Joining late - hope that's OK. Due mid/late April. Morning sickness and nausea not great. Have been using sickness bands which have been helping.

Funkypolar · 13/09/2020 14:14

How are we all doing today? My HG is still bad but up, washed and dressed in a maxi dress and sucking on a fruit pastil lolly!

I had my booking in appointment on the phone yesterday and I’m to go to hospital in a couple of weeks for bloods. My 16 week appointment is booked in (face to face!) and 12 week scan is tbc.

Lynz2020 · 13/09/2020 14:48

I'm so tired atm, feel sick as soon as I'm hungry and it gets worse until I eat, have dull belly pains every day from the afternoon until I go to bed, boobs gets really sore in the afternoon for some reason. Anyone else having these? Need the 12 week mark to get here already.

AprilShowers2021 · 13/09/2020 14:58

@Lynz2020 sorry to hear you and so many other are suffering with sickness and nausea 💐.

For me it's constant nausea from the minute I open my eyes, until I go to sleep. It's relentless and it's starting to really drag me down. I'm so grateful to be 9+5 pregnant with my first child, but man it's tough!

I hardly eat and when I do it's only ever cheese or wholemeal bagels. I did manage an advocado the other day, but sadly that chose to exit my stomach about one hour after eating 🤢.

Strangely, I struggle the most just to drink water. I used to drink 2 litres a day, but since becoming pregnant I can barely stomach 600 - 800ml a day. It's really worrying, but it makes me feel sick.

Does anyone have any tips for getting more fluids?

KeepSmiling89 · 13/09/2020 15:01

@Lynz2020 I feel you! Tired ALL THE TIME and feel sick until I eat something. Will be 11 weeks on Thursday next week and 12 week scan isn't till 29th September. Gonna be a LONG 2 weeks to wait.

After a wee bit of advice...got a bit of light spotting this morning...very pale red-brownish colour. I know this is normal in pregnancy but I am VERY anxious and jumping to worst case scenarios as a family member recently had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. No pain out of the ordinary though...any positive stories?

BuckleUp · 13/09/2020 15:04

@LeopardLover That 12 week scan will be here before you know it. At least you have your booking in appointment to break it up. Thanks for the link, it made for an interesting read 😊

@SkyeBarn It's so good that the bond helped you feel closer to it. Seeing that heart beat is so cool! It makes you realise why you feel so off despite looking the same - so much happens in these first weeks!

@Beapo Welcome! Sorry you've had such a hard time with HG.. that's my worst nightmare so I really feel for you. Hopefully it'll reduce over the next few weeks 🤞🏻

@Catzby Welcome to the group 😊. I'm glad the sickness bands are helping you a bit. You got any appointments booked in yet?

@Funkypolar Well done! Sounds like a productive morning. Even showering and getting dressed feels like an achievement some days.. It's exciting that your 16 week appointment is already scheduled, apparently that might be when you first hear baby's heartbeat!

@Lynz2020 You're describing my symptoms exactly.. It's awful but hang in there, the 2nd trimester will hopefully bring some normality back before we hit the aching third trimester!

Lynz2020 · 13/09/2020 15:07

I'm alright when I'm lying down but as soon as I sit upright I feel so sick. I really need to be doing the snacks every couple of hours but I forget them is 4-5 hrs since I ate and the wave of nausea is crazy, takes me ages to eat anything now as i just feel like I'm going to be sick but never am. It's probably all good signs to have these things but my god lol. I had my 8 week scan last Sunday so I'll be into my 9 weeks now, still no 12 week scan letter.

BuckleUp · 13/09/2020 15:09

@AprilShowers2021 Your symptoms sound oh so familiar. I'm also struggling to drink enough and I'm worried about the effect on baby. I've taken to eating soup and jelly (not together!). Ice pops are good too. Basically any foods high in liquid.

@KeepSmiling89 I haven't had any experience with spotting but from what I've read in here small amounts of pale brown discharge are really common and nothing to worry about unless the amount increases, becomes redder with clots or is accompanied by abdominal pains. If you're still worried maybe your midwife can arrange a call to discuss?

KeepSmiling89 · 13/09/2020 15:11

@BuckleUp thanks. I'm going to give my midwife a call tomorrow. Its already been about 4 weeks since my booking appointment so it's been a very long wait already. Just very anxious!

AprilShowers2021 · 13/09/2020 15:28

@BuckleUp - Jelly is a good shout thanks, I hadn't thought of that. The good news is we're getting into soup season, so I'll try and make some nice soups and see if that helps. It really is a worrying time, I just don't know if this poor baby is getting enough nutrition from me. I'll see what my modwife says too at my booking in appointment on Tuesday.

@KeepSmiling89 - I had spotting very early on quite a few times and all turned out fine. I ended up paying for a private scan at 7 weeks, 5 days and saw everything was normal. I even saw a flickering heartbeat 💓 and it was lovely that my husband was there too. Hopefully it's nothing serious and just typical pregnsncy spotting.

I've yet to receive notification of my 12 weeks scan, perhaps they will tell me when it will be at my booking in appointment next week, when I will be exactly 10 weeks.

