Should I be worried that I don't have a bump yet? I'm 10+2 and can't even feel hardness in my stomach yet! Is that normal for a first time mum?

ChilternsHan · 24/08/2020 11:43

@Phie04 yes I think that's normal! Your uterus is still tucked comfortably down in your pelvis. I'm a first timer too at 10+6 and I don't have a bump yet, I'm a bit bloated but you wouldn't recognise it as pregnancy. I think the harder belly comes a bit later.

I just checked on the website for my midwife trust and from today they're allowing one adult to accompany you, so pleased that my husband can come in with me next week Smile

Sussexbysea · 24/08/2020 12:13

@Phie04 with my first, I didn’t have a bump until around 20isj weeks and no movements until around the same time. It’s perfectly normal xx

loobyloo1234 · 24/08/2020 12:20

I think thats normal @Phie04 - I am 11+1 - some days I can see a bump, sometimes I can't Smile

If it helps, the my baby only measured 40mm in the private scan - soooo diddy Smile That along with how low it is at the moment, seems to tie in with not much of a bump yet

Phie04 · 24/08/2020 12:49

Ah thanks ladies! Glad you've said this as dont want to grow out of clothes just yet lol

Thanks everyone for the congrats, still getting my head round it but I'm now seeing twins everywhere!.
My Nan has twin sisters that didn't survive birth but that was back in the 30's so guess it's skipped 2 generations.
Just had the most amazing hot chocolate from an ice cream van with whippey ice cream on top and a flake it was heaven xx

c24680 · 24/08/2020 14:14

@Dipsy77 aww that's lovely news! You're going to have so much fun!

I'm an identical twin and I've loved every minute of it 😁

JTB123 · 24/08/2020 14:21

Just thought I'd let you know I got my prescription certificate in the post today! So only took a week or so to come 😁

TheFoz · 24/08/2020 14:24

I just got a call to say my bloods all came back clear so that’s good. One less thing to worry about!

BabyG21 · 24/08/2020 14:30

@Dipsy77 congratulations that’s such lovely news. I am also a twin and it’s just the best.
Hot choc sounds delicious just be careful on the mr whippy ice cream - I can’t remember which celeb I was following on insta that had one when pregnant and was warned off them - I didn’t even realise it was something to be careful of.

Good luck to those having scans this week. Whilst these weeks seemed to have dragged they also seem to have gone quickly and can’t believe we are all in or entering our third month of pregnancy!

How long did it take for peoples 12 week scan to come through? My booking app was last week and approx 10 weeks and just hoping i get a date soon.

Phie04 · 24/08/2020 14:34

@BabyG21 its crazy how quickly it has approached but also feels like its taken MONTHS to get here! I have my 12 wk next Tues and I'm so excited. I had my booking in app around 4 weeks and it took ages for my app to tell me about the scan. I got the letter about 3 weeks ago so it should come through any time!

OP posts:
ChilternsHan · 24/08/2020 14:38

@BabyG21 I got my scan letter pretty much exactly a week after my booking in appointment. They also gave me the date for my 20 week scan.

Some days I find that I can distract myself, but others (like today) I am verging on obsessed with being pregnant and can't stop myself Googling all sorts of different things. If I was back in the office I think I'd be ok as I'd still be trying to hide it, but wfh gives me too much freedom!

BabyG21 · 24/08/2020 14:43

Thanks @Phie04 and @ChilternsHan, hopefully I will hear this week - at least then it’s something to look forward to.
I had a week like that last week wfh, couldn’t concentrate and just constantly thinking about it.

My sister is very excited so at the weekend She has been looking at and showing me pushchairs and furniture for the nursery, trying not to get ahead of myself and get too excited but it’s so difficult not to have a little look and think about what the next months will have in store.

Phie04 · 24/08/2020 14:53

I feel that too! Some days I feel down about the idea and keep thinking about all the negatives of being pregnant and then the next day I'm overly excited and googling all sorts

OP posts:
c24680 · 24/08/2020 15:18

I feel the same so I guess it's perfectly normal!

I have my 12 week scan on Thursday, just want to get to that then hopefully relax a bit. I wasn't this anxious with DD I guess because it's not all new now I'm just worried about what could happen.

loobyloo1234 · 24/08/2020 15:20

just be careful on the mr whippy ice cream - I can’t remember which celeb I was following on insta that had one when pregnant and was warned off them

Was it Camilla Thurlow @BabyG21 ?

I saw that too and up until then, I'd had no idea. We're allowed McFlurry's though if that helps? I've researched and had some

Sussexbysea · 24/08/2020 15:46

@Twinny311088 how did you get on with your scan today?

GreysLove · 24/08/2020 16:03

@krj2608 @chloxhunt @DSP21 thanks :)

I had a bit more brown spotting this morning and what I'd call niggly pains (diff to the cramps I had up until now), called GP then EPU who just called me back and i am getting scanned on Wed at 1. Shes not worried but I reckon since it's a full 3 weeks until my scheduled scan they've decided to see me to put my mind at ease which is such a relief. OH allowed to come too thank goodness...keeping everything crossed that a happy little fetus with a heartbeat will be the best birthday present ever on Wed x

krj2608 · 24/08/2020 16:25

@GreysLove that's good news! Happy birthday for Wednesday (birthday twin!) xxx

Dreamcatcher007 · 24/08/2020 16:28

Finally had my first scan today - feel absolutely elated! EDD confirmed on the same date as per the ovulation - 4th of March.

I now can’t wait for my blood test to come back and then in 3 more weeks we’ll have a private diagnostic scan with DH, NIPT, and will find out the gender. It’s so real now! 👏👏👏

Phie04 · 24/08/2020 16:32

@Dreamcatcher007 wow congratulations that is a super clear picture! At least some worries can be left in the first trimester now and you can concentrate on waiting for the gender reveal!

Can't wait to see what every body is having 😁 we're hoping to have a private gender scan the end of Sept which is very soon and very surreal

Dreamcatcher007 · 24/08/2020 16:41

@Phie04 Thanks so much!! I have a feeling it’s another boy but can’t wait to find out and get on with choosing the name - I’m so impatient! We are already planning whether we need to do some building work in the house in the next 6 months, when I tell work etc - we are most likely jumping ahead of ourselves, but it’s all so exciting! 🤞🤞

Dreamcatcher007 · 24/08/2020 16:51

Could I make a quick poll here please? I was wondering what people’s thoughts are on applying for a new job at my current company given the pregnancy? I’ve been at the company for 8 years, around 5 years in the current role, and there’s a job opportunity for a higher grade role with much more pressure, and more responsibility. I’m planning to take around a year maternity leave hopefully. I still have to pass the interview and tests, but if I do, would you tell about your pregnancy to your new manager straight away? Or would you even bother applying?

I think legally I have to tell my employer about the pregnancy at 20 weeks right? That’s right about when I’d be starting that new job (after the notice period), so not very nice for the manager but at the same time what other way is there for a working mother to grow her career... Feeling torn!

Pollito · 24/08/2020 17:11

Congrats @Dipsy77! I've been keeping my head down here just trying to get to 12 weeks, but we had a private scan that came back as twins too! I think it's taken the past couple of weeks to get over the shock of it (none on either side of the family) but it's nice that theres someone else on here with double trouble! :)

Phie04 · 24/08/2020 17:19

@Dreamcatcher007 I think mine is a boy too. Kind of hoping it is as I have a name for a boy that I LOVE. Either way I'm not bothered because I would also love a little girl. OH wants a girl so at least one of us will be please Grin
