@JoesM12 definitely sounds like jealousy. Sometimes it’s easier to sound blasé and indifferent when you’re hurting. I have a weirdly high proportion of friends who have struggled with infertility and you never really know how people are going to react to pregnancy news. There’s always happiness at the heart but other emotions come out too - anger, pretending not to care, ignoring it’s happening, way too over the top involved... that all-consuming feeling when you start ttc can do weird things to you even if you’ve only just started!

Also you have convinced me to go for the further hospital 😀 I’m referring now.

@CatCrazyx I have prepared myself that she will probably be quite angry with me at first as that’s how she has been with others. We’ve been friends long enough that I know if she needs space from me for a while we will come back together when she has got her head around it. Just really not looking forward to it!

JoesM12 · 18/08/2020 16:44

Thank you both! Yes I think I might try and approach it in a very considerate way. I don’t want to accuse her of being jealous or not happy for me in anyway. I’m sure she is happy for us!
I try not to talk it about it a lot anyway because I don’t want to be that person.
Maybe I’ll just not mention it until (if) she asks me how I’m doing.
I really don’t want to upset her and if it is an emotional topic for her it might be best we don’t discuss it!

JoesM12 · 18/08/2020 16:57

That’s a very tough position to be in with your friend @LuckyFlash
I hope she can be happy for you in her own time!x

CatCrazyx · 18/08/2020 17:17

@Lynz2020 Really sorry to hear what happened 😔 I can imagine it’s a nightmare! I totally understand that you’re worried. I’m worried myself so must be twice the worry for you. I’m sure this time round will be different 😊

Out of curiosity, how has everyone changed their diets since finding out? I’m conscious that I’m not eating as healthy as I should. I try to get my 5 a day in but it’s more 2/3 a day. In saying that I’m not exactly stuffing my face with cr4p either...

LeopardLover · 18/08/2020 17:34

@BuckleUp You'll be proud of me - I called my GP! Who told me to call my local midwife centre. So I've left a message on their answering machine. 😊 I live in a big city and the answering message said they are very busy so who knows when I'll hear back!

@JoesM12 So I managed to change my address! They said I had to come into the surgery but I said this wasn't possible and to just use my old address. Then the receptionist spoke to her colleague and they said they could text me a link which allowed me to give my new address over the phone. 😊 Hopefully yours has a similar system.

BuckleUp · 18/08/2020 18:04

@LeopardLover yay! At least it gets the wheels turning if they are busy. You don't want to miss your slot. I'm fairly rural so haven't had any issues so far but it might be different in a city!

LeopardLover · 18/08/2020 18:41

@Lynz2020 Sorry to hear about your loss 😔 Wishing you a healthy pregnancy and a beautiful rainbow baby. 🌈

@BuckleUp Thanks. 😊 Also just discovered there's an early scan clinic less than 5 minutes from our new house (with loads of availability) so that will be happening at some point 😅

JoesM12 · 18/08/2020 19:07

Thank you @LeopardLover 😊 I will call them again tomorrow and see if I can get anywhere with it!!x

BuckleUp · 19/08/2020 15:14

Well that's my boss in the know. HR confirmed it's a blanket ban on pregnant employees on site so I've had to tell my line manager.. Can't believe I've had to inform work before I've even told my PIL! Anyone else having to tell their work this early?

LeopardLover · 19/08/2020 15:24

@BuckleUp Ugh, I'm sorry. What a pain! 😔 I work in an office so we're currently all WFH - and my manager is still furloughed. I don't think we'll be forced to return to the office any time so it's a bit different for me. X

BuckleUp · 19/08/2020 15:33

@LeopardLover I'm a trainer on site. Luckily I've been working from home since March but we've been gearing up to resume training in September so I've had to tell my boss Ive been told to continue working from home. She was very supportive, but I still feel guilty. I really value my career so TTC was a big decision for us.

