Those of you who have had the abdominal ultrasounds, advice on how much water to drink beforehand? Slightly worried i'll wee myself as water usually goes straight in and out!

FINALLY got the epu to give me an early scan tomorrow, after two bleeds. Anxious isnt even the word, I've just been lying on my bed unsure of what to do with myself

aureliacecilia · 10/08/2020 18:37

I think you'll be fine with a pint an hour before.

bumblingalonghappily · 10/08/2020 18:46

Thanks for tagging me here @Sussexbysea Smile Hope everyone's doing well. I had my follow up scan at the EPU today and thankfully the pregnancy has continued to progress well so they shouldn't need to see me again unless I get more spotting.

JTB123 · 10/08/2020 19:01

FYI to anyone having a booking appointment in person... drink water before you go as they as for a urine sample whilst you're there 🤣🤣 I had to sit in the car after with a frozen bottle of water I took out the freezer, wait for it to melt... and then give a sample and even then I only filled half 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

I was told to drink over a pint in the hour beforehand- and that was a struggle to hold!
JTB123 · 10/08/2020 19:02

@DSP21 great news that they're scanning you! I wouldn't drink more than recommend, I had an abdominal scan about 5 years ago and I drank way over a pint and I was SO uncomfortable whilst waiting, SO uncomfortable during the scan and almost pissed myself whilst running out to find a loo after 🤣

ValidUser · 10/08/2020 19:10

Thanks for the tag @Sussexbysea!

@KatyCherry23 I also have EDS, but this is my first. I'm on progesterone following IVF and my joints are all over the place!

ValidUser · 10/08/2020 19:11

I'm 7 weeks today. Next scan Wednesday week.

DSP21 · 10/08/2020 19:23

@JTB123 😂 that's what I'm worried about!

DSP21 · 10/08/2020 19:24

@frommywindow ahh, definitely less than a pint then!

Oldermum80 · 10/08/2020 20:14

@DSP21 that’s good that you’ve managed to get one! Hoping tomorrow you have positive news.

DSP21 · 10/08/2020 20:18

Thank you so much @Oldermum80 keeping everything crossed. So frustrating I have to go in alone

chloxhunt · 10/08/2020 21:07

I've got slightly pink discharge anxieties bad right now and I'm seeing the midwife on Wednesday don't know if I can wait this long

Babafarmer · 10/08/2020 21:14

@DSP21 so pleased you've got a scan tomorrow. What time? We all have our fingers and toes crossed for you.
@Aurora124 my face look like a pepperoni pizza it's awful. I haven't suffered with spots for 20 years xx

Aurora124 · 10/08/2020 21:19

@Babafarmer oh i think you have tagged the wrong person, but iv heard acne/spots are a sign it's a girl!

I had my first scan today. I was so scared, I definitely had a full bladder! It was so uncomfortable when the midwife pushed on my stomach. I am so relieved everything is ok so far. Saw a heartbeat.im measuring 3 days smaller than I thought so it was 7 +4 rather than 8 weeks today.

DSP21 · 10/08/2020 21:36

@Babafarmer thank yoou, it took a lot of calls and convincing! 11am tomorrow, just got to get through the night and morning without going crazy

Sorry meant to tag @aureliacecilia

LottieX · 10/08/2020 22:03

@chloxhunt you've got this. Pink discharge is probably just little bean kicking stuff out the way! I'll let you know what the midwife says at my booking in appointment tomorrow.

@DSP21 good luck for tomorrow, let us know how it goes and well done for fighting to be seen!

chloxhunt · 10/08/2020 22:14

@LottieX ahh I hope everything's okay! Mines in my discharge seeing my midwife for the first time on Wednesday so I'll bring it up then! It hasn't gotten darker or anything today which is good! Browny pink is usually a good sign as it's not new blood

GreysLove · 11/08/2020 07:35

Morning ladies, good luck to all with scans today and this week. I'm still holding off for my 12w one and not going private since I have been feeling generally well (exhausted and aching boobs).

Until this morning, I had an awful nights sleep. Really bloated and gassy and after being constipated for the past few days iv just been to the loo with the opposite (tmi). I know it's not a normal symptom and I'm a bit worried I've picked up a bug or something. Feel super nauseous this morning too and like I could be sick soon :( anyone else had a runny tummy as part of their morning sickness?

JTB123 · 11/08/2020 07:47

@GreysLove I really wouldn't worry I've been the CEO of runny tummy's since I found out at the end of July. No kidding, every single day, it's exhausting and I can't go anywhere!

I spoke to my midwife yesterday and she just told me to monitor it as it will either be the hormones or my diet. X

GreysLove · 11/08/2020 07:57

Thanks for the reply, that's reassured me a bit. I reckon I'll be spending most of the day in bed/ loo :( feeling sorry for myself.

Anonymom31 · 11/08/2020 08:03

@GreysLove I get a runny tummy every other day! I know how you feel. Im exhausted with it too as its keeping me up at night. My midwife thinks it's mt medication so they have said if it carries on ill have to move onto insulin but I don't want to just yet!

Its so worrying having a runny time. I get it after my main meal mostly so if we go anywhere for food at the moment which is rare but still, we have to rush home to make sure im by the loo :(

aureliacecilia · 11/08/2020 08:12

@Aurora124 I've not heard of that before! I find it hard to imagine this baby as anything other than a boy but that's just because I have a son already. I really don't mind what sex it is at all but I seem to imagine my little family with two sons. It'll be interesting to find out what we're having.

@Babafarmer I suppose I'm fortunate most of my acne is on my chest but it's still pretty annoying!

Taylortyler · 11/08/2020 08:26

@aureliacecilia it's funny how you get in your head what you think it'll be, I'm absolutely convinced I'll have a girl - if it turns out to be a boy I'll be so shocked!
