@AlbertCookie Glad you're feeling better and yay for your phone appointment! I can't wait for mine next week. Really looking forward to getting my scan date - did you get yours over the phone?

@Msl1980s I think mine took 2 weeks! It's crazy how behind many trusts are - the COVID baby boom is real (even on mainland Europe apparently)! Hope you hear back soon.

@newgirl14 Wowee! Hope you hear soon 🙈

@LuckyFlash Ahhh, congratulations! What a beautiful photo 😍 You must be so relieved.

@MamaLulu1986 My cramps have never stopped haha. But they've been more dull these past 2 days. I'm trying to change my mindset to - at least something is happening because I don't have many other symptoms (except for extreme first, hating food/hot drinks, and bloating).

BuckleUp · 16/09/2020 08:27

@MamaLulu1986 Definitely! So far the private scan matched the predicted NHS date (which were both a day earlier than my app predicted). We'll see what happens at the 12 week..

@KeepSmiling89 I don't blame you for waiting until the 12 week. The only reason I got a private one was so DH could join me. It's our first and I wanted to share the experience with him. You'll be able to see loads more by waiting a little longer too 😊

@LeopardLover I've come to the same conclusion as you regarding the harmony test. I've opted for all the screening recommended by the NHS and will follow their advice if they decide I'm high risk. There's so much to think about isn't there?!

I've finally built up the courage to join the Facebook group. Not sure how many of you are already there, but feel free to say hi! It's hard to match usernames with Facebook names! My surname is in my Mumsnet username so I'm pretty easy to find 😂

LeopardLover · 16/09/2020 08:38

@BuckleUp This is what I'll be doing. 💕 Honestly, SOOO much to think about haha! I have Facebook chat FOMO but I'll be over there next month some time 😉

SALICE42 · 16/09/2020 08:50

Hi All,

I am due around 10th April and have been a nervous wreck since I had the BFP. I am currently 10 weeks + 5.

I have had a total of three early scans (yes three!)
One at 6weeks as I had total loss of symptoms and some light bleeding. This was done on the NHS and which showed a viable pregnancy with a heart rate of ~150bpm (seems fast!). Another at just over 7 weeks. Heart rate of 170bpm and then another at 9weeks and heart rate of 174bpm. Shows normal growth and everything seemed to be OK according to the sonographers. The last two I paid for privately.

Since my last scan, ive continued to have atotal loss of symptoms. Not weeing frequently (although never did), breasts don't hurt, no pains, no nausea or vomiting (only mild before). Can't help but think of a missed miscarriage situation. Which is what happened to me previously but i never knew for 4 weeks :(

My "first" NHS scan is in three weeks. Although doesnt sound long, seems an eternity away...and i'm even considering get another scan done.
What has happened to me? Never have i ever suffered with anxiety!!
Or maybe I am just hyping it all up and should be thankful I am one of the lucky ones re:mild symptoms?

REASSURANCE NEEDED, I AM GOING INSANE.

LeopardLover · 16/09/2020 09:00

@SALICE42 Ahhh, I can understand why you'd feel this way! I don't have the traditional symptoms either and we're always led to believe nausea and sore boobs = good so it can freak the rest of us out. I had those for about a week and they stopped in week 6. MMC is a terrifying thought - and I'm generally not an anxious person either.

LeopardLover · 16/09/2020 09:02

@SALICE42 I hit send too early. I guess this is just me saying I understand and we've got this!

BuckleUp · 16/09/2020 09:12

@SALICE42 I totally understand the worry, but I'd be careful about getting too many unnecessary scans with no medical reason. There's limited research regarding the impact of multiple ultrasounds, especially in the first trimester, but the NHS advices against it ( www.nhs.uk/news/pregnancy-and-child/warning-over-souvenir-baby-scans/ ). If your midwife is concerned she will know when a scan is the best option.

Try to focus on addressing your anxiety issues (too much stress isn't good for you or the baby), and be thankful that you're lucky to not spend the first trimester too poorly to leave your bed. I'm saying this with your best interests at heart 😊. I'm sure your 12 week scan with give you the reassurance you want. Wishing you a happy, healthy pregnancy x

SALICE42 · 16/09/2020 10:49

@LeopardLover - thank you for your reply. Glad to hear there is someone else who has had minimal symptoms as all I seem to hear or read is by this week, you should be experiencing x and y - and I'm not. I find myself praying for symptoms as I feel this would confirm all is going in the right direction. I'm sure for those really suffering would truly want the opposite.

@BuckleUp - I told my midwife (has first booking appt last week) about how I was feeling and lack of symptoms and she said if 3 weeks was too long to wait for the scan, then book another privately!