LeopardLover · 19/08/2020 15:56

@BuckleUp Oh it's great she was so supportive!! 💜 It might actually be a blessing in disguise in case you don't feel up to work and with appointments etc. I can understand the guilty feeling but I'm a firm believer in everything happens for a reason. My SIL even got a promotion prior to heading on maternity leave so you aren't necessarily picking one over the other!

BuckleUp · 19/08/2020 15:58

@LeopardLover Aww thank you, that's good to know. And you're right, I'll feel better being at home on an off day than I would being at work. How are you getting on? x

LeopardLover · 19/08/2020 16:14

@BuckleUp My BBT rose overnight 😊 I compared my Femometer app to my Fitbit app and it was clear the dips happened when I didn't get enough sleep so I feel better about that. My RHR has also shot up since conception which is crazy but normal (so the Internet says).

I've also booked an early scan for mid-September when I'll be 8+2 (at Window to Womb). 😊 This morning I woke up with slightly swollen fingers, and I've had a few mild pains but that's it! How's your nausea?

BuckleUp · 19/08/2020 16:26

@LeopardLover That's very reassuring! I haven't monitored RHR but I bet the data is interesting! I'm thinking of booking a scan around 8/9 weeks so we can tell DH's parents and so DH can attend. I'm going to book last minute though.

I didn't know swollen fingers were a thing! I'm glad you're not suffering much otherwise though. I'm still getting twinges of nausea, but it's very mild and much improved since taking the docs advice to change my vitamins 😊

LeopardLover · 19/08/2020 17:04

@BuckleUp It's so nice to see it all! And it's very reassuring.

Ahhh, yes - that's a great idea and I'm sure there will be availability - I saw loads at my spot. 😊 I feel like I might cave and tell my mum before 12 weeks! 🙈

It's so random isn't it!? The other thing is bloating - I feel huge! Oh that's great it's just mild at the moment, hopefully it remains mild throughout. 🙏🏻

MrsDash · 19/08/2020 17:08

Hello! I’m due 3rd April.

I’ve had sore boobs constantly since before I tested and now had sickness for a bit over a week. Also exhausted and hungry all the time which then alternates with the nausea.

I had a 7 week scan on Monday as we had IVF and all is looking well. Amazing you can see a heart beat so early! Smile

MrsDash · 19/08/2020 17:11

Here’s my 7 week scan photo. I was allowed to film the screen too (because my husband wasn’t allowed in). The video is much much clearer than the photo. I saw the yolk sack, the baby and clear heart beat.

BuckleUp · 19/08/2020 18:43

@MrsDash That must have been so special for you. Congratulations 💐

MrsDash · 19/08/2020 18:51

Thank you! X

LeopardLover · 19/08/2020 19:28

@MrsDash Omgosh, what a lovely clear image! Huge congratulations!! 💜

MrsDash · 19/08/2020 19:33

Thank you! The video was clearer. This is a screenshot.

Welcome @MrsDash and @Lynz2020

RE telling others, we're not telling if we can before 12 weeks because of a previous loss. I had told a couple of friends about the previous and one in particular was a great support but another was really not (I don't think she was trying to be unkind but she was).

I work in healthcare so I'll need to be careful and wear PPE etc but in healthcare we can work unless high risk pregnancy which I'm not. Have to wear the PPE anyway! And hopefully it will hide all the bloating over the next few weeks Grin

Hey all, enjoying reading all your messages. I'm coming up to 6 weeks now and definitely getting waves of mild nausea.. Mostly cured by a little snack 😂 I think it's when I'm getting hungry. Also getting some period like pains on and off.. Don't remember getting that last time but I guess and hope it's just things stretching etc.

We're considering booking an early scan too, we go on holiday with my family in September when I'll be about 9 weeks so would be nice to tell them when we're all together and knowing things are OK.

I work in a school so starting back in September is going to be hard going I think. I remember how exhausted I was around 8 weeks last time and I didn't have a toddler then!!
