@FirstSurprise001 How are you feeling now? Definitely give them a ring, it may well be nothing but better to check. X

FirstSurprise001 · 23/09/2020 20:21

@LadyB90 @SamK93 @1990shopefulftm @DressingGown87 @Flora20 thank you for your messages. Spent 2 hours in the hospital this afternoon, monitored the baby who decided to sleep the whole way through it so they couldn’t determine if his heartbeat was okay as it was ‘too consistent’ if there’s ever a thing 🙄 did an internal examination and the bleeding had stopped.
Just told me to keep an eye on things and if it happens again then I’ll need to go back.

It’s definitely put me on edge now though, made it very real that he could come any time!

DressingGown87 · 23/09/2020 21:29

@FirstSurprise001 glad you went in and got checked, and that the bleeding has stopped. Typical that he decided to sleep though. Just put your feet up and try rest, and see how you get on.

I know the feeling, I’ve gone through my hospital bag, work handover, birth plan, put fuel in the car, and done a food shop today! Panic mode is setting in 🙈🙈

@FirstSurprise001 @DressingGown87
Glad all is ok, what on earth does "too consistent"mean though?! I'm with you on the feeling on edge - lay there in bed in the early hours thinking about all the bits I still need to organise. In the light of day I know that the important stuff is fine, but there's definitely a few things I need to get cracking with...

My mum is moving house tomorrow, to live about 10 minutes away instead of 6 hours - need to let her isolate for a week after she moves in but then hoping she's available to look after the oldest which is cutting it fine - had a stern word with baby not to come any earlier than big sister did 😂

Mc3209 · 24/09/2020 08:16

@FirstSurprise001 Re heart rate monitoring, one of the things they are looking for on CTG (those belt things with monitor pads) is something called 'Variability', which basically means a change in baseline heart rate. You want to see a degree of variability as this shows baby is adapting their heart rate to different stimuli, ie their nervous system is working well. Sometimes when healthy babies do normal things like have a snooze, the variability can be less, and that's probably what they meant by "too consistent".

1990shopefulftm · 24/09/2020 11:26

Anyone else keep thinking they might have forgotten to buy something that they'll need? I'm going to go back through my hospital bag and check that the prep machine and steriliser work correctly this weekend but i just keep wondering if i m missing something important.

Freddie1987 · 24/09/2020 11:41

Just catching up @FirstSurprise001 sounds like a very anxious experience but glad everything is ok. Annoying about the heart rate thing but at least it was a happy, healthy baby overall. Definitely a good excuse to take it really easy now!

@1990shopefulftm I feel the same, panic bought some vest babygros the other day because I'm worried about layering and clothes/outfits not fitting! Other than that, I think it's everyday things we might easily forget like contact lenses/glasses if you wear them. It's the obvious stuff you have in your bathroom that you might forget to take spares of.

1990shopefulftm · 24/09/2020 12:11

@Freddie1987 I've packed a washbag which I've got spares of everything, I could forget my glasses but it's not the worst thing. It's so difficult to know how many babygros to have, I've got some tiny baby ones just incase but probably won't end up needing them.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 24/09/2020 13:29

I've popped a post it note on my bag of things I'd likely forget like my purse or phone charger etc.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 24/09/2020 14:17

I've just been reminded about my flu jab so have just booked in for it!

Reminding those that might not have too!

Freddie1987 · 24/09/2020 14:20

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt ahhh that's a good idea!

Yes good shout, I got my flu jab last week and didn't even feel the needle go in. Ten times better than the whooping cough one...

BS9790 · 24/09/2020 15:13

Been sent in for the second time today for fetal tachycardia.
Everything seems fine and heart rate did slow down but then ended up on monitor for over an hour as there was no accelerations in that time.
Definitely feel like it's one thing after another with this pregnancy 😂

Estimated weight is now 6lb 12oz, at 34+5 weeks 😬

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 24/09/2020 15:20

@BS9790 glad everything is okay.

Is that estimated weight within the 'normal' ranges? I measured 5lb.10oz on Mon at 34+2 but was told its not always accurate.

