@BuckleUp Hehe poor DH - at least you get all the fun 😉 Just had my scan appointment through - 15th October when I'll be 13 weeks. 😴 Feels like an eternity away!

@haidri Hello and welcome! I haven't had massive symptoms either. I second what @BuckleUp has said - can you speak to your GP? 😔 Hopefully they can do another scan and reassure you. How far are you?

BuckleUp · 25/09/2020 13:22

@LeopardLover At last! It'll feel a long way away, but the last couple of weeks waiting for mine has flown by. I think it helps that the symptoms are gradually improving so I'm feeling more like myself again. Crack on with you DIY and your scan will be here before you know it 😊

pandabear437 · 25/09/2020 14:36

Thanks :) it’s really only for harmony I’m going private, And because I want an earlier scan for reassurance. Midwives and subsequent scans will all be NHS. Don’t mind paying for additional reassurance because it’s not medically needed, it’s just my preference.

Lynz2020 · 25/09/2020 14:48

Update - everything is good! I'm so relieved. I'm now 10w4d.

@Lynz2020 That's great news! What a lovely scan image 😊

Parkandride · 25/09/2020 16:00

So pleased for you @lynz2020 and what a lovely image

Just gone into a local lockdown here, don't think I'll get to announce to anyone in person now when I get to 12 weeks now boo

haidri · 25/09/2020 18:17

@BuckleUp I'm 10wks 3days in. They've just told me to be hopeful for a miracle but I don't know why there's a complication when I'm generally healthy

BuckleUp · 25/09/2020 19:09

@haidri I guess you'll just have to wait and see in that case. I'm sorry I can't offer further advice. If you're really concerned you may be able to get another scan for reassurance, but otherwise you'll know more after your 12 week scan. These things can happen to anyone, I know ladies who have had multiple early losses before giving birth to healthy babies. Even if this one doesn't work out (which I hope it does), it doesn't mean you'll necessarily have issues in future. Let us know how it goes. In the meantime we're here for support and there are lots of other places to go for emotional support too. Thinking of you x

haidri · 25/09/2020 19:14

@BuckleUp you've been a gem!

Sastuk · 26/09/2020 16:05

Hi, I’m due end of April, I’m 38 and had a m/c in 2006 previous r’ship no other children so it’s been a long wait and when I saw the BFP I was really excited but also scared. It seems like I’ve had every pregnancy symptom going and I’m not enjoying it at all just hoping feeling so sick is a good sign and that I’ll make it to the ‘golden’ 12 week mark after which I’m sincerely hoping to not feel so sick! looking forward to meeting little one but also not counting my chickens

BuckleUp · 28/09/2020 09:29

@Sastuk Congratulations on your BFP. I'm sorry it's been such a difficult journey for you, but hopefully even the sickness will be worth it when you're finally holding baby in your arms.

I'm feeling upset and disappointed. It was expected, but I've just called the antenatal department to find out if DH can join me tomorrow and he can't. I know it's why we booked a private scan two weeks ago, but it just feels so unfair, especially when it's our first.. I think I was holding out hope that the rules might have changed, hence feeling so upset about it 😢

Sastuk · 28/09/2020 10:00

@BuckleUp that’s completely unfair, no expectant mother should have to go alone despite their circumstances a supporter be it DH, partner or friend should be able to go in too. After all it’s not just a photo opportunity, feeling your disappointment too, make sure you call again tomorrow in case they change the rules over night - you never know! X

LeopardLover · 28/09/2020 10:38

@BuckleUp I hate this so much. You're definitely justified to feel this way. I wonder if you're allowed to face time? I know it's not the same 😔 I hope you still enjoy it and you can be together for the 20 week!

Our weekend was mostly full of DIY and our worktops are being fitted today so the kitchen will be working. I think my best pal has sussed me out, she noticed I was getting out of breath when we were out for a walk and questioned why I'm not a gym rat anymore 🙈 I've definitely gained weight too! Sized up in jeans at the weekend...

LuckyFlash · 28/09/2020 10:45

@BuckleUp I have mine tomorrow too and DH can’t come. I always knew that would be the case but I’m really nervous for the blood tests and really wish he could come. I’m slightly dreading it.

Has anyone had their 12 week yet? I’m sure it’s different in all hospitals but interested to know if everything was done in one go I.e the same person doing the scan and then bloods right after in the same room or whether they are separate and I’ll have to wait to have blood taken after the scan?

LuckyFlash · 28/09/2020 10:47

@LeopardLover I knew my best friend was getting suspicious of my excuses for not drinking so I told her this weekend. I was super worried about it as she has been struggling with infertility for 2 years and has had 2 miscarriages but She was so nice about it. So relieved to have told some people!!

