@DressingGown87 matalans stuff looks great but I wouldn't do anything on click and collect, I ordered something for baby 3 weeks ago and have had to email customer service as they still don't have it in the store.

FirstSurprise001 · 20/09/2020 21:15

@DressingGown87 Zara have some cute little girls bits online and also Morrison’s in store if you venture! My brother in law got some gorgeous little boy sets for us and they’re some of my favourites of all his clothes so far!

Flora20 · 21/09/2020 07:29

@DressingGown87 H&M quality tends to be good and they often have a nice selection. They also do Kimono style vests which are absolutely the way to go - trying to get a vest over the head of a newborn baby when you're sleep deprived and emotional is horrendous, arms in and popper up the sides is so much easier!

Flora20 · 21/09/2020 07:30

Oh we've been given nice things from Tu as well, the sleepsuits held up well for us from there with our first.

roarfeckingroarr · 21/09/2020 10:17

@1990shopefulftm @Flora20 thank you!! I'm aiming to breast feed for first six months or so and knew that about bottles. Won't buy any dummies yet.

@DressingGown87 that sucks, truly. I had high hopes for our early days, I had planned a little party to introduce baby to friends and a separate one for family, but even with this RO6 bollocks I can't do that. I'm so sorry you're in heavy lockdown. I'm scared that winter is going to feel very long and very dark for some of us.

1990shopefulftm · 21/09/2020 10:22

@roarfeckingroarr I m trying to be prepared that our family and friends meeting baby might not be an option near Christmas time since we can't meet up with anyone.
We don't normally bother decorating for Christmas and perhaps we won't have much energy with a newborn but at least we ll have a decent tree and decorations up this year to lift our spirits a bit.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 21/09/2020 12:37

morrisons(nutmeg) is online now btw.

I went for a growth scan this morning as midwife thought he was measuring big, however he's in the normal parameters. Was lovely to see him on the screen though.

He's head down right in my pelvis which is probably why Im so ruddy uncomftable!

krissy12 · 21/09/2020 12:39

sorry I havent been on in ages trying to keep up. I agree these restrictions and lockdowns are taking a lot of the excitement away for everyone and I don't see covid going away anytime soon Hmm

also if anyone is still to get baby toiletries asda have money off childs farm and they are doing the organic coconut baby oil for £2.95 instead of £8 !

FirstSurprise001 · 21/09/2020 15:46

Hey! I can’t remember which of you ladies were struggling with hip pain but does this sound like PGP?

I’ve always struggled with my hips anyway from being born with hip dysplasia but this last week I wouldn’t say it’s my hips, more like underneath if that makes sense? Both sides underneath my pelvis are causing a lot of pain, I’m struggling to walk, have a heaviness like I’m going to wet myself whenever I’m stood up and I now can’t roll over in the night without being in agony.

I’m going to mention it to the midwife on Friday but I take it if it is PGP there’s nothing you can do?

1990shopefulftm · 21/09/2020 15:58

@FirstSurprise001 afraid that sounds like PGP to me. it'd be painkillers or referring you to physio for the most part.

Freddie1987 · 21/09/2020 16:13

@FirstSurprise001 I mentioned my hips yes, it sounds exactly like the deep pain I have too. The only thing that's helped has been seeing a physio that actually did more of a needle and sports massage therapy. Would definitely be worth asking your GP to refer you if possible? I luckily had private treatment as it's covered by work health plan so if that's an option for you then it could be worth booking in somewhere sooner if it's causing you a lot of pain. I'd say that the deep massages did more for me than the actual physio exercises too, meant I could sleep better at night. Maybe worth trying some self massage and stretching before bed with some body oil to really work into the bits where it's painful? Sending strength to you because I know how miserable it can make you feel! X

Sls668 · 21/09/2020 17:54

Luckily I no longer feel like a wild emotional wreck so have returned to the real world and my OH is no longer scared to look at me!

Our baby girls stuff is mostly from Zara, M&S, some River Island (more for when she’s a bit bigger), Asda, Next, John Lewis and lots of little independent Instagram shops which are my favourite!

DressingGown87 · 21/09/2020 20:55

Thank you, will give them all a go.

@1990shopefulftm aww I’ve done an order for delivery, hope you get your things soon.

@Flora20 Them vest sound good, will try and order some.

@roarfeckingroarr Thank you. I know it’s all such a weird situation. RO6, lockdowns, no households, bubbles, it’s like when is it going to end. Long winter ahead.

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt That is good to know about nutmeg! Glad your scan went well today.

@FirstSurprise001 sorry to hear your suffering. I agree maybe a massage will help, I have been having them fornightly and they help any niggles, and try do a physio referral.

@krissy12 thank you, I have some toiletries on my list to get so will have a look.

@Sls668 glad you feeling a better. I know I love the independent shops, been trying to find some.

LadyB90 · 21/09/2020 22:27

Hey all!
Just wondering whether anyone has bought anything specific to give birth in/what you guys are planning on wearing for labour?

Mc3209 · 21/09/2020 22:42

@LadyB90 I haven't bought anything specific for labour, but was thinking of something along the lines of jersey/t shirt dress (mid shin length type of thing), so I can hike it up easily for access. I can't imagine faffing with trousers/leggings when the time comes or having to Donald Duck it between exams 😬

On the unrelated note, I've ordered a test kit for group B strep. In my trust they are not routinely done on NHS, but I do want one just in case.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 22/09/2020 07:55

I've got an old nighty that I used to use to dye my hair in....it'll get chucked afterwards

DressingGown87 · 22/09/2020 09:40

@LadyB90 I just got 2 T-shirt nighties from Primark. One for labour and one for after.

@Mc3209 that interesting that they don’t routinely test for it. I don’t know if my trust do, as I think they can test from urine Sample?

FirstSurprise001 · 22/09/2020 09:48

@Freddie1987 @1990shopefulftm thanks for coming back to me! I’ve been in the hospital seeing a midwife this morning and mentioned it to them so they’re referring me for physio. Seems a bit last minute to have it done but they did say it can continue into weeks after giving birth (just what you want to hear!!) fingers crossed it helps 😩

1990shopefulftm · 22/09/2020 10:28

@LadyB90 I was thinking of heading to the hospital in a maternity t-shirt dress and i've got a black nightie and pj set from boohoo in the sale if i want to change into something else.

@FirstSurprise001 no that's not what you want to hear, i hope the physio wait isn't too long.

Mc3209 · 22/09/2020 11:28

@FirstSurprise001 I am glad midwife has put a physio referral for you. Mine basically just told me not to cross legs when sitting, sleep with a pillow between the knees and do kegel exercises (pretty much everything I've been doing already).

SamK93 · 22/09/2020 11:29

@FirstSurprise001 I'm hoping you can get an appointment for the physio soon your midwife seems helpful. When I mentioned it pains to my midwife last week her actual words were, well there's no point referring you to physio really now as you may be waiting weeks and once the babies born everything will go back to normal anyway, you'll see. 😳

GhostWorld · 22/09/2020 11:49

Sorry to go off topic, has anyone had to replace their tutti bambini mattress? I'm finding it really difficult to know what to get, there are some on ebay that are cheap (maybe too cheap) and then some that seem very pricey!

1990shopefulftm · 22/09/2020 12:30

@SamK93 double check you can't self refer as my area allows you to do it and i think a fair few other places do now.

roarfeckingroarr · 22/09/2020 12:36

@GhostWorld I replaced ours via amazon, but can't remember the price

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 22/09/2020 12:42

I have SPD and the physio doesn't help (well at least me anyway). The only thing that works for me are hot baths and using a tummy support band when going for walks as it takes the weight of my pelvis.