LeopardLover · 16/09/2020 10:56

@SALICE42 This is absolutely me. Praying for symptoms! 🙈 At my 8 week scan the sonographer asked if I'd been feeling sick and I was like, no, not really... I just feel off. She said I was a lucky girl. 😅 We should be grateful but it's stressful!

@BuckleUp That's an interesting read, thanks! I must admit I can't 100% confirm I won't sneak in an ultrasound before now and my scan - depending if it's 12 weeks or 14. But it's food for thought and you're right, best to trust the midwife - if she thinks it's okay, then I'd be happy with that.

BuckleUp · 16/09/2020 11:32

@SALICE42 I'm glad you talked to your midwife about it. It must be hard after already having had a MMC. I really hope this pregnancy is everything you want it to be 😊

@LeopardLover I thought it was interesting too. It must be really hard to know if everything is progressing when you have no symptoms. Personally I'm just jealous of anyone without nausea 😅. I've had it relatively easy compared to some people on here but I still find myself wishing away the time until I feel better!

LeopardLover · 16/09/2020 11:41

@BuckleUp I say that but I'm getting pains in my breasts this morning, and shortness of breath so I'm far from normal. 🙈 I'm just desperate to feel normal enough to exercise! I'm just chilling all the time (and miss loving food). I wouldn't mind one day of nausea and then back to normal 😅 I can't imagine how tough it is for you and the others! We'll all be second trimester soon enough.

newgirl14 · 16/09/2020 11:47

It's such a mind game isn't it! I've had days I can't get out if bed or stand up straight I feel so sick wishing it would just go away...but then others like today I'm feeling good and the negative thoughts and wishing to be sick again creep back in! My body can't win!

NMS90 · 16/09/2020 11:53

Hi ladies I hope it's ok to join you.

I am 8+6 based on LMP but fairly sure I ovulated late as I know for sure the night we conceived so my app puts me at 7+5 based on that which is what I'm going off. Based on this my due date is 30 April 2021 I think.

This is my first baby and first pregnancy and I've been a bundle of nerves, I just so want everything to be ok! I can totally sympathise with those of you wishing for symptoms as that's what I was like for the first couple of weeks, although from week 6 onwards I have pretty much felt sick constantly, my boobs are bigger (usually tiny!) and very sore and I actually have a bit of a bump already but presuming that is bloating rather than baby!

I have my first (private) scan on Sunday and then my telephone booking appointment with my midwife next Tuesday. Then only another couple of weeks to wait until my 12 week scan (which will actually be at 10+6 based on my dates so might say something to the midwife at my booking appointment).

I've been a bit frightened to look at these boards because I'm such a bundle of nerves but I've spent the last couple of days reading through this one and it's so lovely to see you all saying the things I've been feeling!

Fingers crossed for happy healthy babies for all of us ❤️

AlbertCookie · 16/09/2020 16:30

@LeopardLover ... sorry you asked if my scan appt was done over the phone, no I actually got mine booked in when I went into the Early Pregnancy Unit at about 6 weeks, as they had to check me to make sure it wasn't another ectopic so it really does feel like I've been waiting forever!

Oh and spoke too soon about feeling a bit better.....sick again last night (baby did NOT want pasta for tea) and again this morning.

Lynz2020 · 16/09/2020 16:39

I wish I had the throwing up. Instead I'm just eating every time I feel sick as its the only way to stop feeling sick. I don't want to be a house end but eating is the only thing that helps.

BuckleUp · 16/09/2020 16:43

@Lynz2020 I'm with you. Eating is the only thing that makes the nausea go away. My mum keeps getting excited that I might be showing already and then I have to tell her it's a food baby/bloating 😂

BuckleUp · 16/09/2020 16:44

@Lynz2020 Although.. I'm definitely not wishing to be throwing up 😱 Just a lack of nausea fullstop would be nice!

Lynz2020 · 16/09/2020 16:49

@BuckleUp haha oh I'm in full bloated mode, barely fit into my work pants. I keep thinking work must think I've gained timber since lock down or they know I'm hiding something and I'm only into my 9th week. I'm trying to eat healthy each time but it's literally every 2 hours.

AprilShowers2021 · 16/09/2020 17:06

@lynz2020 and @bucklers we have the exact same symptoms. Im currently trying sickness bands on both wrists. I'll let you know if they're any good.

Also I had my booking in appointment it took two and a half hours! I had a midwife and a student midwife, both very thorough.

I didn't realise that they'd be taking blood, as no one told me. They did however apologised for the lack of info when offering my appointment.

Just a warning to any other ladies who don't know much about what to expect, make sure you drink lots of fluid if you can.

Where I've been struggling to eat and drink it was a disaster. They tried both my arms, back of hands etc. It was only after I forced water down myself at the end of the two and half hour appointment that they finally managed to get my blood. I sat there with a sick bowl the whole time.

