@LeopardLover @BuckleUp how exciting you have your scans on Saturday!!! Can't wait to hear all about it!

I have one booked for Monday.... excited and scared... I'm still having pains that really unsettle me 😫

Also, has anyone else been told that they have very low blood pressure? I had my midwife appointment this week and she said it was really low????

pandabear437 · 10/09/2020 21:17

Got my 12 week scan booked for 12th October. Also referred to fetal medicine as we lost a baby earlier this year due to chromosomal abnormalities. We’re therefore definitely getting the harmony done, the specialist midwife is going to ask the scanning team if they can bring my scan forward a week so I don’t have to wait ☺️ Then they can do the harmony test on the same day.

Away on holiday at the mo in Cornwall. Trying to ignore all the waiting and just enjoy ourselves !

BuckleUp · 10/09/2020 22:28

@LeopardLover A girl! I wonder if your gut feeling is right?! Do you have any preferences outside of a happy healthy baby? I think I'm secretly wanting a girl because it'll be my mums first granddaughter (my sister has 2 boys), but I know I'll be content as long as baby is healthy. I'm looking forward to exercising more soon too. I'm trying to transfer my half marathon entry to my stepdad as I just can't do that distance at the moment..

@Richmonder That's so exciting! I thought about the harmony test but I think I'm fairly low risk and it costs a lot to get it private here. Is your next appointment at 12 weeks? How much could you see at this scan? I'm expecting a blob on Saturday lol.

@MamaLulu1986 I'm pretty excited and nervous all at once. It'll be nice to experience it with DH. How far along will you be at yours on Monday? I have fairly average blood pressure I think. I suspect your midwife would recommend something if it was dangerously low.

@pandabear437 So glad you've got your scan booked in. Sorry to hear of your previous loss 💐. Will the harmony test be done via the NHS because of your background? Enjoy your holiday, Cornwall is gorgeous 😊

pandabear437 · 10/09/2020 22:33

@BuckleUp thanks 🥰 unfortunately not free - they were going to include it in NICE guidelines for some people to get NIPT for free e.g if you had previous experience, or if intial bloods showed increased risk - but that was a year or so ago and they’ve not got round to doing it!

However, because of my history I can go via my NHS fetal Medicine service at get it for £300 though, whereas most private places seem to be £450-£500 so that’s something at least...

BuckleUp · 10/09/2020 22:38

@pandabear437 That's unfortunate, I thought it would be something they offered if there was good reason. I suppose it's good that it's a bit less than private and well worth the piece of mind. I think it should definitely be added to the NICE guidelines though. I hope it all goes well for you x

Parkandride · 11/09/2020 06:27

I was so surprised it's not on the NHS yet, I thought they agreed it years ago! I remember that programme Sally Phillips did about it, she has a son who has downs syndrome so was arguing against it been on the NHS- that was 2016!

Very exciting for those having scans in the next few days, they might be blobs but the heartbeat is beautiful!

Had my phone booking in with the midwife yesterday, she was lovely so it felt exciting. I get a consultant appointment after 12 weeks as its ivf, not too sure what will happens there

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 11/09/2020 09:13

Morning Ladies.

@MamaLulu1986 I had my booking in appointment yesterday and the midwife said my BP was really low. She said drinking more fluid might help but apart from that it’s just something they’ll keep an eye on.
I had it in my previous pregnancy. Left me feeling light-headed at times.

MamaLulu1986 · 11/09/2020 09:33

@FoxtrotOscarPoppet yes my midwife said the same and that she'd keep an eye on it and if nothing improves in next couple of weeks then they'd give me something for it?

I didn't have it with my previous pregnancy, wondered why I felt so weak and dizzy, I thought it was due to all the mask and visor wearing as I have to wear them fit my work 🙈 maybe not 😂

MamaLulu1986 · 11/09/2020 09:34

@BuckleUp I'll be 10 + 2 on Monday, I was at a similar stage when I had my first scan with my previous pregnancy and was surprised at how big/formed the baby was 😊

LeopardLover · 11/09/2020 10:16

@MamaLulu1986 Oh how exciting for you! You'll definitely see lots on Monday then 😁💖 I haven't had my booking appointment yet so no mention of low BP yet, hopefully it improves for you over the coming weeks!

@BuckleUp Well, who knows!! DH is the only boy of 6 kids, but his sisters have had mostly boys. Like you we'll be happy with a healthy baby of any gender, but I've always pictured having a girl first so who knows. I do wish my nausea would come back instead of this "off" feeling. But I know I'll be feeling better tomorrow. Really tragically a friend of a friend lost her baby at around 12 weeks recently. It's made me want to see our blob even more! What time is your scan? X

@pandabear437 That'll be great if they can bring the scan forward. 😊 Hope you're enjoying beautiful Cornwall! Kinda crazy NIPT isn't free for those with increased risk/history, but it's good you'll get a slightly reduced fee.

@Parkandride Glad your midwife was so lovely! I can't wait to meet mine. 😊

BuckleUp · 11/09/2020 11:03

@Parkandride Aww so pleased you got on with your midwife, that makes the whole process so much easier.

@MamaLulu1986 That's good to hear! I was worried I wouldn't be able to see much, but didn't want back to back scans at 12 weeks lol

@LeopardLover You'll definitely be feeling better after tomorrow. My scan is at 15:45, when is yours? My biggest worry is finding out at the 12 week scan that I'm having a MMC, so hoping the scan tomorrow should help alleviate that worry a little.