LuckyFlash · 13/09/2020 15:57

@KeepSmiling89 I’m having something similar to you. Was delighted yesterday because I felt a bit less nauseous than normal and had a good day symptoms wise. Went to the loo before bed and there was red on the tissue when I wiped (not period-like but definitely red). This morning it was gone although I had a one off funny cramp across the whole of my tummy. Been fine the rest of the day apart from a tiny brown spot in my knickers just now (nothing when I wiped). Unsure whether to call the midwife or whether they will think I’m being a hypochondriac...! A bit worried that my symptoms have eased a bit though - never thought I’d say that. I’m 10w2d

BuckleUp · 13/09/2020 17:28

@KeepSmiling89 The wait for everything to start moving seems to take forever! Hopefully your midwife will be able to reassure you 🤞🏻

@AprilShowers2021 Glad I could help with some extra ideas 🙂. I wouldn't worry too much about what baby is getting. A lot of the stuff I read says baby will take what it needs from you, even at your expense! Think of it this way, even women who suffer from HG and spend most of the first pregnancy in hospital because they can't eat or drink go on to have healthy babies. Do what you can to stay healthy but otherwise try not to worry x

KeepSmiling89 · 13/09/2020 18:23

@LuckyFlash its just so confusing as we're told light spotting is normal in pregnancy but then they also say it could be a sign of something serious and to contact your GP or midwife if you have any bleeding. No wonder us first time mums are on high alert all the time. All the 'advice' makes us hypochondriacs!

LuckyFlash · 13/09/2020 19:10

@KeepSmiling89 definitely! DH came home and forced me to call the midwife hotline. She was super nice and reassured me it’s likely all fine but she referred me to the EPU for a scan to put my mind at rest as my 12 week isn’t for another 2 weeks

LeopardLover · 13/09/2020 22:27

@Catzby Welcome and congratulations! 😊

@Funkypolar Sorry you haven't been feeling great! I'm living in dresses atm because I can't bear anything tight near my tummy. I bought ice lollies tonight - game changer for the hunger pangs! Were your scans booked over the phone or did they come separately?

@Lynz2020 I have cramps every day and I'm constantly hungry!

@AprilShowers2021 Sorry to hear you're struggling with fluids, ice lollies are a great suggestion!

@BuckleUp We had a call with my pregnant SIL earlier and it was so exciting! Can't wait to tell them. 😊

@KeepSmiling89 It's likely nothing to worry about (from what I've read it's very common) but I'd totally contact your midwife for peace of mind. ❤️

@LuckyFlash Glad you've been referred to the EPU so you can get that reassurance everything is okay and don't need to wait!

Rotagilla · 14/09/2020 09:33

@LeopardLover hello! I'm all good! Sorry I just find the Facebook group easier to keep up with!
I'm struggling with sickness at the moment 😩
Struggling to eat much at all....
Have a private scan booked on Saturday and can't wait.
How are you?
How are you feeling? xx

LeopardLover · 14/09/2020 12:07

@Rotagilla Oh no problem! I don't think I'll join the group for a few months because I work in digital and my personal FB account is linked to client accounts - I'm constantly logged in at work so I'm super anxious my groups will pop up! 😅

Sorry you're struggling with food at the moment 😔 Are you getting plenty of liquids? Ahhh amazing! I had my 8 week scan on Saturday which was lovely. ❤️ Feeling okay, I just get bloated, have bad cramps, don't like food anymore and feel off haha. But I got off easy with the nausea! X

BuckleUp · 14/09/2020 12:13

@LeopardLover That is exciting! Not long until you can share your news with her and compare experiences 😊

@Rotagilla It's good to hear from you 🙂. Sorry you've been feeling so poorly. You just reminded me to request joining the Facebook group! How far along are you now?

@Tiff94 Just a heads up that I've submitted a request to join the Facebook group. I left my username as ID 😊

Catzby · 14/09/2020 13:47

I had this last week - some spotting and cramps over a couple of days. Had the scan on Friday - really reassuraning, but best to be safe I guess

KeepSmiling89 · 14/09/2020 15:46

Thanks everyone. Spotting had stopped by yesterday afternoon and there was no pain so I'm not worried as much anymore. Still spoke to my midwife today and she reassured me saying it's more than likely nothing to worry about.
I think my anxiety was up as a family member had a miscarriage recently at 10 weeks. Midwife told me that there's no way of knowing what's going on until the scan so just gotta play the waiting game for 15 more days! I can do this!

newgirl14 · 14/09/2020 15:58

Hi all can I join? Late to the party at 9weeks 3 days. Got a private scan this Saturday and petrified after a missed miscarriage last year at my 12 week scan.

Anyone else South Birmingham area and haven't heard anything from hospital yet about scan or booking in appt? I called and they said they had a huge backlog which is understandable in these times but also worrying may not get seen before 12 weeks!

Hello to all the newbies and congratulations! What an exciting journey we're all on together.... for those of you that have had bad cramping like myself, this might reassure you a little... had a scan today and all is well, 10 weeks today and a strong little heartbeat 💓

God the tiredness and nausea is REAL! 😂 good shout on the ice lollies and jelly! I'm going to stock up tomorrow!!!

Hope everyone is well!

@KeepSmiling89 Glad your midwife was able to reassure you. Not long until your 12 week scan now. You can do this 😊

@newgirl14 Welcome to the group and congratulations. It must be nerve wracking after a mmc and I'm sorry you had to go through that. Hopefully your private scan will give you the reassurance you need. I'm not based in your area but it does seem like a few people on here are having issues getting their first appointments booked in.

@MamaLulu1986 What a gorgeous clear image! That's so exciting and definitely helps knowing you've had cramping all the way through too. The ice lollies are a life saver!

KeepSmiling89 · 15/09/2020 09:13

14 days! Officially 2 weeks until first scan! Still super anxious though. No nausea today but cramping and mild pins and needles like feeling on right side of abdomen. Anyone else experience this? I'll be 11 weeks on Thursday.

I posted something else last night on a new thread as I seem to be paranoid that something bad is going to happen like a MMC. For done reason I just can't think positive!
