby-led weaning is meant to be where you just let the baby eat food whole rather than puree... so give them a cooked broccoli tree instead of mashing it. Its meant to mean that they are more in control and it should fit in better with family meals. Not sure myself...

Actually Greedy, I meant to ask you about DD1 and her ballet. When you go does she just sit at the sidelines and not join in? If so do you still take her every week? My DS1 is also a little shy about joining in things but I really want to take him to some swimming lessons near me. Its with an instructor so I wouldn't be with him and I have a feeling he'll hang back and not want to go in... But I dont want to avoid it and not even give him the chance. How do you handle DD1???

Hey Bodkin - Although MrsMc was very complimentary about my hair, its also faling out in clumps!! DH was cleaning the shower the other day and after seeing the hair ball down the plughole he's now given that job to me .

Hi firsty - glad that Ty is doing well for you at night - perhaps he can have a word with Theo 4-times-a-night.

Phew!!! there will be loads I've forgotten to mention as it took me ages to catch up. Like I said I had a friend visiting and then last night I crashed out early at 9.30! Too many late nights catching up . But it was really good fun. Oh, and I had a lovely time last friday with my new mum-friends . They are all really nice .

Its been a very "baby" weekend as well here. one friend sadly had a miscarriage at 11 weeks, another has just found out today that she is having twins and another had her egg collection yesterday for IVF. She texted to say they got 36 eggs from her of which 22 are fertilised. Of course the downside is that they got so may because she was suffering from hyper-stimulation from the drugs so she can't move forward for a few months while that settles down. It really reminded me how complex having a baby is, I think you mentioned that earlier Fettle when speaking about your friend who lost her baby late.

Anyway, better head off and make dinner... See you!!

fettleandbabyfettle · 06/12/2007 22:34

Theo - it is not acceptable to wake up 4 times per night! Once only, or preferably not at all!! You sleep well for your Mummy now!!!

OP posts:
Bodkin · 07/12/2007 12:32

Chooster - I know exactly what you mean about going backwards wiht the sleep - it's soooo frustrating isn't it. I nearly went mad when she woke at 12 and 4 and 6 the other night. She's never woken that early before! I keep thinking, maybe I need to wean, but phoned my friend who has a DD the same age who is now on 3 meals a day, and she's not sleeping through, so it seems like it doesn't necessarily help, so will wait for the golden 6m still I think.

Greedy - BLW is what Chooster said. I think it sounds like much more fun than faffing around with puree. If you go to YouTube, and type in "baby led weaning" there's loads of videos of 6-7 month olds gumming away on their food. No one seems to be choking, so I reckon it must be ok. There's loads of advice about it in the "weaning" section here (under "Feed the World")

Fettle - Can't believe you're still struggling on without hot water - and what a twonk that delivery guy was Will you get it sorted in time for Chrimbo?

Mrs - wow - 3/5 engaged! So exciting!!!! Where's that bump pic! A bra with silver in it? Good lord, I'm clearly missing a trick here.... i've been wearing the same grotty old black sports bra from Peacocks since I was pg! (well, not the same one, I have a few, but YKWIM!) But then I've never really got on with the ones that unclip down, I'd rather just pull it up to feed so I guess it's horses for courses.

Iampg - 7 pairs of shoes... you do realise you're going to get given about another 30 more pairs as gifts He'll have more shoes than Posh Spice! What's happening about your prang?

Greedy - Glad Marcy is still sleeping well for you, but sorry to hear they're all a bit grumpy at the mo... Isla was a bit gripey this morning, so I put on the Best of Dolly Parton and danced round the living room with her... cheered us up a treat I can tell you .... PMSL at you saying that Marcy looks like a rugby player! I bet she's delicious - put some more pics up!

Isla has just discovered she can make more interesting sounds than just crying, so now she does a very cute awawawawawaw thing in a really lovely croaky little voice... bit annoying at 4 in the morning though! She's looking like she might not be far off crawling too she pulls her legs up underneath her bum and tries to push herself forward - but she hasn't quite worked out what to do with her arms yet. Rubbish at trying to sit up yet though.

greedygreedyguzzler · 08/12/2007 12:17

mrs - you WILL have baby shoes dont worry!!! its the sort of really cute, but useless thing that people buy for you when you have a baby!!!! how ungrateful do i sound hey?!!