LeopardLover · 11/09/2020 11:33

@BuckleUp Mine is 9am 🙈 our Internet is being installed at the new house so it had to be early lol. Honestly, that would be my biggest concern too! It's crazy how it's a thing. Especially finding out alone. I wish I could fast forward to 12 weeks! X

paigeleeforever182 · 11/09/2020 21:59

Hi, ladies! I’m due April 11th, almost 10 weeks now. Had my first scan last week where we saw baby and heard a strong heart beat! I’m so grateful, but this first trimester has been sooo rough. I’m constantly throwing up, barley eating (which worries me for baby), sooo tired. Praying that it gets better with the second trimester being right around the corner!

BuckleUp · 12/09/2020 10:49

@LeopardLover How'd your scan go lovely? I hope all is well x

@paigeleeforever182 Welcome to the group! Sorry you've been having a rough time. There are a few of us holding out hope for an easier time when we hit that 12 week milestone lol. Congratulations on your scan!

LeopardLover · 12/09/2020 13:11

@paigeleeforever182 Congratulations and welcome! Sorry had a rough time of it so far - you're almost into the second trimester!

@BuckleUp It was great, thank you 😁 Measuring at 8+6 currently (not 8+2) and baby has a nice strong heartbeat! Such an awesome experience and well worth the money for the peace of mind. I was a bit nervous about the internal scan but I hardly felt a thing 😅 I think it suddenly feels real. I mentioned I haven't really had much nausea, I just feel off (and no food tastes good) and they just told me I was really lucky ha ha. I can't wait for the next one now!

Good luck with yours later today - you'll get to see even more which is so exciting! X

SkyeBarn · 12/09/2020 21:43

Apart from sore boobs and some mild cramping I've had no symptoms (counting myself lucky)! I'm currently 8+2 and got told I have a small hematoma which increases your chances of miscarriage. They didn't explain it very well and I had to go to google. Would you think they'd give me more check ups?

BuckleUp · 12/09/2020 22:36

@LeopardLover Aww so lovely!! Mine went well too, measuring dead on the NHS expected due date of 11/04/21. It's 3.14 cm (pi! 😂) and measuring 9 weeks 6 days. Good strong heart beat, but I didn't realise you couldn't hear them until after 16 weeks. I'll try posting a pic.. It'll be so good to see the progression at the 12 week scan!

@SkyeBarn definitely lucky to not have much nausea! I don't know much about hematomas but maybe you could arrange a call to discuss it in more detail?

LeopardLover · 12/09/2020 22:46

@BuckleUp Omgosh, this is such a cute photo! Ours were really bad - just a little blob 🤣 Baby looked better on screen. How exciting - I didn't know you had to wait until 16 weeks either! It's crazy how at this stage 1 week makes such a huge difference. I now have stronger cramping so I'm a slightly bit anxious but need to tell myself everything is just stretching!

@SkyeBarn Similar to me - except I don't enjoy most food anymore 😅 That's a shame it wasn't explained very well, I'd definitely speak to your local EPAU and ask for a bit of guidance? X

BuckleUp · 12/09/2020 22:53

@LeopardLover Yeah the videos are so much clearer, but MN doesn't let us post those lol. It was so wiggly! My scan was external and the cramps after the wand digging in have been intense! How was the internal?

LeopardLover · 12/09/2020 23:02

@BuckleUp Oh that's awesome you got video too!! Love that baby was moving. 😊 Ugh, I've only had an ultrasound once and I remember my stomach being really sore afterwards! Hopefully the cramps ease soon. Internal was so easy - she asked if I wanted to insert it myself which I went for originally before changing my mind 2 secs later haha. I could barely feel a thing (guess she knows her angles). Wouldn't hesitate to do it again - and no spotting afterwards!

BuckleUp · 12/09/2020 23:10

@LeopardLover Aww I'm glad it went so well for you and no side effects. Only 2/3 weeks for the next scan now 🥰

LeopardLover · 12/09/2020 23:13

@BuckleUp Thank you - likewise! 🥰 It's so awesome you don't have long to wait and you'll see baby again very soon. I can't wait for my booking in appointment to arrive! X

SkyeBarn · 12/09/2020 23:21

@BuckleUp What a cute photo. I'm only 8+2 so mine was just a blob but it's honestly the best thing seeing the fluttering heart beat, makes you love it already!

Beapo · 13/09/2020 00:10

Hey fellow April-to-be mums! I’m 8 weeks at the moment and got given a rough date of 22nd of April. I’ve had multiple scans and blood tests so far as I had an excessive amount of pain at around 5-6 weeks, but had a scan on Thursday and they said I don’t need to go back to the hospital clinic and to just continue on with my midwife, which was a massive relief! I have my first booking appointment on Wednesday so I’m looking forward to that. I’ve attached a photo of my little bean 😍 I must say I’m mega jealous of yous that have had next to no nausea or sickness, I’ve got HG so have that constantly and it’s exhausting 😩 How exciting is it though to be able to talk to other mums who are due around the same time! This is my first ever pregnancy so must admit I’m terrified of it going wrong but trying to stay as positive as possible.

LeopardLover · 13/09/2020 08:51

@Beapo Yay! How exciting for you too - what a sweet little bean. That's great news you'll be with your midwife moving forward. My NHS due date is the same as yours (but my early scan has put me a few days ahead). Sorry to hear you have HG - hopefully it eases for you! I just read this on another thread which is promising and hopefully provides a tiny bit of extra reassurance: www.verywellfamily.com/miscarriage-heartbeat-ultrasound-odds-2371536