SamK93 · 24/09/2020 15:31

@BS9790 @Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt
I've always taken estimated weights with a pinch of salt as that's what they are really, estimated. My friend that had a baby in august was made to deliver at 38 weeks due to baby estimating over 9lbs, her baby girl came out 5lbs 3 ounces!
It was opposite with my DS he was estimated around 4lbs 12 when I was 36 weeks, yet he was then born naturally at 37+4 at 7lbs15

DressingGown87 · 24/09/2020 15:42

@Flora20 that sounds nice, that your Mum is moving closer. Hopefully baby listens and stays a bit longer. I’m the same I think the important stuff is done, and the rest well it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things.

@1990shopefulftm I’m forever thinking I’ve forgotten something, so your not the only one.

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt I’m with you on the post it notes! Taking over my life 😂 even out them around the baby’s room, so if someone needs to grab something for me, they know where is all is. I had my jab this morning, currently got a dead arm.

@BS9790 sorry to hear you’ve been in again. Hope your ok. We are nearly at the end! I was always told I’m having a small baby, she weighed 6lb 4 today at 36+3.

Had my appointment this morning with my consultant, and scan. They said her stomach is on the small side, but growth is fine. Got my official paperwork for my induction, so 18days left, unless she says otherwise. I don’t feel ready.

As for hospital bag, they told me to work on 5days, worse case scenario. 3 if I’m not induced. 2/3 starter packs of milk. And 5 baby outfits per day, and one pack of nappies. If that helps anyone.

@DressingGown87 I think my memory issues, in general, is just making me doubt myself more. Glad she's growing well, labelling babies room so people can find stuff is a great idea, I should probably show DH where I've put everything.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 24/09/2020 16:17

I'm only packing 4 outfits. I figured if I need more, OH can bring some and drop them off at the labour suite reception (if he's not allowed in).

Re weight, yes - totally unrelieable! My first was predicted at just under 10lbs and was actually 7lb12 so totally average.

I can't get over how quickly the last few weeks have gone though. I''m suddenly an emotional wreck and also, my skin has broken out so I presume I'm having some sort of hormonal surge!!

DressingGown87 · 24/09/2020 16:52

@1990shopefulftm yes might be wise to walk him through it. Don’t doubt yourself, your doing to do great.

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt I thought that at first. But my friend is having to go back to work FT straight after the birth Plus has her own DC, and I’m only allowed her as a visitor. Asked today if I can have an extra person on the list, as I don’t have a Partner who could bring me stuff, but they’ve said no. It’s going so quick isn’t it.

OP posts:
BS9790 · 24/09/2020 17:08

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt, it's 97th centile, now classed as large for gestational age.

I'm not worried about the weight, it's only an estimate I know that. However, most of the weight is coming from the length of his legs, which I was always expecting to be long. So don't imagine I'll have a dinky baby at all!!

krissy12 · 24/09/2020 19:47

hi ladies just need a rant and to see if anyone else has experienced this. today i hadnt felt baby move for a good few hours so had a drink and chocolate and lay on my side now getting some movement but not quite the same feel more like twitches rather than proper movement. midwife has always said phone up maternity assessment asap if any concerns which is what I've just done. took 15 attempts for someone to answer the phone (this is also the number you phone when in labour so this is worrying enough) to then basically be completely fobbed off. was told a movement is a movement regardless whether it feels normal or not and that a midwife will phone me back 'at some point in a while' because they have lots of other people in and are really busy.

1990shopefulftm · 24/09/2020 20:27

@krissy12 are you close enough to be able to go into triage? I wouldn't wait for them to ring you back as they should be seeing it as a priority.

krissy12 · 24/09/2020 20:32

@1990shopefulftm yeah I am but they don't see you if you've not phoned them they triage you over the phone and decide whether you need to be seen. typically I've had a bit more movement since I phoned which is good since I'm still waiting for midwife to phone back

Freddie1987 · 24/09/2020 20:35

@krissy12 that's an appalling manner from the midwife in my opinion. It's fair enough to say that they're busy but they should always encourage you to go in if you aren't happy with movements. She should have said that the movements sound good but if you're not sure in an hour or so then to still come in to be monitored. Glad that baby is moving a bit more for you though, sounds reassuring 😊

krissy12 · 24/09/2020 20:41

@Freddie1987 that's what I was more upset about her whole manner I didnt phone asking to go in I just asked for advice and just felt rushed off the phone and made to feel like an inconvenience and silly and its just worrying me now what's going to happen when I go into labour and have to contend with that

1990shopefulftm · 24/09/2020 20:42

@krissy12 sounds positive that the movement has picked up. They shouldn't point blank refuse to see someone if you had to walk in for help that's awful.