Mimba1 · 28/09/2020 10:57

@LuckyFlash I had my 12wk scan last week. Had to drink 1 pint of water 1hr before and same as you DH had to stay in the car park. He's allowed to come to the 20wk scan which is good. First got called in to see the midwife for the scan. She asked whether I wanted screening and got me to sign a form to say that I did. Then she did the scan including the nuchal translucency measurement and showed me that everything was OK based on measurements. Probably took 5-10 minutes. That was in a darkened room so she could see better. Then asked to wait back in the same waiting room as before - I wish I'd taken the chance to go to the loo! 20 minutes later I was called in for the blood test by a different midwife in a different room with normal lighting. She had done my growth chart (unique to everyone) and put it in my book and took the blood which was fairly quick - I hate it too but just try to breathe deeply and look the other way! I had a few questions which she was happy to answer. They said if anything is wrong to expect a phone call within 3-5 working days, if it's OK then I'll get a letter in 10-14 working days. Obviously might differ between hospitals as you say but seems likely it would be with different people. Hope that helps!

BuckleUp · 28/09/2020 11:05

@Sastuk I don't think it'll change by tomorrow. It's upsetting but I'll just have to deal with it. I knew this wouldn't be a normal pregnancy experience with it being in the middle of a pandemic. What's your area doing fur scans?

@LeopardLover That's a good idea, I hadn't thought of that. I might see if they'll let me film it as you can always see more in a video that the still image. Haha! Has she asked directly? The news is starting to get out around our friends. DH told a couple of close mates and we'll tell the rest after the scan tomorrow. Still got some extended family to tell too. I haven't gained weight but my waist is definitely thicker. I feel so chunky! No bump yet though - just insane bloating 😂

@LuckyFlash I'm sorry you're in the same situation. I know a lot of people are. The bloods are ok, they took mine at my booking in appointment. If you keep hydrated it'll be easier for them to take blood quickly. I hope it goes well, looking forward to seeing your pictures x

@Mimba1 Thanks for sharing your experience!

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 28/09/2020 11:17

Got my 12 week on Wednesday. At my booking in appt I was told that partners were allowed but given the rise in cases I’m wondering whether it’s now changed. DH will be gutted if he’s not allowed in.

LeopardLover · 28/09/2020 11:39

@LuckyFlash Oh I bet you're so relieved she took it so well! 😊 I just can't tell mine before my mum knows (who 100% knows anyway I think haha). I wish I didn't have to wait until 13 weeks for my scan 😅

@BuckleUp My trust sent a letter to say no filming but my SIL was allowed to face time! I think it's just pot luck so hopefully they will be lenient. 🙏🏻 Oh lucky you not gaining weight haha. I'm hoping to get back into exercise soon. Mine is all carbs and junk food fat I think 😅

Sastuk · 28/09/2020 13:14

@LeopardLover that is a really good idea.

Also they say on NHS website that scan photos are free if your partner is not allowed to attend so make sure you get some

@BuckleUp fortunately I’ve been told in my area (Suffolk) partners can attend but I haven’t got a scan date through yet and things change daily 🤷🏻‍♀️ Who knows it may be a couple of weeks away yet I’m waiting for the invite...

@Mimba1 yes that’s similar to my scan 14 years ago not much has changed there but I’m hoping for a better outcome this time

BuckleUp · 28/09/2020 13:25

@FoxtrotOscarPoppet I hope it stay the same for you. Private clinics are doing well out of this!

@LeopardLover That's a shame 😢. I hope mine is more lenient. I'll find out tomorrow in any case! Yeah, I'm hoping to get running gently again. I've only managed a couple of runs in the last month or two. Too tired and nauseous to go out usually! I know it's bad when I get out of puff walking up the hill 😂. Enjoy those carbs while you can!

@Sastuk I can't believe you don't have a date yet! They booked mine in at my booking in appointment. I hope your DP can still join you x

Lollol86 · 28/09/2020 13:46

@LuckyFlash bloods are ok and if you are worried asked you lay down just to be on the safe side xx

Lollol86 · 28/09/2020 13:46

Should say ask to lay down

KeepSmiling89 · 28/09/2020 13:48

Eek! 12 week scan is tomorrow! FINALLY! Checked with midwife and she said partners can still attend so we're all good.
Fingers crossed all goes well...not gonna lie, still very nervous though!

Lollol86 · 28/09/2020 13:49

I think I've joined the other April thread and getting totally confused which is which 😂😂 so I hope it's ok to join. I've been to scared to join as I had a miscarriage in June. I had a scan on Saturday and my little bean was looking well with a strong heartbeat so that's given me some reassurance. I'm 10 + 2 today and have my scan 2 weeks tomorrow.