work fettle!!!! work!!!!! DON'T get me started!!!! i came in last saturday to see a patient as a 'favour' and cos she sounded so desperate and while i was here a new patient phoned up and sounded desperate so i saw her too! (i am such a softie really!) and so i had to come back in this week to see them for follow ups and then another new patient phoned up today so i saw him too! so my one 'favour' turned into 2 full mornings of work and i have got more booked in before xmas now. i wasn't PLANNING on coming in till end of jan! its been quite nice though actually! esp as my last patient was a nice young fitness instructor!!!....need i say more? OH MY GOD!!!! why does AF always make me horny?? surely thats not supposed to happen!!!

ok, i feel like i can share with all you lovely ladies.......my sis has been trying for a baby for 2 1/2 years now and she is now about to start artifically inseminating this cycle. i am SO excited for them!!! io dont think they actually have any physiological reason why they can't concieve, its more to do with a lack of sex cos of emotional problems with my sis. so HOPEFULLY she might actually get pg soon!!! i had to order the DIY kit for her, and tell her how to do it and when to do it.......i am just really hoping she doesn't want me to go round and help her actually do it!!! we are close!!! but not THAT close!!! (although obviously i will if i have to!!)

whoops! sorry iampg!!! i think i probably did put shoes on my first!!! so i am sure you will get some use out of them.he will be the best dressed baby around!! i just dont seem to have time to put shoes on marcy....she is lucky if she gets a clean nappy!!!

choosetr - thanks for the info on weaning.sounds a bit odd to me!! might do it the old fashioned way!! dd1 still isnt joining in at ballet. i do sit with her and she loves watching and is full of it when we get home, but just WONT leave my side when we are there! i prob dont help cos i keep saying "go on join in" "you know you want to" and "if you dont join in they wont let us come back next week" so i am pushing her and pushing her whichi am sure is all wrong but i just cant help myself. if i didnt say anything she might have joined in by now. i am very lucky though that they really dont mind us watching and i have faith that she will join in eventually. i think she is a bit younger than max though so he might be a bit braver? with ds at karate he cried and hated it for two weeks and i was sitting outside the room but he could still see me. i nearly stopped taking him cos i thought "why am i paying, just to make him cry for an hour" but i am SO SO glad i perservered cos now he LOVES it and cant wait to go each week and it has done wonders for his confidence!

bodders - i am with you on the scabby old bras!!! i only have a few that i ahve had for ages and i rotate them.none of this diamond encrusted underwear for me!!! although i KNOW dh will buy me some sexy undies for xmas as he does EVERY year!!! normally completely impractical and very uncomfortable and very unappealing at the mo while i am still the size of a whale!

ok.better go home from work now!!! i have left dh with the 3 of them!!! hee hee! wonder hows he coping!!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 08/12/2007 12:20

by the way marcy is an angel again..............dont want you all calling her arsey marcy!!! (mind you i have been at work all morning, so actually none of them have bothered me this morning!!)

Chooster · 09/12/2007 22:07

Hey ladies... Thanks for trying to tell Theo about the error of his ways fettle, but he's still unsettled at night - Grrr!!!! And my non-crying baby has definately found his lungs - Oh yes, he does big tongue wobbling cries now . Not sure who he has picked this up from . Actually I think something is up with him as he's not his usual chirpy self during the day either. He doesn't like to be left on his own at all and is back to making painful groaning sounds after feeding - and he often cries and flails his arms and legs about when he is feeding. I think one of you mentioned about this before and said it felt like trying to feed a baby octopus - well, thats how Theo is these last 3 days or so. Not sure if its teeth, trapped wind, tummy problems, a cold coming on, hunger . Like you Bodders I wondered about feeding him so gave him some apple on saturday and some apple and banana today but I think its made him worse. So I dont think I'll try again for a wee while - he didn't seem that keen. Anyway, I hope my cheerful chap returns soon . Its so difficult being a mum to a baby sometimes when you dont know whats wrong. We've been at my mums all weekend (she's been doing my f-ing head in but thats another story ), and when he cries she says, "whats the matter, is he hungry" - thats her answer to EVERYTHING!!. I jsut want to shout "I dont bloody know what the matter is!!".... Phew - it feels better to get that off my chest. I guess she's been allright really (you see I feel bad now), but she's not feeling well and when she's ill she gets ratty and starts barking orders at people to tidy the house - not easy when there is a toddler running rampage - Bring on Christmas .

Anyway, enough waffle from me... Yup you are right Greedy, Max is a bit older, he's 3 and a half now so he may be OK. Its strange, he's so confident in some situations but if he doesn;t want to join in something he just wont do it. I'll give it a go though.