I've been told that my 16 week appointment will be over the telephone and I'm waiting for them to contact me and offer a 12 week scan.

The good news is that partners are now allowed to attend scans 😀, which is wonderful news.

LeopardLover · 16/09/2020 19:03

@newgirl14 It's such a tricky one!! 🙈 Just keen to fast forward the next few weeks.

@NMS90 Aw, welcome! I'm also a FTM, and 8+6 based on LMP although my private scan strangely put me a few days ahead - as I too was expecting to be a little behind. I also have my booking appointment on Tuesday. 😊 You must be so excited for Sunday - it will be such a huge reassurance for you.

@AlbertCookie Oh gosh, that is a long old wait! Sorry the sickness has come back 🙈 hopefully not too long until it eases!

@AprilShowers2021 I think it's so interesting how some trusts are doing it face to face and others via telephone. I'd much rather have mine in person (but that is a long appointment!). It's good you're allowed to have your partner at your 12 week scan!

KeepSmiling89 · 17/09/2020 11:34

12 days till 12 week scan now! Nausea seems to have subsided as that's been 3 days feeling generally fine.
Broke down in tears speaking to the midwife yesterday as I was overwhelmed with negative thoughts that there might be a MMC at the scan. No medical reason to put me forward for an earlier scan though so hanging in there for now.
Don't seem to have sore boobs or anything (although DH said they looked bigger last night).
Anyone else experiencing something similar to me?

SazCat · 17/09/2020 11:38

I had my booking in appt yesterday over the phone, am 9 weeks today. Got to pop in next week for blood test, blood pressure check and weight.

Will then get my 12 week scan letter through the post. No partners allowed at my hospital yet Sad

I can't seem to get excited after my early loss at 5 weeks in July, and the lack of symptoms this time. Have got quite sore boobs and felt nausea on a couple of days. Contemplating an early scan but keep thinking it's only a few weeks til I'm 12 weeks and I know my DH would rather save the money.

So nerve-racking, I didn't feel any anxiety with my DD I was so relaxed last time!

LeopardLover · 17/09/2020 20:12

@SazCat I'm 9 weeks too! It's so annoying there's such a wait for the scan date. Also - still no partner's allowed!? 😔 I think it's unfair everywhere is doing it differently (although makes sense if you live in an area that's been locked down I guess). I haven't had crazy symptoms either, although I've now started to get nausea around 4pm but that's new. Not long until your scan 🙏🏻

@KeepSmiling89 You're doing so well - it's natural to be anxious. My boobs aren't sure as such (although I've had to size up). Nausea does come and go! I haven't really had much from week 6 until the past couple of days. Hang in there! X

BuckleUp · 18/09/2020 09:06

@LeopardLover How's your nausea today? Still hitting in the evenings? Mine seems worse late evenings now too, but seems to be gradually improving the rest of the day 🤞🏻. I'm definitely with you in wanting to exercise again, I get so out of puff just walking my usual trail running routes 😂

@newgirl14 How are you feeling today?

@NMS90 Welcome to the group! Your symptoms sound very normal from what I've experienced and read in here! Congratulations on your first, this is my first too. It's hard when you have nothing to compare it to isn't it?

@AlbertCookie Sorry you're still feeling poorly. Any signs of improvement yet? We're nearing that magical 2nd trimester when everything's meant to get better lol. I hope they aren't lying!

@Lynz2020 The bloating is real! I keep thinking I look 16 weeks pregnant but it's all in the wrong place so it's definitely bloat! Thank goodness for wfh 😂

@AprilShowers2021 Ooo, I haven't heard of trying sickness bands. Let me know if they help - I wish I'd thought to try them a few weeks ago! Sorry to hear your booking in appointment was so long.. At least the managed to get bloods from you eventually. Mine was around 7 weeks so the nausea hadn't fully set in by then luckily. Wearing a mask makes it worse though. That's wonderful news that your DP can attend the scans in your area. I think mine is 20 week scan and delivery only, but I'll call to check a few days before.

@KeepSmiling89 You're doing well and you've definitely got this. My daytime nausea is finally reducing but it's worse in the evenings now and my boobs are still on fire. I haven't gone up a size though, they just look rounder 🤷🏼‍♀️

BuckleUp · 18/09/2020 09:14

Posted too soon!

@SazCat Sorry to hear about your loss earlier this year. It's not long until your 12 week scan now and you'll hopefully get the reassurance you want then. I'm not allowed my DH at my scan either which is why we booked a private scan at 10 weeks. Completely understand why you might not want to do that though.

Anyone else made the mistake of looking on the September delivery thread?! 😂
