@krissy12 don't let one silly woman make you feel anxious. She's probably had a bad day (not that it's an excuse, she should be trained better to deal with those type of calls) but I'm sure not all the midwives in the hospital will be the same. X

WaveStreet · 24/09/2020 20:55

@krissy12 sorry to hear you're worried and glad baby is moving for you.
My midwife warned me that they are often like that on the phone, and to ring with a thick skin on and insist they see me if I am worried. Its a shame she had to pre warn me though.

krissy12 · 24/09/2020 21:01

thanks everyone. it's not the best hospital my friend nearly died having her baby there last year after a catalogue of errors and I was debating changing hospitals but when I've been up for scans they have been lovely and really helpful and I had heard some really positive stories so felt much better about it but this has just kind of set me back again

DressingGown87 · 24/09/2020 21:24

@krissy12 that’s awful. Sorry they’ve made you feel like that. They always say movement and regular pattern, so in my eyes you where well within your rights to be concerned and call. They shouldn’t have spoken to you like that at all, as that would put some people off calling in the future. I would give them a call back if your still worried, and say nobody has called you back, hopefully you will get someone else. Glad your movement has picked up though.

I'm so confused the midwife has phoned back and said that because I have felt the baby move in the past 2-3 hours they dont class that as reduced movement even know it's not as strong as normal so i dont understand why we are told to look for regular patterns.
this midwife was a lot nicer and has said to try and stay awake for the next 2 hours to monitor movement and if no movement then to phone back and theyll see me but she is happy with how things are now

LadyB90 · 24/09/2020 22:18

@krissy12
That's so irritating for you, sorry to hear they were so rude!! Yeah I've been told the same it's if the movement changes not just if it dissapears completely. So it's annoying when they say that and then when you call they make you feel stupid. If it makes you feel any better I had a day yesterday where baby's movements felt a lot less vigorous and I started to get worried and almost called up, but then overnight she definitely made up for it and was back to her normal wiggles! So hopefully the same will happen for you 🙂

Flora20 · 25/09/2020 07:44

@krissy12 How are things this morning? You got completely different advice to me, if you're still concerned at all this morning I'd just turn up at the assessment unit and say you need a check up.

Got my 36 week midwife appointment this morning, I'm soooo tired... The 8 minute walk feels like it will be a lot of effort today!

krissy12 · 25/09/2020 08:16

@Flora20 have had some movement this morning so feeling a bit better but if I dont feel things are right as the day goes on I'm going to phone up and demand to be seen. I'm going to speak to my community wife about it when I see her because its definitely not the advice she gave me either. hope your 36 week appointment goes well feeling your pain on the tiredness today really struggling to sleep on my side now feels like my hips are being crushed.

DressingGown87 · 25/09/2020 08:26

@krissy12 that’s so frustrating that they called you back with such conflicting advice, to what your midwife gave. Hope your movements are better today, but as PP said, call them back if your not happy, and bring this up with your MW at your next appointment.

@Flora20 good look at your appointment today!

All well at my appointment, baby still on best behaviour when he's being watched... Head is right down to the extent that the student couldn't find it, and as I thought he's back to back - just like my first! I now have to keep my legs crossed for a week at least 😂

Mc3209 · 25/09/2020 21:37

Ladies, I just ordered a box of body paint, as well as belly casting kit thing (to make a cast of my belly), and few paint brushes. I really want to have few photos from this pregnancy (still didn't get around to taking any proper ones, just few wonky selfies), and will attempt painting the belly 😬 I've spent too long on Pinterest clearly.

You can tell I've got my leave coming up next week! 2 working days to go..

SophieJosie95 · 25/09/2020 22:50

@Mc3209 I had a maternity shoot done. I wasn't going to fork out for it but so glad I did in the end. The photos are stunning and they're memories.

I have attempted my own photos too, just filtered them into black and white to make them look fancier than they are! Haha x

LadyB90 · 26/09/2020 06:56

@Mc3209
That sounds amazing! You'll have to post a picture on here of your tummy painting efforts!

CurlyMummy1912 · 26/09/2020 09:15

Just had a catch up on the messages. Hope you're all well and that hospital buck up their ideas! Photo shoots, bump casting and body painting! Very creative.

Anyone else a) feeling like the time is going so SLOWWWLY

and b) sick of their sex life being ruined by pregnancy?!