Good luck tonight with Isla Bodkin - Like Isla, Theo has woken as early as 11pm recently - annoying isn't it. Oh, and very glad that Marcy is 'Marvellous Marcy' these days .

Right, bed I think...

fettleandbabyfettle · 10/12/2007 09:29

Hi ladies!! Hope you are all well and happy?

Christmas is coming!! (feels a bit funny using these festive icons as I was just using them as I conceived this time last year and then miscarried - it is amazing that although I have a beautiful baby now, I still feel sad for that little 6 week old embryo (you'll understand Mrs!).

Anyway - we've had Christmas already! All passed relatively well - actually got some good presents. DD behaved herself as well as can be while we're staying at my in-laws. They're not as tolerant as we are to toddler tantrums and expect her to wait for meals - I gave up this time and just fed her when I knew she was hungry to try and avoid hunger-induced mood swings! Actually they were a lot better than normal, but DD was tired all weekend, which never helps her behave impeccably. Toby thankfully was his normal angelic self - didn't even sleep quite as much as normal, so had lots of cuddles with his grandma and great-nanna! They were both very spoilt, as were both DH and I as always. Quite like having Christmas early with my in-laws, as now I can sit back and enjoy proper Christmas with a relaxed attitude - Christmas in a ski resort isn't quite the same as Christmas at home (just hope the suns shine!!).

anyway......

Chooster - take DS to swimming classes. DD used to love her's when younger, but I used to go in with her. She also loves her gym classes she just started and races in, but she does go with 3 boys from her school. I'm sure he'll love it - what does he think of swimming currently? If he's nervous about that already, then it might be more worrying for him - but definitely worth giving it a go. Sorry that Theo is not a very happy bunny at the moment - sure it is a mixture of all those things you mentioned, so you'll never get to the bottom of it! Babies are worrying creatures - should have some better communication mechanism at this age!

Greedy - sounds like work is busy. You are very good taking on new clients. You and your good-looking clients!. Have to say that the heating/plumbing engineer who fitted our hot water cylinder on Friday, was pretty fit looking (not sure if it was enhanced as I knew that he was giving me back my hot water at last!!!). He was really lovely and squeezed us in really quickly, so our new cylinder arrived on Thursday and he fitted it on Friday morning. Hot water shower this morning was so utterly bliss, but MIL still did all our washing over the weekend!! Loving marvellous marcy!

Bodders - hope Isla's continuing to improve in mood. Hope you weren't too blown away this weekend in the storms.

Mrs - how's the work countdown going? Are they still pushing you too hard? Remember that you are very very pg now, so need to watch your stress levels. Your health and your baby's health is more important than work and they need to realise that. I found it very hard to switch off those in those last few weeks, as work just kept going on and on, while mentally I was starting to want to wind down.

Honey - is Dexter completely better? how are you're other two settling into having a new brother?

sorry everyone else - big hugs to you all. Our house looks awful - there is stuff everywhere, so I really must try and sort it out before Toby wakes up from his morning nap.

Take care all
xxx

OP posts:
Bodkin · 10/12/2007 10:59

Morning all!

Chooster - sorry to hear that Theo's been unsettled - but can I say also a little reassuring to hear I'm not the only one with a grumpy baby that can't be consoled! I'm so with you on the "ooh someone's hungry" being really irritating. Good grief, if it was that easy to keep her happy I'd let her hang off my boob all day! But she is as miserable with a full tum as with an empty one.... the CO seems to have "worn off"! another session tomorrow so we'll see...

I have to confess that I am trying to get Isla to sleep through the night... Have not fed her in the night for the last 3 nights, and things are improving, plus she is feeding much better in the day, as she had started just snacking, and pulling off after a couple of minutes. I decided that she was waking so randomly it couldn't be hunger as I feed her more or less 3 hourly through the day, so how come some nights she can go til 4am, others she's up at 12 Anyway, she isn't really screaming when she wakes at night, it's more of a gentle protest on and off. The first night she woke at 12.15am and was awake for an hour and a bit on and off, and i popped in every now and then for a bit of a pat and check she was warm enough. Then when she did finally go to sleep, she slept through until 6.20am, so I was mucho chuffed. 2nd night was about the same, and last night, was the best yet - she was only protesting on and off for about 30 mins before going back to sleep until 6.15. Hopefully tonight will be even better still. It's hard work in the night, and I do feel a bit guilty, but if I can get her sleeping through I think we'll all cope with her daytime grumpiness a bit better

Fettle - yay for hot water!

