I did read that because the stomach is on the left, there tends to be a bit more room on the right. But it is odd that they do that.

@Freddie1987 they must be horrible, mine are generally awake, and just weird or related to my past. So not necessarily anything going wrong. I had bruising around my belly button, and it’s quite painful.

Think I’m just under stress from work / life, plus a family member has committed suicide this morning, so it’s pretty rough time at the minute. Add on lockdown, and the fact I feel lonely, and that nobody is going to meet my daughter, and that I’m having to try build cots, and prepare for a baby alone. Sorry for the moan... bad day.

@1990shopefulftm I was going to post exactly the same thing yesterday! Only since Wednesday it’s like he’s found my ribs and constantly got a foot or hand in there. Anyone else gone to bend down whilst they’re there and genuinely couldn’t do it? Thought my rib was going to pop out.

@DressingGown87 I’m sorry things are so hard for you at the moment. Especially when you’re getting so close to the end and want to be surrounded by people and enjoying the moments. Sending lots of hugs xxx

1990shopefulftm · 19/09/2020 16:17

@DressingGown87 I know there's nothing particularly comforting I could say in this situation but none one would hold it against you if you needed to have someone come round for support at the moment.

@FirstSurprise001 yes, if something drops on the floor now I have to get DH's help as there's no chance I can get it.

roarfeckingroarr · 19/09/2020 17:25

@DressingGown87 I've had really intense dreams and nightmares for months. Last night I had gone into labour but then it stopped and I was waiting for the nurses when DP and I were suddenly on one of two cruise ships that kept merging and we couldn't find the place where all our clean washing was kept... then labour stopped and I wasn't actually pregnant at all so I was very sad... just bizarre

Flora20 · 19/09/2020 18:27

@DressingGown87 Sorry you're having such a shit time at the moment, be kind to yourself - and like @1990shopefulftm said, if you need someone round to help you at the moment I think you should. X

@roarfeckingroarr The cruise ship/washing storyline is interesting! I'm with you on the confusing dreams, I don't tend to remember dreams but I've had some bizarre ones recently.

Realised this morning about 2am that I'm 35 weeks and my daughter was born less than 3 weeks from this point... Feeling a bit stressed about all the stuff I'm planning to achieve before baby and getting really fed up with toddler antics. She seems to be pushing every button at the moment which is not like her at all, I'm sure it's probably linked to baby but it's really hard to deal with!

SamK93 · 19/09/2020 20:06

@DressingGown87 I hope your okay, it must be really hard and I'm sorry you have to deal with everything on your own. From what you've shared with us over the past few months you come across as a very strong person and you are going to make the best mummy to your little girl, it will all be worth it in the end.

@Flora20 I can totally relate! I'm 34 weeks and it's daunting on me that my DD was born at 36 weeks and DS at 37 weeks and I'm no where near prepared as I'd like to be! It's hard when you have other kids especially with a toddler too, but you'll get it all done it's what we're programmed to do lol!

TMI but just wondering what you've all got for the post partum bleeding? I know some women stick to their usual pads and just double up etc but from experience this time round I need to find something a lot more absorbent as I leaked through hospital bed on ward a good few times and I know the first few days it's literally like a tap that doesn't turn off. The Kotex night time pads have been recommended to me. Just wondering what your thoughts are.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 19/09/2020 20:12

I've got packs of Superdrug brand maternity pads. These seem very thick. I've also got a multipack of cheap granny pants that can be slung if ruined. I'll be getting some massive winged normal pads too for when the bleeding gets lighter

LadyB90 · 19/09/2020 20:28

@SamK93
I've been recommended the kotex ones too but I've also got some boots branded maternity pads too as I wasn't really sure what the would be best.

@DressingGown87
So sorry to hear that you are feeling rubbish and have had such a crappy day, and so sorry to hear you've lost a family member as well. Literally you've done amazingly for your little one so far and are so strong! If you can get through a high risk pregnancy in a global pandemic without any support from a partner then you can do anything !

SJR86 · 19/09/2020 20:34

Lilets ones are really good- they have wings in the normal places and also at the back for lots of coverage. They are quite thick. I got mine from amazon (not the slim ones though)

SamK93 · 19/09/2020 20:41

Thanks ladies.

@SJR86 Yes I was looking at these, is that what your talking about?

Late October Babies 2020 - Thread 5
Mc3209 · 19/09/2020 20:52

@SamK93 I've got these (3 packs of those), as I've also heard they are good.

@DressingGown87 that's quite a shit storm you are in at the moment. A very strong handhold and lots of hugs your way, lovely. You are doing a fantastic job.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 19/09/2020 20:56

From experience, the thicker and longer the better. If they feel like a nappy, they'll do the job. Get loads. Initially you'll be changing them all day long.

SJR86 · 19/09/2020 20:58

@SamK93 yup, those are the ones. I've been using them since my waters went.

DressingGown87 · 19/09/2020 23:15

Thanks everyone. I’ve been to see a friend tonight, and to check on my mum. Despite COvid / lockdown think this mornings news has made me realise I need to prioritise mental health sometimes. I’m going to leave the furniture building it’s not a priority, and hopefully someone can come help me soon. Although cardboard boxes drive me mad!

