@Tarantallegra Congratulations! I'm glad your scan showed everything was healthy and not long to wait for your next one at least 😊

Lynz2020 · 22/09/2020 13:59

Its a right pain to have. It's like nothing I eat is agreeing with me and I haven't drastically changed my diet either. I'm waiting for a call back from the nurse to see what they can suggest if anything.

LeopardLover · 22/09/2020 19:20

@BuckleUp Absolutely - classic mum comment 😅 I really hope my scan letter arrives super quickly! I can't wait to be open with at least our families. Awww, hope you're feeling a little better now? I know what you mean - sometimes you need the distraction. We spent the rest of today laying our flooring in the kitchen. I wish I wasn't back at work tomorrow because I finally feel productive. 😅

@Tarantallegra Omgosh, how incredible! Such a cute photo and congratulations - we're happy to have you on the April thread. How are your symptoms? 💕

SkyeBarn · 22/09/2020 21:19

How long after everyone's midwife appointment did they have to do their bloods and get their midwife appointment through the post?

LeopardLover · 22/09/2020 22:14

@SkyeBarn I had my booking appointment today and my bloods are booked in for next Thursday! They said I'll get my next appointment on that date. 😊

KeepSmiling89 · 22/09/2020 22:58

@SkyeBarn I had blood taken and gave a urine sample at my booking appointment. Seems I got an 'all-in-one' booking appointment!

BuckleUp · 23/09/2020 07:28

@Lynz2020 Was the nurse able to offer any advice? I hope you're feeling better soon

BuckleUp · 23/09/2020 07:33

@LeopardLover Your day sounded very productive! Yesterday was a bad day for nausea until the end. Hopefully today is better 😊. I blitzed the house in a cleaning frenzy last night. We're getting kittens today and I wanted to make it as kitten proof as possible!

@SkyeBarn My booking in appointment was face to face so they did all their tests at the same time. Hopefully you get your appointment soon

Lynz2020 · 23/09/2020 07:53

@BuckleUp She just suggested bland food and to stay away from spicy, fatty foods, chocolate and to not have much dairy Hmm my options are pretty limited lol. Said as long a i haven't been sick or have stomach pains then she saw no need to worry and it might clear up in time but if not to ring them back.

Tarantallegra · 23/09/2020 09:53

Thanks everyone!

@LeopardLover no sickness so far just nausea and a lot of exhaustion. The worst one by far is the constipation, I was prepared for everything else but not this amount of prune juice Envy

@BuckleUp kittens!!!!! How exciting for you. I know this is a pregnancy thread but please can we have a picture when you get them? I'm a slight mad cat lady Grin

@Lynz2020 I've been relatively lucky with food so far but when I'm feeling really ill I find potatoes in any form to be the easiest thing to eat. Maybe you could do a plain baked potato with a few toppings on the side and try a nibble of each one but go back to the plain potato if you can't manage it. Things like cuppa soup might work if you can trick your body into thinking you're just having a drink.

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 23/09/2020 13:23

Hi Ladies. Just catching up as I’ve not been on here for a few days.
Nausea and sickness have been awful. 11+3 today and it feels like it’s getting worse rather than improving. GP signed me off work last week.
Got my scan next Weds and crossing everything that all is well with baby.
I’ve loved seeing the scan pictures that some of you have shared.

LeopardLover · 23/09/2020 13:36

@BuckleUp My glutes are killing today! That's a pain I haven't felt in a long time. 😅 Oh no! Hope you're feeling better today? You must be SO excited! Kittens with an 's'? Eeeek 😍

@Tarantallegra Hopefully just 2 more weeks of nausea to go! Ugh, constipation is not a fun one! 😔 P.S I'm also eating potatoes pretty much every day 😅

@FoxtrotOscarPoppet Oh no! I'm sorry you've been feeling so poorly. Are you on any anti-sickness meds? Not long until you get to see that baby of yours 😍

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 23/09/2020 14:35

Hi @LeopardLover. Not currently on any. They prescribed me cyclizine in my first pregnancy but it wasn’t any use so GP says it’s unlikely it’ll work this time.
I’ve got very low blood pressure which is also contributing to me feeling like this.

KeepSmiling89 · 23/09/2020 15:35

Just wanted to share a scary and upsetting dream I had last night. I dreamed I miscarried...I'd woken up, taken my PJ bottoms off to have a shower and there was blood, like thick bright red blood with a weird shaped darker clot (I'm guessing this might've been the baby...?)
However, when I looked closer, the blood was like really bad fake blood used in really old horror movies (where you know it's just paint).

I woke up and, thankfully, no bleeding or spotting. I know its just anxiety but it did freak me out! I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and have my scan on Tuesday next week (less than a week now!)

Has anyone else had dreams like this?