Doorbell, back in a bit

Bodkin · 10/12/2007 11:17

Ahh, lovely, all my Chrimbo shopping has arrived from Amazon

Fettle, as I was saying - hooray for hotwater! That must be such a relief! Bet you've been in the bath for about 2 hours! Sounds like it all went well at the ILs. i didn't realise you would be away skiing over Christmas. That'll be fantastic with all that snow! Your lucky DD! Mine is desperate for some snow!

Greedy - can't believe you're back at work (sort of) already! You must be knackered (or is it a welcome break?!) Fantastic news about your sister - I remember you mentioning her a while back. What a lovely sis you are for helping out Fingers crossed that things work out quickly for them. Your old mate Perve should have some top tips for AI shouldn't she Is she still trying do you know?

Right, I'm going to phone my chum who had her baby by CS on Tuesday - i think she must be home by now. She had a boy, and she's called him..... Toby!

Ladies hope everyone is well. All fine here just really busy at work and everywhere else and beginning to struggle with it all. Also found out that a former colleague's baby died shortly after birth last week and I can't stop thinking about her and having nightmares that's 2 babies I know of who have died at birth in the last year, why oh why? sorry for coming on with sad news. Hope to catch up soon. Keep well xx

Bodkin · 11/12/2007 13:01

Mrs - really sorry to hear that, my heart goes out to those poor mums How is your friend that had the baby recently after a stillbirth last year? Everything ok?

Well, project "nil by mouth" at night has come to an end.... she still woke at 3.45 last night, and although she wasn't really screaming, I left her for 20 mins and decided that she obviously still needs a night feed, as that was the 4th night, and I set myself a limit of only trying it for 3 nights, and if she didn't sleep through on the 4th I'd give up. Still, hopefully she will be back to just 1 feed a night now instead of 3!

Just back from CO - he didn't get to do much this time as she was a right old fidget and keeps hurling herself backwards at the moment. She does seem remarkably chilled now though, so I dunno. He did some work on her palate in her mouth - maybe he'd put a bit of valium on his finger before sticking it in her mouth

Hope everyone else is good. My mum is due here for a couple of days arriving any minute. Better go, Isla's just done a huge poo all over the baby gym....

rainbowdays · 11/12/2007 13:55

mrs - i hope you are taking time out to put your feet up!! thats such sad news about your colleague nature is so unfair isnt it - just when you think things should be perfect, it ccertainly makes you take a step back and think

Chooster · 11/12/2007 15:54

Hi ladies - Theo grumpy pants is sleeping so have popped on to say hi. Having said that he only woke up once last night at 3.30am (that is if you count 6.30am as morning as thats when he thought it was).

So sorry to hear about your friend MrsMc - it really is so unfair isn't it. These things always make people feel nervous but try to remember how rare it all is. I know that wont help much though, but I relly hope you are doing well .

Bugger bugger - he's awake... Grrr, will be back later - Good news on the success of the CO Bodkin!!! . PMSL at the valium.

fettleandbabyfettle · 11/12/2007 20:51

Hi all

Loving these festive emoticons - not sure about the and , they just don't look right?!

anyway, Mrs - you really look after yourself and try not to worry about anything. It is just heart-wrenching these stories though. I spoke to my neighbour's fiance yesterday and she was 23 weeks and had to give birth to the baby - just so so awful . I saw her today, but I was with Toby, who was screaming and I just thought I had to get out of there as quick as possible as the sign of a new-ish baby must have been awful for her.

Bodders - PMSL at valium too! Glad Isla seems a bit better though.

Chooster - sorry about grumpy Theo - maybe he is teething?

I've got a grumpy DH tonight, so need to go get him pudding!

Iampg - can't believe you're 33 weeks! Fantastic it's gone quickly! Although it doesn't feel it to you - sorry you are getting some pain though - hope it is not too bad.

Hi Rainbowy - hope all well with you and your spy job!!

Right, really must go - hungry DH's are not happy bunnies!!, but just quickly wanted to tell you all that toby slept through again last night - well 10pm to 6.45am! He's starting to be more awake during the day and much more smiley as well, which is lovely. Hope we have more through the nighters, but not holding out much hope really, but I can dream! falling off his percentile on the weight charts though, so need to keep an eye on him - still on the 50th, which isn't bad, but he was on the 75th.