Xxx

SamK93 · 26/09/2020 09:48

@CurlyMummy1912 35 weeks here and it's gone so quick up until now but now it's just dragging. The kids keep asking me when the baby will be coming 😩😩 the mums at school look at me like oh she's still pregnant 🙄
I get you with the sex life it's very hard to manoeuvre the bump around 😂

Mc3209 · 26/09/2020 09:57

@CurlyMummy1912 sex life? What sex life? 😂
I've tried few times over past few weeks, but neither of us enjoyed it that much.

1990shopefulftm · 26/09/2020 10:14

Thoughts on how you get babies to stop squashing your lungs, feels like i get breathless so easily and I know it's got to be pregnancy related as it's near impossible for me to have got any kind of infection.

I m 8 days off full term and of course if they need more time then I d want them to stay put but I d like my lungs to be back to normal and to be able to see my feet again so I can get around more easily.

CurlyMummy1912 · 26/09/2020 10:27

@Mc3209 @SamK93

We did a couple of times but I can't relax properly with the bump in the way. I just like the closeness of it. I've tried initiating something a few times but he isn't interested. I can understand that they see us differently when we're pregnant especially when their baby is in there and they don't want to cause any harm. It's not a great feeling but this baby will be worth it. It's all temporary I guess.

When's are you due? I have elective booked in week 39 on 27th oct. I have a feeling I'll go into labour before that!

Flora20 · 26/09/2020 10:29

@CurlyMummy1912 Ugh, we had sex last week and I just felt so uncomfortable afterwards, not doing that again!

@1990shopefulftm I've been really breathless too, it's worst at night but I'm out of breath doing the simplest of things. Like sitting down! Not sure there's much you can do about it but I find sitting on my ball and trying to make sure I'm leaning forward with my bump hanging down helps - look at the spinning babies site to get some ideas of how to encourage baby into a better position.

roarfeckingroarr · 26/09/2020 10:38

@SophieJosie95 I had a maternity shoot too and I love the photos. Full on floaty dress meadow style.

@CurlyMummy1912 @Mc3209 @Flora20 @SamK93 what sex life. Seriously it's been three months and is a major source of angst for me. DP is so stressed with work and nervous about being a father (he's happy too but he overthinks and doesn't want to mess the baby up like his dad did), plus he can't get his head around sex when the baby is so big and just THERE... ugh. I'm fed up and no amount of "you're gorgeous, it's not you" is having any effect. I'm getting pretty resentful to be honest which is not a good start.

DressingGown87 · 26/09/2020 10:40

@Flora20 glad your appointment went well, and baby is behaving.

@Mc3209 very creative. Let us know how you get on. I have a few bump selfies, but that’s about it. Not really got any nice photos, as my life is leggings and pjs!

@CurlyMummy1912 my sex and dating life died a death back in January 😂 and don’t see it coming back for a long time. 😭 hopefully time speeds up for you.

@SamK93 bet that’s a repeat you don’t want to here off the kids... Atleast it not when is Christmas (just yet)

@1990shopefulftm I find sitting slightly back with my legs up helps move her down. It’s not really breathlessness more uncomfortable. But it’s getting tricky now, in all positions. Not too long to go.

I have 12days until my sweep and 16days until my induction... what do I need to do before then for baby? My head is all over the place! I have a list of work, housework, gardening, shopping to do. But feel like I’m forgetting something.

OP posts:
roarfeckingroarr · 26/09/2020 10:41

@Flora20 I get breathless doing the simplest tasks like moving on and off the bed. I sound like a particularly inbred French bulldog.

1990shopefulftm · 26/09/2020 10:41

@Flora20 yes it's worse at night. I have asthma so it's not that I m not used to some difficulty but it's an issue in a different place than usual in my lungs.

At my last appointment he was head down but not engaged yet so will see if hopefully he will do soon. I ll try spending more time sat on my ball from now on.

1990shopefulftm · 26/09/2020 11:43

@DressingGown87 sounds like you've got it all covered, maybe pre book a food delivery or collection so you don't have to go in the shop ?

krissy12 · 26/09/2020 12:15

agree these last weeks are draggingggg in

@DressingGown87 I would maybe start batch cooking meals that you can freeze

I'm not getting too stressed about thinking have I forget anything because there is so many 24 hour supermarkets and amazon prime so can get anything quickly. I think as long as we have car seat to get baby home couple of outfits, nappies , somewhere for baby to sleep and basic essentials for feeding then anything else can come later.