@FirstSurprise001 yes putting my socks on is a challenge, but I’ve learnt to lunge 😂

@roarfeckingroarr that sounds a weird dream, I dreamt the other nights someone was in my bed. I went and asked them to get me a drink 🙈 wishful thinking 😂

@Flora20 hopefully the button pushes eases off. Must be tough with a toddler in these last few weeks. I don’t feel ready either sense of panic is looming. 3 weeks and counting. But she could come early. I’m sure when the time comes, you will realise your more organised than you thought.

@SamK93 I’ve got some of the boots maternity pads, and some normal ones for when it eases. Don’t really know what to expect, but have put some of them others in my amazon basket just in case.

WaveStreet · 19/09/2020 23:17

@SJR86 hope you're doing ok.

I've had some rib kicking but mostly i feel pressure behind my belly button thats pretty uncomfortable after a while. I feel more on the right side too and my midwife said he was sitting that side when i saw her last.

Was planning on buying lilets pads as heard they are good ones. I've also stocked up on big black knickers from primark which are comfy but I won't be worried about throwing them away and will get some nicer ones from m&s once the bleeding has slowed down.

@DressingGown87 sorry to hear about your rough time, thinking of you. Just echoing everyone else who's said you come across as a super strong woman and it already sounds like you're doing a great job for your daughter.

Sls668 · 20/09/2020 10:07

I feel like my emotions have gone totally haywire this weekend. My OH is driving me crazy (Only very minor things that just seem huge at the time!) then I just felt like crying at Britain’s got talent - not at the signing children or the man bringing his wife over from Canada, but at Dario the dinosaur 😳 I think I’ve lost the plot

Freddie1987 · 20/09/2020 10:53

@DressingGown87 I'm so sorry to hear that you're dealing with all those things alone right now, please make sure you take some time for yourself and ask for help. You've done so well so far with all the house stuff, but sounds like you need a big hug and someone to look after you for a bit too. Your baby is going to be so loved and lucky to have you as a mum!!

@Sls668 I'm with you on the irrational mood swings, feel on the verge of tears at most things these days. Think it's definitely the final countdown nerves and hormones ramping up again. Make sure you have a good cry when you need it though and then laugh about it after too if you need to! 😆

roarfeckingroarr · 20/09/2020 12:32

@DressingGown87 what an absolute shower of shit for you to deal with love, at the worst possible time. I'm sorry about your family member and that you have so much on your plate. Are you already locked down where you are?

@Flora20 I'm having loads of dreams about ships. I don't have a great interest in ships... very odd.

37 weeks today. Full term 😬.

1990shopefulftm · 20/09/2020 13:09

can I/ should I be packing dummies in my hospital bag? I don't think they'll have the facilities to sterilise them there.

LadyB90 · 20/09/2020 13:26

@1990shopefulftm
I haven't decided whether to take dummies yet but I have bought a little dummy sterilizer for out and about that might be useful if you do want to take them or just in general? I got the Milton one which is £7 in boots and then it's £3 for 50 tablets.

1990shopefulftm · 20/09/2020 13:35

@LadyB90 I went a bit overkill and have got 6 dummies with cases as they were a reasonable price so not worried about having something to sterilise when out and about, it'd just be for the hospital really but that sounds like a good price.

I know we could give him one from birth as I won't be BF, so i suppose could pack them and then the options there to use them if we wanted to try it.

roarfeckingroarr · 20/09/2020 17:04

Do dummies affect breast feeding?

1990shopefulftm · 20/09/2020 17:28

@roarfeckingroarr as I won't be bf myself I don't know much other than the NHS suggests you don't use dummies or bottles in the first 6 weeks of breastfeeding as it could mess with your supply so I ve been told.

Flora20 · 20/09/2020 18:54

@roarfeckingroarr It's not recommended to use them when you're starting to bf as the dummy is a different shape/texture/method of sucking, basically. The idea is that every sucking action to begin with should be at your breast - it can take time for baby to learn how to nurse effectively, so anything that might interfere with that learning process should be left until later, when they've worked out how to do it properly. Dummies were created to replace the breast (to mimic the newborn need to suckle almost constantly!) so if you're prepared for the constant nursing of a newborn you shouldn't need one. You get used to just popping them on all the time without thinking about it! If you're bottle feeding then it doesn't matter as obviously you need to respond to that instinct without having to make a bottle up every time.

DressingGown87 · 20/09/2020 19:49

@WaveStreet Thank you. I’ve stocked up on them primark knickers too, then plan on getting some better m&s.

@Sls668 Hormones are strange things, hope your ok. I watched BGT before I chuckled when the dinosaur came on.

@Freddie1987 thank you!

@roarfeckingroarr thank you. Yes I’m in Preston so we’ve been in local lockdown for a few weeks again, so restricted again on people coming to see me. Doesn’t look like we are coming out of it anytime soon, seen as they’ve now put the whole of Lancashire in lockdown too.

@LadyB90 I have that dummy steriliser too, looks really efficient.

I’ve been to see my mum again today. Then had a day on the sofa. I feel exhausted, tight, and crampy. She’s having a quiet day too.

Those who are booked in for an induction or ELCS have you been asked to isolate, prior to being admitted into hospital?

Also apart from the following, anyone got any recommendations for baby clothes online. Next, TU, George, Matalan, H&M John Lewis... struggling you find things I like for a girl 🙈 and I’m trying to avoid next, as I think most people gift off there.
