@KeepSmiling89 Mine is in 2 weeks too 😆. Scan buddies! I think it's normal to feel anxious, you don't really know what's happening until you reach the stage of scans/appointments. This is my first and I have nothing to compare it to so keep overanalysing everything. Try not to stress yourself out though 😊

LeopardLover · 15/09/2020 10:08

@BuckleUp It was interesting to hear how her early cravings lined up with mine 😅

@KeepSmiling89 Your midwife definitely knows best and you've absolutely got this 💪🏻 It's totally natural to feel anxious. Every day you're a little closer!

@newgirl14 Welcome to the group! 💜 Bet you can't wait for Saturday, it'll definitely put you at ease.

@MamaLulu1986 Omgosh, what a lovely photo 😍 you must be so excited. You've reminded me to buy more ice lollies because I'm running low 😅

Is anyone thinking of getting the Harmony test? I’m old (late 30s) and wondering when to do it so we can start telling people.

Currently 9 weeks, and you can get it from 10.

LeopardLover · 15/09/2020 12:33

@GreySkyClouds I'm considering! I got a quote from our local private hospital (£530) and they provisionally booked me in on a random date 🙈 I think I'll try to sort it before my booking appointment!

Quail15 · 15/09/2020 12:41

@GreySkyClouds I'm getting one. I've had 3 MC this year and want to know asap if there is a problem. The Harmony test can also tell the sex from 10 weeks and my husband really wants to know this time.

My local clinic have the NIPT test/screening (Harmony) at a reduced price at the moment so I've requested to book it as soon as I am 10 weeks.

Hi all, I'm over on the other due April 21 thread too....but just caught up reading this one.
I'm due around the 18th April.
Have suffered from terrible sickness/nausea and did go in for IV fluids a couple of weeks ago. But since then, touch wood, I've been much better.
Had booking appointment with midwife yesterday - over the phone, and got to go in next week for bloods etc.
She's also done the referral to consultant as I'm high risk due to having a premature baby previously so will be under their care going forward!
12 week scan is booked for 2nd October! I wish it would come quicker!

GreySkyClouds · 15/09/2020 14:00

@LeopardLover have you had a look at other places? I’ve seen £400 in central London

@Quail15 yeah, it feels like doing it at 10 weeks is a good idea if it takes 7-10 days for the results, then that mean that if everything is okay at the 12 week scan we can tell people. The other part of me feel like I should wait for the 12 week to re-confirm that things Are viable first before spending so much money.

Still waiting for my booking appointment. Thought it was be easier for the, to sort out as it’s a call but apparently not!

GreySkyClouds · 15/09/2020 14:01

Apologies for typos!

Msl1980s · 15/09/2020 14:16

Hi all, I'm due in April! Am currently 8 weeks 4 days after one round of ivf. Been trying for 6 years and had a miscarriage last year at 11 weeks so still very nervous nervous.
How long did everyone wait for your first midwife appointment??
I filled in a self referral form 2 weeks ago to East Surrey hospital but heard nothing since.
I know last year I had to have blood tests every week from week 6 as had high ferritin levels but I know with covid now everything is a bit slow. Thank you

newgirl14 · 15/09/2020 15:47

Hi @Msl1980s my GP referred me at 7 weeks but I'm 9 weeks and haven't heard yet. I called the hospital just to make sure they had received it and they had. Asked me the day of my last period I said 10th July....her reply was that they are still on April!!! 😱

Msl1980s · 15/09/2020 17:29

@newgirl14 oh blimey! I'm going to be a high risk pregnancy as have a very short cervix so really do want to get seen ASAP, and am already having to sort out my own appointments to see a specialist in London for that. Just seem to be doing everything myself at the mo!

LuckyFlash · 15/09/2020 18:06

I had my scan at the EPU today after a little spotting and cramping and got to see a happy, very wriggly little bubba - complete with halo lol (definitely not an angel with all the nausea it’s causing me!)
@KeepSmiling89 if you are still worried I don’t think it would hurt to contact your midwife again as mine was very quick to refer me for a scan despite my spotting and cramping being very mild and short lived. You’ve definitely got this if you wait till 12 weeks though! 💪

Can someone explain the reasoning for paying for a harmony test? What’s the difference between that and the blood test you get with the NHS at 12 weeks?

newgirl14 · 15/09/2020 18:30

@LuckyFlash aww amazing Smilebet you're on cloud 9! How many weeks are you?

LuckyFlash · 15/09/2020 18:39

@newgirl14 yeah it was amazing! According to the measurements I’m 9w5d. I was amazing at how much there was to see and what was going on in there

Great scan photo!

I found this article on the difference between the nhs and harmony test helpful: www.baby-magazine.co.uk/harmony-test/

MamaLulu1986 · 15/09/2020 21:12

@BuckleUp yes very exciting, am I right in thinking we have similar/same due date? It looks like I'm the 12th April???

MamaLulu1986 · 15/09/2020 21:15

@LeopardLover thank you, it was a lot more clear than what I was expecting, at this stage in my first pregnancy with my daughter it was really fuzzy and couldn't see much!
How's the cramps? Are they easing at all??? I'm still getting mine 😫

MamaLulu1986 · 15/09/2020 21:16

@LuckyFlash that is such a lovely pic! And I love the halo 😇 cute!

pandabear437 · 15/09/2020 21:24

I’m deffo getting the harmony because we lost our last baby due to chromosomal abnormalities. Because of our experience my local hospital fetal medicine unit offers us the harmony for £300.

It can be done from 10 weeks, but better if you wait until 11 weeks to ensure there is enough fetal DNA in your bloodstream.

I’m hoping to get ours done 5th October, same day as our 12 week scan.

Unless you have specific concerns of experience, I’d say the standard NHS screening bloods are sufficient, but of course it’s up to each of you to choose what you need for reassurance. It’s a lot of money though 🤑

BuckleUp · 15/09/2020 21:39

@MamaLulu1986 Yeah, same due date - though the private scan has put me a day earlier that I calculated with an EDD of 11/04/2020. I'm sure that could change again in a fortnight!

MamaLulu1986 · 15/09/2020 22:30

@BuckleUp yes I have my NHS scan two weeks on Thursday so will be interesting to see how they date us compared with the private ones? 🧐

KeepSmiling89 · 15/09/2020 22:55

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I'm going to wait for the 12 week scan. Early scan would be lovely but, to be honest, there doesn't seem to be a medical need for it just now and it won't change what will be seen at the 12 week scan.
We do have money for a private one but I'm going to trust the midwife, let nature take its course and what will happen will happen. Mother Nature is frustrating sometimes...amazing but frustrating!

Lovely to see everyone's scan pictures though. Makes me feel even more excited for when DH and I get to see ours for the first time 😀

This is good to know. Thank you!

I already have little faith as I’m week 9+3 days and I’ve heard nothing about my 10 week booking call despite following up.

LeopardLover · 16/09/2020 07:25

@GreySkyClouds @pandabear437 After spending hours on the Antenatal tests board, I'm now leaning towards not getting the Harmony (this early) as I have no real reason to do so (no previous history / under 35). I think I'll just take the combined test for now. I understand why women want to take it if they have a reason / want reassurance. My concern would be a false positive and then dealing with that for a longer period than necessary. It took me last night to come to that conclusion but I appreciate all the info and links!

@KeepSmiling89 Hoping time goes quickly for you! ❤️ It's great you've got peace now, you'll probably be much less stressed and you'll get to see baby very soon. 🥰