Tarantallegra · 23/09/2020 16:23

@KeepSmiling89 OMG yes! Too many dreams like this, it's terrifying but totally common apparently. Living in constant fear is the new normal now!

pandabear437 · 23/09/2020 19:23

Booki appointment was half an hour in the phone in the morning, then a face to face appointment in the afternoon just to do weight, BP and bloods.

My GP referred me for my scan when I told her I was pregnant around 6 weeks, so I got my
Appointment letter through about a week later

Argh scary dreams. I had one where I had taken something which turned out to induce a miscarriage (I didn’t realise at the time), but somehow the person that gave me this stuff (details are a bit sketchy) didn’t realise I was pregnant. It was horrible, woke up so scared but breathed a huge sigh of relief when I realised it was a dream

cheekypanda · 23/09/2020 19:59

@pandabear437 that's amazingly quick! I'm nearly 11 weeks and haven't yet had a letter for booking in or scan! Called today and managed to get both arranged over the phone I'll be 13 weeks. Glad I had a private scan at 10 weeks

pandabear437 · 23/09/2020 20:03

@cheekypanda varies so much by region doesn’t it, but around where I am that’s how it has been for all 3 of my pregnancies - scan referred by GP, and then booking in appt around 9 weeks.

It’ll all get done eventually, and I’m sure our little beans are happily growing in the meantime

Parkandride · 23/09/2020 20:47

Sympathies for the scary dreams, not what you need right now!

Has anyone else found themselves telling random people when you've not actually told friends and family yet? Just had a haircut and wasn't sure if I should mention it, but wasn't having colour so figured it was ok. But at a restaurant I had to say I was pregnant when faced with the cheese board, felt weird!

BuckleUp · 23/09/2020 21:15

@Lynz2020 That advice sounds erm.. helpful? Hopefully you can stomach bland food. Luckily I seem to live off a diet of potatoes and cheese at the moment.

@Tarantallegra I'll add a couple from the shelter to this post for you. They haven't stayed still long enough yet to get pics!

@FoxtrotOscarPoppet Sorry to hear you've been feeling so rough. At least you know baby is happy and healthy! Hope you feel better soon 😊

@LeopardLover Haha DIY is such a good workout! Yes - TWO kittens 😆. They're sooo cute!

@KeepSmiling89 What a horrible dream! I've been dreaming vividly too but they usually focus on me finding some an abandoned premature baby and having no clue how to help.. I hope it's not a premonition!

@cheekypanda I hope you get your appointments sorted soon. I think some regions are really overloaded with maternity appointments at the moment..

@BuckleUp the kittens are gorgeous. Be careful with the cat poop though. You may want some gloves and masks. I've got two house cats and I don't do the poop at the moment, as it's a bit risky.

I really feel for all you ladies still waiting on appointment/scan dates. I fully appreciate that were in a pandemic and the NHS are doing their best, however, it does seem like so many of us are paying the price through delayed appointments or lack of care face-to-face.

I was shocked to learn that when my 16 week and 23 week appointments come around, that they will be over the phone.

It just doesn't seem adequate enough care for a pregnant women in my opinion. It's such scary time as it is being pregnant, I kind of feel like I'm not going to receive proper care, or serious problems could be missed and it makes me extremely anxious.

LuckyFlash · 24/09/2020 09:33

My god @BuckleUp those kittens are cute!

@Parkandride I weirdly love telling strangers haha. I had a facial the other day and let the beautician know and we chatted about it for ages it was lovely. I’ve only told immediate family and a couple of very close friends so far outside of that.

I have my 12 week scan next Tuesday too. I’m excited to see the baby again but terrified of having blood taken. It’s a huge phobia of mine despite never actually having had a blood test (probably where the fear has built up from). I’ve heard it’s easier to take blood when you’re pregnant as your veins are more prominent. Anyone who has had theirs done already - how was it? I’m considering getting some numbing cream

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 24/09/2020 09:39

@LuckyFlash I had blood tests done at my booking in appointment - they were fine. At most if feels like a very slight scratch as the needle goes in. I tend to look away as they do it though.

BuckleUp · 24/09/2020 10:17

@AprilShowers2021 Don't worry, DH is sorting their litter tray out for me. Maybe you should talk through your worries about the phone appointments with your midwife?

@Parkandride I also love telling strangers I'm pregnant. I just have to be careful not to tell someone who might know me through a friend 😂. I live in a very small town!

@LuckyFlash Thank you, they seem to be settling in well and are helping me to be very productive wfh! My bloods were just a scratch. The flu vaccination hurt more lol. Drink plenty of fluids before you go and your veins should be nice and easy to access.

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 24/09/2020 11:12

Has anyone had their flu jab yet or do we have to wait til we’re past the twelve week mark?
